Fawad, Mahira’s Neelofar set for theatrical release this winter

After years of anticipation, the much-awaited film Neelofar, starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, is finally slated for release this winter.

The film marks the on-screen reunion of the beloved duo, who rose to stardom with their iconic television drama Humsafar in 2011.

Mahira Khan recently unveiled the official poster of Neelofar on Instagram, captioning it with a poetic message: “Agli mulaqat ka intezar rahay ga. Neelofar – This Winter.” The announcement has reignited excitement among fans eagerly awaiting the film’s release.

Directed and written by Ammar Rasool, Neelofar has been in the making since 2019. Production was initially delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced the team to pause filming with only 10 days remaining in the shoot. However, shooting eventually resumed and was wrapped up in late 2020, with key sequences filmed in the historic Walled City of Lahore.

Speaking at an event in June last year, Fawad Khan confirmed that the film had entered its final stages of completion.

Mahira, too, had previously shared emotional reflections from the set, hinting at a deeply personal connection to her role. Though the original posts have since been removed, her words, “I take with me a piece of you… leaving a bit of my soul with you,” captured the sentiment surrounding the project.

With the film now heading to cinemas, Neelofar is expected to recreate the magic of Humsafar and offer audiences a memorable cinematic experience.

The duo’s last collaboration was 2022’s The Legend of Maula Jatt that earned over PKR 274.7 crore (approximately $9.5 million) worldwide, with PKR 115.02 crore in Pakistan and PKR 160.8 crore in other territories as of December 2022.

It should be mentioned here that the power duo will again be seen together in the upcoming Netflix series Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo.

‘Didn’t think people would like it,’ Hasan Raheem shares Gilgit wedding details

Singer Hasan Raheem has shared details about his Gilgit wedding and celebrations, saying he didn’t think people would love them.

In an interview with BBC Asia journalist Haroon Rashid, Hasan opened up about his traditional Gilgit wedding. At his mother’s request, he wore traditional cultural attire and through his wedding, the world got to see the rich traditions of Gilgit-Baltistan.

On the wedding, Hasan wore traditional Gilgit-Baltistani clothing and performed a traditional dance, which was widely appreciated for its authenticity and cultural richness.

He called his wedding week the best week of his life, adding that through his attire, dance and celebrations, people across the world learned about Gilgit-Baltistan’s wedding customs and cultural heritage.

Hasan expressed special gratitude to his mother who encouraged him to wear the “shouqa” (a traditional coat).

“I really liked my cap and the jacket I wore called Shuqa which was actually my father’s… gifted by my nana (maternal grandfather).” Decorated with a feather and called “shati”, he said the credit of his look goes to his mother.

Hasan admitted that he didn’t expect people to appreciate his attire, traditions or dance as the traditional dance is usually performed by a select few within the community. “I wasn’t sure that people are going to like it but everyone loved it.”

He shared that he was initially worried about how people would receive his dance, but after the videos surfaced online, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive with many commenting that they had never seen such a dance before and found it incredibly impressive.

“I was surprised by the response. Before the dance went viral, I told his friends that if music didn’t work out, I’d pursue dancing instead.”

When asked about expressing love for his wife, Hasan said that before bringing her on camera, he had many thoughts running through his mind, but he silenced them all, trusting that what he was doing felt right.

He once again emphasised that his wedding week was the best of his life. Although he initially didn’t plan to share the wedding publicly, his mother asked him, “Should we confiscate the phones of all the wedding guests?” To which he said no. “I said to my mom, our relatives will not approve of the idea.”

As a result, many videos of the wedding were filmed and later went viral on social media, giving the world a glimpse of the beauty of Gilgit-Baltistan’s culture.

Hasan Raheem got married to Noor, a close relative, in August, with the celebrations lasting an entire week.

Rajab Butt, Anas Ali among influencers booked for promotion of gambling apps

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has filed separate cases against three well-known social media influencers, namely Rajab Butt, Anas Ali and Hurairah, accusing them of promoting gambling through online betting applications and deceiving their audiences.

The complaints were lodged in Lahore under various provisions, including the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), fraud and other applicable laws. The accused allegedly served as brand ambassadors for these gambling platforms, enticing the public to invest money by promising high financial returns.

Before initiating legal proceedings, the NCCIA had issued formal warnings to the influencers. Authorities claim the influencers’ promotions led thousands of people to invest their savings into these apps, resulting in financial losses amounting to crores of rupees.

On Sept 6, the NCCIA issued official summons to several high-profile YouTubers and influencers as part of its investigation into the promotion of online gambling and betting apps. Among those called to appear before the agency were Rajab Butt, Iqra Kanwal and Anas Ali. Written notices were also sent requiring their presence for questioning.

Butt, who has been residing in Dubai and frequently traveling to the UK, is reportedly the central figure in the probe. He has been specifically accused of urging young people to invest in online gambling apps, promoting trading and betting platforms through his social media channels and designing a coordinated scheme to mislead the public and rob them of their money.

The official notice also said that if Butt fails to appear, it will be assumed that he has no defence or explanation to offer.

Shakeel Siddiqui reveals refusing massive Bigg Boss offer

Veteran Pakistani comedian Shakeel Siddiqui has revealed that he turned down a major offer to participate in India’s hit reality show Bigg Boss, despite being promised big benefits and a non-exit, two-month guaranteed stay.

In a candid conversation on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Siddiqui shared that showrunners approached him with an attractive proposal, offering not just a hefty paycheck but also full creative freedom within the house. “Yes… a very big offer. I could do anything and eat anything there,” he admitted. But even with all the perks, Siddiqui declined.

Explaining his decision, he said, “I told them, being the only Pakistani among all Indians would spark chaos and they admitted that’s exactly what they wanted. But I still said no.”

Known for his strong moral stance, Shakeel also touched on the state of the entertainment industry in Pakistan, criticizing “unnecessary vulgarity” in dance performances and expressing his shock over what is passed off as “item numbers” in Pakistani films. Drawing comparisons, he remarked, “Even a boy can look good while dancing like Hrithik Roshan in India. Wearing short clothes is not a requirement.”

Shakeel further disclosed that he was approached multiple times for Pakistan’s reality show Tamasha as well but rejected it too, citing concerns over the quality of participants. “If I ever join, I want other contestants to be senior artists with a proper body of work — not TikTokers,” he asserted.

Addressing criticism over his work in India, Siddiqui reminded audiences that several renowned Pakistani comedians, including Umar Sharif, Babu Baral, and Rauf Lala, also performed there. “I didn’t go to just any show, I worked with celebrities on Sony TV’s Comedy Circus, and also with Kapil Sharma,” he said, emphasizing the prestige of his projects.

In a moment of reflection, the seasoned comedian noted, “I’ve worked in this industry for 35 years… but no one remembers that.”

It should be mentioned here that Pakistani actress Veena Malik made headlines when she participated in the fourth season of India’s popular reality show Bigg Boss in 2010. Known for her bold personality and controversial statements, Veena quickly became one of the most talked-about contestants of the season. Her on-screen chemistry with Indian actor Ashmit Patel drew significant media attention in both India and Pakistan.

  • ‘Best chapter’: Vick-Kat announce first pregnancy

‘Best chapter’: Vick-Kat announce first pregnancy

Bollywood actors Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif have officially announced that they are expecting their first child, ending months of speculation and fan anticipation.

The couple took to Instagram to share the happy news, posting a photo in which Vicky is seen gently holding Katrina’s baby bump. The caption read: “On our way to start the best chapter of our lives with hearts full of joy and gratitude.”

The announcement has been met with widespread congratulations from fans and celebrities alike. Although the couple has not disclosed many details, several media reports suggest that Katrina is currently in her third trimester, with the baby expected to arrive in October 2025.

Vicky and Katrina, often referred to by fans as “VickKat,” got married on December 9, 2021, in a highly private ceremony at the Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan. Their relationship was largely kept away from the public eye until the wedding, which was attended by close friends and family members under strict confidentiality.

The couple reportedly met for the first time around 2018–2019 at a party hosted by filmmaker Zoya Akhtar. However, it was their playful on-stage interaction during an award show that first sparked public interest.

Vicky Kaushal later revealed on Koffee With Karan that he proposed to Katrina just a day before the wedding. The proposal happened during a quiet dinner at their resort in Rajasthan, adding a personal and spontaneous touch to their love story. “It was last-minute,” he admitted, explaining that both had been occupied with wedding preparations.

Rumors about Katrina’s pregnancy have been circulating for months, fueled by her absence from public events and noticeable wardrobe changes. Speculation reached a peak in mid-2025, when paparazzi photos appeared to show the actress with a visible baby bump during a brand shoot in London.

According to sources cited by several entertainment portals, the couple has been spending more time away from the spotlight in recent months. Vicky has reportedly scaled back work commitments, and Katrina has not signed any major film projects since wrapping up her last shoot earlier this year.

The couple have not yet revealed the baby’s gender.

“It was I who first gave superstar Mahira Khan her initial job as a VJ on Aag TV,” he said while appearing on a podcast with his wife and co-producer Shazia Wajahat.

On how he hired Mahira, Wajahat revealed, “Many years ago, I was attending a launch event where I first noticed Mahira. I saw her dancing and enjoying the event wholeheartedly. She stood out because of how clearly she was enjoying herself.”

“After that, I decided to hire her as a VJ on my channel. Once she was hired, we had an agreement that she would report directly to me. She worked at the channel for 3 to 4 years, and since then, I have shared a very close bond with Mahira.”

When asked about working with Mahira, Wajahat and his wife said, “In the past, we’ve intended to work with Mahira several times, but due to scheduling conflicts or remuneration issues, it never happened. However, we do plan to work with both Mahira and Fawad Khan in the future.”

  • Yasir Hussain takes a dig at Haris Rauf over viral hand gesture during India clash

Yasir Hussain takes a dig at Haris Rauf over viral hand gesture during India clash

The high-voltage cricket match between arch-rivals Pakistan and India has now spiraled into a storm of controversy, not over cricketing performance, but a fiery gesture that has the subcontinent buzzing.

Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf found himself in the eye of a media hurricane after responding to jeering Indian fans during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours clash with a set of hand gestures that quickly went viral.

In a moment that has split the internet and ignited debate on both sides of the border, Rauf first flashed “6-0” with his fingers — a reference to the number of Indian planes downed by the Pakistan Air Force in May’s military clashes. He then followed it up with a theatrical gesture mimicking a fighter jet soaring and crashing.

The act drew roaring cheers from many Pakistani fans on social media, with even Defence Minister Khawaja Asif chiming in on X to applaud the cricketer.

But not everyone was impressed, least of all actor-director Yasir Hussain, who took to Instagram with a fiery rebuke.

Taking to Instagram stories, he wrote, “Brother, that’s the Pakistan Air Force’s credit, let them have it.” “Your job is to play cricket — which, frankly, you’re not doing well.”

In a previous post, he urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to suspend matches for a year and instead focus entirely on retraining and rebuilding the national squad, a statement that stirred the pot even further.

Meanwhile, Indian media has erupted in fury, slamming Rauf’s behavior as “unsportsmanlike” and “provocative”. Some even called for a total boycott of cricketing ties with Pakistan.

On Sunday, Pakistan scored 171 runs while batting first. India began their chase with an aggressive start but stumbled midway, losing four wickets in quick succession. However, steady middle-order batting guided India to a six-wicket win, securing the victory with seven balls to spare.
