Shaniera Akram may have moved to Pakistan after she married cricket legend Wasim Akram, but she’s made a strong mark in the country, being a more responsible citizen than any of us. Shaniera is often seen working towards social causes be it for children, animals or for the environment. Shaniera has now used her voice to highlight the terrible condition of Karachi’s Clifton Beach.
Taking to social media, Shaniera posted several pictures and videos of the beach littered with medical waste, syringes, and vials of blood, calling on authorities to close down the beach for the public until it is safe.
Medical waste, syringes, viles of blood that has come in from the ocean has spread across Clifton beach for kilometres. The beach is biohazardous and in a state of emergency
“I have walked on Clifton beach every day for the last 4 years and I have never been scared until today. This beach needs to be shut down now,” Shaniera asserted.
I have walked on Clifton beach everyday for the last 4 years and I have never been scared until today. This beach needs to be shut down now
I have stayed silent for too long. Every tv channel needs to be running this now. You have a duty of care to protect the lives of the people of Karachi and tell them Clifton beach, as it stands, is totally unsafe for anyone!
Why is the beach still open? For me,This is not a blame game this is a “we need to act now”problem & close the beach. I don’t want to be in this position but I have no choice peoples lives are at stake and I was faced with a moral obligation. People needed to know about this
Shaniera urged Karachiites to abstain from visiting and cleaning the beach since it is hazardous for the people.
DO NOT go to the beach and try to clean it, this is biohazardous waste and needs to be a restricted area and cleaned by professionals. The sea and beach needs to be declared unsafe for everyone immediately
I have found over 4 dozen open syringes in the last 10 minutes. This is a biohazard and our beach needs to be closed down until the proper authorities can guarantee the people of Karachi are safe. This has gone on long enough, peoples lives are at risk
Following Shaniera’s protest and outrage on Twitter, the Sindh Police took to social media to announce that the police have cordoned off the affected area and imposed Section 144.
The Prime Minister’s Focal Person Babar Bin Atta announced the launch of a first-ever WhatsApp helpline where people can ask questions about the polio program, report on children missed out on anti-polio campaigns in any part of the country and can also lodge complaints.
Taking to the twitter, he wrote:
Another First Ever by Pakistan Polio Programme. 24/7 WhatsApp Polio Helpline. Any question ? Missed children ? Misconceptions? Complaints ? We are at your service with just a simple WhatsApp message. 0346 – 7776546. pic.twitter.com/aFC2ombPZa
Soon after the tweet, he again tweeted, “Dear brothers & sisters this is a WhatsApp text helpline, since my tweet, there is a flurry of calls on the number. Please do not call, just send your query via WhatsApp Text”

Want to work from home but don’t know how to convince your employer? Use this Harvard Business Review article to tell them that you’ll be more productive from home.
According to the research, working from home can increase productivity by a whopping 13 percent. They studied a Chinese travel agency where call center employees were allowed to work from home.
In other case studies, research shows that examiners for government offices could increase their work output by 4.4 percent when allowed to work from where they wanted while maintaining the quality of work. This increased annual value by $1.3 billion.
Older employees, like to live in cities that have a slower pace of life and an option of working from home could encourage these employees to stay in the workforce for longer.
Aamir Liaqat and Adnan Sami are among those people who are always in the news because of their controversial comments. The two recently came face to face on Twitter and the end result is cringe and hilarious at the same time.
It all started when a Twitter user tweeted to ask Abhinandan if the tea was fantastic.
Aamir Bhai was not having any of that so he decided to set the facts right.
Yes.. He went… shot his identity and spit on the graves of his forefathers had a betrayal drink.. got hatred from Pakistan .., Fool https://t.co/zOe6MTH4Rb
This did not go down well with Adnan Sami, who responded with a tweet that only he understood.
Only a pimple of an existence like that would derive this from it’s unimaginative pedestrian molecule of a mind which is why you lead a pathetic life eating off others name in order to seek validation of your otherwise non consequential self!Enjoy!😄 https://t.co/mF7Mt7fCyG
Turns out Aamir was able to make some sense of Adnan’s tweet, so he fired back with an equally fiery tweet.
Only an abcess filled with the pus of hatred and narcissism would’ve to write gibberish all the time to seek validation & prove his patriotism all the time, your TL is more about Pakistan than your ownself so we all know who is living a pathetic life.I know you’re undercover 🤫 https://t.co/BvPOoS1M4g
One would have thought that after the two called each other pimples, things would have settled. But no. Adnan decided he had not had enough so he posted another tweet, which he later deleted. But Aamir’s reply is still there.
We wonder why Aamir Bhai called Adnan “my frustrated eunuch!”
My frustrated eunuch!Actually you’re the breaking out of a rash on mucous membrane, disease is incurable, you are suffering from Identity crisis that’s why doing weird things.I don’t know which part of your body is suffering from pimple kapadia &why she is erupting again and again? https://t.co/DxQxYBsuKv
The world’s third-richest man Warren Buffett turned 89 on Friday. Here are five valuable pieces of advice on how to be successful from the investing legend himself.
Marry the right person
According to Buffett, the most important decision of your life is choosing your life partner.
At the 2009 Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting, Buffett said, “Marry the right person. I’m serious about that. It will make more difference in your life. It will change your aspirations, all kinds of things.”
Invest in yourself
“By far the best investment you can make is in yourself,” Buffett says.
“Take care of your body and mind — especially when you’re young…You get exactly one mind and one body in this world, and you can’t start taking care of it when you’re 50. By that time, you’ll rust it out if you haven’t done anything.”
Associate yourself with ‘high-grade people’
“One of the best things you can do in life is to surround yourself with people who are better than you are,” Buffet said in 2015. He explained that when you’re around people better than yourself, you’ll start acting more like them. Conversely, if you hang around with people who behave worse than you, you’ll start being pulled in that direction.
Work for people you respect
“Try to work for whomever you admire most,” Buffett says.
Buffett says that while salary is an important factor when thinking about your career, you shouldn’t go for a job just for the money. It is also important to consider the experience you’ll gain from it.
Success isn’t measured by money
Despite being one of the richest people in the world, Buffett doesn’t use wealth as a measure of success. For him, it all comes down to relationships and love.
“Being given unconditional love is the greatest benefit you can ever get,” Buffett told MBA students in a 2008 talk.

Breathtaking is what everyone is calling the new, open to the public, Samandar Lake. So when the Minai family decided to take a weekend trip from Islamabad to see the now-famous lake, they planned their day around it.
The Minai family at Gali’s End, Nathiagali
They stayed at Gali’s End, a renowned retreat at the end of Nathiagali. A trek up to the cottages, the view was the definition of breathtaking.
Enjoying a cup of tea on a perfect summer day
The rooms were decent, the view gorgeous. It was almost like living in a cottage in a European country and since it was a trek up, it is secluded from the rest of the small city. If anyone needs a break, its the place to go so you can get away from the world. The only con was that the bathrooms were older and had not been renovated.
View from a room in Gali’s End
A perfectly cloudy day, they took the 45 minute drive down to Barra Gali. Google Maps wasn’t as effective as expected, and they got lost, stumbling upon a beautiful stream to dip your feet in.

Stand in the Stream
They asked the locals around, where is this Samundar Katha lake? Don’t go there, said the locals. Your car won’t be able to take the drive down and it’s seriously not worth it. Not worth it? PTI Official’s pictures say otherwise.

Ignoring their advice, they took their car down to the lake car park area where they were told they had to walk the rest of the way or take a Mehran to the lake. The locals were right. There wasn’t a set road so taking a normal Corolla would ruin the car. They paid a guy 1000 rupees to sit in the back of a Mehran and went to the lake that everyone was talking about and found:

Lake View
Lots of cars, a small lake with boats and zip-lining. The boats didn’t make any sense. The lake was so small, you could only go round and round the lake and get seriously dizzy in the process. The zip-lining looked like fun but was such a short line, it didn’t hold much appeal either.
Zip-lining at Samundar lake
And the view? The stream they had stumbled upon was more beautiful – and free. On the way back to their car, they got stuck in a traffic jam.
Not a great time.
Bummed, they went to Nathiagali bazaar to the famous Taj Mahal restaurant for Patakha chicken. The fried whole chicken, with its perfect masala made the trip up North worth it.

So, will they go back again? To Nathiagali, yes. To Samundar Lake? Definitely not. They might have if it wasn’t so difficult to get there. The views along the way are a lot more beautiful but getting to the lake is 100 percent not worth the hassle.
The Ministry of Science and Technology, under the patronage of Fawad Chaudhry, has launched its own mineral bottled water, Safe Drinking Water, for Rs 1/litre. However, this water is only available to government offices.
Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that the step has been taken keeping in mind the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf government’s austerity measures. This bottled water will provide a cheaper alternative to the mineral water that is currently available.
The minister also shared that the Pakistan Council of Research and Water Reserves has so far prepared 500 ml bottles of the water.
The water is expected to be served to officials at PM Office, President House, GHQ and Parliament House first, before being distributed to other ministries. After that, they will be available to the public. The minister aims to provide people with cheap and safe drinking water.
We’ve all grown up watching Hollywood movies in which Chinese takeouts are the thing. And let’s be honest, we’ve all secretly wanted that. Though most Chinese and Pan Asian restaurants in Lahore offer takeaways and deliveries, they rarely offer single servings which is why you usually have to think twice before placing an order.
Enter NOI-Stir Fry Kitchen – an Asian Stir Fry Kitchen which has been creating waves on social media and all the food groups. After reading some fabulous reviews on their dishes, I gave in to my temptation and placed an order. Considering their prices were also comparatively reasonable, I didn’t need any more convincing.
From the 16 gravy options they have, I tried their Crispy Honey Sirachi, Sweet and Sour Manchurian, Mixed Mushrooms Teriyaki and Hot BBQ Shashlik and am happy to report that not one of them let me down.
All dishes are single servings and come with a side of plain steamed Asian rice packaged in a paper carton. The food was delivered piping hot in small black plastic containers and it was good to see that their serving size was pretty good – it was more than enough for a person. The quantity of vegetables in each dish was also impressive and they were well-cooked.
My favourite from the options has to be the Mixed Mushrooms Teriyaki and Sweet and Sour Manchurian. Most of us Pakistanis are used to eating saucy Manchurian which tastes like ketchup mixed with chicken. But Noi’s Manchurian was neither saucy nor ketchupy – it was just like the name suggested – perfectly balanced between sweet and sour. The Mixed Mushroom Teriyaki also had a similar flavour but with a stronger Ginger flavour. The mushrooms in this dish were delicious – they were better than anything else and I would order this dish for the mushroom alone next time.
Meanwhile, the Crispy Honey Siracha was extremely spicy and literally puts your mouth on fire. What I didn’t like about it was how it was barely crispy and the taste of honey was hardly detectable.

Nonetheless, given the quantity, taste and price, Noi is highly recommended. Their kitchen is open 5:30 pm onwards till late night but they are usually sold out long before closing time. Best is to place your order ahead of time so that you don’t end up disappointed.
Your friend’s wedding is coming up or you are going to attend some official dinner or meeting, most of the men would choose to wear a smart classy suit. You may think you look like a Hollywood star in your suit, but chances are you’ve made one of these four common mistakes.
Off-the-rack suits
Suits are meant to be custom-made. They should never be purchased off the rack. No matter how perfectly an off-the-rack suit fits you, it will still have its flaws. Attention to detail is very important. If you are getting a suit tailor-stitched, make sure that you ask him to keep the following just right:
Sleeves: When it comes to sleeves, you should be able to see anything from a quarter to an inch of your shirtsleeve under the jacket.
Pants: It is very important to get your trousers altered just right to hit your ankles to flatter the sockless look.
Wearing belts with suits
Belts were never meant to be worn with a suit. Belt hoops were later added on when off-the-rack suits started to hit it off. Your pants are meant to be stitched and tailored according to your measurements. If you still need help holding them up, then you can go for side tab adjusters or suspender buttons on the inside.
The second button should be undone
The second button on your suit should always remain undone. Only the top button in your suit is fastened while standing, it cuts a smoother shape and shows that you pay attention to detail. Not only that, fastening the bottom button will add an extra five kilograms to your hips as an illusion.
Avoid too many accessories
The idea of getting dressed up is to look as elegant without adding anything extra like tie pins, broaches, bracelets or even rings. They completely depreciate the focus from the suit itself. Hence, keep accessories minimum. You can wear a tie and pocket square, which complements the suit and enhances your overall look.
