  • Sidra Niazi shines in hilarious horror comedy Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi

Sidra Niazi shines in hilarious horror comedy Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi

In a refreshing departure from traditional melodramas, Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi brings a delightful blend of horror and comedy to Pakistani television, and at the heart of this whimsical tale is a powerhouse performance by Sidra Niazi.

Known for her emotive portrayals of sensitive, often vulnerable characters, Niazi now proves her versatility by stepping into a role filled with comic timing, suspense, and unexpected depth.

Directed by the acclaimed Saife Hasan and penned by the celebrated writer Syed Nabeel, the drama is anything but ordinary. It tells the bizarre yet wildly entertaining story of Zara (played by Sidra Niazi) and her husband Asad (Arsalan Naseer), who move into a haunted mansion after the sudden passing of Asad’s father. In his will, Asad’s father stipulates that the couple must live in the eerie haveli — valued at a staggering 800 million rupees, if they wish to claim their inheritance, they will have to live there for six months. Tempted by greed, Zara convinces her husband to take the plunge into the unknown.

The narrative kicks off with the couple arriving at the house under the pretence of visiting Asad’s unconscious father. But the twist of fate soon reveals their new reality — an ominous mansion, inhabited by vengeful jinns with a mission to drive them away.

From the very first scene, Sidra Niazi seizes the spotlight. Her expressive face, comedic timing, and ability to switch between fear, frustration, and sarcasm give life to Zara in a way that is both engaging and hilarious. One standout moment comes when a clock’s hands begin to move on their own. As Zara panics, her reactions are nothing short of brilliant, a perfect balance of slapstick humor and genuine fright that leaves viewers in stitches.

In another now-viral scene, Zara is seen crying while cutting onions in the kitchen, only to turn around and discover that the chopped onions have miraculously returned to their original state. A jinn, disguised as her husband, questions her about the situation. Confused and exasperated, she insists, “I even cried because of those onions! How could they be whole again?” The scene, though absurd, is carried with such natural flair by Niazi that it feels oddly believable — a testament to her growing mastery as an actress.

While the drama officially stars Wahaj Ali and Sehar Khan in leading roles, it is Sidra Niazi who is winning hearts and headlines. Her performance has been widely praised by fans and critics alike, with many applauding her for breaking out of the “crying daughter-in-law” stereotype that so often plagues women in Pakistani serials.

The mansion itself becomes a character. A dark, sprawling, and cinematically haunting, it adds layers of suspense that contrast wonderfully with the script’s sharp humor. The jinns, determined to scare the couple out of the house, devise increasingly ridiculous and spooky tricks, giving the drama its signature eerie-comedy flavor. As viewers, we find ourselves equally amused and unnerved — a rare feat for a Pakistani television drama.

The ensemble cast also includes stellar names like Romaisa Khan, Laiba Butt, Syed Jibran, Irfan Motiwala, and Tamkenat Mansoor, each contributing to the drama’s offbeat yet captivating atmosphere.

For audiences weary of recycled saas-bahu clichés, Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi offers a breath of fresh air. The dialogues are witty, the cinematography is visually stunning, and the direction keeps the pace crisp without sacrificing the story’s heart.

Sidra Niazi has steadily built a name for herself in the Pakistani drama industry. Before this genre-defying role, she was lauded for her performances in dramas like Qayamat, Zakham, and Badzaat, where she played more emotionally intense characters. However, Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi has firmly cemented her as a multi-faceted performer capable of leading both dramatic and comedic narratives with finesse.

In this fantastical new drama, Niazi will definitely going to get the best actress in a comic role, viewers’ choice award.

  • Dua Lipa fires manager over his support for Israel

Dua Lipa fires manager over his support for Israel

Dua Lipa has reportedly fired her longtime manager David Levy after learning of his alleged involvement in efforts to have Irish rap group Kneecap removed from the Glastonbury Festival lineup.

Reports claim Levy’s name appeared at the bottom of a confidential letter sent to festival founder Michael Eavis, urging that Kneecap be dropped due to their supposed political affiliations. The letter, described as “private and confidential”, was later leaked, prompting Lipa to sever ties with Levy once she became aware of his role.

Lipa, who has been vocal in her support for Palestine, has previously condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide and used her Instagram where she has over 80 million followers, to amplify her views. She has also taken part in protests criticising the UK’s involvement in the apartheid.

Despite the controversy, Kneecap performed at Glastonbury. Police inquiries into the matter were closed due to a lack of evidence. The group characterised the situation as an example of “political policing intimidation”. Group member Mo Chara still faces a separate case related to allegedly displaying a Hezbollah flag at a different event.

Lipa remains signed with William Morris Endeavor (WME) but has appointed a new agent who reportedly aligns more closely with her political stance.

Meanwhile, her Radical Optimism world tour continues, following a recent performance at Madison Square Garden and with upcoming shows planned across North and South America through late 2025.

  • ‘Pain and grief’; Mira Sethi opens up about divorce two years ago

‘Pain and grief’; Mira Sethi opens up about divorce two years ago

Pakistani actor and writer Mira Sethi has candidly opened up about her divorce, shedding light on the emotional and societal impact it had on her and particularly as a woman in the public eye.

During a recent podcast appearance, Sethi revealed that she quietly went through a divorce in March 2023, during the filming of her critically acclaimed drama Kuch Ankahi.

“Just a few months after we started working on Kuch Ankahi, I got divorced,” she shared. “It was March 2023, about two and a half years ago and I was in the midst of it while shooting. It was a very tender, delicate, and powerful time in my life. In that sense, I was lucky to have something I could channel my energy into.”

When asked if portraying her character helped her process the experience, she responded: “It gave me something to do. I would wake up, go to set, and of course Sajal [Aly], [Muhammad] Ahmad sahab, and director Nadeem Baig knew what I was going through. They were all so gentle and supportive.”

Sethi also reflected on how divorce is perceived in our society, particularly for women. She recalled a line from an older drama she acted in, which struck a chord with her: “There was a line… I can’t even remember the name of the drama but it went, ‘Ek talaaq yafta aurat maashray ke liye kanta ban ke reh jati hai’ (A divorced woman becomes a thorn for the society). I remember sitting on a bed, delivering that dialogue, and it has stayed with me.”

While she acknowledged that societal attitudes are gradually shifting, the stigma still lingers.

“Things are definitely changing… slowly, yes, but they are. Anecdotally, many actresses I work with have also gone through this. I could say their names but we know who they are. And conversations like these are important. But yes, along with the pain and grief, there’s also something deeper.”

“Divorce is not just painful; it’s a collapse of narrative,” she continued. “You ask yourself, who am I now? How do I relate to the world or even to myself? Being married is not just cozy and comforting, it gives you a framework, a story to belong to. And when that ends, the story ends too.”

Mira Sethi married her longtime love interest Bilal Siddiqui in an intimate ceremony in California in November 2019. Despite her parents Najam Sethi and Jugnu Mohsin both being well-known journalists and her brother Ali Sethi being a celebrated singer, Mira has carved out her own distinct identity in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

She is best known for her performances in Paristaan, Kuch Ankahi, and the film Cake, earning praise for both her acting talent and her thoughtful, socially relevant storytelling.

  • Umar Hayat indicted in TikToker Sana Yousuf’s murder case

Umar Hayat indicted in TikToker Sana Yousuf’s murder case

In a major development, Umar Hayat, the primary suspect in the high-profile murder case of TikToker Sana Yousuf, has been formally indicted.

As per the details, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka conducted the hearing of the Sana Yousuf case, during which police presented Hayat before the court.

Judge Majoka formally framed charges against the accused. However, Hayat pleaded not guilty and chose to contest the case. He denied all allegations, calling them baseless and fabricated.

The court adjourned the proceedings until September 25 for the next phase of the trial.

Sana Yousuf was fatally shot in Islamabad on June 3. Initial investigations suggest that Hayat had been persistently harassing the social media star for friendship, which she consistently declined. The final confrontation reportedly turned deadly when Sana tried to calm him, warning about nearby CCTV cameras before gunshots rang out.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that Sana was shot twice and died on the spot. The suspect fled the scene, and her body was later shifted to PIMS for autopsy before being released to the family. Hayat was arrested a day later from Faisalabad.

  • Rajab Butt ‘celebrates birth of son in UK’ amid legal troubles back home

Rajab Butt ‘celebrates birth of son in UK’ amid legal troubles back home

Controversial Pakistani YouTuber and TikToker Rajab Butt has sparked fresh online debate after a video surfaced on social media showing him celebrating what appears to be the birth of his son, while being thousands of miles away from his family in Pakistan and facing mounting legal troubles at home.

In the widely circulated video, Rajab Butt is seen dancing in the streets of the UK, surrounded by balloons emblazoned with “baby boy” and accompanied by celebratory drum beats. Though the video strongly suggests the arrival of a newborn, Butt has yet to officially confirm the birth of his child.

The content creator had previously announced that he and his wife Emaan were expecting their first child. The family also held a lavish baby shower. His wife, who was living with her parents after a conflict between the two, also came back to Rajab’s house in Lahore. The controversial vlogger remained in Dubai meanwhile before departing for the UK, citing legal threats as the reason for his continued absence from Pakistan.

In a recent video, Rajab mentioned having a bad dream about his family and urged fans to keep his wife and unborn child in their prayers. Social media platforms have since been flooded with speculation and congratulatory messages, though no official announcement has been made by Rajab or his family regarding the child’s birth.

The celebration video comes at a time when Rajab Butt is embroiled in serious legal controversies. Just last week, a Lahore court directed the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to take legal action against the YouTuber over blasphemy allegations.

The accusations stem from the controversial launch of his perfume brand earlier this year, during which Rajab was accused of hurting religious sentiments and mocking blasphemy laws. Following public outcry and a case filed under Pakistan’s cybercrime laws, he issued a public apology, claimed he meant no harm, and announced the closure of the brand. Shortly thereafter, he left Pakistan.

Adding to his woes, the Lahore High Court (LHC) recently sought a detailed report from police in connection with a rape case in which Rajab Butt and two others, including Man Dogar, were named. During a hearing on the bail petition of co-accused Salman Haider, the investigating officer informed the court that Haider had been found guilty in the preliminary inquiry.

However, the complainant’s lawyer argued that the investigation was deeply flawed, raising concerns about how Rajab Butt and Man Dogar were cleared of charges. The court has now asked the authorities to explain the basis for their release.

The news of his son’s birth is yet to be confirmed till the time of reporting this video.

The announcement has sent waves of excitement across Bollywood and among fans around the world, as the duo’s on-screen chemistry has consistently been a winning formula at the box office.

Deepika confirmed the news via Instagram, sharing a behind-the-scenes glimpse with a touching message: “He taught me that the experience of making a movie, and the people you make it with, matter far more than its success.” The message was a tribute to Shah Rukh Khan, who played a key role in launching her career with their debut film together.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, known for helming major action hits like Pathaan and War, King is already one of the most anticipated projects of 2026. While details about the plot remain under wraps, reports suggest the film will feature Shah Rukh in a gritty, intense role unlike anything he’s done before. Deepika is expected to play a central character with strong emotional and action-driven arcs, adding yet another layer to their dynamic partnership on screen.

Over the years, their pairing has become successful and fan-favorite.

Notably, King will also feature Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan in what is expected to be her first major theatrical role following her debut in The Archies on OTT.
