Love is Blind Habibi: Who are the Arab contestants and where are they from?

Longtime fans of Love Is Blind have seen singles from the US, UK, Mexico, Brazil, and other places ask the big question: “Is love really blind?” Now, for the first time, men and women from the Arab world will explore the question in ‘Love Is Blind Habibi,’ Netflix’s first unscripted dating show set in the United Arab Emirates.

Singles go on “blind” dates in separate pods, hoping to find their perfect match. They meet face-to-face only after getting engaged and spend four weeks testing their relationship in the real world. On their wedding day, they decide if their connection is strong enough for a lifelong commitment or if external factors like appearance, money, and family will cause them to part ways.

As always, Love Is Blind explores modern romance, this time focusing on cross-cultural relationships in a region where each country has its own traditions. Read on to learn more about the latest chapter of this global franchise and meet the first group of Arab singles looking for love.

All nine episodes of ‘Love Is Blind Habibi’ were released on October 10 .

The show is hosted by popular Saudi actors and real-life couple Elham Ali and Khaled Saqer. They both starred in the 2018 Netflix sci-fi series Bashar Shorts and got married in 2019. Elham has appeared in Bilal the Sixth (2021) and The Cello (2023), while Khaled is known for Zero Distance (2020) and Fay’s Palette (2021).

This version reflects the unique traditions of the Arab world. Viewers will see singles following cultural pre-wedding customs like katb al-kitab and henna night celebrations. Unlike in many regions, cohabitation before marriage isn’t common here, so the show focuses on the couples’ separate lives and family involvement in the engagement process.

The cast includes singles from across the Arab region, such as Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, Iraq, and more, with many now living in Dubai.

The show was filmed in Lebanon, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai, with the pods located in the UAE.

Celebrities, journalists slam Zakir Naik for misbehaving during Pakistan tour

Celebrities and journalists have slammed Indian scholar Dr Zakir Naik for behaving disrespectfully and rudely in Pakistan. His insulting remarks about women have left many people upset.

    Controversial remarks on hospitality:

Speaking at the Governor House in Karachi, he was offended by recalling his tour to Pakistan and stated that the PIA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) offered him a 50 per cent discount on his overloaded 500 KG baggage and questioned Pakistan:s hospitality.

Zakir Naik said, “If I were in an Indian airport, they would even let me load 1000 KG of baggage free in the plane,” and confirmed he never paid overweight at an Indian airport. “I am a state guest in Pakistan, but my extra luggage was not loaded free.”
Actor Aijaz Aslam took to Instagram to respond to Naik comments, suggesting he should consider the content of his luggage, “Practice what you preach sir ,check tou ye bhee karna chahiye tha k 600 kg saman Mein Kya tha.”

Iffat Omar also tweeted, “I really want to know who thought of inviting him as a State Guest, who?
    @CMShehbaz @pmln_org @MediaCelPPP.”

    Disrespectful remarks about women:

Dr Zakir Naik controversial remarks didn’t stop there, however. “If you ask a good (pious) woman that if you’re not able to find a man who doesn’t have a wife and you have two options, marry a man who is already married or become a bazaari aurat, then a good woman will always say that I’ll go for the first one.”

This statement horrified many celebrities, including Iffat Omar, Nadia Hussain, Anoushey Ashraf and journalist Syed Shafaat Ali Khan. Absa Komal tweeted on X (formerly Twitter): “This man Zakir Naik thinks 13-14 years old orphan girls are ‘khawateen’ (grown-ups) & he can’t share the stage with them.He publicly criticizes national airline for denying luggage fee waiver, also says that women who choose to remain unmarried instead of becoming a second wife to someone are public property (bazaar). He also snubs a Pukhtun girl for asking a legit question about pedophilia.”

“Despite all this, gained some more followers, & some brain dead people are defending him, clearly we as a nation are MAGNET for arrogant people & women haters. State should invite reasonable people, we already have plenty of these roaming on the streets. Yeh Wrong Number Hai!!!!!”, Absa wrote.

Actress Anoshey Ashraf took to Instagram and posted a story with the caption, ““First we say, Allah makes pairs and one’s wedding happens when God wills it. Then we say ‘you’ve got to be someone’s second wife or a bazaari aurat’ if you’re not married in time? How can I be married if Allah hasn’t willed it yet?”
Actress and model Nadia Hussain also shared he views on Instgram, saying, “Unmarried women, you are not bazaari, you are not public property. Married or not married, children or no children you are respectable members of society. Please do not let anyone think of you otherwise.”

While Shafaat Ali tweed, “Here’s something we all need to understand: Women; whether they choose not to marry, struggle to find a suitable partner, or become widows, are NOT public property.

This mindset is neither Islamic, humane, nor rational.

No matter who says it, it’s offensively stupid!”

Sadia Imam reveals her husband stopped her from working after marriage

TV host Sadia Imam has admitted for the first time, after 12 years of marriage, that her husband stopped her from working after her wedding.

Sadia Imam married Pakistani-born German industrialist Adnan Haider in 2012, and they have a daughter.

After marriage, Sadia Imam stayed away from showbiz for a long time, but in recent years, she has appeared in TV programs and at events. In 2020, during an interview, she denied rumors of quitting showbiz and clarified that it was her husband who stopped her, but she had not left the industry.

Now, however, Sadia Imam has openly admitted that her husband did stop her from working in showbiz after marriage.

The actress recently appeared on Samaa TV’s morning show, where she discussed challenges before and after marriage, sharing her own experiences.

During the show, she mentioned that in the past, mothers used to train their daughters well, but that seems to have changed now. She explained that, despite being a well-known actress, her mother would insist she attend family weddings and other functions. “Even if I didn’t want to, I would still go to family events because of my mother’s insistence.”

Sadia Imam said that her parents instilled in her the habit of attending family gatherings, which she still practices today. She believes that this strengthens family bonds and provides valuable lessons. She noted that such training isn’t seen in today’s generation, as the upbringing of girls has changed.

Speaking about women who want to work or pursue a career after marriage, Sadia Imam said that there is a mindset in society that needs to change. She emphasized, “This mentality can be changed through media, including TV programs.”

She revealed, “My husband liked me as an actress before marriage, but after we got married, he stopped me from working in showbiz.”

She shared, “I had the talent and desire to continue my work in showbiz, but there was nothing, just my husband’s ego problem preventing me from working in showbiz.”

  • Can you imagine Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum with different actors?

Can you imagine Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum with different actors?

When it comes to casting the perfect actors for a drama serial, every little detail counts, especially for a drama like ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’ which has become popular because of its gripping storyline and brilliant performances.

But have ever wondered what the drama would be like with a completely different cast?

Hania Aamir plays the character of Sharjeena, and Emmad Irfani plays the character of Adeel.

Recently, Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum director Badar Mehmood appeared on Gloss Etc by Maliha Rehman.

“This is a collective decision, when the story is written and the script is prepared, there are some writers’ inputs involved. The writer (Farhat Ishtiaq) specifically told me that she wanted Hania Aaamir to be cast, and for Emmad Irafani, she mentioned that too. Fortunately, we got both of them because, as you know, there are timeline issues and commitments. The only concern is that there shouldn’t be any commitments. So it was just luck that we managed to get both of them for this drama.”

The host asked, “They also said that if the chemistry is good, the drama will progress well. Did you know from the beginning that this romance might require some censorship?”

Mehmood replied, “Until now, we haven’t had to face any issues on TV. However, when the 25th episode aired, a censor issue came up that I had to address because it was related to romance. In the 25th episode, there’s a scene where Fahad is lying on the bed, and Hania is resting her head on his shoulder. I initially took a wider shot, but then I made it more compact. I thought, when I saw the drama that was the wider shot with both of them lying down and talking. I made it more compact so that it wouldn’t cause too much concern on TV.”

Badar also highlighted how important it is to show closeness in a respectful way, especially when it involves portraying different types of relationships on screen.

“It also depends on the relationship, if it’s a husband-wife relationship, I feel there should be some allowance for that. I spoke to the censor board and said, ‘It’s a husband-wife relationship, it should be fine.’ But if it’s a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, I understand that certain boundaries should definitely be maintained. That’s the beauty of a husband-wife relationship, it should be  shown,” Badar Mehmood added.

Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum is written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Badar Mehmood.

The drama airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8:00 PM on ARY Digital.

  • UK YouTuber Yung Filly Arrested in Australia on Sexual Assault Charges

UK YouTuber Yung Filly Arrested in Australia on Sexual Assault Charges

Yung Filly, a YouTuber from the UK, has been arrested in Australia over rape and assault charges. On October 8,  he was arrested in the Australian city of Brisbane. Then, he was flown to Perth in Western Australia on October 9. He faced four charges of sexual assault without consent, three charges of intentional assault, and one charge of strangulation.

A justice court in Perth Magistrates Court heard Barrientos’ case. The magistrate was also shown photographs of the injuries sustained by the woman, which were inflicted on her body. As for the pictures, the prosecution said, “No ordinary person can consent in those circumstances.”

According to ABC Australia, the police prosecutor, Julius Depetro, was against the bail. He told the court that this has already been the subject of reports of the news and is headlined.

However, after taking the morning to review the submissions, Magistrate Tanya Watt decided to grant Barrientos bail. She acknowledged that there would be a long wait until his charges were settled.

    However, she imposed several limitations.

    Yung Filly

This means that when Barrientos fights the consent and other charges that police prosecutors say they may file, he will stay out of WA. And most importantly, Barrientos will not be allowed to update his millions of followers on social media on the case.

He would provide self-bail for $100,000 on his script. Moreover, he would also surrender a passport with restrictions, and he would have to report to the Northbridge Police Station three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

He would only go up to 500 meters to the complainant or other witnesses. He would also be banned from any hotels and nightclubs. Yung Filly will next appear in court in December.

The recent report has provoked several reactions online. Some take the case that it is hard to believe, while many others stress the need to consider such matters. Many have taken specific social media sites to speak on issues concerning the implications for the public, the celebrities, and the responsibility.

The social media content enjoys great fame and popularity thanks to his humorous videos on YouTube and Instagram. Filly’s fans shared posts on the bar’s social media pages.

Someone said, “Free the filly man.”

A second person commented, “I need to know Chunkz’s response to what he allegedly did.”

A third person wrote, “This broke my heart.”

  • Let ‘Emily in Paris’ remain in Paris, Macron says

Let ‘Emily in Paris’ remain in Paris, Macron says

French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview published Wednesday he hoped that Netflix’s hit series “Emily in Paris” would remain centred on the French capital rather than move to Rome.

The fourth season of “Emily in Paris”, currently streaming, takes events to the Italian capital where the show’s star, played by Lily Collins, seeks to break new ground both personally and professionally.

When the show was renewed for a fifth season last month, the series’ creators said it would play out between Paris and Rome, with Emily having “a presence” in Italy.

Darren Star, the creator and showrunner of “Emily in Paris”, was quoted as saying that the show’s heroine “was becoming very comfortable in Paris. I wanted to throw her into some unfamiliar waters”.

Asked by US magazine Variety what he thought of the move, Macron said he would not take it lying down.

“We will fight hard,” he said. “And we will ask them to remain in Paris.”

Macron’s wife Brigitte has a cameo appearance in the show’s fourth season, in which, during a chance meeting in a restaurant, she says she follows Emily on Instagram.

“I was super proud, and she was very happy to do it,” the president said about his wife’s effort. “‘Emily in Paris’ is super positive in terms of attractiveness for the country. For my own business, it’s a very good initiative.”

Was he asked to appear on the show? “I’m less attractive than Brigitte,” Macron replied.

“Emily in Paris” has been mostly lambasted by French critics for showing the French capital in what they say is an unrealistically glamorous light. Some of them have admitted, however, that it has its moments.

“It’s a saccharine series filled with stereotypes,” judged culture magazine Telerama when the show first aired. “And yet we can’t get ourselves to totally hate it.”

Britain’s The Guardian came to the show’s defence. “Yes, Emily in Paris is unrealistic”, the paper said. “But when it comes to escapist TV, reality is overrated.”

What did Nadia Hussain say about Ayeza Khan’s amazing transformation?

Actress Ayeza Khan’s remarkable transformation has received praise from fellow actress Nadia Hussain.

Nadia Hussain appeared as a guest on the Ambreen Fatima YouTube show where she talked Ayeza Khan’s transformation.

The host asked, “If you look at the current entertainment industry, which women do you find impressive enough to say ‘wow’ when you see them?”

Hussain replied, “Ayeza has definitely changed, I mean her entire persona, every aspect has undergone such a tremendous transformation. Everything about her has improved so much, you know, whenever I see her, I’m like, ‘Oh my God’, I feel proud, and it brings me happiness. Earlier, Ayeza was a very shy person, her confidence wasn’t as evident. But now, everything has changed about her.“

  • Taylor Swift got police escort to London gigs after Austria terror plot

Taylor Swift got police escort to London gigs after Austria terror plot

US star Taylor Swift got a special police escort for her London concerts after an alleged suicide attack plot led to the cancellation of three performances in Vienna.

Culture Minister Lisa Nandy denied the singer was given preferential treatment, after reports she had a motorbike escort usually reserved for senior members of the royal family and politicians.

Her denial comes with the new Labour government under attack for accepting free gifts, including Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who was given six tickets to the Swift concert.

Starmer, who attended the concert with his wife Victoria, announced last week that he had repaid thousands of pounds worth of gifts including the concert tickets.

But Nandy said the police escort, first reported by The Sun newspaper, was not the result of pressure from senior politicians.

“I utterly reject that there’s been any kind of wrongdoing or undue influence in this case,” she told Sky News television.

The interior minister, Yvette Cooper, would not have insisted “any individual got the top level of private security arrangements. That is an operational matter for the police, not for the government,” she said.

Other Labour politicians who enjoyed free tickets for the “Eras” tour shows included Education Minister Bridget Phillipson, London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Nandy herself.

The Swift tour wrapped up its European leg in August in London following dates across a dozen countries.

The last month of the Europe tour, however, was marred by the thwarted Austria attack, with authorities there revealing that an Islamic State sympathiser was planning a deadly attack at a concert in Vienna.

Three suspects were detained and all three August concert dates in Vienna were cancelled after an investigation conducted with the help of US intelligence.

According to The Sun report, Swift’s mother and manager threatened to axe the London shows in August unless she received the police escort.

It alleged that the Met Police agreed after “personal interventions from Cooper and Khan”, stressing that any cancellation would be “economically damaging and embarrassing”.

The Swift tour had been forecast to boost the UK economy by almost £1 billion ($1.3 billion), Barclays bank said in a study entitled “Swiftonomics”.

London’s Metropolitan Police told AFP the force was “operationally independent” with decisions taken on the basis of a “thorough assessment of threat, risk and harm and the circumstances of each case”.
