Pakistani teen, whom Onijah Andrews fell in love with, breaks silence

Pakistani teenager Nadal Ahmed, whom United States (US) citizen Onijah Andrews came to the country for and refused to leave for weeks, has finally broken silence.

In an interview with a foreign YouTube channel, 19-year-old Nadal confirmed his relationship with Onijah, revealing that the two were still in touch. “We’ve been in a relationship for the past two to two-and-a-half years,” Nadal said.

“But it was Onijah’s personal decision to come to Pakistan to meet me,” he added.

Nadal revealed that Onijah stayed in a hotel in Pakistan for nearly three months. “During that time, my family and I stayed in contact with her. She even went shopping with my mother and sisters. They are still in touch with her.”

He dismissed rumours claiming he had abandoned or deceived Onijah. “I’ve heard people saying that I left her or cheated on her, but that’s not true. We’re still in contact,” Nadal clarified and challenged such people to show him “even a single video” where Onijah said that he left her or betrayed her.

“These are just baseless assumptions and have nothing to do with reality,” he said and also denied being married to Onijah. “We are not married. I don’t know why Onijah is saying that.”

“Like any other couple, we love each other. Every relationship goes through ups and downs. We’re working on different projects and will be seen together again soon.”

Onijah had travelled to Karachi in October 2024 to marry the teenager whom she had met online. But after his family allegedly rejected her and her 30-day visa expired, she made headlines for refusing to leave amid helplessness of law enforcement in sending her back.

Her statements to the press made her a global sensation with content creators flooding the internet with her story. Onijah travelled back to the US in February, days after her son claimed she was suffering from a psychological disorder. She has, however, retained her popularity, appearing on several US-based digital outlets since her return.

Court jails three in Khalil ur Rehman Qamar kidnapping case

Lahore’s Anti-Terrorism Court has convicted three individuals and acquitted others in the high-profile honey trap and kidnapping-for-ransom case involving drama writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar.

Judge Arshad Javed sentenced Amna Urooj, Mamnoon Haider, and Zeeshan to seven years in prison each for “demanding ransom”.

Primary suspect Hassan Shah, along with other accused individuals, was acquitted after the court ruled that the charge of kidnapping could not be proven; as a result, no sentence was issued on that count due to insufficient evidence.

The court stated, “The prosecution recorded statements from 17 witnesses, based on which the verdict was given.”

Khalilur Rehman Qamar was allegedly honey-trapped and then kidnapped on 15 July. A ransom was reportedly demanded soon after. The case was officially registered on 21 July at the Sundar Police Station under kidnapping and terrorism charges.

The trial began in August, involving a total of 11 accused. During proceedings, a total of 17 witnesses, including Khalilur Rehman Qamar himself, his friends, police officers, and bank staff, gave their statements,” the court noted.

Only one of the accused has been released on bail so far. Notably, the Lahore High Court had rejected the bail application of the main accused, Amna Urooj.

  • Weakened PTI can’t stage protests, says Sher Afzal Marwat

Weakened PTI can’t stage protests, says Sher Afzal Marwat

Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Sher Afzal Marwat has claimed that his ex-party cannot stage protests as it has been weakened politically, publicly and ideologically since last April.

Speaking to reporters in Islamabad today (Monday), the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) firebrand said, “We have wasted last year, which was the year of protest and practical work. From April of last year to this April, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf  has been weakened ideologically, politically and publicly. We are not in a position to stage a protest.”

Questioning what he called the silence of PTI leaders after giving hope to people that a protest would be staged right after Eid, Marwat said that PTI knows that there is nobody to lead the protest.

He further said that those who could have played a role [in staging the protest] were left to face the wrath of social media. “Now, who would willingly subject themselves to abuse and rejection,” he asked.

Additionally, Marwat said that deaf and dumb people have been placed in the party who can’t come out for protest or can’t make people come out, adding that they [PTI leadership] are not answering why the party is not organising itself in Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh. “Why did they waste one and a half years,” Marwat asked.

“It is PTI and Imran Khan’s misfortune that individuals like [Secretary General] Salman Akram have been imposed on the party, who have already shattered the unity within. The party has been rendered incapable of both protest and dialogue. In other words, Khan and the party have been left entirely at the mercy of God,” Marwat opined.

Last week, Marwat had claimed PTI is now dominated by three pressure groups, and the party’s social media wing plays an important role in influencing narratives.

Marwat states that among the strongest pressure groups is the media, in particular, PTI-aligned YouTubers who produce narratives for financial purposes in dollars. He added that this media-focused messaging is coming at a hefty price for both PTI and Imran Khan in Pakistan and has largely added to internal divisions and intra-party discord.

Marwat identified the second pressure group as being from internal regional tensions. He asserted that PTI leadership in KP is being challenged by influences from Punjab because of linguistic biases, adding that KP is the only province where PTI still maintains an organized structure, whereas the party’s presence in the other three provinces is negligible.

Police official holding tray of cash for TikToker sparks furious debate

An undated video purportedly showing a police official holding a tray full of cash bundles for TikToker Kashif Zameer has sparked widespread debate online.

The viral video shows a man in a police uniform standing beside a stage, carrying a tray filled with cash bundles for the TikToker, who is picking up the money and tossing it into the air over the people present on the stage. A couple of people can also be seen dancing around the TikToker to the beat of Qawwali music.

Since the video has made rounds on social media, netizens are debating about the role and decorum expected of police officers. A social media user, while tagging the Punjab Police Official, shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “Have the officers of @OfficialDPRPP been reduced to just holding trays of cash while TikTokers throw money around?”

Another user wrote, “Rarely have I ever felt such secondhand embarrassment as I did watching this video. What could be a greater insult to the uniform entrusted by the public?”

One of the users maintained, “In Kasur, the police humiliated people by filing cases over dancing — and here, the same police are holding up cash for a TikToker while he dances. This is how they’re performing their duty?”

“Punjab Police has been given additional responsibilities… Punjab Police will now also perform such duties. A police officer is standing holding currency, and Raeeszada (son of a wealthy person) is throwing it at a dancer and singer,” mocked another user.

Known for his love of wearing heavy gold chains and keeping pet lions at home. Zameer- as per his official TikTok account- is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chaudhary Textiles. He has 565K followers and 13.6 million likes on his TikTok account.

In 2021, Zameer was arrested by the Lahore Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) on charges of defrauding Turkish actor Engin Altan Duzyatan, who played the role of Ertugrul Ghazi in the historical drama series Dirilis: Ertugrul.

In a complaint filed against the TikToker, Duzyatan had accused Zameer of misusing him to earn illegal benefits. He also alleged that the suspect had issued him bogus cheques against agreements and defamed him by using his name and pictures without his permission for ulterior motives.

According to media reports, Duzyatan had travelled to Pakistan on the invitation of the suspect in December 2020 and signed a contract with him. He later found out that the suspect had sent him bogus cheques for payments.

Indian official Olympic account pays tribute to Arshad Nadeem’s historic win

Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has received recognition from across the border after his remarkable gold medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In a rare gesture, an Indian official Instagram page acknowledged his outstanding performance and featured his journey as a source of inspiration for young people.

The Indian platform not only praised Arshad’s Olympic triumph but also highlighted his video as motivational content, calling his story a powerful example of resilience and dedication.

The video shows the Pakistani athlete’s performance in the javelin throw event at the Tokyo Olympics, held in 2021, where he qualified for the final but missed out on winning a medal for the country.

At that time, India’s Neeraj Chopra took the gold with a throw of 87.58 metres — marking a historic moment as India’s first-ever Olympic gold in athletics.

In the Instagram post, Nadeem is seen heartbroken after his disappointment in Tokyo. The video then shifts to the unforgettable scenes from the Paris 2024 Olympics, capturing the emotional moment when Arshad, visibly moved, raises his arms in celebration after winning gold with a massive throw of 92.97 metres — setting a new Olympic record.

Arshad, who hails from Mian Channu in Punjab, made history by becoming the first Pakistani javelin thrower to achieve consistent international success. His gold medal win at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and a silver at the 2023 World Athletics Championship already cemented his status as a national hero.

However, it was his gold medal at the Paris Olympics that truly elevated his legacy. After missing out on a medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Arshad staged a remarkable comeback, defying all odds to bring glory to Pakistan.

  • ‘Safe basant’ on its way to Lahore?

‘Safe basant’ on its way to Lahore?

Is Lahore’s beloved festival of Basant making a comeback to the city? Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar certainly thinks so.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, considered one of the closest aides to party head Nawaz Sharif, told journalists on Sunday in London that the Punjab government is preparing to celebrate a ‘safe Basant’.

Reports had been circulating on media outlets during the previous week that Punjab government was planning to celebrate Basant in February 2026.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has constituted a high-level committee has been formed to chalk out a strategy for the event, with officials from the Walled City Authority, the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, the CCPO of Lahore, representatives from various departments and members of the Kite Flying Association.

Media sources were quoted as saying that among the suggestions being studied by the committee are plans to limit the festival to the Walled City (androon sheher) or ban motorcycles for two days.

More pertinently are the suggestions pertaining to the sale and purchase of kites and string. String makers will need to be registered with the government while only vendors registered with the District Administration will be allowed to sell kites and string.

Use of glass-coated or metallic string will be strictly prohibited under guidelines issued by District Administration. Only strings complying with government issued SOPs will be sold to the public.
