  • ‘There is something worse than death’: Angelina Jolie shares letter from Gaza survivor

‘There is something worse than death’: Angelina Jolie shares letter from Gaza survivor

Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie has highlighted the humanitarian situation in Gaza by sharing a letter from a young woman describing conditions faced by civilians amid the ongoing Israeli genocide in the besieged strip.

Taking to her social media account, Jolie posted images of children along with screenshots of a letter written by a 26-year-old woman who said she lost her father in an artillery attack and is currently living in a tent with her family, including her paralysed twin. Jolie wrote that the woman described “what daily life is like for her, her family, and her neighbours” and said she wanted to share it as global attention shifts to other crises.

The actress also shared longer excerpts from the letter, which described life in Gaza as marked by continued displacement and daily struggles for survival under difficult conditions.

The letter stated that people had come to realise “there is something worse than death,” describing it as “to keep living, but without a spirit,” while carrying what it called a heavy burden of suffering.

It added that everyday life had become defined by exhaustion, with basic routines turning into difficult tasks, and said that normal experiences had been replaced by constant struggle since the genocide.

The letter further stated that residents move through destroyed streets and buildings covered in dust and debris, adding that people are not only moving through ruins but also through memories of homes and communities that once existed.

It described former neighbourhoods as places where families lived, children played, and normal life existed before being reduced to damaged structures.

It also said that many children have forgotten what schools look like and are unable to continue basic education, while their immediate focus has shifted to access to water and food. The letter added that even small moments of normal life have become difficult to recall.

The message stated that people in Gaza continue to try to hold on to their previous way of life despite the conditions, and that they are still attempting to rebuild a sense of normality from destruction. It added that residents continue to support each other and maintain hope for a future beyond the current situation.

Jolie, who previously served as a special envoy for the United Nations Refugee Agency, visited the Rafah Crossing in January 2026 during a humanitarian trip to Egypt.

According to her earlier statement, she met humanitarian organisations working to deliver aid into Gaza and visited a warehouse holding supplies that had been denied entry, including medical items. She also acknowledged the efforts of volunteers involved in relief operations.

  • Alizeh Shah says she didn’t get surgery, lost ’20 kg’ due to depression

Alizeh Shah says she didn’t get surgery, lost ’20 kg’ due to depression

Actress Alizeh Shah has strongly rejected claims about undergoing cosmetic surgery, saying that her physical transformation came from significant weight loss during a difficult phase of her life.

The actor recently responded to a viral comparison video circulating on social media that questioned her changing appearance. The video suggested she may have had cosmetic procedures, but Alizeh dismissed the claims and called them hurtful.

Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, she expressed disappointment over the accusations and clarified her stance. “Honestly, this just makes me sad, but I just hope God never teaches you a lesson for accusing me of something I never did just to get some views on Insta,” she wrote.

She further addressed the speculation directly, saying, “I’ve said it a billion times, and I’ll say it again—I swear on my mom, I never got any surgery. I lost 20 kgs of weight in 2 months because I was really depressed.”

Alizeh has often responded openly to criticism and online discussions about her personal life and appearance. This time, she made it clear that her transformation had nothing to do with surgery and instead resulted from a period of emotional struggle.

Alizeh Shah rose to fame at a young age and quickly became one of the most recognised faces on Pakistani television.

She gained popularity through dramas like Ehd-e-Wafa, Dil Moum Ka Dia, Ishq Tamasha and Mera Dil Mera Dushman. Over the years, she has also appeared in projects such as Taqdeer, Mohabbat Ki Akhri Kahani, Khail and Ishq Beparwah.

  • ‘Reckless celebrities’: Zara Noor Abbas spreads Taliban propaganda claiming Pakistan bombed health facility

‘Reckless celebrities’: Zara Noor Abbas spreads Taliban propaganda claiming Pakistan bombed health facility

Actor Zara Noor Abbas has fallen in the crosshairs of netizens who took to social media to criticse her Instagram story furthering Taliban propaganda regarding cross-border strikes by Pakistan.

“This is heartbreaking. No rehab facility or hospitals should be targeted in wars. I condemn the attacks that kill children and patients and innocents,” she wrote while sharing The Afghan’s Instagram post wherein it was claimed that dozens were killed and several others injured when Pakistan bombed a health facility across the border.

The post came amid what was termed by authorities in Islamabad as “propaganda” by the Taliban regime as Pakistan continues to carry out precision strikes on terror hideouts in Afghanistan in the aftermath of a spike in suicide bombings on this side of the border, and the Afghan Taliban’s refusal to rein in terrorists belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Pakistan on Tuesday maintained that it had targeted Camp Phoenix — a former US military base currently being used by Afghan Taliban forces — even as Afghanistan claimed a drug rehabilitation centre had been bombed instead.

According to Information Minister Atta Tarar, an ammunition storage facility was among the targets hit in the Afghan capital. However, reports from Kabul said that a drug treatment centre known as ‘Omid Camp’ was targeted, with Afghan officials claiming hundreds dead and injured as a result.

In a statement, Tarar said that Pakistan conducted six “precise, deliberate and professional” strikes in Kabul and Nangarhar on Monday night, as part of Islamabad’s Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, to dismantle terrorist infrastructure being used by the TTP to launch attacks in the country.

As with established practice, all six strikes were promptly put out with video footage by the information ministry, making the nature of the targets plain for all to see, he noted.

“The visuals leave no room for doubt,” the info minister said, adding the flames and secondary detonations witnessed in Kabul further confirm that the intended ammunition storage site was hit.

“No hospital, no drug rehabilitation centre, and no civilian facility was targeted,” he said.

However, the post by the actor came as similar posts from the Afghan side flooded the internet, and did not sit well with a number of netizens.

“If our celebrities are falling for Afghan propaganda then, it’s a matter of great concern,” wrote one user.

Another said that actors such as Abbas with a huge following “should not be reckless” and verify what they post online.

Earlier, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also went on to hint at possible staging of the incident by the Taliban regime for “international sympathy”.

Meanwhile, government officials noted that a systematic campaign to undermine Pakistan’s anti-terror agenda had been launched on social media.

  • ‘You people make these calls’: Javeria Saud hits back at ‘planted callers’ criticism

‘You people make these calls’: Javeria Saud hits back at ‘planted callers’ criticism

Pakistani host Javeria Saud has reacted strongly to allegations that calls on her Ramzan transmission are planted, as viral clips from the show continue to spark debate online.

The program, aired during Ramzan, has drawn attention for its unusual live calls, particularly during segments featuring Maulana Azad Jameel. Several of these interactions have gone viral, with some social media users claiming the calls are scripted to boost ratings.

Addressing the criticism, Javeria rejected the claims and insisted that the calls come directly from viewers.

“As far as calls are concerned, you people make these calls. Many times it has happened in shows that someone calls and says something strange. Our audience gets entertained by calling us. When they are asked outside what they want to say, they say something else, but once the call is connected and it is confirmed that they are live with Javeria, they say something completely different. Sometimes such questions are asked that we just end up laughing. After all, we are human,” she said.

She also responded to questions about background sounds during calls, including Azaan, which some viewers had pointed out.

“When we receive calls from Lahore, there is often the sound of Azaan in the background. One day we got a call from Lahore, another day from Multan, and in many of those calls, Azaan could be heard in the backdrop. So here, can Azaan be given before Maghrib? Over there, it happens earlier,” she explained.

Javeria further spoke about the scrutiny she faces online, saying every reaction from her becomes a talking point.

“Here, it has become a problem. If we laugh, people ask why we are laughing. If we cry, they ask why we are crying. If I laugh, it goes viral. If I cry, it goes viral. Whatever I say goes viral. Even if I joke, it goes viral. It’s hard to understand whether this is my popularity or if it is turning into criticism. But there are also some people who take everything positively and see things from a different perspective. There is a big difference between joking and making fun of someone,” she said.

Clips from the show often feature unexpected and sometimes unusual questions, which many viewers find controversial.

Javeria Saud, a long-time figure in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, has worked as an actress, producer and host. She appeared in popular dramas like “Yeh Zindagi Hai” and continues to host Ramzan transmissions each year.

She is married to actor Saud Qasmi, and together they have remained active figures in the drama industry both on and off screen.

Rajab Butt’s mother reportedly says family will ‘forgive’ Emaan if she returns home

YouTuber Rajab Butt’s mother has reportedly spoken out amid ongoing tensions between her son and his wife Emaan Fatima, saying that the family is ready to forgive her if she chooses to return.

An audio message attributed to Rajab Butt’s mother has gone viral on social media, in which she urged her daughter-in-law to come back and save her marriage.

She said, “That foolish girl is ruining her home. By God, if she returns today, we will forgive her and forget everything.”

  • Top five cringeworthy, bizarre moments from this year’s Ramzan transmissions

Top five cringeworthy, bizarre moments from this year’s Ramzan transmissions

This year’s Ramzan transmissions have featured moments that left viewers questioning the content being aired across major channels. From unconventional questions to unexpected quiz responses, the broadcasts have raised eyebrows on social media.

One such moment occurred during Express TV’s Piyara Ramzan when a caller asked a question about breaking a fast in an unusual situation. The caller said, “If I do not have water or dates with me at the time of iftar, can I break my fast with a cigarette?” The question quickly circulated on social media as viewers reacted uncredulously to the exchange.

Another call on the same transmission, hosted by Javeria Saud, involved a university student seeking advice about money given for charity. The caller explained his situation, saying, “I study at a university and I have a girlfriend who wants me to take her shopping for Eid. She has been insisting on it, but I am not earning right now and I do not have money. My parents gave me some money to donate as charity. Can I use that money to take her shopping instead?”

The religious scholar on the program responded firmly: “You should fear God. The foundation of this relationship is not correct in the first place. Why are you trying to turn something that is not permissible into something permissible? How could you even think of using a sacred form of charity in this way?”

A similar exchange appeared on a Samaa Digital podcast hosted by Falak Chohan, where another caller asked a question related to charity and personal relationships. The caller said, “My girlfriend is facing financial difficulties. Can I give her zakat?”
The religious scholar responded by questioning the premise of the request. He said, “The question itself is wrong. May God guide all of us. This is not a permissible relationship. Why don’t you give it to someone from your own relatives instead?”

Meanwhile, a moment from ARY Digital’s Shan-e-Ramzan also gained attention during a quiz segment hosted by Waseem Badami. During the round, a participant was shown a picture of political leader Maryam Nawaz and was asked to identify the person in the image. The participant replied, “Benezir Bhutto.”

Another clip that circulated online came from Ramzan Pakistan, airing on PTV Network and hosted by Jugan Kazim and Ahsan Khan. During a discussion segment, Ahsan Khan asked a guest to suggest five top series on Netflix or Amazon that people should watch, a question that prompted discussion on social media about the type of topics being introduced during Ramzan programming.

These incidents have highlighted a shift in Ramzan programming, where religious guidance and entertainment intersect, sometimes in unexpected ways, prompting discussion among audiences about the relevance and approach of live transmissions during the holy month.
