Four children among five injured by grenade attack on Khuzdar SHO’s house

Five people, including four children, were injured on Monday in a grenade attack on the residence of Station House Officer (SHO) Qadir Sheikh in Khuzdar, Balochistan.

The assault is believed to be part of ongoing insurgent operations in the area.

According to authorities, unidentified attackers threw a hand grenade at SHO Qadir Sheikh’s residence.

The SHO’s father and his brother’s four children were injured in the attack, according to Khuzdar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Javed Zehri, who confirmed the incident.

The father was transferred to Karachi for further medical treatment, while the children were provided with necessary care at a local hospital.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident to identify the attackers and determine their motives.

Violence in Balochistan is on the rise at the time of this grenade attack. Recently, the Jaffar Express, a train carrying 440 passengers, was attacked by militants from the banned separatist organisation, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

The two incidents highlight the province’s persistent security issues as rebel groups continue to target government buildings and security forces.

While investigations into the attacks continue, local law enforcement authorities are working to counter these threats.

  • 210 killed as Israel launches airstrikes in Gaza, ends ceasefire

210 killed as Israel launches airstrikes in Gaza, ends ceasefire

Israel violated and ended the ceasefire agreement, carrying out deadly airstrikes across Gaza early Tuesday, killing at least 210 people, including women and children, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the enclave.

As per media reports, the strikes targeted multiple areas across the enclave, from north to south, with several hospitals reporting deaths and injuries.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Israel notified the Trump administration ahead of its “extensive strikes” in Gaza.

In an interview with Fox News, Leavitt said, “The Trump administration and the White House were consulted by the Israelis on their attacks in Gaza tonight – and as President Trump has made it clear, Hamas, the Houthis, all those who seek to terrorize not just Israel but also the United States of America, will see a price to pay. All hell will break loose.”

“All of the terrorists in the Middle East… Iranian-backed terror proxies and Iran themselves should take President Trump seriously when he says he’s not afraid to stand for law-abiding people,” she added.

Meanwhile, a Hamas leader said that Israel’s new airstrikes on Gaza are a “death sentence” for the remaining Israeli hostages held in the enclave.

Hamas leader and member of the group’s political bureau Ezzat al-Rishq claimed, “Netanyahu’s decision to return to war is a decision to sacrifice the prisoners of the occupation and a death sentence against them.”

On October 7, 2023, following Hamas’s attack on Israel, Israel began its retaliatory attacks in the Gaza Strip and a genocide against the Palestinians. As of Tuesday, more than 48,500 people in Gaza have been killed, with more than 112,000 wounded.

The Israeli military has continued to operate inside Gaza since the start of the ceasefire on 19 January; however, Tuesday’s airstrikes are the clearest sign that efforts to extend the truce have collapsed.

The ceasefire was meant to have three phases. The first phase began in January, during which multiple hostages were released, and it expired on 1 March — but Hamas and Israel have been unable to agree on how to move into the second phase. The weeks since have been filled with thorny negotiations.

Hamas wanted to enter phase two — which would have seen Israeli troops fully withdraw from Gaza and the release of all living hostages held by Hamas. Israel, instead, pushed for an extension of phase one without committing to ending the war or withdrawing troops.

According to reports, Abdul Rehman, popularly known as ‘Kodu’, was wanted in connection with an attempted murder case.

  • Teenaged girl dies after jumping from Karachi apartment building

Teenaged girl dies after jumping from Karachi apartment building

A young girl tragically fell to her death from the window of an eighth-floor apartment in Karachi’s North Nazimabad area.

16-year-old Anadiya was found dead on the street below the Sky Blue Apartments, located close to Isa Laboratory. A Chhipa ambulance transported her body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Anadiya’s father, Muhammad Iqbal, who works in the private sector, has one son and four daughters. His youngest children are twins, with Anadiya being the younger of the two.

The family claims that Anadiya was undergoing therapy at a private facility for mental health problems.

Additionally, she had recently become more religiously inclined. Anadiya and her twin sister, Maryam, were at home when the tragedy occurred while their parents and two sisters had gone shopping. According to initial reports, Anadiya jumped from the eighth floor while standing near the window.

According to the police, Maryam was too devastated by her sister’s passing to make a statement, and their parents were similarly in shock. Their statements will be recorded once the family is stable.

Certain aspects of the incident, however, have already raised concerns, even though the police believe Anadiya’s death may have been intentional.

She allegedly jumped from a tiny window, which may have made it difficult for her to get through. Furthermore, her body was not found directly below the window as expected but was discovered at a considerable distance from the building.

Investigators believe these details will become clearer after speaking to the family. For now, the body has been handed over to the family following standard procedures.

  • ‘I still have the right’; Danish Taimoor’s remarks on four marriages spark debate

‘I still have the right’; Danish Taimoor’s remarks on four marriages spark debate

During a Ramazan TV transmission, renowned actor Danish Taimoor’s remarks about men being allowed to marry four times sparked an intense debate on social media.

Speaking alongside former news anchor Rabia Anam, Danish commented, “Permission for four marriages has been granted, but I am not doing it yet, that’s a different story. I won’t do it because I love and respect my wife, even though I still have the right.”

Many viewers criticized his statement, calling it unnecessary and insensitive, especially since his wife, actress Ayeza Khan, was present during the segment.

One social media user pointed out, “Why even mention this when your wife is sitting right there? This was uncomfortable to watch.”

Others highlighted that while Islam permits up to four marriages, it is under specific conditions. “Men always remember their right to marry four times, but they conveniently forget the conditions,” one user pointed out.

Danish Taimoor previously expressed happiness with his marriage to Ayeza Khan, stating that he had no plans for a second marriage.

Despite his clarification, critics argued that his comments reinforced problematic mindsets and lacked sensitivity.

Danish and Ayeza, who tied the knot in 2014, are one of Pakistan’s most adored celebrity couples and parents to two children. While the actor has not responded to the backlash, the controversy has left many questioning the relevance and appropriateness of his statement on a public platform.

  • Here’s how you can make more money through Facebook

Here’s how you can make more money through Facebook

Meta has launched a new feature that allows Facebook users to make money from views on their public stories. The update is available to creators who are already part of Facebook’s content monetisation programme.

With this feature, creators can earn from content they have already shared. For example, if someone posts a cooking tutorial as a video or reel and shares part of it as a story, they can now earn money from the views on that story.

Users can also earn from everyday content they post in stories. According to Meta, earnings will depend on how well the content performs rather than a set number of views.

Meta hopes this will encourage creators to post more content on Facebook. Those already in the monetisation programme will automatically benefit from this new feature without needing to do anything extra.

Facebook started its content monetisation programme last year, inviting millions of users to join. The company plans to expand the programme later this year, allowing more people to participate.

Users who are not yet part of it can show their interest through Facebook’s monetisation website.
