Man arrested for stepping out naked in front of polio worker

A man has been arrested for harassing a polio worker in Surjani Town, Karachi after she complained that he appeared naked in front of her to sexually harass her.

The police report suggests that the polio worker had gone to the flat of the man in the afternoon of December 18 to administer the vaccine as part of her duty. The man then appeared naked in front of the polio worker, exposing himself to her.

The Surjani Town police registered a case on the complaint of the polio worker, after which the man, named Faiq, was arrested from KDA flats.

The female polio worker in the complaint pointed out, “I instantly left the place after the man came out naked in front of me and told the official in charge of my department about the incident.”

CCTV footage of the arrest emerged online in which police can be seen arresting the man as the woman polio worker identified.

Previously, a man from Surjani Yousuf Goth stripped naked in front of a passerby woman.
The public display of indecency was recorded on camera, where he could be seen enjoying himself while his friends cheered him on.

It was later posted online, garnering backlash and prompting the local police to arrest the man for making obscene gestures.

However, the police informed the media that no complaint was filed against the man from the woman’s side but the action was taken for public interest.

The man confessed to harassing the woman by exposing himself only as part of a challenge given to him by friends, but someone filmed it and posted it online.

Moreover, a polio team was also attacked in the slum areas of Korangi, Karachi. It resulted in two police officials and polio workers being injured.

The team included Saba, Rabia, and Dr Khalid, accompanied by policemen Taufiq, Jahangir, and a lady police constable, Aniza Naz.

The family living there argued with the team that they didn’t want their children to be administered the polio vaccine. As the polio team tried to convince them, the men and women in the house resorted to violence against them.

The family members used a shovel to attack the team and tore the police officers’ uniforms while slapping them and snatching their phones.

Upon receiving the information, a large contingent of police arrived at the scene and arrested the violent family members.

Notably, the federal government launched a four-day campaign this Monday that aimed to cover 143 districts across Pakistan, with over 400,000 polio workers going door-to-door, aiming to immunise more than 45 million children over the age of five against the Polio virus, which induces a life-long disability.

  • ‘Rioters convicted by military courts have pointed finger at Imran Khan’

‘Rioters convicted by military courts have pointed finger at Imran Khan’

Senior journalist and former information minister Murtaza Solangi has claimed that May 9 rioters convicted by military courts, have pointed the finger at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

As many as 25 PTI activists involved in attacks on military installations on May 9, 2023, were convicted and sentenced, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement issued Saturday.

“All evidence was present against the culprits who were sentenced today. Not only did they confessed to their crimes in front of the judge, but also confessed to being incited to commit those crimes, by different leaders of the PTI,” he wrote in a post on X.

The journalist went on to claim that among those leaders was Imran Khan as well.

Scores of PTI workers were arrested and more than 100 civilians are facing military trials for last year’s riots over the arrest of former prime minister and PTI founder Khan.

“Field General Court Martial have in [the] first phase promulgated the punishments to 25 accused,” the ISPR said in its statement issued hours before Solangi’s claims.

The statement from the military’s media wing came as the PTI maintains it had no role in attacks on state installations, including the ransacking of the General Headquarters (GHQ).

While the PTI also demands a judicial commission to probe last year’s events, Saturday’s statement added that the promulgation of the sentences of remaining accused was also being done and will be announced shortly as and when the due process is complete.

“All convicts retain the right to appeal and other legal recourses, as guaranteed by the law and the Constitution,” the ISPR said.

It added that the nation on May 9 witnessed tragic incidents of politically provoked violence and arson at multiple places, marking a dark chapter in the history of Pakistan.

Building on a sustained narrative of hate and lies, the ISPR said, politically orchestrated attacks were carried out on the installations of the armed forces, including the desecration of martyrs’ monuments.

“Many accused are also being tried in various Anti-Terrorism Courts and their cases are being pursued as per the law, however, justice would truly be fully served once the mastermind and planners of 9th May Tragedy are punished as per the Constitution and laws of the land,” the statement read.

“State of Pakistan will continue to vigoursly pursue dispensation of justice to ensure establishment of inviolable writ of the State, so as to uproot this evil of violence driven disruptive and destructive politics based on hate, divisiveness and baseless propaganda,” it concluded.

‘Squid Game’ creator Hwang Dong Hyuk plans to quit show

Filmmaker Hwang Dong Hyuk, who created the hit Netflix show ‘Squid Game,’ has fans worried after hinting that he might quit the show.

The first season of ‘Squid Game,’ with its nine episodes, streamed on Netflix in 2021 and quickly became a global sensation. It became the most-watched non-English TV series on Netflix, with over two billion hours viewed and 265 million total views.

Following the success of season 1, the show was renewed for two more seasons. The first of these new seasons is set to stream on December 26.

However, amid the excitement, Hwang Dong Hyuk revealed he is “exhausted and sick” of working on the show. He said he plans to take a long break after completing Season 3 and won’t take on any new projects for now.

“I’m so sick of my life making something, promoting something. So I’m not thinking about my next project right now. I’m just thinking about going to some remote island and having my own free time without any phone calls from Netflix,” Hyuk said.

In an earlier interview, Hwang Dong Hyuk surprised fans by revealing that he lost nine teeth due to stress while filming the first season of ‘Squid Game.’ He also mentioned that although the first season was a global success, he didn’t make much money from it. This led him to agree to develop the second season for better compensation.

  • Here’s why Jannat Mirza prefers TikTok over cinema

Here’s why Jannat Mirza prefers TikTok over cinema

Content creator and popular TikTok star Jannat Mirza has said that when it comes to choosing between movies or social media, she’s all in for TikTok.

Appearing as a guest on Girls Only podcast with Dananeer Mobeen, the TikToker opened up about her career and why she would always choose TikTok over the big screen.

“I think our generation doesn’t like to go to the cinema anymore. They prefer sitting at home, relaxing, and using their phones. They just scroll through TikTok instead. Right now, everyone is using TikTok because it’s an easy platform. You have your phone and you can watch whatever you want, whenever you want. So, I would prefer TikTok over cinema,” she explained.

To a question about how her journey started, Mirza said she didn’t have any interest in social media at first. “I actually wanted to become a police officer, just like my father. But by chance, I became a social media star.”

Reflecting on her early days on TikTok, she said that she started in 2017 when videos that told stories within 15 seconds were trending.

“I made many such video at the time, but now I find them pointless and don’t like to watch them,” the Tere Bajre Di Rakhi actress added.

Earler, Tiktok star Jannat Mirza appeared as a guest on ‘Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Excuse Me’.

Host Ahmed Ali Butt asked her, “Syed Noor thought your followers would watch the film, but they didn’t. How do you feel about his statement, especially since you were part of his film?”

Jannat replied, “Well, I think the movie’s script was a little weak. Let me tell you, that movie was good; I did it with my parents’ permission; I’m not sure why he said that, and a successful film needs a modern script and story. Syed Noor is my uncle, and I respect him a lot. Also, I did the movie because I thought that I should try acting in films.”

“I thought they [the producers] were telling me a nice story, but it was actually something else. I didn’t do my homework because it was my first time, and the Canadian male lead also made his debut in this movie,” she explained, “I was let down after seeing it. I had no idea at the time that I should read the script before shooting a movie.”

  • Nawaz open to negotiations with Imran: report

Nawaz open to negotiations with Imran: report

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif is open to negotiating with political rival and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, a private media outlet has claimed amid reports of a high-level backdoor meeting between the government and PTI.

According to reports, significant progress has been made as the government, PTI and the establishment have all acknowledged the need for dialogue.

Nawaz, who had previously rejected the possibility of talks with the PTI along with his daughter and Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, has now showed willingness to negotiate with Khan, reports quoted a senior PML-N leader as saying.

A high-level backchannel meeting, a separate report claimed, was also held between the government and the PTI.

It quoted sources as saying that the meeting was attended by two important players of the government, including a minister and another official, whereas the PTI was represented by a key party leader.

On the outcome of the meeting held Wednesday night, the report added, PTI would have to choose whether it wished to continue with the politics of agitation and confrontation or it really wanted reconciliation.

While there currently are no visible signs that official negotiations between all stakeholders will begin any time soon, events from the night of November 26 during PTI’s violent march on Islamabad, remain a bone of contention between both sides.

Despite the events, reports said, both the government and PTI agree that reducing political tensions through dialogue was essential.

The PTI founder has already formed a committee to hold talks with the government which, reports said, reflects the party’s realisation that its current policy of confrontation could no longer be continued.

Similarly, the government and the establishment recognise that the PTI remains a popular party, and it cannot be eliminated via continuous conflict.

According to reports, both sides will have to compromise. The PTI must recognise the government’s mandate and abandon its immediate demand for elections, while the government must step back from its efforts to exclude Khan from politics.

It may be noted that National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has also offered to mediate between both sides, saying that his office and home were always available for it.

Following the speaker’s statement, reports quoted sources as saying that a parliamentary committee was likely to be formed to initiate formal negotiations. The committee will be entrusted with full authority to deliberate on key negotiation points and make decisions regarding the talks.

  • Ahmed Shehzad has a unique solution for Pak-India matches

Ahmed Shehzad has a unique solution for Pak-India matches

National cricketer Ahmed Shehzad, who has been making statements on social media away from the cricket field, has presented a strange and unique logic for cricket matches between Pakistan and India.

On his YouTube channel, the 33-year-old has suggested building a stadium on the border to host cricket matches between the two countries.

Shehzad sarcastically said, “A cricket stadium should be established on the border, with one door opening in India and the other in Pakistan, and the players of each team should enter the stadium through their door.”

He further said, “After the hybrid model was confirmed in the Champions Trophy 2025, the chances of India coming to Pakistan in the near future have disappeared. Now forget that the Indian cricket team will come to Pakistan. The ICC could not back down from the decision of all the cricket boards to host the Champions Trophy 2025.”

However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has finally resolved the long-standing impasse over the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Under the agreement, India’s matches in the eight-team event will be played at a neutral venue, while in return, ICC events hosted by India will also be played at neutral venues.
