Azaan Sami Khan does not like sharing private life on social media because of religious beliefs

Azaan Sami Khan talks at length about his creative processes but keeps his private life out of bounds of social media.

In a recent interview, Azaan elaborated on his perspectives regarding marriage and family dynamics. He referred to nikah as a sacred connection and indicated that upholding the bond also involves safeguarding dignity and privacy. “I have certain religious beliefs that some relationships are sacred, and they should only be revealed when kept in modesty. As a Muslim, I believe nikah is a very sacred bond, and it also protects the respect of the woman,” he said.

He added that modesty in marriage holds equal significance to love and companionship. “I am not saying that I haven’t made my share of mistakes in life, but I believe everyone has the right to work on themselves for the better. I would like to be known for my work, not for posting about the person in my life,” Azaan stated.

He mentioned that social media has normalized the sharing of intimate aspects of life, but he is of the opinion that certain elements should remain private. For him, shielding family life from unnecessary exposure to the public is part of honoring both religious and cultural principles.

His comments have attracted attention online, with many recognizing that his viewpoint represents a conscious decision to distinguish personal commitments from social media norms.

Azaan hails from a notable artistic lineage. He is the offspring of singer Adnan Sami Khan, who moved to India after making a name for himself in Pakistan, and actor Zeba Bakhtiar, an influential personality in the film and television realm.

Now at the age of 31, Azaan has established himself as a music composer and assistant director. He tied the knot with his childhood friend Sofia Bilgrami when he was 20. The couple welcomed two children, Ibrahim and Laila, before parting ways in 2022.

Despite the end of his marriage, Azaan remains committed to emphasizing the significance of valuing the institution of marriage. He believes that maintaining boundaries and honoring privacy is essential for nurturing such a relationship. For him, keeping personal matters out of the public eye is not about evading attention, but about fulfilling what he considers a religious and moral obligation.

  • Social media slams ARY for putting grieving Ahmad Shah on screen

Social media slams ARY for putting grieving Ahmad Shah on screen

Pakistani child star Ahmad Shah broke down in tears while remembering his younger brother Umer Shah during ARY’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

Ahmad, who rose to fame through his viral videos and appearances on television, was invited to the event alongside his elder brother. On stage, he broke down in tears while remembering his late brother Umer, who passed away earlier this month. ARY hosts Fahad Mustafa and Waseem Badami were present with him, consoling the young star as he struggled to hold back his emotions.

Umer Shah, the younger brother of social media and television star Ahmad Shah, passed away on September 15 in Dera Ismail Khan. His sudden death followed a rapid health decline at home. According to his family, Umer began vomiting late at night, and fluid entered his lungs, which led to his untimely death. This was the second loss for the Shah family in a short period. In  2023, Ahmad Shah’s younger sister Ayesha passed away.

During the ceremony, Ahmad also met ARY CEO Salman Iqbal, where he once again broke into tears while meeting him. Umer had been a familiar face on shows like Jeeto Pakistan and Shan-e-Ramzan before his sudden passing, which left the entertainment industry and audiences across Pakistan in shock.

Footage from the anniversary soon spread online, sparking mixed reactions. Many social media users expressed grief and support for Ahmad, writing prayers for patience and strength for the family. One user commented, “May Allah give them sabr. These little hearts must be broken.”

Others questioned why Ahmad was brought to such a public platform during a period of mourning, with one comment reading, “The parents are literally playing with the mental health of their children.” Others directed criticism towards ARY and its hosts.

Several users specifically called out Waseem Badami, saying he lacked sensitivity in handling the emotional moment. One comment read, “Someone, at least Waseem Badami, should have some sense of sensitivity.” Another accused the channel of exploiting Ahmad’s grief, writing, “ARY is doing all of this for TRP and views.”

Others echoed similar sentiments, describing the appearance as unfair to Ahmad. “This is straight up exploitation. This is sheer madness,” one user wrote.

The discussion has highlighted the fine line between paying tribute to a late family member and exposing a child star to public grief in front of television audiences. While some saw the moment as a heartfelt remembrance, others saw it as a case of insensitivity and commercialisation of tragedy.

  • Why education? Shehzad Roy showcases students who prove him wrong

Why education? Shehzad Roy showcases students who prove him wrong

Musician and philanthropist Shehzad Roy is once again making waves and not with his music, but through his powerful advocacy for educational reform in Pakistan.

In a series of heartfelt and inspiringly viral social media posts, Roy has been spotlighting students from the schools run by his nonprofit organization, Zindagi Trust, drawing widespread praise for the confidence, intelligence, and eloquence of the children, especially young girls like Amara, Umaiza, and Khadija.

Roy’s videos often show these students speaking on complex topics with clarity and self-assurance that defy their age. In one viral clip, a student named Amara corrects Roy on his definition of “news,” prompting laughter and admiration across social media platforms. In others, students discuss education, history, and social issues, offering a glimpse into the transformative impact of the Zindagi Trust’s progressive curriculum and learning environment.

    Instagram Post

“She corrected me, and she was right,” Roy said in one video, smiling proudly. “That’s what education should do—teach children to think critically, to speak up, and to be confident in their knowledge.”

Founded by Roy in 2003, Zindagi Trust has become a beacon of hope in Pakistan’s struggling public education system. The organization takes over government-run schools and revamps them with better infrastructure, trained teachers, a child-friendly curriculum, and a focus on arts, sports, and technology—elements often missing in conventional public schools.

The Current reached out to Roy to learn more about his ongoing work in the education sector, particularly through the initiatives of Zindagi Trust and Durbeen.

“We want to change the paradigm of teacher training in this country,” Roy told The Current. “We’re bringing major changes in government schools and government colleges, and we want people to see and understand the impact.”

To amplify their work, Roy and his team are using satire and storytelling to engage the public. “We’ve incorporated satire in our videos to highlight this in a more relatable way,” he said. “We’ve also created a number of videos featuring children in Geo’s show Chal Parra.”

Looking ahead, the campaign will also include a new song and a film titled Alif Noon, both aimed at capturing attention and generating wider interest in educational reform.

“We’re not preaching, we’re telling stories in an interesting and engaging way,” Roy emphasized, “We’ve already achieved major success in transforming the teaching and education model, and even bigger changes are coming.”

According to Roy, the broader goal is to connect with the public and build momentum for replicating these reforms nationwide. “This campaign is about helping people understand what Zindagi Trust and Durbeen are doing and encouraging them to be part of it.”

Under Roy’s leadership, flagship institutions like Khatoon-e-Pakistan Government Girls School and Fatimah Jinnah Government School have been transformed into model schools. These schools not only provide quality education but also foster critical thinking, gender equality, and creativity.

By showcasing young girls from these schools, Roy is also challenging long-held gender stereotypes and emphasizing the importance of investing in girls’ education. His posts often go beyond showcasing academic excellence, portraying these students as confident individuals capable of independent thought and leadership.

“These girls are proof that when you give children—especially girls—access to quality education, they thrive,” Roy shared in one of his captions. “They’re the future of Pakistan.”

Roy uses his platform not just to celebrate these students but also to advocate for broader education reform. His approach—mixing storytelling with social impact—has earned him widespread recognition both in Pakistan and internationally.

  • Jennifer Lawrence slammed for ‘insincere’ Gaza comments after two years of silence

Jennifer Lawrence slammed for ‘insincere’ Gaza comments after two years of silence

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is facing backlash online after finally addressing the Israeli war on Gaza, calling it “no less than a genocide” during a press conference at the San Sebastian Film Festival.

While some praised her for speaking out, many on social media questioned why it took so long for the 35-year-old star to publicly comment on a humanitarian catastrophe that has already claimed over 65,000 lives and left more than 160,000 injured.

“I’m terrified and it’s mortifying,” Lawrence said at the event, where she was being honored with the Donostia Award. “What’s happening is no less than a genocide and it’s unacceptable. I’m terrified for my children, for all of our children.”

However, her words were met with skepticism online. Critics accused the actress of “performative activism” and “jumping on the bandwagon” months into a crisis that has sparked worldwide protests, calls for ceasefires, and condemnation from humanitarian groups.

“She was doing propaganda for her bff Amy Schumer (in Variety no less) at the start of the genocide,” one user posted on X (formerly Twitter), referring to Lawrence’s defence of Schumer who came under fire for unabashedly siding with Israel. “I guess Jennifer finally got to her preferred number for murdered Palestinians to finally say something. I guess 650k dead was enough for her. She thought 10k wasn’t enough. Evil woman.”

Another one wrote: “Melissa Barrera spoke up from the beginning, risked her Hollywood career, was fired, nearly blackballed, smeared, all for supporting a Free Palestine. Any other celeb speaking up after TWO years now that it’s “safe” and PR-friendly is just a f*cking ghoul and an opportunist.”

Another wrote: “crazy how so many zionist celebrities are backtracking and acting like they’re good people now that the public opinion has shifted against Israel, do they think we’re stupid????”

“I want ONE celebrity just one to be like “I fell for the propaganda and I’m sorry for being so dumb” like be HONEST about why you’re saying what you are now,” one user said.

While on her video on Instagram, one user commented: “It was unacceptable 2 years ago as well, where where you sweetheart?” and another said: “Wow! Took her only 2 years and 680,000 killed Palestinians to finally speak up.”

At the same press conference, Lawrence also spoke about attacks on free speech in the U.S., tying it to the role of cinema and artistic expression. “Our freedom of speech and expression is under attack… I wish there was something I could say, something I could do to fix this extremely complex and disgraceful situation,” she said.

But for many online, that sentiment rang hollow. “Seems insincere and forced,” one user said.

“Celebrities waiting until it’s safe to speak, then acting like they’re heartbroken heroes, is part of the problem,” another comment read.

While some supporters defended Lawrence, noting that any voice added to the outcry helps amplify awareness. “Can we plz be grateful for anyone speaking up against what is going on right now?? Instead of having ego battles of who spoke first or last. This isn’t about us and none of us owns this story apart from the Palestinian people living it every single day. Any voice is welcome as the goal is to stop this atrocity not winning at being a better human being on social media.”

Lawrence’s film Die, My Love screened at the festival, but the red carpet moment was largely overshadowed by the controversy sparked by her remarks.

  • Aryan Khan’s series The Ba***ds of Bollywood gets Season 2 confirmation despite legal troubles

Aryan Khan’s series The Ba***ds of Bollywood gets Season 2 confirmation despite legal troubles

Indian actor Rajat Bedi has officially confirmed that Season 2 of The Ba***ds of Bollywood, Aryan Khan’s much-talked-about web series, is currently in development.

The first season, which garnered significant attention for its bold satire and star-studded cameos, has received widespread praise for offering a gritty and humorous look into the underbelly of the film industry.

In an interview, Bedi shared that the series has been a turning point in his life and career. “Suddenly, my life has taken a U-turn,” he said. “It feels like the rain is finally over and the sun is out shining bright.” Bedi, who plays the character Jaraj Saxena, a washed-up actor desperately seeking a comeback, has received critical acclaim for his performance, which many say mirrors his real-life journey in the industry.

Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and helmed by Aryan Khan, the show explores the darkly comic world of Bollywood through the eyes of outsiders trying to make their mark. The series features an ensemble cast including Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, Lakshya, and Sahher Bambba, with memorable cameos from Ranbir Kapoor, Salman Khan, and others.

Bedi revealed that Aryan Khan personally reached out to him for the role while Bedi was in Canada. “He was a bit nervous when we first met, but his clarity of vision was impressive,” said Bedi. He also shared that Aryan allowed his son to assist behind the scenes as a condition for his own involvement in the project and that deeply impressed him.

The show’s growing popularity has not been without controversy. Former Indian Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede has filed a defamation suit against the series, alleging it misrepresents real-life events related to the 2021 cruise drug case involving Aryan Khan. Additionally, a complaint was filed over Ranbir Kapoor’s on-screen use of a banned e-cigarette, prompting the NHRC to step in.

Despite the legal tussles, anticipation for Season 2 is running high. Actress Ananya Panday’s recent social media posts have further fueled speculation about her involvement in the upcoming season.

However, Delhi High Court on Friday questioned maintainability of the defamation suit filed by Wankhede, stating: “Your complaint is not maintainable here in Delhi. Look at the cause of action jurisdiction. If your case was that you were defamed at various places, including delhi, and maximum damage occurred in Delhi, we would have understood and still considered the matter here,” the HC said.

No official release date has been announced as yet.

Umair Jaswal introduces wife to fans on first wedding anniversary

Renowned Pakistani singer and actor Umair Jaswal marked a special milestone in his personal life by introducing his wife to the public on their first wedding anniversary.

The couple is currently on a spiritual journey performing Umrah in Saudi Arabia, and Umair has been sharing heartfelt moments from Mecca and Medina.

Jaswal, who tied the knot for the second time in September 2024 in an intimate ceremony, posted a touching tribute to his wife on social media. Alongside a serene photo of the two, he wrote: “To my wife, you are my shade in the scorching sun. The Rizq I once prayed for. You are the calm in my smile and the peace that fills my heart. May Allah protect you always, and may His divine light always surround us. Happy anniversary, my love. Even eternity will feel too short with you. I love you. Forever yours.”

The singer’s marriage in 2024 came months after his highly publicized divorce from actress Sana Javed. Jaswal and Javed were once considered one of the entertainment industry’s most admired couples. However, their marriage reportedly deteriorated due to Javed’s alleged involvement with Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. The controversy intensified when Javed and Malik confirmed their own marriage in January 2024, while reports suggested their relationship began during her marriage to Jaswal.

In an interview after second marriage, Jaswal expressed gratitude for the positive response and support from his fans, who were initially concerned but are now happy for him. Jaswal also emphasized the importance of privacy for himself and his partner, stating his preference for being recognized for his accomplishments rather than his personal life.

“God takes you through a journey and brings you to the right place, and when you reach at the right place, the journey itself makes you appreciate your destination,” he said.

Jaswal shared the news of his second marriage in an Instagram post in October, 2024, while his remarriage remained private until his anniversary post, which has since garnered an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities alike.
