Mahira Khan reveals her favourite gift in a relationship

Film stars Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed offered fans a charming glimpse into their thoughts on love, gifts, and relationships during a YouTube interview promoting their upcoming romantic comedy Love Guru.

Humayun Saeed shared that he doesn’t want anything material from his wife, just her “permission and consent.” His unexpected answer even left Mahira Khan surprised.

“I just want her to say, ‘Go, do whatever you want, wander around, and then come back home,’” he elaborated.

When Mahira was asked, “What gift do you want in a relationship?” she smiled and said, “I like small things as gifts,” adding that bangles are something she truly appreciates.

On the topic of love and green signals in relationships, Humayun Saeed added, “Belief is a green signal.”

Mahira praised his answer, saying, “He’s very smart. He gave both answers very intelligently.”

She noted, “First he said that his wife should allow him to do anything, and then he said belief matters, which means he wants his wife to trust him even after giving him permission.”

The video clip quickly went viral on social media.

  • Javed Akhtar hits back at Bushra Ansari; blames Pakistan for Muslims’ troubles in India

Javed Akhtar hits back at Bushra Ansari; blames Pakistan for Muslims’ troubles in India

Despite tensions between Pakistan and India dying down, a war of words between celebrities on either side is continuing with Indian screenwriter, lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar responding to veteran Pakistani actress Bushra Ansari’s jab.

Bushra had earlier this month taken a jibe at a “so-called writer” in India as tensions brewed between the two countries and viral videos showed Indian celebrities training guns at Pakistan. “He was just waiting for an excuse. He cannot even get a house on rent in Bombay. He’d say anything for his survival,” she had said without naming the writer.

“Even Naseeruddin Shah is quiet… others are staying silent too… why can’t he?” she had questioned without naming the “so-called writer” but it had come following a viral video that showed Akhtar demanding strict action in response to last month’s Pahalgam attack.

At least 26 people were killed in a terror attack in the Pahalgam area of held Kashmir when unidentified gunmen had opened fire on innocent tourists on April 22. India had alleged Pakistani involvement – an allegation denied by Islamabad while offering independent probe – and later launched cross-border strikes. The attacks had led to intense clashes between the two countries till a ceasefire was agreed to with the help of United States (US) amid heavy losses on the Indian side.

“Who are you to give me advice? Who gave you the right over me? Why are you expecting me to stay quiet? I might have 25 problems, but I am an Indian when it comes to her,” Akhtar said while calling out Bushra in an interview with The Lallantop on YouTube.

While he confirmed the claim that his wife Shabana Azmi was 25 years ago denied a flat in Mumbai for being a Muslim, he said the “bitterness” in Hindus was rooted in their treatment in, and exit from, Sindh during the time of Partition back in 1947.

“If the owner of the property did not sell us the flat, it was because of you [Pakistan],” he said.

The interview comes days after Akhtar drew the ire of Pakistanis when he said he would rather go to hell than to Pakistan. “People from both sides abuse me,” he said at the launch of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s new book ‘Narkatla Swarg’ in Mumbai on May 17.

“One calls me a Kaafir (apostate), saying I will go to hell. The other calls me a jihadi, asking me to go to Pakistan. So, if I only have a choice of going either to hell or to Pakistan, I would rather like to go to hell,” he had said, overlooking the hospitality he received on all his trips to the country, including the latest in 2023.

‘I haven’t quit acting’; Sonya Hussaiyn breaks silence on rumours

Actress Sonya Hussaiyn has finally clarified rumours about her career, saying she “has not quit acting” and “does not intend to,” but has simply reduced her workload for now.

A few days ago, Sonya stirred conversation during an interview when she said that if her future husband doesn’t allow her to work in showbiz after marriage, she would consider leaving acting. She also mentioned that since she is now moving into production, she “doesn’t plan to act for too long.”

Following that interview, speculation spread across social media suggesting that Soniya had decided to leave acting altogether. Addressing the rumours, the actress has now set the record straight.

In a recent interview with a social media influencer, she explained, “I haven’t left acting, and I don’t intend to. I’ve just reduced it for now.”

Sonya also spoke about the difference between acting and producing, stating, “Production is a better and more meaningful kind of work.”

She also discussed her upcoming horror film Deemak, revealing that the film has been handled with care because “almost the entire team consists of senior professionals.”

Addressing rumours about her role in the film, she clarified, “I’m not playing a witch, but yes, my character does have some negative shades.”

Responding again to the question of quitting acting, Sonya reiterated, “Since I’ve stepped into production, I’ve cut down on acting for a while, but I haven’t said goodbye to it.”

  • Internet reacts to THAT ‘Fifty Shades’ scene from drama Mann Mast Malang

Internet reacts to THAT ‘Fifty Shades’ scene from drama Mann Mast Malang

The hit Pakistani drama Mann Mast Malang, a tale of love, revenge, and feuding families, has found itself at the center of a social media storm after a recent episode featured an intense romantic scene many viewers called “inappropriate” and “offensive.”

Written by Tere Bin writer Nooran Makhdoom and directed by Ali Faizan, the drama stars Danish Taimoor as Kabir Khan and Sahar Hashmi as Riya Asghar Ali.

The story follows two rival families torn apart after Kabir accidentally kills Riya’s mother sparking a complex emotional and romantic entanglement between the two leads.

While the drama has maintained popularity across Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and Nepal for its gripping storyline and strong performances, its recent episode drew backlash for a scene that many felt crossed the line of decency. Kabir forcefully grabs Riya and pulls her into a passionate dance sequence, which was meant to portray emotional intensity but instead left many viewers disturbed.

Shortly after the episode aired, X (formerly Twitter) filled up with reactions both critical and humorous. One viral post sarcastically labeled the scene, “Fifty Shades of Gluta Taimoor (Pakistani version).”

Another user wrote, “Every clip of Danish Taimoor I’ve seen today has been against my will.”

Critics accused the show of glamorizing harassment and pushing the boundaries of acceptable content on mainstream Pakistani TV.

“It’s quite sad to see that Pakistani dramas, once celebrated for their subtle romance, are now borrowing indecency from Indian content.”

“Harassment is being normalized in Pakistani dramas.”

Others expressed broader concerns about the impact of such portrayals on audiences, with one comment reading, “These vulgar dramas have destroyed the innocent minds of people.”

Others took aim at Danish Taimoor himself, with fans pointing out a contradiction between his real-life image and the kind of scenes he’s now portraying on screen.

Further controversy erupted after another scene showed Kabir handcuffing Riya to a bed to stop her from leaving. This moment quickly went viral and divided the internet.

Some called it “cringeworthy” and “overdramatic,” while others defended the scene by pointing out how audiences often accept similar scenes in Western or Indian content without backlash.

“Drama is too good. The story, the script, and the performance are perfect, but being this physical is making me hate it.”

“Lately, Pakistani dramas are turning into short-reel dramas we scroll past in our feeds.”

Mann Mast Malang has aired 41 episodes so far and continues to receive both praise and criticism. While many fans appreciate the chemistry between Danish Taimoor and Sahar Hashmi, a growing number are calling for greater cultural sensitivity in how romantic or intimate scenes are portrayed.

Some fans are urging production houses to remember the cultural context and audience expectations, asking, “Are ratings more important than values?”

  • ‘No more child brides’: Saba Qamar raises her voice with UNICEF

‘No more child brides’: Saba Qamar raises her voice with UNICEF

UNICEF has launched a powerful new video campaign with renowned actress and National Ambassador for Child Rights, Saba Qamar, to raise awareness about child marriage in Pakistan.

In the video, Saba Qamar urges communities to speak out and take action. She talks about the dangers young girls face when forced into marriage including poor health, lack of education, and lost opportunities.

“Why should any child in Pakistan be forced into a marriage they didn’t choose,” she asks in the video. “I met a brave girl named Anam Nazir, only 14, who stopped three child marriages in her area. That’s the kind of change we need.”

Pakistan has the sixth highest number of child brides in the world, with nearly 19 million girls married before turning 18. Most drop out of school, and many face serious health risks from early pregnancy.

Unicef’s representative in Pakistan, Abdullah Fadil, said that child marriage often comes from poverty and harmful traditions. “We need stronger laws, more support for girls, and cultural change,” he added. “How can Pakistan move forward when half our children are left behind?”

Unicef praised the recent decision in Islamabad to raise the legal age of marriage to 18 and urged other provinces to do the same. The campaign is part of a larger effort with UN partners to protect children and support youth leaders across the country.

“Saba Qamar is a powerful voice for change,” Fadil said. “Together, we want every child  especially every girl to grow up safe, educated, and free to choose their future.”

  • ‘Feroze Khan’s fans threatened to kill me,’ reveals Nadia Afgan after her criticism goes viral

‘Feroze Khan’s fans threatened to kill me,’ reveals Nadia Afgan after her criticism goes viral

Senior actress Nadia Afgan has revealed that she received death threats from fans of actor Feroze Khan after she criticised him during a recent interview.

Nadia appeared as a guest on Kya Drama Hai for the second time this week. Referring to her earlier appearance where she discussed ongoing Pakistani dramas, she was asked, “Did you also receive death threats?”

“Yes, some people seriously threatened me,” she revealed.

Initially, she did not name anyone, but later in the interview, she confirmed that the threats came from fans of Feroze Khan.

“Feroze Khan’s fans got very emotional. They didn’t like my criticism and sent messages saying they would kill me,” she stated.

She further revealed that the abuse didn’t stop at threats; his fans also questioned her talent.

“They told me I didn’t know how to act and that I was criticising the best actor,” she said.

Nadia responded to the hate with composure. “I usually don’t reply to such messages, but this time I did. I told them, ‘Maybe I’m not beautiful, but I do know how to act.’”

For context, in an earlier episode of Kya Drama Hai, Nadia had commented on Feroze Khan’s drama Humraaz, calling him a “difficult actor” who tries to impress co-stars.

“I haven’t worked with him, but I’ve heard from many actresses that it’s not easy working with him,” she had said.

She had added, “I also heard that he lives in isolation and tries to isolate or intimidate his co-stars. But that’s just what I’ve heard, it’s not my personal experience.”

However, despite the death threats and criticism that followed, Nadia Afgan revealed in the next episode that her commentary on television dramas had also been widely appreciated.

“Many actors have sent messages praising my comments,” she shared.

However, some of her colleagues also advised her to be more cautious with her criticism.

“They said we all belong to the same industry, so I shouldn’t be so harsh,” she added.

According to Nadia, most of the appreciation came from the younger generation of actors and general audiences, many of whom messaged her personally to express their support.

She also noted that while her remarks sparked some criticism, many appreciated her honesty.
