Get glowing with these DIY seasonal fruit masks

Ladies, it’s Sunday and we should all be unwinding after a long week. Pamper yourself with these amazing face masks and get super glowy and healthy skin. Here are a few DIY face masks that you can easily make at home.

Make sure you wear an old T-shirt or an apron to prevent the face mask from dripping onto your clothes and apply the face masks over your bathroom sink to avoid making a mess on the floor. Oh and don’t forget to light some candles for the perfect relaxing experience.

    1.    Mango and Gram Flour (Besan) face mask:

    You’ll need:

    4 tbsp mango pulp

    2 tbsp gram flour (Besan)

    1 tsp honey

    1 tsp yogurt

    How to make?

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Make a thick paste and use your fingers to spread it on your face. Leave it on to dry and then wash with cold water.

Gram flour (besan) is very good for exfoliation and it also helps in tan removal. Yogurt can help in lightening dark spots and honey keeps the skin hydrated.

    2. Mango and egg white:

    You’ll need:

    2 tbsp mango pulp

    1 egg white

    How to make?

Whisk the egg white well and add the mango pulp to it. Blend well and make a smooth paste.

Apply the face pack. Let it dry for 20-30 minutes. Wash with cold water.

Egg white makes the skin tight and tones the skin. This prevents wrinkles and other signs of aging. Meanwhile, the mango pulp prevents drying.

If you are not in a mood to make a face pack. You can rub mango slice all over your face. That also does wonders.

    3. Apricot Mask:

    You’ll need:

    3-4 apricots

    1 tbsp oatmeal (ground)

    2 tbsp of yogurt

    How to make?

Wash and remove the pits of the apricots and grind them. Mix apricot puree, oatmeal, and yogurt.

Apply it to the face. Let it dry for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.

Apricot removes blackheads and helps in improving skin elasticity. It acts as a natural moisturizer. It will help in reducing skin blemishes and improving skin tone.

    4. Peach, Lemon Juice And Rose Water

    You’ll need:

    1/2 Peach

    1 teaspoon lemon juice

    1 tbsp Rose Water

    How to make?

Mash the peach with juice. Add lemon and rose water to mix the ingredients.

Mash well and apply on your face. Let it air dry for 25 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.

Mixing peach with lemon juice and rose water adds a glow to the face, clears skin from impurities and prevents the formation of acne and pimples.

    5. Papaya Cucumber Banana Face Mask

For a soothing and refreshing feeling, use this papaya, cucumber, and banana face mask.

Apply mixture onto your face and let it dry for about 15 minutes. Wash the mask with lukewarm water. Pat your face dry with a clean towel.

Papaya is good for reducing pigmentation, cucumber soothes sunburned skin, and banana will hydrate and soften rough skin.

Al-Huda’s Farhat Hashmi says there is no such thing as marital rape

Televangelist Farhat Hashmi has often been criticised for her regressive views and statements.

Recently, a video on her’s surfaced on Twitter in which she is saying that marital rape does not exist. According to Hashmi, a woman cannot say no to her husband and advises wives to submit to their husbands’ ‘demands’.

Hashmi said that she wouldn’t prefer to talk on the relations between a husband and wife because they are private but because it is about religion she feels she should address the matter. Farhat then went onto say that a lot of marriages and households are affected because of such matters as they are not openly discussed.

Farhat then went onto say that women have developed a mood of resistance and are more focused towards their careers because of which they don’t have enough time for their husbands. She said that “Allah ki raza, shohar ki raza main hai aur Allah ki narazgi, shohar ki narazgi main hai.

Farhat also said that men work hard to keep their wives so the least the wives can do is to ensure they are sexually satisfied and that a woman’s mood shouldn’t count. Farhat asserted that in order to keep Allah happy, a women must keep her husband happy. She even quoted a Hadith to support her stance.

However, Farhat said that oral and anal sex is unlawful and haraam. She also said that if a woman is sick or is physically weak then she doesn’t have to oblige to her husband’s demands.

  • How Prince Harry is saving the environment

How Prince Harry is saving the environment

The World Economic Forum has estimated that currently there is 50 million tons of plastic in the world’s oceans which is alarming because plastic can take centuries to degrade. Hence, popular personalities across the world are making efforts to combat this problem and are encouraging people to go plastic-free and adopt a sustainable lifestyle.

Prince Harry is one of them. UK media outlets, quoting the Prince’s close friend Argentinian polo player Nacho Figueras, have reported that the Duke of Sussex is making conscious efforts to cut down on his plastic use and actually requests hotels he stays in to use minimum plastic.

Recalling a time he and Harry stayed a night at a hotel before a game, Figueras said, “He talked to a person at the hotel and said, ‘This morning I got my coffee and I saw that you have a plastic thing on the coffee. And then I also sent my shirt and I got my shirt in a big plastic bag.”

Looks like Harry is borrowing a page from wife Meghan’s book. The Duchess follows an eco-friendly lifestyle and in fact, a lot of her fashion is also sustainable.

Not only the Prince but Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also announced a ban on single-use plastics in Canada. The leader of the state said that Canada will ban single-use plastics as early as 2021 and the specific items to be banned will be determined based on a science-based review, but the government is considering items such as water bottles, plastic bags and straws.

Trudeau asserted that the issue of plastic pollution is a “global challenge” and that everyone should play an active role in combating it.

Moreso, even our neighbours are taking the initiative to end plastic pollution. A village in the east India state of Assam, where people are too poor to pay school fees, is educating children free of cost as long as they bring 25 recyclable plastic items.

Pakistanis are also making efforts to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle, albeit on a micro-level. Here are some tips from The Green Gang Pakistan on how to use less plastic:

  • New study claims sleeping with light on can cause weight gain in women

New study claims sleeping with light on can cause weight gain in women

Women who sleep with the television or a light on in the bedroom may be more likely to gain weight, a new study has claimed.

The research conducted a survey of almost 44,000 US women, with a follow-up five years later. The women in the study were classified according to their level of exposure to artificial light at night (ALAN) which came from a variety of sources, from small nightlights or clock radios to light shining in from the street to televisions or room lights.

One of the key findings was that women who slept with a television or a light on in the room were 17 percent more likely to have gained five kilograms (11 pounds) or more during the study period.

Authors suggested that the light may be suppressing the production of melatonin, thereby disruption circadian rhythm and eating patterns.

Other possibilities were that light acts as a “chronic stressor” disrupting the release of stress hormones such as glucocorticoids that play a part in regulating food intake, or that there may be another mechanism at work that affects metabolism directly.

The authors acknowledged several limitations including that the data was self-reported and they did not know how intense various light sources were.

High light exposure may also “reflect a constellation of measures of socioeconomic disadvantage and unhealthy lifestyle behaviours, all of which could contribute to weight gain and obesity.”

A professor of Chronobiology at the University of Surrey in Britain agreed with the finding saying, “To maintain good sleep hygiene, avoid light and electronic distractions in the bedroom.”
