    Rickshaw driver allegedly rapes woman, minor daughter

    A rickshaw driver along with his companion have allegedly gang-raped a woman and her minor daughter near LDA Avenue, ARY News reported on Monday.

    According to the police statement of the victim, the rickshaw drove the mother and the daughter around before stopping it at a shady spot near LDA Avenue where the driver, along with his friend, allegedly raped them both.

    The woman said she reached Thokar Niaz Baig on a coach and sat in a rickshaw for Saddar Cantt, but then the accused drove them wayward and finally parked the vehicle at LDA Avenue in the dark of the night.

    Chung Police have arrested the suspect while the victims have been taken to the hospital for medical tests.

    Police said they are still gathering more evidence into the case and confirmed the rickshaw had the registration plate LEU-4882, which the alleged rapist abandoned when victims shouted for help.

    “They both raped me and my daughter one after another inside the rickshaw,” the victim said, adding that they ran away when they shouted for help.
    FIR states that the suspects snatched a phone and Rs5,000 cash from the woman as well.

    Suspect in Minar-e-Pakistan incident gets pre-arrest bail

    A Lahore session court, on Saturday granted pre-arrest bail to a suspect, identified as Shehroz Saeed, who was allegedly involved in the horrendous mass sexual assault case at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 14.

    The bail is until September 3. According to Saeed’s lawyer, he is ready to cooperate with the authorities, and therefore, the court should direct police authorities to refrain from arresting him.

    Lahore police have arrested 66 people through geo-fencing, face matching, and conducted raids at 26 different places so far, confirms Government Spokesperson Shahbaz Gill.

    The police officer said that the woman who was attacked, Ayesha Akram, and her colleagues will identify the suspects during the parade and the remaining suspects.

    Ayesha Akram was attacked by 400 men when she was trying to record a video with four of her friends to celebrate Independence Day.

    Samar Khan has clarified her stance after a handful of people tried to dismiss her achievement.

    The Current reached out to Samar after her audio clip was leaked on social media by a journalist Jamil Nagri in which she was allegedly being angry at the journalist and locals of Gilgit-Baltistan for dismissing her feat.

    When we asked her about the area she covered on her bicycle and on foot, she said: “Around 15-20 per cent of the trek is paddled by me, in remaining parts I mostly dragged and lifted my bike, as there was hardly a trek for proper walk.”

    When we questioned her about the leaked audio, she clarified: “It’s a leaked WhatsApp audio, where my response has been uploaded on Twitter by a local Balti Journalist Jamil Nagri, whose abuse on social media I was answering at that time. He, with his few friends, started mocking and abusing me on different platforms and the audio is more than this, but a specific chunk has been leaked to use it against me and to get sympathies by using GB (Gilgit-Baltistan) card and arousing emotions of the locals.”

    “Being an athlete, I just rode my bicycle, which made these weak men insecure enough to play these games against me,” she added.

    “I already released my statement on Twitter with an apology but still receiving life threats and abuse.”

    Taking to Twitter, she wrote: “I take complete responsibility of my words but keep in mind it was a personal voice note intended for a single individual, so all of my F’s goes to him only, because nobody can bring here a single public post of mine which spreads hate between #GB.”

    “I offer my apologies to Balti friends whose sentiments got hurt by my words. I am grateful for all the love I always received from GB. I wish the complete abuse would have been shared here instead of uploading a chunk from my response to manipulate people for personal sympathies,” she said in another tweet.

    12-year-old boys ‘gang rape four-year-old girl’ in Punjab

    A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two minor boys aged 12 and 13 in the fields in Lodhran district of the Punjab province, ARY News reported on Friday.

    According to the police, the suspects took the girl to the nearby fields in Lodhran and sexually assaulted her. “Both of them are aged 12 and 13 years old,” police said, adding that they later left the girl in the fields.

    She was later taken to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.

    The police said they have detained one of the suspects involved in the crime. “The other suspect will also be arrested soon,” the district police officer (DPO) said while advising the citizens to play their role in identifying and reporting such incidents.

    A silver medalist in the javelin throw from Poland was auctioned off to help pay for a child’s heart surgery.

    Last week, Andrejczyk, who is a bone cancer survivor, announced on Facebook that she would sell her medal and donate the funds to a surgery for Miloszek Malysia, an 8-month-old boy.

    This week, Andrejczyk announced the auction winner.

    The Polish convenience store chain Zabka made the top bid, paying $125,000 for the silver medal, but instead of collecting the prize, the company announced it would let Andrejczyk keep the silver medal after all.

    “We were moved by the beautiful and extremely noble gesture of our Olympian,” the company said in a Facebook post translated from Polish. “We also decided that the silver medal from Tokyo will remain with Ms Maria, who showed how great she is.”

    A female reporter, Sumaira Khan is reporting live from Afghanistan for a private Pakistani English News channel, Indus News.

    Sumaira, while giving updates, said that there is still chaos at Kabul International Airport. Afghans without documents are trying to leave the country while the Taliban have been blocking Afghans trying to flee.

    The Taliban took over the country rapidly. They declared that the war in Afghanistan is over after taking control of the Presidential Palace in Kabul on August 15 while the president of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani fled the country.

    Sumaira is reportedly the only Pakistani female reporter reporting from Afghanistan.

    As per reports, a Tamil comedian named Mayilsamy gave an unusual gift to the couple. The images of the wedding ceremony and the gift have gone viral on social media platforms.

    Mayilsamy went up to the stage to congratulate the newly-wed couple. He gifted them with two plastic cans filled with petrol. This gift was assumed to be Mayilsamy’s jibe at the increasing fuel prices in the country.

  • 19-year-old girl takes off solo flight around the world

    Zara Rutherford, a 19-year-old pilot, took out on Wednesday for a three-month journey to become the world’s youngest woman to fly solo around the globe, Reuters has reported. Rutherford dreams of becoming an astronaut.

    Rutherford took off in her Shark ultralight, the world’s fastest microlight aircraft, from Kortrijk-Wevelgem Airport in western Belgium.

    “Growing up, I loved aviation and STEM – science, technology, engineering and mathematics, but I didn’t see many other women or girls doing that. I just always thought that was quite sad or discouraging,” Rutherford told Reuters. “I’m hoping that I can encourage girls to go into this field.”

    “I love adventure, and I think space is probably the biggest adventure out there,” she added.

    Rutherford will take the title from Shaesta Wais, who became the youngest woman to fly solo round the world at 30.
