12 soldiers martyred, 35 terrorists killed: ISPR

At least 12 soldiers were martyred and 35 terrorists killed during two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) South Waziristan and Bajaur districts between Sept 10 and 13.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists belonged to Indian proxy Fitna al Khwarij and a heavy cache of weapons was recovered from their possession.

On details of the action, the military’s media-wing said that an intelligence-based operation was conducted in Bajaur upon receiving information about the presence of terrorists. “During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the Khwarij location, and after an intense fire exchange, 22 Indian sponsored Khwarij were sent to hell.”

“In another encounter that took place in South Waziristan District, 13 more Khwarij were neutralised by security forces. However, during intense fire exchange, 12 brave sons of soil, having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadat,” the ISPR added.

It further said that the killed terrorists remained actively involved in numerous activities in said areas.

“Intelligence reports have unequivocally confirmed physical involvement of Afghan nationals in these heinous acts. Besides, use of Afghan soil against Pakistan by Fitna al Khawarij terrorists continues to remain a grave point of concern. Pakistan expects the Inteirm Afghan Government to uphold its responsibilities and deny use of its soil for terrorist activities against Pakistan.”

“Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored Khwarji found in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian sponsored terror from the country, and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve,” the statement concluded.

Pakistan has in recent months been experiencing a surge in terror incidents, particularly in KP and Balochistan. After withdrawing from a ceasefire agreement with the government in November 2022, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) intensified assaults on security forces, police and other law enforcement personnel.

Fitna al Khwarij is being used to refer to terrorists belonging to the outlawed TTP, while Balochistan-based groups are referred to as Fitna-al-Hindustan to highlight India’s alleged role in terrorism and destabilisation across the country.

‘Underrated batter’: Moeen Ali names THIS Pakistan legend as his favourite

Former England all-rounder Moeen Ali has revealed that Pakistan’s Saeed Anwar is his favorite cricketer and one of the most “underrated players” in the history of the game.

Speaking on his podcast Beard Before Wicket, Moeen praised Anwar’s stylish batting and said the former opener had a huge influence on his own game.

“Saeed Anwar is a legend, but he is massively underrated. They don’t talk about him enough,” Moeen said, adding that Anwar’s record was probably not as good as some other guys, but the way he played made him his favorite player.

“He was the guy I tried to copy as much as I could. When I was younger, I used to try and bat like him,” he said and added that many cricketers from that era considered Anwar the best.

“If you speak with a lot of players from that era, they will say he was the best.”

Anwar, remembered for his record-breaking 194 against India in 1997, was Pakistan’s leading century-maker in ODIs with 20 hundreds.

Known for his graceful yet aggressive stroke play, he inspired a generation of batsmen with his fearless approach at the top of the order.

Five Afghan refugees arrested for gang-raping Afghan woman in Haripur

Haripur police have arrested five Afghan refugees on Friday for allegedly gang-raping a 21-year-old Afghan woman in the Khalabat Township area, media reports have stated.

According to police, the woman lives in a rented house in New Abadi Sector 3 on a valid Pakistani visa while her husband works abroad. On Thursday evening, she was walking towards Afghan Camp No 16 to meet relatives when a man who introduced himself as Bacha dragged her into nearby fields and raped her.

The woman told police that four of his accomplices soon arrived and also assaulted her one after another. She said one of the attackers slapped and punched her when she tried to resist.

Police identified the suspects as Nadi, Rozi, Khan Sher, Javed, and Naseer. The victim stated that all of them were Afghan refugees.

“The initial medical report conducted at the Trauma Centre Haripur has confirmed the offence of rape, while the detailed forensic report will follow from FSL,” Khalabat SHO Inspector Sidiq Shah told a digital media outlet.

He added that all five suspects have been arrested and booked under Section 375-A of the Pakistan Penal Code. Police will present them before a local magistrate on Saturday to seek physical remand.

  • ‘Never seen so many punches to Israel in one go’: Social media loves Pakistan’s response to Israel

‘Never seen so many punches to Israel in one go’: Social media loves Pakistan’s response to Israel

Netizens have commended Pakistan for its firm and uncompromising response to Israel during an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Thursday, held in the wake of Tel Aviv’s illegal strikes on Doha.

Initiating his address, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, slammed Israel for violating Qatar’s sovereignty.

“The brazen and illegal assault is not an isolated incident, rather it is part of a broader and consistent pattern of aggression and violation of international law by Israel that undermines regional peace and stability,” Ambassador Ahmad said.

He termed the attack on Doha as “yet another manifestation of systematic disregard for international law” by Israel, and its brazen policy of destabilising the region.

When the floor was given to the Israeli ambassador, he hit back with reference to the United States (US) raid that killed Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden on Pakistani soil.

Exercising Pakistan’s right of reply, Ambassador Ahmad rejected the analogy as “unacceptable and ludicrous”, accusing Israel of attempting to deflect attention from its own “illegal actions and violations of international law”.

“Israel is an occupier, a serial violator of the UN Charter and international law, that threatens the international community, humanitarian organisations and even the UN itself… and does so with impunity,” Ahmad said.

“Despite being the aggressor, it pretends to be the victim. But today, it stands fully exposed,” he added.

“Al Qaeda was largely decimated due to Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts, and we remain committed to this collective endeavour,” he said, reinforcing that Islamabad’s position was based on facts and international law.

“Maybe he was offended by my words and I apologise for that, but I make sure my speeches stick to facts. And the fact is, Osama bin Laden was killed in Pakistan, and no one condemned the US for that. When other countries attack terrorists, no one condemns them,” he said.

    Netizens react

Internet users were quick to react to Pakistan’s “teeth-breaking” response to Israel at the UNSC on the presence of its representative.

“Pakistan Ambassador to the United Nations Asim Ahmad made brilliant & bold critique of Israel at Security Council, terming Israel as ‘irresponsible rogue state, that is, in fact, worst perpetrator of State Terrorism in Gaza’! Bravo! (sic)” wrote Mushahid Hussain Syed, former chair of the Senate foreign relations committee, in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“Teeth-breaking response to Israel from Pakistani ambassador in UN. Well done @Asimiahmad you represented not only Pakistan but [also] all those who think Israel is no more a rogue state but it is a terrorist state. You rightly said a ‘serial violater of international law,’” journalist Hamid Mir said in a post on X.

A third user maintained that “Pakistan just demolished Israel at the UN” by labelling it precisely: “an occupier, a rogue state, and the embodiment of modern state terrorism cloaked in victimhood. This is called diplomatic belting”.

“Never seen so many slaps & punches to Israel in one go. Pakistan’s envoy at the UNSC meeting. Bravo, hail,” said one netizen while another wrote, “A real round of applause for [Pakistan] for calling such spade a spade!”

“Amb[assador] Asim’s statement at the UN Security Council, acknowledging Israel as a brutal rogue state, is not a political statement but Pak State’s stance at this highest level of [the] Council of Nations. Words aside, Amb Asia’s delivery of the statement was like a J10 thunder strike,” a social media user maintained.

Another user, while singling out a single line from Ambassador Ahmad’s speech, sarcastically asked, “Did the Pakistani representative at the UN just say ‘Israel doesn’t even listen to its friends, if it has any’?”

Gunmen open fire outside Indian actress’ home in Delhi

Unidentified assailants opened fire outside the residence of Bollywood actress Disha Patani in the Civil Lines area of Bareilly on Friday morning, media reports have stated. The attack reportedly took place around 3:30 AM, according to Bareilly Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya.

The gunmen, who arrived on a motorcycle, targeted the home of retired Circle Officer Jagdish Patani, Disha Patani’s father. Police were alerted immediately after the incident, and a case has been registered at Kotwali police station under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code.

“Two unidentified bike-borne assailants fired at the residence of retired CO Jagdish Patani. We dispatched police teams to the location without delay. Armed personnel have now been deployed to ensure the safety of the family,” SSP Arya confirmed.

He further stated that five special teams have been formed under SP City and SP Crime to investigate the case. “Strict action will be taken against those involved. I met the family personally and assured them of full protection,” he added.

As of now, actress Disha Patani has not issued a public statement regarding the attack.

This is not the first time that a celebrity’s house is being targeted in India. Just weeks ago, two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area, firing five rounds.

Indian singer and rapper Sidhu Moose Wala was murdered in a gun attack. He was shot dead by unidentified assailants on May 29 2022. A Canada-based gangster named Goldy Brar and a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the killing, which the police said was the culmination of an inter-gang rivalry.

Disha Patani is known for her roles in hit films such as M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016), Baaghi 2 (2018), Bharat (2019), Malang (2020), and Radhe (2021). She has also worked in Telugu cinema (Loafer, 2015) and international projects like Kung Fu Yoga (2017). Her recent releases include Yodha and Kalki 2898 AD (both 2024), with upcoming titles like B & B: Bujji and Bhairava and Kanguva on the horizon.

  • Sonya Hussyn slams Rishta Aunty for shaming ‘chubby girls’

Sonya Hussyn slams Rishta Aunty for shaming ‘chubby girls’

Pakistani actress Sonya Hussyn has taken a strong stand against TV personality and rishta maker Mrs. Khan, condemning her for making offensive remarks about women’s body sizes. Mrs. Khan had recently stated that “being chubby means you’ll be rejected,” a comment that has sparked backlash on social media for promoting harmful beauty standards.

Taking to Instagram, the Aangan star sharing Mrs. Khan’s controversial statement, firmly addressed the issue. “Dear Ma’am, with all due respect, it’s 2025 and time to wake up!!!” Sonya said. “Statements like ‘being chubby means you’ll be rejected’ are not just offensive and outdated, they’re harmful.”

The actress didn’t hold back, stating that such statements destroy self-esteem. “Confidence aese remarks sy shatter hota hai. Kiyun k in baton ny ek typical mindset create kar k false beauty standards ko normalize kar diya hai or insecurities paida kar di hain.” [Confidence gets shattered by such remarks. Because these statements have created a typical mindset that normalises false beauty standards and have given rise to insecurities.]

Sonya further emphasised that imposing outdated thinking on today’s generation is damaging and irrelevant. “These mindsets no longer serve the world we’re trying to build,” she said. “This generation must lead with better values like confidence, good character, career, professional achievements, self-growth and strong family values — regardless of gender!”

Calling for a shift in societal attitudes, she urged people to stop reducing women’s worth to their physical appearance. “Can we please now stop this shaming culture and shrinking women by tying their worth to their size,” she said, “and rather start supporting real well-being — both mental and physical.”

The actress also criticised the obsession with marriage, saying, “Sirf shadi kar lena maqsad nahi hona chahiye.” (Getting married shouldn’t be the only goal.)

She stressed the importance of personal growth, mental well-being, and emotional intelligence in building healthy relationships. “Our goal is to become fulfilled, self-aware individuals who can be strong, happy, and emotionally healthy partners too — rather than repeating the cycle of toxic, unhappy marriages we’ve seen for generations.”

Earlier, actor and TV host Javeria Saud had publicly condemned Mrs. Khan’s comments. Javeria Saud questioned why women are still judged for being “moti ya kaali” (fat or dark) in today’s world, calling it pure ignorance.

  • Kamran Akmal, Basit Ali offer two names to replace Faheem Ashraf

Kamran Akmal, Basit Ali offer two names to replace Faheem Ashraf

As the countdown begins for the high-voltage Asia Cup 2025 showdown between Pakistan and India, two former cricketers have voiced their opinions on team selection. Basit Ali and Kamran Akmal believe Pakistan should rethink Faheem Ashraf’s place in the playing XI for Sunday’s clash at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Speaking on a YouTube channel after Pakistan’s dominant win over Oman, Basit Ali pushed for young pacer Salman Mirza to replace Faheem. Kamran Akmal, however, leaned towards Hasan Ali for the role.

“If you want Faheem Ashraf to bat at that number, then Hasan Ali can also handle that position just as well — he can play those shots too. Plus, you can even hand Hasan the new ball,” Akmal explained.

Pakistan began their campaign in style with a 93-run win over Oman in Match 4. Mohammad Haris led the way with his maiden T20I fifty, scoring 66 off 43 balls, while Sahibzada Farhan chipped in with 29. The pair’s 85-run stand rescued Pakistan after Saim Ayub fell for a golden duck. Later, Fakhar Zaman’s unbeaten 23 off 16 and Mohammad Nawaz’s quick 19 off 10 helped the team reach 160 for 7.

For Oman, Aamir Kaleem and Faisal bagged three wickets each, while Muhammad Nadeem added one to his name.

Chasing 161, Oman collapsed to 67 all out in 16.4 overs. Hammad Mirza fought with 27 runs, but no other batter could survive Pakistan’s relentless attack. Saim Ayub, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Faheem Ashraf picked up two wickets apiece, while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Abrar Ahmed, and Mohammad Nawaz grabbed one each.

The victory lifted Pakistan to second place in Group B with two points and a strong net run rate of 4.650.

With the India clash looming large, all eyes are now on whether team management will stick with Faheem or take the advice of former stars to bring in fresh pace power.

  • Nepal’s Gen Z use Discord to elect first woman prime minister

Nepal’s Gen Z use Discord to elect first woman prime minister

Nepal is slowly returning to normalcy after days of violent political unrest, with the credit for a dramatic twist in the country’s leadership goinh to an unlikely place, Discord.

On Friday, former Chief Justice Sushila Karki became Nepal’s first woman prime minister, leading an interim government. But what made the story remarkable was how she was chosen. Gen Z protestors, frustrated with traditional politics, logged on to Discord to elect their new leader.

Discord, a social platform launched in 2015 by Jason Citron and Stanislav Vishnevskiy, was once designed mainly for gamers. Over the years it has grown into a space for large communities, with servers that can hold hundreds of thousands of users. Its simple layout, lack of endless feeds, and mix of tools like text, audio, video, and moderation make it a favorite among Gen Z.

Protestors in Nepal tapped into that power. They created a server called Youth Against Corruption, which now has more than 130,000 members according to media reports. Members organized channels for announcements, fact-checking, ground updates, helplines, and even news dumps. The setup turned Discord into a command center for mass protests.

After Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli resigned, the group decided to vote for a new leader. On September 10, after 7,713 votes were cast, Karki crossed the 50 percent mark, according to reports. The very next day, she met President Ram Chandra Poudel and Army Chief Gen. Ashok Raj Sigdel to formalize her new role.

With curfews now lifted in Kathmandu Valley and other parts of the country, daily life is beginning to settle down.

Samiya Hijab forgives Hassan Zahid, drops case: Reports

Social media influencer and content creator Samiya Hijab has reportedly dropped her case of attempted kidnapping and threatening against Hassan Zahid.

In an exclusive interview with a social media outlet, Samiya said that she has reconciled with accused Hassan Zahid, forgiving him, “for the sake of Allah.”

According to the news outlet, Samiya confirmed that both sides have withdrawn their allegations. Zahid apologised while offering assurances that he will not harass, defame, or harm her again, and pledged to move forward responsibly.

With this agreement, Samiya reportedly said she will withdraw her case, a move that clears the way for Zahid’s bail approval this week. She said that Hassan is ashamed of how he has acted.

Meanwhile, according to the outlet, Hassan will get a bail on Saturday to this agreement. Samiya was approached by Hassan’s mother and his father had apologized to her. That was the reason that compelled her to change her mind because her life was not at threat by her ex-fiancé anymore. “I have taken this decision to get out of the trauma and I just want to focus on my career from now onwards,” she said.

Earlier, an Islamabad district and sessions court on Friday sent the suspect, who allegedly threatened and attempted to abduct Samiya Hijab, to jail for 14 days on judicial remand.

The suspect was arrested on September 2 and a case was registered in the capital’s Shalimar Police Station at her complaint under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 365 (Kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), 392 (punishment for robbery), 500 (punishment for defamation), 509 and 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code. He has since been remanded twice.

Dubai businessman gives 700 free Asia Cup tickets to workers

Anis Sajan, a well-known businessman and philanthropist in Dubai, distributed 700 free Asia Cup tickets among workers, including the much-awaited Pakistan vs India match.

The high-voltage clash between Pakistan and India will take place on September 14 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Tickets for the game have been in huge demand, but many workers in Dubai will now get a chance to watch it live thanks to Sajan’s gesture.

Sajan arranged tickets for workers from South Asian countries such as Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Afghanistan. He also offered free pick-and-drop services so fans can enjoy the matches without worrying about transportation.

“I have always been passionate about cricket and loved watching the stars in action. Now I want workers here in Dubai to experience the same joy. That is why I decided to gift them tickets,” Sajan told a private media outlet.

He said most workers wanted to watch the Pakistan-India clash, so his company held a lucky draw to distribute those tickets fairly.

Several matches of the Asia Cup, including the final, will be played in Dubai. Sajan believes cricket brings people together.

“Whether the workers are from Pakistan or India, they watch the game together, celebrate their team’s win, and then walk back home happily hand in hand. This is the true spirit of the UAE society,” he pointed out.

The high-voltage clash between arch-rivals Pakistan and India will take place on September 14, 2025 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the UAE.

Pakistan began their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with a 93-run victory over Oman, while India started strong with a nine-wicket win against the UAE.
