  • Shah Rukh Khan slammed by right-wingers for visiting Hindu temple ahead of ‘Jawan’ release

Shah Rukh Khan slammed by right-wingers for visiting Hindu temple ahead of ‘Jawan’ release

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was spotted along with his daughter Suhana Khan visiting Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Tirupati on Tuesday to offer prayers and ask for blessings ahead of the release of his action thriller ‘Jawan’.

The news however was met with backlash from right-wing conservatives on social media. The extreme-right brigade condemned the Bollywood actor for what they said was using religious temples as props for movie promotions. Many accused the ‘Pathaan’ actor of making a mockery of religious places, calling for a ban on Muslim actors visiting Hindu temples.

“Seriously? Why are we allowing our temples to be used as publicity props by non idolators ?” one user wrote.

    Another wrote:

“Hindu temples are not places of tourism & publicity stunt. Such gimmicks must stop and Hindus must resist such Nautanki. If you wanna take the blessings of our gods & goddesses then simply accept the Sanatan Dharma & carry on with your Yatra & not Temple Run publicity stunts.”

However, Bollywood actors have commonly visited temples before film releases to offer prayers for its success. Vicky Kaushal had visited the Siddivinayak temple in June to offer gratitude prayers after his film ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ became a box office success. Akshay Kumar visited BAPS Hindu Mandir in UAE to pray.

Shah Rukh Khan has been vocal about his secular family, not asking his children to follow Islam or Hinduism.

“We have never discussed Hindu-Muslim. My wife is Hindu, I am a Muslim and our kids are Hindustan. When they went to school, they had to write their religion. My daughter came to me once and asked ‘what is our religion?’ I simply wrote in her form that we are Indian, we do not have a religion.”

Many praised the superstar for his massive respect for all religions

  • Does AP Dhillon’s ‘With You’ sound similar to Pakistan’s ‘Tum Mil Gaye’?

Does AP Dhillon’s ‘With You’ sound similar to Pakistan’s ‘Tum Mil Gaye’?

Is there a slight chance that AP Dhillon’s hit song ‘With You’ is a copy of the same beat that the Vital Signs 90s hit ‘Tum Mil Gaye’ used?

Commentator Ahmer Naqvi raised the question when he pointed out that the first few beats of both songs sound intriguingly similar.

We are placing both songs here and allowing the audience to make their own judgement.

Other X users chimed in to say that they could notice the similarities.

But it seems like AP Dhillon has seemingly debunked these rumors, with a pinned comment by the producer Rebbel below the ‘Without You’ music video which reads:

“This beat is not copied or stolen. It’s produced by me and AP Dhillon rightfully purchased this beat off me and now owns the exclusive rights. I’m grateful to have been part of this record.”

Urvashi Rautela is still crushing on Naseem Shah and here’s proof

Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela knows that a crush on Pakistani cricketer Naseem Shah isn’t just a phase, but an everlong commitment. The actress shared a post on her Instagram stories about the exhilarating Asia Cup 2023 match between Pakistan and India yesterday, and guess who was in the picture? None other than Naseem Shah.

There have been rumors about Naseem and the ex beauty pageant winner having a thing for each other. The actress once shared a clip on her Instagram stories of two merged clips showing herself and the 19-year-old cricket player.

Then speculation was rife once more when Urvashi wished Naseem happy birthday underneath an Instagram post where he was sending good wishes to Shadab Khan for his wedding.

However in April Naseem let people know that no such relationship existed, when the rising cricket star was asked about the viral edited video showing him proposing to the Indian model, Naseem had refuted rumors saying he didn’t know the actress.

  • Govinda showed no interest in ‘Gadar’ over a moral issue

Govinda showed no interest in ‘Gadar’ over a moral issue

In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, director Anil Sharma spoke about the casting choices for the original 2001 film ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’. Rumors began circulating that Govinda was considered to play the lead role that eventually went to Sunny Deol. Now, the director has clarified that although the ‘Partner’ actor was not considered for the role, he himself wasn’t interested in the project because the film revolved around Hindu-Muslim conflict:

“Govinda wasn’t a choice for Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. I had done a film called Maharaja with him. One day, I was just narrating the story of Gadar to him and he told me, ‘I can’t do this film.’ He thought that I was narrating the film to him because I wanted to cast him.”

“Before narrating the story, I had told him that I have narrated this story to Sunny Deol and I am doing this film with him. Then he asked me, ‘What is the story?’ So then I narrated Gadar’s story to him and he told me, ‘No, I can’t do this film because it has so much Hindu-Muslim conflict.’”

The director revealed Govinda wasn’t his first choice as the lead role of the movie because he had already set his mind on casting a Punjabi hero like Sunny Deol:

“That was the small conversation we had about Gadar. Perhaps this misconception remained in his mind that I was offering him the film. But he wasn’t a bad choice, he was the superstar of that time but in my mind, I wanted a Punjabi hero and that could only be Sunny Deol.”

Naseeruddin Shah opens up about ‘love jihad’ accusations on marriage to Ratna Pathak

Bollywood veteran Naseeruddin Shah recently wrote an open letter to the National Herald where he addressed his 41-year long marriage to Hindu wife and actress, Ratna Pathak. He wrote that their bond has remained strong despite accusations of ‘love jihad’ levied by the spouse of an ex-prime minister, who told him “No one said anything when you married outside your religion.”

“I had no compunctions or hesitation about marrying a Hindu, and vice-versa.” wrote the ‘Masoom’ actor. “I didn’t dream that some put-out-to-pasture spouse of an ex-cabinet minister would, 38 years after my marriage, threaten me with ‘no one said anything when you married outside your religion’, stopping short of accusing me of love jihad but clearly implying that my time was now up.”

The actor, who met Ratna during the rehearsal for Satyadev Dubey’s play ‘Sambhog se Sanyas Tak’ in 1975. The actor went on to clarify that he was incredibyl supportive of whether the actress wished to convert to Islam or not, and so was his mother:

“As it happened, the subject of my wife Ratna converting to Islam was brought up just once by my mother and that as enquiry, to which on receiving a reply in the negative, she concurred with a ‘Haan, mazhab kaise badla jaa sakta hai.’ Whether this statement of a woman weaned exclusively on a diet of the Quran makes more sense than the hate-filled rhetoric of ‘Hindus and Muslims cannot live together’, I will leave to the judgement of the reader.”

The ‘Ishqiya’ actor went on to emphasize how his strong partnership is proof that Muslims and Hindus can live together peacefully:

“All I can say is that my union (accepted unquestioningly by both families) with a Hindu woman for 40 years so far is proof— if proof were needed—that it is not only possible but desirable for Hindus and Muslims to live together. So, from where did this poison appear? Or were the seeds of hatred planted during Partition slowly germinating all that while?”

The actor had previously gushed about Ratna being a supportive partner who stuck with him through thick and thin, and how the two have remained close friends:

“I just felt I’d like to know this person. Over the process of rehearsals, we got to know each other. I think she also liked what she saw. It’s been a great blessing because we have stood by each other through thick and thin. She has stood by me rather through thick and thin, through very difficult times, and through very good times. I think the main reason for that is because we have remained friends – that’s the most important thing.”

“Ratna was a blessing for me. In hindsight, she probably deserved better—I had been married before and was a drug addict when I met her. In fact, her parents never approved of our match. But Ratna being who she was, never paid any heed to it. We never paid any heed to it. We knew we wanted to be together and that’s what we did. And that resulted in this beautiful partnership and friendship that we share to this day. I consider myself very lucky to have had Ratna with me through every thick and thin, and every sadness and happiness. It’s beautiful how we still find something new about each other every day, even after all this time–something more to love and cherish about the other person. More than anything else, that is what I live for.”

‘Psychiatrist told me I had manic depression’, Mahira opens up about mental health

Superstar Mahira Khan was a guest on Frieha Altaf’s podcast where she opened up about learning to face her mental health struggles, especially after stepping into Bollywood with the Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Raees’, and the 2017 incident where pictures of her smoking with Ranbir Kapoor emerged online. She also talked about the 2016 Uri attack, after which Pakistani actors were banned from working in Bollywood.

Reflecting on that time, the actress revealed she dealt with immense backlash, calling it “unexpected”.

Mahira said she was getting scary calls, hateful messages to the point that she couldn’t travel to India to promote ‘Raees’, which was heartbreaking and it began creating anxiety and depression. The ‘Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay’ actress revealed she was constantly seeing her image on television screens, and getting hateful messages telling her to leave India, and it escalated to the point that her faith broke.

“I developed severe anxiety to the point that one day I had a panic attack and fainted’ recalled Mahira. “That’s the first time I went for therapy.”

“But that didn’t work out, as I went to several therapists. But either I was not opening up, or the therapist sitting across me would be looking at me with awe thinking ‘what would she have to complain about’?”

Raees released in 2017, the same year Mahira’s Pakistani film ‘Verna’ released across Pakistan, and at the same time, the picture scandal happened.

“I couldn’t sleep, my hands would shake,” the ‘Bin Roye’ actress confessed.

Mahira said she eventually visited a psychiatric hospital, where she was informed that she had manic depression. The actress said for the past six or seven years she has been on anti-depressants. She once tried quitting the meds in the middle which put her in a dark hole.

“I did understand that there is something beyond me. Beyond the prayers i will do, beyond the friends that will cheer me up, beyond work and success. There is something not right, and it’s okay.”

The ‘Superstar’ actress said that by talking about her mental health struggles and breaking the stigma surrounding the topic, she hoped more people would learn to approach others for help rather than treat it with shame.

“I talk it every chance I get. This is the first time I’m opening up about the fact that I’ve been taking medicine for so many years. And when I tried leaving it like I said it was bad… And I was again in and out of hospitals trying to get help. But yes, everybody has ups and downs, bad times and happy times, but clinical depression is real like any other mental illness or physical illness.”

Shah Rukh Khan endorses a gaming app and protests erupt outside his home, security increased

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s recent endorsements were met with severe backlash from the public, including an NGO which felt the actor was encouraging younger minds to play online games. The actor recently endorsed a gaming app A23, an online platform, for which a commercial was released in which the ‘Pathaan’ actor said “Chalo saath khelein’.

Protests followed and were led by the NGO Untouch Youth Foundation, which called for celebrities to be held accountable for promoting online gaming apps which could ‘corrupt their minds of the youth of India’. Demonstrations were held outside Mannat house, SRK’s residence, and police officials were deployed in case of security threats.

In an official statement, the organisation said they were calling for a protest against gaming apps like Zuppee, Jungly Rummy, and called out actors who endorsed these products.

“Famous actors and actresses work in these advertisements and they are working towards misguiding society. The protest will be held outside Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat bungalow on behalf of Untouch India Foundation.”

The president of Untouch India Foundation, Krishchandra Adal, said:

“The new generation is involved in playing Junglee rummy. If someone is playing Junglee rummy or gambling outside, the police arrest them, but big Bollywood stars promoting online games are misleading the young generation. The Bollywood stars also know it is wrong, but they are getting money so they are promoting them. We make these stars famous by watching their movies and spending our money on them. We demand these advertisements to stop. These apps are illegal, we can not find them on Google, but these apps are uploaded on private websites.”

Vicky Kaushal calls a very special person whenever he has good news

    Truly the internet’s boyfriend

Vicky Kaushal worships the ground his wife, Katrina Kaif walks on. Truly a fresh breath of air compared to actors who demand their wives not wear lipstick while outside.

In a recent interview with Grazia, the ‘Sardar Udham’ star is making us feel even more single. He revealed that Katrina was the first person he calls when he has good news, adding that previously he would call his mom.

“When I cracked my first audition and I told my mom about it and she started dancing. That was the first time I saw her dancing. Many such moments, like even on film sets there have been moments when you feel like something special just happened. You felt it. Those moments are very special.”

Vicky also spoke about the most important days of his life.

“My wedding, the happiest three days of my life,” he firmly stated.

In July, the duo moved social media with their heartfelt comments about each other, when Kaif revealed that Kaushal pampers her and calls her his “panic button”.

Imran Khan reveals why he stepped away from making films after ‘Break Kay Baad’

If you were a teenager on during the 2000’s, chances are you were swept up in the wave of adoration for Imran Khan. Nope, not THAT one, but the one who made us swoon with his charm and wit with films like ‘Jaane Tu Jaane Na’ and ‘I Hate Luv Stories’. But then he suddenly announced his retirement and completely stepped away from films, leaving love struck girlies heartbroken and without a fictional character to moon about.

Now, Imran is dropping hints that he was definitely sure that this wasn’t the last the world had seen of him. When a fan commented under Zeenat Amin’s film, begging the actor to make a comeback, Imran shocked everyone by commenting that he was absolutely ready.

Now, Imran has shared pictures from his old films on his Instagram account, like he shared a couple of pictures of his 2012 film ‘Break Kay Baad’ where he starred along side Deepika Padukone. He wrote in the caption that despite the negative reviews, the film held a special place in his heart because of how much he enjoyed making it.

“In the summer of 2010, I went to Mauritius to shoot Break ke Baad. We swam every day, ate a lot of seafood, sampled Mauritian rum (potent), and made some friends for life. It was a blast. Apparently, in between all the revelries, we managed to make a film as well. This one always had a special place in my heart, because of how much I enjoyed making it. I can’t show you many of the behind the scenes photographs, as it may compromise the modesty of certain individuals… but here’s a glimpse.”

In the Instagram stories, Imran shared the reason why he was reminiscing about his old films on Instagram, writing that it was to help him reshape the connection he had with his career, and to address how he left the industry because of the over whelming negative response to ‘Break Kay Baad’.

“If you’re wondering why I’m looking at the past so much…it’s because I’m reshaping my relationship with my films. To be clear, I’m not blaming anyone for anything; all opinions are valid, and not everyone will like the same things…that’s normal. Unfortunately, at the same time, I was only able to look at things from a negative mindset.”

The actor went on to share that despite having so much fun filming ‘Break Kay Baad’ the only thing he remembered the most was the overwhelming negative reviews the film received.

The actor, who is the nephew of Bollywood veteran star Aamir Khan, said the negative feedback had brought him down, but the support of the fans-who begged him to come back on the main screen- helped him regain his faith back in his career.

“And that is where,” the actor wrote. “I realize my mistake; I paid so much heed to the voices that hurt… and I never valued the voices that loved. What a fool. I won’t make that mistake again.”

“Thank you all for helping me change my perspective,” and thank you Imran for pushing past the hate, and coming to show everyone what a true rom-com film looks like.
