Indian extremists angered by lions named ‘Akbar’ and ‘Sita’

Hindutva extremism has penetrated into every aspect of Indian life, including zoos.

Extremist organisation, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), has filed a case against keeping a lion named Akbar and another named Sita in the same cage in West Bengal.

The lions brought to the West Bengal Safari Park were named by the management.

The Hindu organisation says that the authorities have hurt their religious sentiments by the two animals being housed together because they have names coming from different religions.

The VHP has filed a petition against the forest department in the Kolkata High Court, which will be heard on February 20.

  • Dead politicians come back to life for Indian elections

Dead politicians come back to life for Indian elections

Dead Indian politicians are coming back to life with the help of artificial intelligence as the election is around the corner in the country.

As election campaigns are underway, certain political contenders are resorting to resurrecting dead politicians to appeal to the public. In January, M Karunanidhi, Indian writer and politician, made an appearance during a live assembly via projected screen, and congratulated his “82-year-old friend and fellow politician” TR Baalu on the launch of his autobiographical book.

Karunanidhi, who died in 2018, has been resurrected thrice as of yet.

Deep fake speeches have also been used to highlight his son’s achievements, MK Stalin, who is leading the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party.

This development raises profound questions about the ethical and legal implications of using AI to resurrect deceased individuals and ascribe opinions to them.

The decision to utilise AI for elections has multiple downsides such as lack of authenticity, ethics etc.

  • Indian actor says Pakistani content is better than Indian content

Indian actor says Pakistani content is better than Indian content

Pakistani TV shows are getting more and more popular worldwide, and especially across the border in India. All our hit shows are not just avidly followed here but also across the border. Indian TV channels and media might just be fretting that their own shows aren’t as popular as they used to be.
Indian actor Sushant Singh recently talked to the media about this. “Our neighbouring country, Pakistan, who we usually see as our enemy, is making amazing TV shows. Just look at their shows and then look at ours. What are we giving to the people? Why are we making low-quality shows? When people criticize our shows, why aren’t we trying to improve? Are we going to keep making the same kind of shows? What message are we sending to actors and viewers — to watch our shows or to stop watching because we won’t change? Don’t we want to get better? We’ve made great shows despite tough conditions, and we should keep striving for better quality,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of actors’ voices being heard.

People across Pakistan are showing support for their Kashmiri brothers and sisters’ fight against human rights abuses in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) by observing Kashmir Solidarity Day on Monday.

The Ministry of Kashmir Affairs issued a press release, stating that they have made all necessary arrangements to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day.

The ministry is organising solidarity walks all over the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir. In Islamabad, a rally on Constitution Avenue showed support for the Kashmiri people.

A minute of silence was also observed at 9:30am to pay homage to the martyrs of Kashmir.

“Posters and billboards have been displayed around important Avenves, airports, and railway stations to highlight the plight of Kashmiri people,” said the statement.

Additionally, educational institutions across the country have arranged debate and declamation contests along with essay writing competitions for the occasion.

President Dr Arif Alvi has said that the right to self-determination is a cardinal principle of international law, but regrettably, the Kashmiri people have not been able to exercise this inalienable right.

Which wish of Javed Sheikh’s was promptly granted by Shah Rukh Khan?

We knew Shah Rukh is the badshah of Bollywood but did you know, even Lollywood actors love him?

Veteran actor Javed Sheikh recently shared that on the set of the movie ‘Om Shanti Om,’ he made a request to Shah Rukh Khan, which was promptly fulfilled.

Discussing his collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan, Javed Sheikh said, “Shah Rukh Khan was my ‘smoking buddy’ during the filming.”
He explained that during the shoot of ‘Om Shanti Om,’ there were two rules on the set – no photography and no smoking. Special arrangements were made for Shah Rukh Khan, with a table and an ashtray for cigarettes.
Recalling his interaction with the Bollywood king on set, Javed Sheikh said, “When I met Shah Rukh Khan during the film shoot, he hugged me and offered assistance, saying, ‘If you need anything on the set, let me know.’ I expressed my preference for smoking and explained that I have to go out for it. Upon my request, Shah Rukh Khan immediately arranged for a table and placed an ashtray.”

‘Om Shanti Om’ was released in 2007, featuring actress Deepika Padukone alongside Shah Rukh Khan.

Poonam Pandey slammed on social media for faking death

    Poonam Pandey is not dead!

Yes, yes, we are surprised too.

The Bollywood actress and model has revealed that the shocking news of her death was a planned campaign to fovus attention on the important issue of cervical cancer.

In a video posted on her Instagram today, the 32-year-old actress said, “I’m alive and well, I didn’t die of cervical cancer.”

Poonam apologized to her fans who were genuinely upset by the false news of her death. People on social media criticized the unusual way of raising awareness about cervical cancer, and there are calls for legal action against her.

In a series of videos, Pandey passionately talked about the importance of being aware of cervical cancer and how it can be prevented through early vaccination. She asked people to take the matter seriously, saying that awareness and vaccination can save lives. Although she acknowledged the extreme nature of her approach, she claimed it successfully started important conversations about the often overlooked disease.

Actress and producer Ekta Kapoor expressed disapproval and suggested legal action, calling it a “wasteful campaign.” Kapoor emphasized the need for responsible and meaningful initiatives for cancer awareness.

The controversy began on January 2 when Poonam Pandey’s manager announced her death on Instagram, claiming she was in the last stage of cervical cancer. This led to condolences and doubts about the news, with some suspecting a possible hacking of the actress’s account.
Despite the criticism and calls for legal consequences, Pandey stands by her decision. Her fabricated demise has sparked a nationwide debate on the appropriate methods for raising awareness about critical health issues.

  • Anti-Pakistan Indian film ‘Fighter’ flops

    Anti-Pakistan Indian film ‘Fighter’ flops

    Karma is a queen!

Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and actress Deepika Padukone’s anti-Pakistan film ‘Fighter’ has flopped.

According to Indian media reports, ‘Fighter’, which was released on January 25, did excellent business in the initial days, but gradually the film’s rule at the box office weakened.

The reports further state that the film has practically flopped on the fifth day of its release, with business dropping by 70-80 per cent after entering the 200 crore club on the fourth day.
Indian film analysts say that despite having anti-Pakistan content, the film failed to attract a large number of viewers.

Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone play squadron leaders of the Indian Air Force, while Anil Kapoor depicts their commanding officer.

We’d feel bad for them, but hey, this is payback for propaganda.

  • Suspected Chinese spy pigeon released by India after 8 months of investigation

Suspected Chinese spy pigeon released by India after 8 months of investigation

A pigeon that spent eight months in Indian police custody has been released after it was finally cleared of being a suspected Chinese spy.

The bird was caught at a port in the financial capital Mumbai with “messages written in a Chinese-like script” on its wings, the Times of India newspaper reported.

“Initially, the police had registered a case of spying against the bird, but after completing their inquiry, they dropped the charge,” the report added.

The unnamed bird was held under lock and key at a city hospital while police carried out an investigation.

That probe took an “astonishing eight months”, the India office of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) said in a Thursday statement.

PETA India said police had granted “formal permission for the hospital to release the pigeon” on Wednesday.

Local media reports said the bird fluttered away in good health.

The pigeon is the latest of several detained by Indian authorities on suspicion of espionage.

Border security officers took a pigeon into custody in 2016 after it was found carrying a threatening message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi close to India’s border with arch-rival Pakistan.

In 2020, police in Indian-controlled Kashmir released a pigeon belonging to a Pakistani fisherman after a probe found that the bird, which had flown across the heavily militarized border between the nuclear-armed nations, was not a spy.
