Indian woman finds missing husband after seven years on Instagram reel with unpleasant surprise

A strange incident in India’s Uttar Pradesh’s has gone viral on social media after a missing man was discovered through an Instagram reel.

According to Indian media reports, a Hardoi native who disappeared shortly after his marriage was spotted in a video with another woman in Ludhiana, seven years after he was last seen.

The reports stated that Jitendra Kumar married a woman named Sheelu from Meran Nagar in 2017. Soon after the wedding, the couple welcomed a baby boy. However, Jitendra and his family allegedly began harassing Sheelu for dowry, demanding a gold chain and other valuables.

In 2018, Jitendra suddenly went missing, and his disappearance was reported to the police. Despite extensive searches, no information about him was uncovered. During this time, Jitendra’s family accused Sheelu’s relatives of murdering him, forcing Sheelu to live with her son at her parents’ home.

However, fate took an unexpected turn a few days ago when Sheelu, while browsing Instagram, saw a reel featuring her husband with another woman in Ludhiana.

Sheelu claimed that Jitendra had remarried and was living with the woman seen in the video. She also alleged that Jitendra’s family knew about this but kept it a secret.

Police said Jitendra left home without informing anyone a year after the marriage, and a missing person report had been filed in 2018. After confirming his whereabouts, Sheelu has submitted a new complaint to the police. Authorities have started an investigation into the matter.

Islamabad police have arrested a man on Monday for allegedly harassing and attempting to abduct social media influencer Samiya Hijab.

A statement from the police spokesperson said the action was taken after her complaint and video statement in which she claimed that she was attacked by a man who tried to kidnap her.

A case was registered in the capital’s Shalimar Police Station at her complaint under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 365 (Kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), 392 (punishment for robbery), 500 (punishment for defamation), 509 and 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The social media influencer said in the first information report that the suspect had been stalking her for several days. She also posted a video on her Instagram that this man has been harassing her.

She added that 6:30 pm on Sunday, an attempt was made to forcefully take her out of the house.

“Today’s incident further escalated when he attempted to forcibly abduct me from my house while I was returning his gifts. This amounts to abduction, harassment, and assault under the law. For evidence, I have CCTV footage,” she was quoted as saying in the FIR.

Samiya also took to Instagram to thank Islamabad police and mentioned that the suspect had threatened her to take her complaint back.

In her previous video, she said, “I am not one of those girls who cannot raise their voices for their rights.”

She also said that she does not want what happened to her “friend”, Sana Yousaf, to happen to her.

Earlier in June, the Islamabad police said they had arrested the main suspect in the murder case of 17-year-old social media influencer Sana Yousaf, a day after she was shot dead in her house.

Meanwhile, old pictures of Samiya and the alleged suspect are making rounds on social media in which they can be seen spending time together.

    Mitchell Starc retires from T20Is

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has announced his retirement from T20 Internationals to concentrate on Test and ODI cricket, Cricket Australia confirmed on Tuesday.

Starc, who played 65 T20Is and claimed 79 wickets, said Test cricket has always been his main focus.

“I have loved every minute of every T20 game I have played for Australia, particularly the 2021 World Cup, not just because we won but the incredible group and the fun along the way,” he said in a statement.

Starc added that he wanted to remain fresh for the major upcoming events.

“Looking ahead to an away Indian Test tour, the Ashes and an ODI World Cup in 2027, I feel this is my best way forward to remain fresh, fit and at my best for those campaigns. It also gives the bowling group time to prepare for the T20 World Cup in the matches leading into that tournament,” he said.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia has announced the squad for the upcoming T20 series against New Zealand in Starc’s absence. Pat Cummins will not feature in the series as part of his management plan.

According to Cricket Australia, Cummins is dealing with lower back soreness and is under assessment. He will also not be considered for the limited-overs series against India.

Mitchell Marsh will lead the team in the three-match T20 series against New Zealand starting for October 1.

Asif Ali bids farewell to international cricket

Pakistani star batter Asif Ali has officially announced his retirement from international cricket.

Asif announced his decision in a social media post, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to represent Pakistan.

“Today, I announce my retirement from international cricket. Alhamdulillah, wearing the Pakistan jersey has been the greatest honour of my life and serving my country on the cricket field has been my proudest chapter,” he wrote.

Thanking those who supported him throughout his journey, Asif added, “To my fans, teammates, and coaches, thank you for your love, belief, and support through every high and low. To my family and friends, who stood with me in moments of joy and in the deepest of trials, including the loss of my beloved daughter during the World Cup, your strength carried me forward.”

“I retire with immense gratitude, and InshaAllah will continue to share my passion for the game by playing domestic and league cricket worldwide. Pakistan Zindabad,” he added.

Asif Ali was known for his explosive hitting in the lower order and his ability to finish matches.

His most memorable performance came during the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup against Afghanistan, where he smashed 25 not out off just seven balls, including four sixes in a single over to seal victory for Pakistan. This innings remains one of the most iconic moments of his career and showcased his finishing skills under pressure. Earlier in the same tournament, he also played a crucial knock against New Zealand, scoring 27 off 12 balls with three massive sixes, which helped Pakistan secure another important win.

Asif Ali made his T20 International debut for Pakistan on April 1, 2018, against West Indies, and just a few months later, he made his One-Day International debut on July 13, 2018, against Zimbabwe. He was considered a power-hitter and a valuable asset for Pakistan in limited-overs cricket. However, despite occasional match-winning performances, consistency remained a challenge in his career.

He played his last ODI for Pakistan on April 2, 2022, against Australia. His final T20I appearance came on October 7, 2023, against Bangladesh during the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. After that, he fell out of favor with selectors due to inconsistent performances and the emergence of younger players, which limited his chances in the national team setup.

In total, Asif Ali represented Pakistan in 21 ODIs and 58 T20Is, scoring 382 runs in ODIs at an average of 25 and 577 runs in T20Is at an average of 15.

  • ‘Not a superstar’: Babrik Shah throws shade at Humayun Saeed in latest podcast

‘Not a superstar’: Babrik Shah throws shade at Humayun Saeed in latest podcast

Pakistani actor Babrik Shah has said that he does not believe Humayun Saeed is a superstar.

In a recent podcast appearance, Babrik shared his thoughts on Pakistani cinema and didn’t hold back from criticising some of its biggest names.

Taking a dig at The Legend of Maula Jatt lead actor Fawad Khan, he said the character lacked depth and intensity. “Fawad couldn’t deliver the role the way Maula Jatt’s character should’ve been portrayed. The essence and impact were missing,” he said.

He did praise Hamza Ali Abbasi for his performance in the film, but mocked Mahira Khan’s acting, stating that the rest of the cast appeared too “mummy-daddy”.

When asked about Humayun Saeed, he said, “Humayun made his debut in Inteha as a villain. Zeeshan Sikander was the lead, and the film was directed by Samina Peerzada. I watched it in the cinema when I was still young and not yet part of the industry. Later, he did No Paisa No Problem, which was a complete flop. Then he produced a movie himself, investing his own money. He took Ahsan Talish with him, cast several Indian actors, including Ahmed Ali Butt from Pakistan. The film was titled Aik Din Laut Ke Aaonga, but ironically, it never returned,” he quipped.

Babrik also mentioned Saeed’s other films such as Main Hoon Shahid Afridi, the Jawani Phir Nahi Ani series, the Punjab Nahi Jaungi series, and Love Guru. “He has done around 10 to 12 films. If you consider yourself a superstar after just a dozen movies, then Shaan should step down from his title, as he has done over 500 films.”

In response, the host asked whether it’s better to do 500 films with only a few hits or to have a shorter list of movies where each one is successful. Babrik replied, “If you calculate the success rate, Humayun’s hit ratio is only about 50 percent.”

He further criticised Saeed’s work, claiming his films were largely inspired by Indian cinema. “No one has truly worked to uplift Pakistani cinema or improve the industry. We used to have 500 cinemas in the country; now we’re down to just 29,” Babrik added.

He also said he himself has acted in over a hundred films and was now taking a break from the industry.

The interview comes shortly after Babrik criticised Imran Abbas during another media appearance. “He doesn’t even look like a hero. He has zero per cent filmy appeal,” he said, going on to rate Hamza Ali Abbasi a “seven out of ten” in terms of acting and calling Fawad Khan “overrated”.

Actress, singer Arifa Siddiqui’s house damaged in Lahore flooding

As floods in major rivers continue to wreak havoc across Punjab, water from Ravi has inundated several areas in and around Lahore, breaching safety walls and damaging properties.

With excess water from Ravi affecting residential areas, among the affected properties is the residence of renowned singer and actress Arifa Siddiqui, it has emerged.

Siddiqui took to social media to share a video of the damage to her home. The footage showed water having entered the house with furniture and belongings scattered and visibly damaged.

In the video, Siddiqui was seen alongside her husband as the couple attempted to clean their residence. Various parts of the house showed clear signs of water damage, highlighting the severity of the situation.

The actor’s housing society, however, wasn’t the only one affected as heavy rainfall and resulting rise in Ravi levels also caused severe flooding in other developments along the riverbank.

The District Education Authority (DEA) Lahore has stated that 45 schools will remain closed due to flooding, as many of them have turned into relief campuses. Schools in the worst flood-hit areas, such as Shahdara, Saggian, Maraka, Chung, Manga and Bund Road remain closed.

Residents in the affected areas are facing significant hardships and have appealed to the government for urgent assistance and relief efforts.

Earlier, the Punjab government had extended summer vacations due to intense heat, from mid August to August 31 due to bad weather.

According to a notification issued by Lahore Colleges Director Ehsan Mukhtar, about 20 colleges in the Lahore division, including six in the Lahore district, will remain closed for two days (September 1 and 2) due to the flood situation.

  • Global media outlets stage blackout to protest journalist killings in Gaza

Global media outlets stage blackout to protest journalist killings in Gaza

Audiences around the world woke up on Monday to a powerful message on the front pages of newspapers and media websites.

“At the rate journalists are being killed in Gaza by the Israeli army, there will soon be no one left to keep you informed,” read a message on main pages of dailies and media websites as part of a protest organised by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and global advocacy group Avaaz to condemn the killing of journalists in Gaza.

For the first time in history, more than 250 media outlets across 70 countries, including Qatar, France, the UK, Germany, Palestine, South Korea, Spain and Italy, blacked out their front pages, homepages and broadcasts to send the message.

RSF stated that the protest aimed to demand protection for Palestinian journalists, free access for media in Gaza, and an end to what it called crimes against journalists by the Israeli army.

Television and radio stations will also air a joint statement whereas online media platforms will display blackout banners in solidarity.

According to RSF, Israel has killed 220 journalists in the past two years, with many more injured.

The Gaza Health Ministry reports that more than 63,000 Palestinians have died since the genocide began. The United Nations (UN) considers these figures reliable.
