Pakistani actor and model Mariyam Nafees recently opened up about an incident in which a man kept asking her inappropriate questions.
Sharing screenshots of the messages he sent, Nafees took to social media and wrote, “Actress hu, prostitute nahi. (I’m an actress, not a prostitute).”
“I’m sick of these proposals and I’ve tried whatever I could to make them stop but this is what I’m going to do now. It affects my mental health, it disturbs me that some people think this is what my business is. NO! I’M NOT FOR SALE!,” wrote Mariyam on her Instagram.
Senior actor Hina Bayat stepped forward in support of Mariyam, commenting, “Never let it bring you down…because the fault is with them, not you.”
Earlier Humaima Malick had shared a similar incident in which she was harassed at a local hotel.
“I can’t even keep count of times business cards of men that I do not know have been slipped under the door of my room at various well known and supposedly safe hotels. Just because a woman is from entertainment business does not, DOES NOT means that she wants business cards slipped under her door,” the actor had written in a note shared on social media.
Evidence of the harassment I had to endure at Nishat Hotel. Be aware if you lose a loved one and someone dies in your family while staying at Nishat – you cannot cry in your room otherwise people might drop business cards pic.twitter.com/tF5R0iynJW
I am sharing my experience because I think its high time when i should come forward and share my experience against harassment and how an educated class also chose to ignore it and take such important issues lightly @TheNishatHotel pic.twitter.com/OtRwJ5EQXD

Turkish film Miracle In Cell No 7 – 7. Koğuştaki Mucize in the local language – is coming to Pakistani cinemas on March 13.
HKC Entertainment, an entertainment company primarily involved in acquiring and distributing Bollywood and Hollywood movies in Pakistan, shared the news on social media.
The Legend of Maula Jatt producer Ammara Hikmat also confirmed the news. Though Hikmat said that the film will be the first Turkish film to release in Pakistani cinemas, a quick Google search revealed that Muhabbat Ek Ittefaq was released in Urdu earlier in 2013.
First Turkish Film in Pakistani cinemas all set to release on 13th of March..
The film based on the 2013 Korean movie Miracle in Cell No 7 is “a heartwarming story” about the love between a mentally-ill father, Mehmet, who is wrongly accused of murder, and his young daughter. Mehmat is sentenced to death for a crime he didn’t commit and is innocent. He needs a miracle so that he can be reunited with his daughter.
7. Koğuştaki Mucize has a rating of 8.3 on IMDb and was reportedly the most watched Turkish film in 2019.
The film will be releasing in Turkish with English subtitles. It starres Aras Bulut Iynemli, Nisa Sofiya Aksongur and Deniz Baysal.
The first look of Emmad Irfani and Ghana Ali’s Gawah Rehna based on the Khilafat Movement is out.
Emmad, who stole the audiences with his performance in Cheekh, shared the poster on Instagram.

According to the film’s official social media account, Gawah Rehna “is a story celebrating our history and our unsung heroes.” It is set in the 1900s when the Muslims of the subcontinent stood up against the British Raj and started the Khilafat Movement.
“It is a story of courage, hope and resilience against incredible odds and that’s why it will make its viewers proud of their history and their heroes who stood up against tyranny and injustice.”
The film is written and directed by Tahir Mahmood who has served as an official of the Foreign Service in Turkey. It will be released in Pakistan and Turkey both. Earlier, it was being reported that the film is a joint production with Turkey but Emmad later clarified that the film is entirely a local production and that it will be released in Turkey. Veteran actor Qavi Khan is also an integral part of the film. An official release date has not been announced.
Meanwhile, speaking exclusively to The Current, Emmad shared that the vision for the film came about when the director was living in Turkey. Mahmood was intrigued by the respect the Turks have for the Pakistanis and that is what motivated him to study the history of the two countries. He found that the brotherly ties of both the countries date back to the early twentieth century and the findings fascinated so much that he decided to make a film on it to further the ties between the two countries as well as highlight them.
Talking about his own character, Emmad said that his character belongs to interior Punjab and through the course of the film realises his life goal and purpose.
When asked what motivated him to do this project, given that it is his debut film, Emmad said that he wanted to highlight Pakistan’s history and that films are a very powerful medium to do that.
“Much of the subcontinent’s history has been presented to the world through Bollywood. Pakistan’s point of view is not known as such,” the actor remarked, adding that our history it is imperative for the world to see our history.
Irfani also said that the strong script and the director’s blind faith and passion is what motivated him even further.
Here are some BTS shots from the sets of the film.
Rich tributes poured in from Pakistan and across the border for veteran comedian and stage actor Amanullah, who passed away on Friday at the age of 70 after prolonged illness.
Comedians Kapil Sharma and Johnny Lever were among those who expressed their grief over the comedian’s death. While Sharma tweeted his condolences, Lever while speaking to a Pakistani TV channel expressed his grief and praised Amanullah for being “a great stand-up comedian”. Ahmed Ali Butt’s take on the Aurat March and the slogan ‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi‘ has elicited strong reactions from all around. While there are some who agree with his comments that the Aurat March is a “foreign-funded movement”, others are calling him out for his ignorance and misuse of privilege.
Among those criticising Butt is Osman Khalid Butt who has been vocally advocating for the Aurat March on social media. Osman threw shade at his fellow actor without taking his name.
Let. Me. Say. It. Again. People who believe women's rights are a joke or 'foreign propaganda', who turn a blind eye to the atrocities women face daily in this country, who refuse to educate themselves despite their privilege, should definitely not procreate till they evolve.
— Osman Khalid Butt 🇵🇸 (@aClockworkObi) March 6, 2020
Bro muting you. You're clearly doing this for self-promotion. Women in Pakistan are using this slogan to speak up for their rights, to claim ownership over their bodies. But aap lagay raho. Congratulations on your newfound fame. pic.twitter.com/flDsm1etMc

Other Twitter users also schooled Butt for his comments.
Feroze Khan has announced that he is quitting the showbiz industry and “will only act and provide my services for the teaching of Islam.”
– my fans have been waiting for a statement from me. I announce that I quit the showbiz industry and will only act and provide my services for the teaching of Islam through this platform if needed else anything but this InshAllah,Request you all to pray for me and my loved ones.
Feroze’s announcement comes weeks after he deactivated his Instagram account and his wife, Syeda Alizey posted a picture in an Instagram story praying for her husband’s spiritual journey giving rise to speculations that the actor was quitting the entertainment industry.
Earlier, Hamza Ali Abbasi had said that he was quitting the industry but later said that he hasn’t quit acting but is, in fact, taking a break to focus on his spiritual journey.
Thankyou❤. As i said in my video, i haven't quit acting bcz i dont see it any whr in Islam as being haraam in itself. I just took a long break from acting to give more time to religion & insha Allah will make & maybe act in projects made within boundaries Allah has set for us.
It is pertinent to mention here that Feroze and Hamza performed Hajj together last year along with Atif Aslam.
Khan started his career as a host and made his TV debut in 2014 with the drama serial Chhup Raho. He made his film debut with Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai in 2016 alongside Sajal Aly. He later played a lead role in the drama serial Khaani which was a big hit propelling him to stardom. The trailer of his upcoming film Tich Button recently dropped and his latest drama Ishqiya is currently on-air.
On the personal front, Khan is the younger brother of acclaimed actor Humaima Malick. He tied the knot with Syeda Alizey Fatima Raza in 2018 and has a son with her.
‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi‘ has managed to ruffle more feathers than anything else and Ahmed Ali Butt has joined the bandwagon of those who are criticising the slogan without understanding it.
In a lengthy message posted to social media, Butt said while he has no sympathies for Khalil ur Rehman Qamar or Marvi Sirmed, he has even little sympathy for the “people who exploit the so-called ‘Mera J Mery XYZ’, adding that it is a western campaign. The actor stated that “When it comes to women’s rights, Islam has the most rights and respect for women.”
Shehzad Roy, Adnan Malik and activist Nayab Gohar Jan have perfectly explained the slogan for those who are still unable to understand the concept behind it.
Don't understand the problem so many are having with #MeraJismMeriMarzi"-Mera jism meri marzi nahi toh kis ki marzi ho gi?? "My body is mine" is a critical component of the Life Skills Based Education classes we teach to help children protect themselves from abuse & harassment
Agar kisi ko sadiyon se mukkay maaray ja rahay hain toh kya aap uss ke aaj cheekhnay pe ye kahen ge ke tone behtar karain? #tonepolicing#womensday#MeraJismMeriMarzi
I’m in awe of the sheer power of 4 words strung together: #MeraJismMeriMarzi This slogan has destabilized centuries of patriarchy & triggered a man renown for his eloquence; unmasking a rabid, inarticulate, hate-spewing misogynist. Just 4 words. How frail our male egos can be.
Yes I will, because they are claiming autonomy over their bodies, zara research kar len ke is slogan ka matlab kya hai. Aap logon ka masla ye hai ke aap 'jism' ka lafz suntay hain aur sirf Bipasha Basu ya Sunny Leone ki film yaad aa jaati hai. https://t.co/G8sXE1qbxt

#MeraJismMeriMarzi is a powerful slogan- Bodies, especially female bodies, are contested spaces throughout history and wars have been fought over the same. Always used as a prop in power relationships of states, corporations and individuals. pic.twitter.com/AGdNLP4s45
Earlier, singer Quratulain Balouch had passed a problematic statement regarding the Aurat March. She later explained her comment after Twitter schooled her for it.
Amanullah had on March 3 once again been admitted to a private hospital in Lahore after his health deteriorated.
He had been shifted to the hospital for the fourth time as his condition was not getting stable. He was suffering from multiple medical complexities such as lungs, kidneys and breathing issues.
According to Amanullah’s family, he was admitted to hospital after his condition got precarious and that he was on ventilator.
The family had also appealed to the actor’s fans to pray for his recovery.
Mahira then, temporarily deactivated her Twitter account, and Twitterati believe it is because of the massive backlash she was facing from twitter trolls about her positive stance on Aurat March.
Congratulations to all the activists who trolled Mahira Khan. You got what you wanted. She has deactivated her Twitter account. Hope you count it as a win. Idiots.
This makes me so upset honestly. Mahira Khan is probably the only person from the industry who is so vocal about every topic and she has never been harsh towards anyone. You guys don't deserve her.
Mahira Khan deactivated her account because people can't respect an opinion here anymore. You all campaign for free speech but you start schooling instead of a respectful discourse. Good luck with recruiting for a cause with this sort of mental rigidity.
Mahira had beautifully stated why she was speaking up on behalf of Pakistani women and why there is a need for Pakistani women to be given a voice and a platform.
I’m sure those who have been organizing the Aurat March are experienced, have been working for years for the cause of women..they have a better idea of what should and should not be done. I write out of pure observation. #WhyIMarchpic.twitter.com/D3AUQYM3Re
