Sonya Hussyn respects Sher Afzal Marwat for rejecting second marriage

Lawyer and MNA Sher Afzal Marwat, the popular PTI leader, has been praised for standing up against family pressure. He refused to marry again just to have a son. Many people on social media praised Marwat for his decision, including actor Sonya Hussyn.

“In our tough world, I really admire this man,” wrote the Saraab actor in an Instagram post. “He knows how important it is to be kind and to follow the basic rules of relationships.”

Thinking about what Marwat said, Hussyn felt sad about how society always wants a son. “Getting married just to have a son is really unfair,” she said. But she praised Marwat for being loyal to his wife. She said his strong commitment and family values would protect his daughters from future problems. “By making this choice, he not only did right by his wife but also kept his daughters safe from a lifetime of sadness,” she wrote. “I’m sure his daughters will make him very proud one day.” Hussyn finished her post by saying, “Respect, sir.”

Earlier this week, Marwat had told Nadir Hussain’s podcast that his family wanted him to marry again to have a son. However, Marwat said he couldn’t do that to his wife. “I couldn’t bring another woman into our lives just to have a child,” he had stated in the podcast. “Like everyone else, a woman has just one life. She has basically burned everything in her life just to start a new life with you.”

Sher Afzal Marwat refused to remarry because it is a “big injustice” to women

In our patriarchal culture, societal norms often facilitate men who remarry if there are no children – or a male child – from the first marriage.

But Sher Afzal Marwat, a senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member, has different views as he related a personal event from his life in a podcast with Nadir Ali.

“In 2007, my wife asked me to remarry because it had been six years and we didn’t have a son yet,” Marwat said.

Marwat related that his father was alive at the time and in Pathan culture there is a lot of societal pressure to marry again for children.

His wife permitted him to remarry in a serious conversation.

Marwat recounted, “I took some time to think and told her that I cannot do this injustice to you just because I want children.”

Marwat emphasized, “It would be a big injustice to any woman, let alone your wife if you bring a second wife just for your happiness.”

“A woman has a life too, she leaves everything behind for a man when she gets married,” said Sher Afzal Marwat.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced on Thursday that it will stage a protest on Sunday in solidarity with judges and for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.

“The PTI is going to stage a rally for the freedom of the judiciary on the directives issued by the founder of the PTI,” party Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said while talking to the media after a meeting with Imran Khan.

‘Koi larai nahi ki hum nay’; Sher Afzal Marwat denies altercation with party members.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has denied reports of heated words exchanged between party members during a meeting of the core committee.

Sher Afzal Marwat faces off with PTI’s social media team over Shahid Afridi

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) maverick leader Sher Afzal Marwat and the party’s social media team are facing off on the issue of criticism of former cricketer Shahid Afridi.

Ali Muhammad Khan is also upset with the behavior of the PTI social media team.

Sher Afzal Marwat wrote on X, “Why Shahid Afridi? Now a campaign is going on against Shahid Afridi due to an alleged statement on May 9. I saw few statements attributed to me against Shahid Afridi. So we should reject fake news. I have not come across any such statement from Shahid Afridi and it seems that some elements are spreading false news against him. Shahid Afridi is a living legend, a Pashtun (Afridi) who became the hero of Pakistan.”

“I am inspired by the Afridis with their many qualities and Shehryar and Shahid Afridi have always been my heroes. I know that Shahid Afridi holds Imran Khan in a high regard and the propaganda against Shahid Afridi seems to be in the hands of those who want to settle a personal score with him.”

Talking about PTI’s social media team he said, “PTI social media teams are requested to spread good things about Shahid Afridi. We also need to react swiftly to false propaganda from PTI’s platform in future. Such unwitting participation in a malicious campaign against individuals should always be stopped as soon as possible. I personally confirm that the campaign against Shahid Afridi is false and futile and I deeply regret it.”

On the other hand, PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan has said, “The founder of PTI and Shahid Afridi are both national heroes. If Shahid Afridi’s words are not appropriate, it can be his personal opinion.”

PTI’s social media activist Azhar Mashwani responded to Marwat’s statement about Shahid Afridi and said, “Marwat Sahib! This sentence of yours is reprehensible and should be deleted immediately, do not respond or comment on internal party talks on social media. You should avoid such action.”
