Sania Mirza opens up about her struggles

On International Women’s Day, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza opened up about her struggles in an interview with Rupha Ramani on Firstpost. She talked about her journey, from the highs and lows of her career to life after retiring.

Mirza reflected on retiring from tennis, saying, “I think I’ll lose my mind if I’m not busy, to be very honest. That’s how my life has been and, actually, one of the thoughts I had when I was retiring was like ‘oh my god’ and so many people would ask me, what are you gonna do now, and I had no plan and I was like ‘I actually don’t know.’”

Despite thinking she might slow down after retiring, Mirza found herself keeping busy with different things like the Women’s Premier League and covering the French Open. She’s grateful for living her dream, saying, “There’s a very few handful of people in this world who get to live their dream. And I feel very fortunate that I was able to do that.”

Mirza stressed the importance of loving what you do, not just for the money. “Nobody wakes up in the morning and says, I’m going to start this career. I want to do it so I can make a lot of money. That cannot be the sole goal for anybody.”

She also talked about the challenges of fame and scrutiny, saying, “It’s been very hard. Playing and succeeding or failing or whatever it is at what you do on a personal level is hard enough. When you put a public platform in it, you put media scrutiny in it…there’s so many things that go along with it.”

Mirza discussed growing up in the public eye, saying, “I became Sania Mirza when I was 16… I’ve lived more years as a known person to the world.” She emphasized the importance of being real and embracing imperfections in a world where social media plays a big role.

Following a fasting routine while managing daily life has taught Neelam a lot about herself.

Dr. Omer Adil says Fahad Mustafa is stressed-out

Dr. Omer Adil, popular television host has been collaborating with YouTuber Haseeb Khan on the channel Ganda Aanda, discussing social issues and media controversies.

In the one of his shows, he gave his analysis on Fahad Mustafa’s controversial statement on YouTubers.

“I don’t know why he gave this statement. Fahad Mustafa must be very stressed because he has been doing a show for many years. He hosts a game show where he has to shout for hours, bringing in families and using them for content. This show has become a big part of his life, and imagine how it affects someone doing it for so long; it must affect his mind. I’m not sure in what state of mind he made such a harsh statement, but you have to consider what he earns his wages through. He earns it after hours of shouting, which must have changed him. Also, the families involved seem to be okay with it.”

The doctor didn’t stop there, saying, “Let me tell you, both are right (YouTubers and Fahad Mustafa). An ordinary YouTuber is surviving through his family content. I know a family from a village in Punjab where the guy makes content with his wife. They introduce each family member as needed, and it’s how they earn money. People eagerly wait for their videos and love watching their content.” You can watch the video where Dr. Omar Adil supports YouTubers who earn a living through their quality content.

  • Squid Game star found guilty of sexual misconduct

Squid Game star found guilty of sexual misconduct

South Korea’s Squid Game actor O Yeong-su has been found guilty of sexual misconduct, a local court said Friday, after he was charged with assaulting a woman in 2017.

The 79-year-old in 2022 became the first South Korean to win a Golden Globe Award for best supporting actor in a series for his performance as a seemingly vulnerable old man in the mega-hit Netflix dystopian thriller.

The actor was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for two years, the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Court told AFP.

He has been also ordered to complete 40 hours of classes on sexual violence, the court added.

The victim’s own records of the assault and her claims are “consistent … and appear to be statements that cannot be made without actually experiencing them,” judge Jeong Yeon-ju said, according to the court.

O was indicted in 2022 without detention on charges of sexually assaulting a woman, who has not been identified, on two occasions.

The incidents took place when O was staying in a rural area for a theatre performance in 2017, on a walking path and in front of the victim’s residence, respectively, according to the Suwon District Court. Squid Game, a series that depicts a dark world where marginalised individuals are forced to compete in deadly versions of traditional children’s games, quickly gained immense popularity on
    Netflix.

Within less than four weeks of its release in 2021, it attracted a staggering 111 million viewers.

The show’s success has amplified South Korea’s increasingly outsized influence on global popular culture, following global fame won by the likes of K-pop band BTS and the Oscar-winning film Parasite.

Multiple figures in South Korea’s film industry — including late filmmaker Kim Ki-duk and actor Cho Jae-hyun — have faced sexual assault allegations.
