Nameer Khan started acting after seeing earnings from ads

Actor Nameer Khan recently revealed that he used to work in the IT sector, but decided to switch careers after seeing how much he earned from just one day of working in an advertisement.

In a candid conversation on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Nameer shared some memorable and humorous moments from his life. “I was working as a software engineer when I got the idea to try modeling. I submitted my portfolio to an agency, and after some time, I got an offer for a Coca-Cola ad. Sajal Aly and Momina Mustehsan were also part of it. After that shoot, my mindset completely changed.”

He explained that the earnings from just one advertisement shocked him, especially when compared to his regular IT job. “I compared the income from that one-day shoot to my full-time job and I was stunned. I thought, it is an injustice to software engineers. We work so hard, yet don’t earn that kind of money. And most of all… I actually enjoyed doing it.”

“That’s when I decided this is what I want to do,” he added.

Nameer also recalled a frightening yet funny incident from his days living in Model Town, Lahore. “We used to play late-night cricket with friends. One night, as three of us were getting ready to play, six guys on three bikes showed up.” He said the men demanded mobile phones and wallets, but since they had nothing on them, the robbers beat them up badly before leaving.

“That’s Lahore for you,” Nameer joked. “But Karachi is different, thieves there rob you with respect.”

Speaking about his background, Nameer shared that he is still pursuing his Master’s degree from Canada, and had no plans of acting until this surprising twist in his life. “This industry is truly amazing,” he added. “It’s not just about the money, I found something I genuinely enjoy doing.”

Nameer Khan gained recognition through his versatile performance in the drama Qarz e Jaan with Yumna Zaidi on Hum TV. Currently, he is earning acclaim for his powerful portrayal of Shamrez in Main Manto Nahi Hoon.

Humayun Saeed once took a daring adventure to catch a glimpse of a girl

Pakistani actor and producer Humayun Saeed has shared a string of amusing, emotional, and surprising stories from his childhood and early adult life, tales that reveal a lesser-known, more relatable side of the superstar.

Humayun recently appeared on the comedy talk show Hasna Mana Hai, where he recalled pretending to tutor his cousin at his uncle’s house, only to spend time standing on the rooftop for an entirely different reason. “I would make an excuse to go teach my cousin, but right after the lesson, I’d go up to the rooftop,” he laughed. Eventually, neighbors and even his uncle caught on. “My uncle told my father, ‘He comes here to teach, but he’s doing something else!’” he joked.

Things took a serious turn when his father confronted him about the situation. “He asked me directly, and I lied. But then I got such a slap that I ran down from the seventh floor, and I could still hear the echo of that slap,” he said. “My father didn’t like lies, he wanted me to tell the truth.”

In a past interview, Humayun shared how short-tempered his father was and that he never wanted to become like him because of his intense temper.

In another humorous yet touching anecdote, Saeed described how he once followed the same girl he had seen at a wedding, and she was older than him, whom he had fallen for at first sight. “I found out she was traveling to Hyderabad with her family, so I went to the station just to see her face again,” he said. But things didn’t end there. “When the train started moving, I felt like I hadn’t seen her enough… so I jumped onto the train at the last minute, several coaches behind.”

His mission wasn’t as smooth as he had imagined. “There was a wall blocking the way forward inside the train. I thought, ‘Now I’ll go all the way to Hyderabad and she won’t even know.’” Eventually, when the train slowed near Rohri, he made a daring leap from one coach to another, drawing attention from passengers who thought he had fallen. “People started reaching out to help me, thinking I had slipped, but I made it on board and finally walked past her. She looked so shocked to see me!” he laughed.

Saeed also shared that his first profession was teaching. “At 16 or 17, I used to give tuitions to primary school kids. I taught all subjects, mostly math, and used to go to four or five places a day to teach,” he revealed.

When asked whether he’s more like his serious characters, such as the one in Main Manto nahi Hoon, or romantic ones like in Love Guru, Saeed responded: “I’m a mix of both, a bit of Manto, a bit of Love Guru.”

One of the most entertaining stories came when he recalled his 1992 trip to India. While traveling by train, he asked the staff to play a cassette he had brought along, which was a compilation of songs by the iconic band Vital Signs. “I loved their songs, especially back then. But the last track on one side was Dil Dil Pakistan,” he chuckled.

That moment quickly turned tense. “The whole train echoed with Dil Dil Pakistan, and I didn’t have a visa for Delhi. I and my friend were pretending to be Indian citizens. When the cassette finished and that song played, a crew member came around asking whose tape it was. I just sat quietly and prayed they wouldn’t find out it was mine.”

On the work front, he revealed that Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 3 will be shot in Vegas, America.

  • Feroze Khan says account was hacked after deleted Instagram story asked his wife not to return home

Feroze Khan says account was hacked after deleted Instagram story asked his wife not to return home

Pakistani actor Feroze Khan, no stranger to public controversy, has once again found himself in the spotlight after an Instagram post announcing the end of his marriage to Dr. Zainab went viral only to be deleted shortly afterwards, with the actor claiming his account was hacked.

The now-deleted post, which circulated widely on social media before its removal, accused Dr. Zainab of blackmail and psychological pressure, stating, “I’m simply forced and blackmailed to be in a relationship… After my mother was abused and so was my sister the relationship died for me.” The post further alleged attempts to alienate Khan from his family and children, ending with a dramatic appeal: “Don’t come back home, thank you… I am sure my fans would trust me.”

However, in a follow-up, Khan denied authoring the statement, claiming his account had been compromised. “Was hacked.”

This latest incident adds to a growing list of personal controversies involving the Khaani star. In 2022, Khan’s high-profile divorce from his former wife Alizey Sultan made headlines, particularly after she accused him of domestic abuse. Khan has consistently denied the claims.

Despite the backlash, Khan maintained a steady presence in the entertainment industry, appearing in multiple hit dramas and films, often portraying intense or conflicted characters, with viewers fixed on the mirroring of his increasingly volatile off-screen persona.

In recent years, the actor has also been embroiled in disputes with fellow celebrities, including a public spat with singer Muneeb Butt and superstar Hania Aamir, who have called out his alleged toxic behavior.

The latest controversy has again raised questions about Khan’s personal life. In the alleged post, he admitted to seeking mental health treatment and taking medication, saying what’s “killing me is someone is making me look like an a**hole to my own people.”

Neither Dr. Zainab nor her representatives have publicly responded to the accusations or the hacking claim. Social media, meanwhile, remains flooded with speculation, with fans and critics weighing in on the actor’s turbulent personal life.

  • Shamoon Abbasi says his name was omitted from Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi writing credits

Shamoon Abbasi says his name was omitted from Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi writing credits

The ongoing horror-comedy drama Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi has garnered praise from audiences for its refreshing take on an experimental genre. However, a controversy has surfaced surrounding the creative ownership of the show. Actor and filmmaker Shamoon Abbasi has publicly claimed that the story, screenplay, and even the title of the serial were originally his creation, yet he was not given any official credit.

In a detailed Instagram post, Abbasi revealed that he conceptualized Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi with the intention of directing it himself. He stated that he developed the story from scratch, dictated the scenes and plotlines to a writer, and worked on the screenplay for four months. Despite this, the official credits list Syed Nabeel as the writer, with no mention of Abbasi’s contributions.

“Would like to thank all the audiences around the world that are liking my serial Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi (title also given by me), as well as my story and screenplay. The serial is being liked by a large audience,” Abbasi wrote.

He went on to express disappointment over the lack of acknowledgment, emphasizing that even the script copies distributed to the cast have his name written on them. “I wish the creators had the courtesy to mention my name… if not now as the director who created this amazing project to direct it, but at least as the screenplay writer,” he said.

Abbasi made it clear that his post was not meant to start a feud but to raise awareness about the situation. “This post is for awareness purposes only. It’s not a fight or challenge to anyone who wants to pick a fight, mind it! Because if that was the case, I have all the rights and evidence to provide in multiple ways,” he added.

Despite the dispute, Abbasi expressed satisfaction that his concept resonated with viewers and brought a much-needed change to what he described as a “stale, stinky drama industry.”

“JKSUKS is my thought and it proves that my stories are connecting with the audiences. Alhamdulillah,” he concluded.

As of now, the producers of Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi and the credited writer Syed Nabeel have not responded to Abbasi’s claims.

  • ‘Never invested a rupee’; Shazia, Wajahat Rauf deny son Aashir is a nepo baby

‘Never invested a rupee’; Shazia, Wajahat Rauf deny son Aashir is a nepo baby

Celebrity producer-director duo Shazia Wajahat and Wajahat Rauf have strongly denied claims that their son Aashir Wajahat benefited from nepotism in the Pakistani entertainment industry.

In a candid conversation on a recent podcast, the couple opened up about the online criticism their son has faced, asserting that they have “never invested a single rupee” in his career.

“There was this helplessness because I was being restricted from replying to trolls,” Shazia said, addressing the public perception that Aashir’s success was handed to him due to his parents’ influence. “People used to say its nepotism and his dad must have done everything for him. But we knew he was doing it all on his own.”

Wajahat Rauf echoed his sentiments, revealing that Aashir had been financially independent from a young age. “He used to do advertisements for big companies as a child. By collecting that money, he made his own music videos costing around 1 to 1.5 lakh rupees. We never funded them. In fact, we were busy with our dramas. I’ve never called anyone to get him a role or a music project.”

He further clarified that no industry peer can claim that Wajahat Rauf ever made a call to get Aashir a role. “No one can come and say Wajahat called them to shoot a song or cast him in a film. That just didn’t happen.”

Wajahat shared how Aashir created his early music videos on a shoestring budget. “Some videos were shot at his grandmother’s house. Washed clothes were hanging in the background. The girl in the video was his friend and didn’t even charge him. That’s how he started.”

He added that Aashir has received both appreciation and trolling for his music, particularly referencing his hit song Ranjhna, which gained popularity. “Some songs were loved, some were not. A man learns from his mistakes.”

The couple opened up about their concern for their son’s emotional well-being in the face of intense public scrutiny. “We were very upset and concerned about Aashir,” Wajahat said. “We worried about whether he could handle the criticism. I was afraid he might break down.”

Addressing the source of public skepticism, Wajahat explained: “People see a 17-year-old uploading pictures with Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Dananeer, and Imran Ashraf, and they wonder, ‘What’s so special about him?’ They think these kids are born with silver spoons. But what they don’t see is the struggle behind the scenes. Aashir never defends himself, but he used to sit outside studios for hours, waiting.”

Wajahat also pointed out that nepotism does not guarantee success in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. “This isn’t India. You don’t automatically get work because your parents are famous. Aashir has done four films—two of them weren’t even mine. John and Na Baligh Afraad weren’t our productions. He has also done PTV telefilms and other projects.”

Shazia shared the story of how Aashir was cast in the film John, entirely on his own merit. “We didn’t even know who Babar, the writer-director, was. One day, Aashir told us he had been offered the lead role in a film. We were shocked,” she said. “He said Saleem Mairaj was also part of it. I later confirmed with Saleem bhai, and he said, ‘Yes, this boy Babar brought a great script and I agreed to work on it.’ Aashir had even shot an audition on the set of Raqs-e-Bismil without our knowledge.”

Despite her desire to publicly defend her son’s struggles, Shazia said her family discouraged her from speaking out. “I wanted to say so much about what he went through, but my family stopped me. They said it wasn’t worth it.”

Aashir Wajahat is a Pakistani actor, singer, and content creator known for his early start in showbiz. He began his career as a child actor in commercials and gradually transitioned into films and music. He has appeared in four films, including Karachi Se Lahore, Chhalawa, Na Baligh Afraad, and John. Notably, John marked his first lead role in a non-family production.

As a singer, Aashir gained widespread attention with his song Ranjhna, which became popular among youth audiences. He has also released several other songs, including Tutti Frutti, Sadqay, and Jo Tu Na Mila (cover), experimenting across genres and styles.

Following the release of John and a Ramzan special drama, “Aashir has taken a complete break from acting and music, with no current projects announced,” shared Shazia.

  • Yasir Hussain takes a dig at Haris Rauf over viral hand gesture during India clash

Yasir Hussain takes a dig at Haris Rauf over viral hand gesture during India clash

The high-voltage cricket match between arch-rivals Pakistan and India has now spiraled into a storm of controversy, not over cricketing performance, but a fiery gesture that has the subcontinent buzzing.

Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf found himself in the eye of a media hurricane after responding to jeering Indian fans during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours clash with a set of hand gestures that quickly went viral.

In a moment that has split the internet and ignited debate on both sides of the border, Rauf first flashed “6-0” with his fingers — a reference to the number of Indian planes downed by the Pakistan Air Force in May’s military clashes. He then followed it up with a theatrical gesture mimicking a fighter jet soaring and crashing.

The act drew roaring cheers from many Pakistani fans on social media, with even Defence Minister Khawaja Asif chiming in on X to applaud the cricketer.

But not everyone was impressed, least of all actor-director Yasir Hussain, who took to Instagram with a fiery rebuke.

Taking to Instagram stories, he wrote, “Brother, that’s the Pakistan Air Force’s credit, let them have it.” “Your job is to play cricket — which, frankly, you’re not doing well.”

In a previous post, he urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to suspend matches for a year and instead focus entirely on retraining and rebuilding the national squad, a statement that stirred the pot even further.

Meanwhile, Indian media has erupted in fury, slamming Rauf’s behavior as “unsportsmanlike” and “provocative”. Some even called for a total boycott of cricketing ties with Pakistan.

On Sunday, Pakistan scored 171 runs while batting first. India began their chase with an aggressive start but stumbled midway, losing four wickets in quick succession. However, steady middle-order batting guided India to a six-wicket win, securing the victory with seven balls to spare.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Ayesha Omar says Lazawal Ishq ‘is not a dating show’

EXCLUSIVE: Ayesha Omar says Lazawal Ishq ‘is not a dating show’

Pakistani actress and model Ayesha Omar has firmly denied reports that her upcoming Urdu-language reality programme Lazawal Ishq is a dating show.

In an exclusive conversation with The Current, Omar addressed the growing controversy and backlash surrounding the show’s concept, particularly on social media, and clarified that the show’s intention had been misrepresented by several media outlets.

“Some news outlets are claiming that I said it is a Pakistani dating show but that’s not true. Not once did I say it is a dating show,” Ayesha said, emphasising that the show was not inspired by Western dating formats such as Love Island.

She clarified that it was centered on meaningful communication and long-term relationship building aimed at marriage. “Yes, the promo has been getting all kinds of feedback and speculation. [But] it is not a dating show at all. It is not about dating… it is about finding a life partner for marriage.”

Omar elaborated that while the format involved participants living in a villa, the setup respected cultural values with gender-segregated floors and separate dorms.

“It is a Turkish show, but as it is in Urdu language and for our audiences, it is in accordance with our norms, values and culture. These young adults are living in a villa but they will be having their own living spaces… they have their own dorms. A floor for girls is separate while a separate floor is assigned to the boys. They also have their own dressing spaces. Only the lounge, kitchen and the poolside are shared and that is where they will interact with each other.”

Omar also pointed out that similar formats have aired on Pakistani television before where young adults live in the same premises but maintain separate sleeping arrangements, and described Lazawal Ishq as an insightful social experiment focused on communication.

She said the show would revolve around interaction and verbal communication just like people get into at colleges, universities, parks or theaters. “Only this kind of interaction is being shown and actually, this is a very good experiment. This is an overview of how young people communicate, what mistakes they make or how they rectify them.”

On the format, she further said that no pre-decided couples were involved and relationships would form naturally as participants get to know each other with the ultimate goal being marriage.

“Couples are not already made by us. Those who are participating, after knowing each other through communication, will get into dedicated relationships for marriage and that is the premise of the show. The games they will be playing will be based on communication,” she said, adding that the show could serve as a valuable learning experience for young people in Pakistan.

Omar’s clarification comes after the show’s teaser revealed that Lazawal Ishq will feature four men and four women living together in a luxurious villa in Turkey, with their interactions, conflicts and emotional growth being recorded. She was seen in the teaser enjoying the scenic views and entering a lavish bungalow, describing the show as a search for eternal love and a reflection of emotional trials.

Lazawal Ishq will stream exclusively on YouTube and not be broadcast on traditional television. It is expected to run for approximately 100 episodes, featuring challenges, games, alliances and conflicts, ultimately leading to the selection of a “winning couple”.

The airing date is yet to be announced.

‘Battled hardships, fought for brother’s treatment’: Humayun Saeed opens up about bitter memories

Pakistani star actor and producer Humayun Saeed has shared his bitter memories, revealing that he battled many hardships in life.

In a recent interview, the Main Manto Nahi Hoon actor opened up about a difficult chapter from his early life. He shared that after his father stopped working, his younger brother suffered a fall that left him paralysed. At just 17 or 18 years old, Humayun became the sole breadwinner for his family.

“I had no idea what to do at that age,” he recalled, adding that he visited numerous hospitals in search of free treatment for his brother.

During those tough two to four years, he said, he took on various jobs to support his family. “I gave tuitions, worked in a factory and even tried to build connections in hospitals to get help for my brother’s treatment.”

He also revealed that his brother is still unable to walk and is undergoing treatment.

Humayun said that whenever he achieves success, he feels very close to Allah. “Whatever position I have reached today, I am thankful to Allah for it. In every success, I remember Allah more than the hardships I’ve faced.”

He added that even today, he holds Qur’an Khwani at home on every achievement and expresses gratitude for all the blessings Allah has bestowed upon him.

The actor also shared that he remains humble because he knows he was once nothing, and it was only Allah who elevated him to where he is now.

“I am still the same Humayun Saeed I was 35 years ago. I still stand the same way, and that part of my youth will always remain with me.”

Fahad Mustafa’s very unusual alternate career path will make you laugh

Renowned actor Fahad Mustafa recently appeared on The Knock Knock Show with Mohib Mirza, where he also discussed his career his career.

Mirza asked him what he would have done if he had not become an actor, to which Mustafa responded, “If I were not an actor, my father would have opened a biryani restaurant for me.”

  • ‘ELITE ordered from Daraz’: Trailer for ‘College Gate’ has the internet divided

On Wednesday, Green Entertainment has released the trailer for ‘College Gate’, an upcoming series about a group of students. Starring Instagram influencers like Mamia Shajaffar and Khaqan Shahnawaz, the series explores the lives of a group of students and how they tackle parental pressure, love, dating and learn to rely on their friends during the tough moments of their lives.

However, the trailer has divided the internet, with many users thinking that the series is just plagarised from hit Netflix shows like ‘Elite’ and ‘Class’.

TBH we have the same question on our mind.

Others pointed out that despite the fact that the trailer seemed a direct copy of a show about the lives of privileged kids, it did seem like a progressive step that Pakistani dramas were starting to focus on the lives of teenagers!

We can also agree that it’s good for Pakistani dramas to tackle societal pressure and the anxieties of students growing up in this stage, rather than churn out another series focusing on saas bahu conflicts and the satti vs slutty savitri trope.

So while we can agree with some folks on Twitter here that the storyline is completely unoriginal but lets not drop the ball so quickly? Pakistani dramas are in desperate need of some revival right now, and its good that some people with logical minds had actually thought about discussing what issues students are facing today.
