A raid in Lahore’s Chuhang area resulted in police arresting the groom, transgender dancers, and 29 others after a dance performance blocked the road during a wedding.
A private news outlet reported that after the group blocked the road and had a dance event as part of the wedding party, Chuhang police took action against them. 32 individuals, including the groom and the performers, were taken into custody as a result of the operation.
Chuhang SHO Muhammad Raza revealed that a case has been lodged against the groom and other suspects under the Loudspeaker Act. The wedding was cancelled after the groom, Abubakar, spent the night in the jail.
The SHO added that the case has been filed under the Marriage and Sound Act along with other sections, naming suspects including Shahzaib, Ramzan, Ahmed, and others.SP Sadr Division Rana Hussain Tahir said the suspects had blocked the road and were engaging in obscene acts with the transgender dancers.
Police also recovered Rs 62,500 in cash from the wedding function, and the ceremony was called off after the raid.
DIG Operations added that those violating the Sound Act are not entitled to leniency and strict legal action will be taken against them.
