    Suspect involved in rape of a dead body killed in police encounter

    Police have killed a man accused of raping a dead body of a teenage girl in Thatta district, in an alleged encounter, ARY News reported.

    As per reports, the Sindh police had earlier detained accused Rafique Chandio for committing an abominable act.

    “Accused Rafique Chandio tried to escape from police detention. He opened fire at policemen at Babra Mori near Gharo, and was killed in the counter fire,” police said.

    SSP Thatta said that the encounter happened at Babra Mori. “This man had become a symbol of terror for the local people,” SSP said. “Some political people were exerting pressure on the family of the girl and police to avoid action against him,” SSP said.

    Special Assistant to CM Sindh Sadiq Memon on Saturday confirmed that the police has arrested the man who allegedly dug up a teenage girl’s dead body and sexually assaulted it.

    The 14-year-old girl’s body was taken out of her grave after it was buried at a local graveyard on Friday. The body was then raped.

    The man dumped the body in the bushes after sexually abusing it and ran away.

    On August 15, India’s 75th Independence Day, balloons with ‘I love Pakistan’ imprinted on them were found in the fields of Sandoa village in the Rupnagar district of India’s Punjab, ANI cited police as saying.

    Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Rupnagar Dr Akhil Chaudhary said it can be “activities of some miscreants”, adding that a probe is underway regarding the matter.

    “It looks like balloons came from a nearby place but we can’t rule out other angles. A probe has been initiated,” Chaudhary was quoted as saying.

    Earlier, Indian forces lodged an First Information Report  (FIR) against Pakistani spy pigeon. The pigeon was allegedly carrying a “suspicious piece of paper tied to its legs” when it landed on the shoulder of an Indian army officer who was on guard duty about 500 meters from the border.

    Last year in May, Indian forces were engaged in the same operation when a pigeon with a pink patch and tag on its leg was captured as a “suspected Pakistani spy.”

    Google has released a doodle artwork of medieval Derawar Fort located in the Cholistan Desert of Punjab to mark Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day.

    “Seventy-four years ago today, Pakistan achieved independence. Today’s doodle celebrates Pakistan Independence Day, a public holiday commemorating the day on which the nation became a sovereign republic.

    “Pakistanis across the subcontinent join to celebrate their freedom and honour the centuries of history that comprise its cultural foundation,” read a statement by Google accompanying the doodle.

    The doodle’s reach is limited to Pakistan.

    The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against a group ‘ Kranti Sena’ in Muzaffarnagar who conducted checks at a market to ensure that no Muslim man applies Mehndi on the hands of Hindu women ahead of Hariyali Teej, an event celebrated during the holy month of Shravana on August 10, reports The Indian Express.

    In a viral video, members of the party are seen asking shopkeepers whether they have arrangements for applying henna. The video then cuts to the Kranti Sena General Secretary Manoj Saini, who says, “We have checked several shops and appealed to the owners to not employ Muslims as they indulge in ‘love jihad’ and trap our women while applying mehndi.”

    After the video went viral, the police filed an FIR against the group. While talking to The Indian Express Aprit Vijayvargia, SP City Muzaffarnagar said, “It was brought to our notice after a video was uploaded on social media. Security has been heavily deployed in public places since there are many festivals. There is no law and order situation.”

    Shopkeepers in the area said that they did not quite understand what the group wanted from them. “How can we not employ people on the basis of religion?” one of them asked.

    According to The Quint, the FIR is against 51 members of the Kranti Sena, 11 named and 40 unnamed.

    Earlier anti-Muslim slogans, calling for murder, were raised in New Delhi at an event organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

  • H&M collaborates with Indian designer Sabyasachi

    H&M has launched its collection in collaboration with Kolkata-based Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee on Thursday.

    Talking to Vouge about his collaboration with H&M, designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee said that there is a wonderful quote by Rumi that sums it up: “What you seek is seeking you.” He received an email from H&M saying they were interested in partnering. “I thought it was too good to be true, and probably spam, but it wasn’t. H&M’s designer tie-ups are what legends are made of.”

    He continued: “This is part of the big fashion dream because it is a validation of your work—it means they believe that my product is desirable enough to translate itself to the mass market. We have created hysteria in Indian couture (we’re the most copied brand here) but that makes us inaccessible, and yes, I do get a lot of requests to do something more affordable. This was the perfect opportunity to do that. Plus, I got to work with denim for the first time, which was exciting.”

    Sabyasachi further said that it took him six months to create the artwork for this collection. 

    This is H&M’s first global Indian designer collaboration. The collection will be available in stores in 18 countries, including India, the US and Britain.

  • Two men arrested for pretending to be women

    Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has detained two men in Lahore — one of them a foreign national — on charges of looting people while posing as women on Facebook, Samaa has reported.

    The Cyber Crime Wing has arrested one foreigner and one local man named Darlington and Asif Ali, respectively.

    FIA Additional Director Shahid Hussain said that during the investigation, the suspects said that they duped people by uploading pictures of beautiful girls. They chatted with different men and then looted them by asking them for dollars.

    As per the FIA, “They force youngsters and women to send them inappropriate pictures and then blackmail them.”

    Earlier, FIA booked model Ifrah Khan on charges of blackmailing a businessman and demanding extortion of millions from him.

    As per reports, the 20-year-old Kork Akbar was getting married to his fiancee last month when Kork’s girlfriend showed up at the wedding.

    Kork Akbar’s fiancee allowed Akbar to marry his girlfriend after which the boy married both at the same time.

    The couple told that Akbars’s girlfriend got the news of his marriage from social media.

  • Russia’s Sputnik V shot around 83% effective against Delta variant

    Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine against Covid-19 is around 83 per cent effective against the Delta variant of the virus, lower than previously thought, Reuters quoted Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko as saying.

    Russian authorities blamed the rise in coronavirus cases in June and July on the more contagious Delta variant and the population’s unwillingness to get vaccinated despite vaccination jabs being extensively available.

    The vaccine’s developers in June claimed that Sputnik V was around 90 per cent effective against the Delta variant.

    “The latest results show that effectiveness is around 83 per cent,” the TASS news agency cited Murashko as saying.

    Alexander Ginsburg, director of the Gamaleya Institute which developed the vaccine, said on Wednesday in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper that Sputnik V was safe and effective against all strains of the coronavirus.

    Russia, which has a population of around 144 million, has approved four locally produced vaccines. Around 6.5 million infections have been reported in the country since the start of the pandemic.

  • Man arrested for beating a dog to death

    A suspect has been booked by Baghdadi police for allegedly beating a stray dog to death with stones and sticks, Samaa has reported. The case has been registered under Sections 34 and 429 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

    As per details, the incident took place on August 10 at 6pm at Madina Masjid Road in Lyari, Karachi.

    The locals of the area said that that the dog attacked a two-year-old Bilal, adding that they contacted welfare organisations many times but they did not get any response.

    A video went viral on social media yesterday, in which, a man can be seen beating a tied up dog with a stick in front of a mob. However, the details of the incident were unclear.

  • Newborn baby’s body goes missing from grave

    The body of a newborn baby buried in a graveyard in Burewala disappeared from the grave, Geo News reported.

    Police said that the footprints of a man and a woman could be seen near the grave. All the evidence has been collected, which will help in the investigation to reach the accused.

    An eight-day-old baby boy named Ashfaq died in a village near Burewala and was buried in the village cemetery.

    According to his parents, when they reached the grave to recite Fateha the next day, the grave was open and the newborn’s body was missing.

    The family protested and demanded immediate recovery of the child’s body.
