‘One more millimeter and….. paralysis’; Saif Ali Khan opens up about attack

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan has opened up about the stabbing attack that left him hospitalised after an intruder entered his home on January 16, leading to a violent confrontation.

The A-lister told an Indian publication that he and his wife Kareena Kapoor were sleeping in their room when a member of the house staff came running inside to warm them of an intruder in their younger son Jeh’s room.

Saif said that the attacker was wielding two knives and demanding money. When Saif attempted to subdue him, he retaliated by repeatedly stabbing the actor. “I couldn’t handle it after a while as there were two knives in action. I was praying that someone could get this guy off me,” Saif stated.

Finally the nanny Geeta managed to pull him back and then the two locked the attacker in Jeh’s room. However, he managed to escape from there.

Since no driver was available at the time, Saif took a rickshaw to reach Lelavati Hospital along with a house help named Hari and his young son Taimoor.

Inside the rickshaw, Taimoor, who had insisted on coming along, asked, “Are you going to die?” Saif replied, “No.”

At the hospital, the Nawab was told that his injuries were far more serious than he thought. Doctors told him that one knife had punctured his shoulder blade and come dangerously close to the spinal cord. “It came really close to being paralyzed. One more millimeter, and we’d be talking paralysis,” the actor narrated.

The star was surprised at the attacker missing his jugular, despite landing a knife on his neck: “I don’t understand how he missed my carotid artery and jugular vein… it’s not possible to cut somebody’s neck the way my neck is cut and not kill them.”

The Nawab of Pataudi said that though the attack left him with “30 of the most awful” scars, he was relieved that the attack had not left him with more serious injuries.

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan appeared hale and hearty at his first public appearance since getting stabbed last month at his Mumbai residence by an intruder wielding a knife.

Dressed in denim from top to bottom, Saif, 54, showed up at the Netflix announcement of his latest film Jewel Thief-The Heist Begins, his first time at an event since the January 16 attack.

He laughingly told the audience, “It feels very nice to be standing here in front of you.” The A-lister was still wearing the hand brace he has been donning since being discharged from the hospital. A bandage on the side of his neck was also a reminder of the six stab wounds that he sustained while battling the man who entered his son Jeh’s room.

Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins, is directed by Robbie Grewal and Kookie Gulati. Co-starring Jaideep Ahlawat, the film is being produced by Siddharth Anand and Mamta Anand under their banner Marflix Pictures.

Saif Ali Khan attack: Mumbai police’s false arrest costs man job, marriage

A wrongful arrest turned Akash Kunojia’s life upside down when Mumbai police mistakenly linked him to an attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan.

The incident, which took place on January 18, created chaos in the wrongly accused suspect’s life, despite him having no involvement in the crime.

Akash, who works as a driver for a tour company in Mumbai, was travelling to Bilaspur to visit his ailing grandmother and meet the family of a girl he was interested in marrying. However, his journey took a dramatic turn when railway protection officers detained him at the station.

Despite explaining to the police that he had no connection to the alleged attack on Khan, Akash’s photo was widely circulated on television and social media, wrongly branding him as the attacker.

“I told the police I wasn’t involved in any attack. I even suggested they check CCTV footage near my house, but they ignored me. Instead, they spread my picture, claiming I was the attacker,” he shared.

Akash was released on January 19 after Mumbai police captured Mohammad Sharif Islam Shehzad, who was identified as the real attacker.

The arrest caused serious damage as Akash lost his job because his employer withdrew amid the media frenzy surrounding the case.

“When I tried explaining to my office, they refused to listen and told me not to come back. I lost my job because of this mistake,” he explained.

Adding to Akash’s pain, his potential marriage also ended. The girl’s family, who had once been interested, turned him down after his wrongful arrest.

“After everything was finally getting better in my life, this incident turned everything upside down,” he lamented.

He pointed out a simple detail that police missed, “I have a moustache, while the person shown in the CCTV footage from Saif Ali Khan’s house didn’t. Yet, I had to go through all of this.”

Akash has now requested that all images portraying him as the alleged attacker be removed from the internet to avoid further complications in his life.

Earlier, one week after getting stabbed six times by an intruder in his Mumbai home, Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan has recorded his statement to the police, revealing crucial details of what happened on that fateful night.

According to Indian media, Saif Ali Khan provided his statement on Thursday, seven days after the January 16 incident.

“On the night of January 16, Kareena Kapoor and I were in the bedroom of our apartment on the 11th floor when we heard the screams of our younger son Jahangir’s nanny,” Saif told the police.

He added, “On hearing the screams, Kareena and I rushed to our son’s room, where the attacker was present. The nanny was terrified and screaming, while my son was crying.”

He added, “On hearing the screams, Kareena and I rushed to our son’s room, where the attacker was present. The nanny was terrified and screaming, while my son was crying.”

When Saif Ali Khan attempted to apprehend the intruder, he was stabbed multiple times on his back, neck, and hands with a knife. Despite his injuries, the actor managed to push the attacker into the room and lock him inside.

The attacker, who reportedly entered the 12th-floor apartment to rob the family, demanded Rs 1 crore. He was later identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad.

Initial reports claimed that Kareena Kapoor was not at home during the incident. However, statements from Saif Ali Khan and the nanny have refuted the claims, confirming that Kareena was present along with both of the couple’s sons and other family members.

In response to the attack, Mumbai Police has stationed two constables outside Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra residence, working in two shifts to ensure his safety.

Saif Ali Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai after the attack, where he underwent successful surgery. He was discharged five days later, on January 21.

‘Bizarre’; Shamoon Abbasi questions Saif Ali Khan’s recovery

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan’s speedy recovery after last week’s shocking stabbing incident has left many surprised, with some people showing skepticism about how quickly he healed. Actor Shamoon Abbasi, for one, is questioning how he recovered so fast.

Saif Ali Khan was attacked in his Mumbai apartment on January 16 by an intruder, suffering multiple knife wounds. He underwent two surgeries, during which doctors removed a blade fragment from his body. Despite the severity of his injuries, Saif was discharged from the hospital within five days and appeared to be in a seemingly healthy state.

Shamoon Abbasi took to Facebook, expressing skepticism and calling the story “bizarre”.

He wrote, “Generally I don’t pay attention to Bollywood news, but this Saif Ali Khan case is the most bizarre and nerve- wracking story, nothing aligns with the next statement.”

The Waar actor pointed out how Saif’s reported wounds and his quick recovery appear contradictory, further fueling public doubts about the incident’s authenticity.

Shamoon Abbasi isn’t alone, Indian politicians, including Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam and Maharashtra’s Minister Nitesh Rane, have questioned the legitimacy of the incident.

Nirupam remarked, “Recovering from spinal and neck injuries with five days and walking normally, this seems like something only superheroes can do.”

Bollywood actress Pooja Bhatt defended Saif Ali Khan, praised his bravery, and condemned the conspiracy theories.

Pooja Bhatt said, “Instead of spreading baseless speculation, Saif’s courage should be applauded, he drove himself to the hospital in an injured state, proving his resilience.

While Saif Ali Khan himself has not commented on the whispers, multiple medical websites state that healing from stabbing wounds that have not punctured a major organ or a large blood vessel can be quite fast, depending upon the injured individual’s overall health.

Earlier, Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan looked remarkably fit in his first public appearance since getting stabbed last week after an intruder entered his Mumbai home in the early morning hours.

Despite getting stabbed six times, Saif Ali Khan looked hale and hearty and in good spirits after being discharged from Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, a hand brace and faint bandage on his neck the only reminders of his ordeal. His trademark beard was replaced by a clean shaved visage.

He waved to fans and the paparazzi, before climbing into a car where his wife Kareena Kapoor was already waiting for him in the backseat. Flashing a smile at the papps, he left in the car for home.

Doctors have said that Saif is expected to make a complete recovery.

I was nervous about who is this passenger that is getting into my auto. I was worried that I might get into trouble and that is why I was nervous,” Singh explained.

Earlier, Bangladeshi national Shariful Islam Shahzad has been arrested for allegedly attacking Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan.

The friend and former co-worker of the accused, Rohmat Khan, described him as a kind-hearted man. Speaking with The Indian Express, Khan asserted that he “never imagined he could do such a big crime.”

“I have been following the news of the attack on Saif Ali Khan and kept wondering who would intrude upon such a high-profile person and launch an attack. Jitna main jaanta hoon, mujhe laga nahi wou itna barha kuch kar sakta hai (As far as I know, I never thought he could commit such a big crime),” the friend said.

According to the police, Shariful Islam Shahzad, originally from Rajabariya village in Jhalokathi district, Bangladesh, used the fake name Vijay Das to conceal his true identity. His real full name is Shariful Islam Sajjad Mohammed Rohilla Amin Fakeer.

The Bandra police informed Shahzad’s close friend, Khan, about his arrest since his family members were not in the city. Khan revealed, “He (Das) got the job through a contractor and worked with the Thane branch of Hotel Blabber All Day in the housekeeping section, while I was in the cafeteria section. He seemed to be a kind-hearted man. He never had any argument or fight with anyone and was good at his work.”

He also mentioned that Shahzad never opened up about his past, family, or his connection to Bangladesh.

According to a senior police officer, the accused confessed to the crime during interrogation. However, Shahzad’s lawyer strongly refuted the allegations, asserting, “Nothing has been recovered from my client; he is being framed.”

The lawyer argued in court that the allegations were baseless and that Shahzad was being made a scapegoat in this high-profile case because a celebrity was involved. “This case is the centre of attention because a famous individual has been targeted.”

Later, speaking to the media, the lawyer reiterated that nothing incriminating was found on Shahzad and emphasised his client’s innocence.

As per Indian media reports, Shariful Islam Shahzad has been remanded in the custody of Mumbai Police for five days as investigations continue.
