Hamza Ali Abbasi denies involvement in sister Fazeela Abbasi’s money laundering case

Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has issued a statement after his name was linked to a money laundering case involving his sister Dr Fazeela Abbasi.

“I am not under any investigation by any agency, nor am I part of this case in any capacity, and I would like to clarify this briefly,” Hamza Ali Abbasi wrote in an Instagram post.

He added that recent media coverage had created the impression that he was connected to the matter, which he described as incorrect.

“My sister is a highly accomplished professional with her own extremely successful career. She is my family, and I stand by her with love and support during this time. I have full confidence in her integrity, and I believe her side of the story deserves to be heard. I am also confident that our institutions will ensure justice is done and that the truth will prevail. At the same time, her professional and legal matters are entirely separate from me.”

He also requested that his name not be associated with the case in future media coverage, warning that continued linkage could result in legal action.

Dr Fazeela Abbasi faces two separate cases filed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) related to alleged money laundering and the operation of an unregistered clinic. One case has been lodged with the Commercial Banking Circle, while the other has been initiated by the Anti-Corruption Wing.

According to FIA documents, large sums, including foreign currency, were transferred abroad through accounts not fully declared in tax records. Authorities also noted discrepancies in financial documentation and said explanations provided were not deemed satisfactory. The cases remain sub judice.

Earlier, a special central court in Islamabad rejected the interim bail application of Fazeela Abbasi in connection with money laundering, hawala/hundi and suspicious financial transactions.

Money laundering case: Court denies bail to Hamza Ali Abbasi’s sister

A special central court in Islamabad has rejected the interim bail application of Fazeela Abbasi, sister of actor Hamza Ali Abbasi, in cases concerning money laundering, hawala/hundi, and suspicious financial transactions.

Special Judge Central Humayun Dilawar turned down the plea, citing the petitioner’s non-appearance. The court also denied her request for medical exemption and later released a detailed written order explaining the decision.

The ruling noted that the petitioner had deliberately misused the relief granted in pre-arrest bail. It pointed out that the bail application had been pending since January 13, 2026, and that the Islamabad High Court had not issued any restraining order in the matter.

The court further stated that any relief previously provided to Fazeela Abbasi was linked to a stay order in a separate case and did not apply to the current proceedings.

With the interim bail denied, legal action against her is expected to move forward.

Meanwhile, Hamza Ali Abbasi and his wife Naimal Khawar Khan are focusing on the launch of their matchmaking platform, Marriage4life. The couple shared the announcement on their official account.

In a separate video, Hamza Ali Abbasi explained, “There are ground offices in multiple locations. We have offices in the UK, Norway, Paris, Denmark, and Lahore, ready to help not just with marriage matchmaking but also with pre-marriage consultations and post-marriage consultations.”

He added that the team in Europe is involved in making the app accessible on Apple devices, Android, and web browsers.

Hamza Ali Abbasi, Naimal Khawar announce launch of ‘Marriage 4 Life’ app

Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi and Naimal Khawar have announced the launch of a matrimonial platform, Marriage 4 Life, aimed at connecting users based on what they described as “Islamic values”.

The couple shared details of the app on Monday, stating that the platform will have physical offices in multiple countries, including the United Kingdom (UK), Norway, Paris and Denmark.

While the Pakistan office will be in Lahore, these offices would not only facilitate matchmaking but also provide pre and post-marriage consultations.

Abbasi noted that the network is expected to expand to Karachi as well as locations in North America and the Middle East.

He also highlighted a feature referred to as the Wali function, which allows parents or guardians to monitor communication between users. According to him, this includes options for real-time message tracking or the use of an AI system to flag “indecent” words and notify guardians.

Abbasi further stated that the platform includes a detailed bio-data system, with on-ground agents assigned to verify user information.

He also said that psychologists and therapists are part of the platform to assist users during different stages of the matchmaking process.

Describing the app, Abbasi said it is an “all-in-one solution to all your marriage problems” and it is already available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

  • If I woke up as Humayun Saeed, I’ll go to the gym: Hamza Ali Abbasi

If I woke up as Humayun Saeed, I’ll go to the gym: Hamza Ali Abbasi

Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi recently showed his humorous side in a podcast segment where he was asked what he would do if he woke up as different Pakistani celebrities.

From teasing Humayun Saeed about his fitness routine to praising Fawad Khan’s charm and Mahira Khan’s acting, Hamza’s answers had fans smiling throughout.

When the host asked what he would do if he woke up as Humayun Saeed, Hamza instantly replied, “I’d go to the gym first thing. Because I know his biggest issue is that he can’t stay consistent with the gym.”

Moving on to Fawad Khan, Hamza admitted there wasn’t much he would change if he woke up as him. “If I were Fawad, what would I do? Actually, I wouldn’t do anything. Fawad doesn’t need to do much, just waking up as he is, that’s fine,” he said with a smile. “I’d just keep looking at myself; he’s fine in that regard. His body’s fine too.”

The actor also shared what he would do if he woke up as singer Atif Aslam. “I’d start by singing something in the morning so that it benefits me and also the birds chirping outside could feel it a bit too,” Hamza joked. “So I’d start my day by singing.”

When asked about Hania Aamir, Hamza praised her recent achievements and said, “If I were Hania, then I’d be planning a trip to Sri Lanka next because she represented Pakistan so well in Bangladesh. Mashallah. So I’d plan to represent Pakistan somewhere else.”

Finally, talking about Mahira Khan, Hamza’s tone turned thoughtful. “If I were Mahira, then I think I’d be asking for a new drama script because she needs to do more dramas,” he said. “Actually, even if I were Fawad, I’d say, we should give our TV screens a little lift. Because our TV really needs superstars like Fawad and Mahira.”

Hamza added that Mahira continues to work in television, but he hopes Fawad will return to the small screen soon. “If Fawad starts doing TV in Pakistan, it would be a great service to Pakistani television,” he concluded.

Hamza Ali Abbasi is best known for his roles in the blockbuster film The Legend of Maula Jatt and the hit drama Pyaray Afzal.

He also released his book My Discovery of God, Islam & Judgement Day in 2024.

In this work he explores his journey from atheism back to Islam and presents a rational inquiry into belief, the nature of the Creator and the concept of accountability on the Day of Judgement.

  • ‘May 9 was totally wrong’: Hamza Ali Abbasi trains guns at Imran Khan, PTI

‘May 9 was totally wrong’: Hamza Ali Abbasi trains guns at Imran Khan, PTI

Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has stirred controversy following his appearance on a podcast hosted by Mansoor Ali Khan, where he openly criticised Imran Khan’s political strategy and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) past tactics, particularly condemning the long marches and May 9 as “totally wrong.”

Hamza argued that politics should not be treated as a battle of absolute right versus wrong. He believes Imran Khan should have avoided confrontation and protest-driven tactics, stressing the need for peaceful political engagement. His remarks triggered backlash on social media, especially from PTI supporters, and sparked heated debate across platforms like X (formerly Twitter).

Abbasi’s comments come years after he resigned as PTI’s culture secretary in April 2015. At the time, he stepped down, announcing it via a Facebook post, citing a conflict between his values and the nature of his upcoming film project. While he remained a vocal supporter of PTI for years, his latest remarks were not appreciated by many supporting the party.

One X user wrote, “Hamza Ali Abbasi say political difference ki ummed thi leikin aesi tone-deafness ki umeed nai thi. Reality is this: people like him say ‘I have changed,’ but they always want to impose the same change on others and never want to understand where the other is coming from.”

Another user posted, “Hamza Ali Abbasi to Mansoor Ali Khan: ‘Khan’s long marches should’ve never happened. 9th May was very wrong. In politics, there is no Haq vs Batil.’ A major shift from one of Khan’s earlier vocal supporters.”

Hamza admitted, “I was very happy when Imran Khan became Prime Minister because I was part of that movement since 2013,” adding that “My activism ended the day Imran Khan became PM.”

When Mansoor Ali Khan asked whether things turned out as expected once Khan became Prime Minister, Hamza replied, “There were some good things and some bad. But now, people are extremely sensitive about this topic. They are not ready to hear criticism.”

Speaking about the positives, Hamza acknowledged, “Economic activity had improved and foreign relationships were getting better.”

Referring to the “2022 confrontation”, events of May 9, he said, “Everything came to light, the confrontation began, and it’s still ongoing.”

He went to say, “My humble request is that there should be no confrontation – not from Imran Khan’s side, not from the Army’s side, not from PML-N’s side. Because all of them are us – all of them are Pakistan.”

When Mansoor asked a hypothetical question about May 9, whether taking over military areas could have changed the game, Hamza responded, “It was wrong. May 9 was wrong. Since PTI didn’t hold a session, I’m requesting everyone. Though my request may not make any difference now, I’m still requesting everyone.”

He continued, “Look, what is the army? The army is us, our fathers, grandfathers, uncles have served in it. Where they’ve done 10,000 good things, there might be 5 wrong ones. But we must correct those wrongs together, through dialogue, not by fighting and dying.”

“Let me give you a hypothetical scenario. If the monopoly of power slips from the army’s hands in an unorganised way… what will Pakistan’s future be? We don’t know. Here, every other person thinks he’s a ‘Turam Khan’ with his own militia,” he added.

“We have to negotiate with this very army, it’s ours. My father has served in it; yours probably has too. Someone close to you must have served. Solve issues through dialogue. Don’t confront. This is my request to all army personnel listening.”

Hamza also made a personal appeal to Imran Khan: “He has a political history. Whether right or wrong, people support him immensely. But God forbid, if something happens to him health-wise in jail, what kind of backlash will that create? People already feel their political sentiments are being crushed. He should understand this. Everyone should understand – pursue your interests, but don’t let the country suffer. Head-on collision is good for no one.”

In another segment of the podcast, Mansoor asked if the real issue lies in Pakistan’s democratic system, particularly the establishment’s involvement in Imran Khan’s rise from the 2014 dharna to the Prime Minister’s (PM) House by 2018. Hamza admitted, “There are many problems. The establishment’s interference in politics is no secret. But again, my point remains that as long as we continue with confrontation, the damage will continue.”

When asked what Khan should do next, Hamza said, “Khan Sahib probably knows better than me. But one thing I’ll say: don’t go toward confrontation, agitation, or violence. Step back. Solve issues through dialogue, even if you get only four of your demands accepted and six of theirs. That’s still a win.”

  • Hamza Ali Abbasi breaks silence on performing friend’s nikkah

Hamza Ali Abbasi breaks silence on performing friend’s nikkah

Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has recently responded to the criticism he faced for performing the Nikah at a close friend’s wedding.

A video that went viral some time ago showed Hamza conducting the Nikah ceremony, during which he also asked the groom to declare the Haq Mehar (dower, or the obligatory financial gift a groom is promised to give his bride at the time of marriage).

In a recent podcast interview, Hamza explained, “Performing Nikah or Janazah is basic religious knowledge that every Muslim should have. My friend himself requested me [to conduct his Nikah], so I took up the responsibility.” He also clarified that a religious scholar was present at the ceremony to guide him.

Hamza, who has been engaged in the study of Islam for years now, further discussed his spiritual journey during the interview. “What I say is not my personal opinion, but knowledge gained from the Quran, Hadith, and lectures of scholars,” he emphasised.

He also revealed that he follows the Ghamdi School of Thought and has made significant moral changes in his life since 2017. He added, “I work within my limits and do not cross any boundaries as per Sharia.”

Earlier, social media users were divided over the viral video showing Hamza officiating the Nikah.

The clip featured him reading from a phone and asking the groom if he accepted the bride three times — to which the groom replied, “Qabool hai [I accept]” each time. Hamza responded with, “SubhanAllah [Glory be to Allah].”

While many praised the video, calling Nikah a legal act that any Muslim can conduct, others felt that the moment lacked a certain religious decorum.

“Nikah and funeral prayers can be conducted by any Muslim,” wrote one user. Another commented, “It’s a good practice, and not everything needs to be criticised online.”

“My Nikah was officiated by my uncle — there’s nothing wrong with that,” added another.

Others even praised Hamza’s appearance in the video, calling him a “handsome Nikah officiator.”

The video resurfaced just months after Hamza made headlines for publishing his book My Discovery of God: Islam and Judgement Day.

Before that, he had announced embarking on a journey of self-discovery to study religion.

“Alhamdulillah. For now, it is available in the USA only, but soon it will be available globally and in Pakistan. Will keep you all posted. Thank you,” he wrote in a social media post announcing the book.

Many congratulated him on the accomplishment, while others posed tough questions — which Hamza welcomed and answered directly.

  • Internet divided after viral video shows Hamza Ali Abbasi officiating Nikah

Internet divided after viral video shows Hamza Ali Abbasi officiating Nikah

Social media users are divided over a viral video that showed actor Hamza Ali Abbasi officiating the marriage ceremony of a couple.

According to the details, the video showed Abbasi reading a script off a phone, asking the groom if he accepted the bride, as per tradition.

“Qabool hai [I accept],” the groom can be heard as saying all three times, to which Abbasi responds with “SubhanAllah [glory be to Allah]”.

While the video was well-received by thousands who said that anyone could read Nikah that was “a legal and not a religious document”, others said that it lacked certain “decorum” that should have been there.

“Nikah and funeral prayers can be conducted by any Muslim,” wrote one user. Another said that it was in fact a good practice and not every act should be criticised online.

“My Nikah was officiated by my uncle and there is nothing wrong with that,” said a third.

A couple others opined that marriage officiation should be left to those who “realise its significance”, while another jokingly wrote, “Now even this is being done by actors? Leave something for others to do.”

Some even took to social media to point out how “handsome” the Nikah officiator was.

It merits a mention that the video comes months after Abbasi made headlines for his new book called “My Discovery of God – Islam and Judgement Day”.

Prior to this, Abbasi had announced embarking on “a journey of self-discovery” to research more on religion.

“Alhamdullilah. For now, it is available in the USA [sic] only but soon it will be available globally and in Pakistan, will keep you all posted. Thank you,” the Maula Jatt star had said while announcing the book in a social media post last year.

On hearing about the star’s biggest accomplishment, many had congratulated him while others had some hard questions for the actor-turned-author.

He had, however, not shied away from taking all questions head-on and responding to queries of fans and other social media users.

  • When Atif helped Hamza Ali Abbasi talk to Naimal Khawar during Hajj

When Atif helped Hamza Ali Abbasi talk to Naimal Khawar during Hajj

Who would have thought legendary singer Atif Aslam would be the glue that helped keep actor Hamza Ali Abbasi and Naimal Khawar in touch?

But that is exactly what happened during the star singer and actor’s unforgettable Hajj trip together before Abbasi got married.

In a recent video as part of his digital project ‘Borderless World’, Atif recalled how he became Abbasi’s go-to person during the pilgrimage in 2019.

He said he remembered when Naimal messaged him because Abbasi didn’t have his phone with him.

“He took my phone and went to the side. I remember the conversations… ‘When is the wedding? Don’t cut your hair… don’t cut your hair’,” Atif said in the video alongside Abbasi and his now-wife Naimal.

Confirming Atif’s side of the story, Abbasi said he remembered it all. “I remember that entire phase… he [Atif] was [the] means of communication between me and Naimal.”

He went on to recall how he wasn’t even prepared for the trip.

“I didn’t even have a soap, and he gave it to me. I didn’t have a brush either… he gave me that too. I didn’t even have slippers and he gave me those as well,” Abbasi said while pointing at Atif.

He went on to say that the star singer was his wingman on Hajj and they now had a “bond for life”.

Earlier, in an interview with Amna Haider Isani’s Haute Talk, Abbasi talked about the challenges he faced in love and relationships before meeting his wife Naimal Khawar.

The Legends of Maula Jatt actor revealed that he had never truly experienced love “in the right way” before finding his soulmate.

“In life, I had never experienced love in the right way and I was never able to truly love [someone]. I had many bad experiences and I believe the fault was mostly mine. I wasn’t mature enough. I still don’t think I’m mature enough to say I’ve grown up,” he said.

“I’ve broken hearts and my own heart was broken too. I feel ashamed for hurting people,” the actor said while reflecting on his past.

After going through so many hardships Abbasi said, he turned to faith and made a sincere prayer.

“I prayed, ‘Oh Allah, I’ve never experienced true love, and I never thought of marriage.’ Then I chose a path and prayed for love or marriage. I didn’t know how to go about it but I trusted Allah, and I think my prayer was accepted. Allah took my hand and led me to love a person in a way that I had no control over. I couldn’t control myself and it was happening on autopilot.”

  • Outstanding performances and intense drama make Faraar a riveting watch

Outstanding performances and intense drama make Faraar a riveting watch

The new drama, Faraar, is a thriller filled with unexpected twists, intense moments, and some out-of-the-box characters. Its first episode aired indicates that it does not have a typical storyline – it is packed with action, hard-hitting storylines and shocking moments that keep you glued to your screen.

The drama unfolds a story of six characters, Batish (Hamza Ali Abbasi), Nazish (Sohai Ali Abro), Fasih (Batish), Saadia (Mamya JSK), Babrik (Danyal Zafar) and Zhalay (Meerub Ali) – all of whom come from different walks of life yet carrying their burdens on their shoulders. They’re all trying to escape their pasts, driven by guilt and secrets.

Faraar is written by Mustafa Afridi, a talented writer known for his ability to tackle complex social issues. His latest work in the drama serial ‘Zard Patton Ka Bunn’ directed by Saife Hassan, showcased his skill in creating intricate characters while addressing important societal topics like Child labour, girl education and overpopulation.

In Faraar, however, Afridi brings depth and intrigue to the story by bringing themes of freedom, guilt and the search for redemption.

His portrayal of characters trying to escape their pasts highlights the struggles many face in real life, making the drama both relatable and thought-provoking.

Mustafa Afridi has primarily collaborated with director Saife Hassan on projects like Sang-e-Mar Mar, Sang-e-Mah, Ehd-e-Wafa, and Zard Patton ka Bunn. The drama serial Faraar, therefore, marks a shift, as it is directed by Musadiq Malik and Syed Wajahat Hussian. Their direction adds a fresh twist to Afridi’s script, and it hits the right cord because of the gripping execution.

From the very first scene of the episode, we see Ahmed Ali Akbar as Fashih, a suspended yet fearless police officer who remains committed to doing what’s right. His character brings a certain intensity to the screen in another drama that airs on HUM TV in which Ahmed Ali Akbar plays the same character of a police officer as SHO Jam Nagar, but in Nadaan, he is not suspended.

Then there’s Hamza Ali Abbasi as ‘Batish,’ the hitman (Gunda), with a surprisingly soft side. Batish appears so awkward around Sadia, played by Mamya JSK, especially when he tries to hide his crush, which is both cute and funny. The general store owner’s funny guess about Batish’s next move was a nice, light moment before things got serious.

Danyal Zafar, who plays the character ‘Babrik’, enters the scene, easily irritated by his rival Suleman in Swabi. But what truly stands out in this episode is Hasan Noman, who steals the show as the local Pathan.

His scene, lounging on a charpaye and commenting on Babrik’s rude behaviour, is so authentic and engaging that you can’t help but appreciate how perfectly he plays the role. Hassan Noman was the last to star in Khaie, where he portrayed the character Pathan.

The most powerful moment goes to Sohai Ali Abro as Nazish, a character caught in a terrible situation. When she’s bound to a chair and threatened with acid and violence over a suspected affair, the tension is almost unbearable.

Her pain, facial expression, and the harsh domestic violence of the scene make it horrible and terrifying. Also, Nadia Jamil’s character is outstanding; her dialogue delivery and facial expressions were all on point, as she is playing a negative character, but she did very well.

Tanveer Hussain, a seasoned actor from PTV, is also seen in Faraar. After Zard Patton Ka Bunn, Gentlemen, and Mann Jogi, he is now a new character in Faraar.

In the cast, Noor-ul-Hassan is also seen playing a professor, Hamdani, who dared to speak against a powerful and corrupt politician.

  • My wedding was arranged by Allah: Hamza Ali Abbasi

My wedding was arranged by Allah: Hamza Ali Abbasi

Have you ever wondered if love is something that finds you when you are ready or when it’s simply meant to be? For actor Hamza Ali Abbasi, the journey to finding true love wasn’t easy, but it was guided by something greater, he says.

Appearing as a guest on Amna Haider Isani’s Haute Talk, Abbasi talked about the challenges he faced in love and relationships before meeting his wife Naimal Khawar.

Abbasi also spoke about his journey of self-reflection and seeking forgiveness. “I’ve asked for forgiveness and I did what I could to make amends.
I’ve hurt people, I’ve broken hearts, and I have done many wrong things,” he added.

The Parwaaz hai Junoon actor also reflected on how life’s challenges led him to find peace and love in unexpected ways.

“Allah brought me to someone simple, and I fell in love with Naimal. We got married and it’s been almost six years. Alhamdulillah, Allah accepted my prayer and honoured me. I didn’t have the capability or maturity to do this on my own.
My wedding was arranged by Allah and I didn’t have the maturity to plan it. It was beautiful, simple and full of blessings from Allah. A wedding should be simple so that it doesn’t turn into a show. You can save money and keep it simple,” Abbasi added.

Naimal Khawar and Hamza Ali Abbasi tied the knot on August 25, 2019, in Islamabad.

Abbasi is currently in the headlines for starring in Faraar, a drama serial written by Mustafa Afridi and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain and Musadiq Malik.
