Heard that solar eclipse on Sunday is going to end your life? Here’s what will really happen

The annual solar eclipse will be witnessed on Sunday, June 21 when the sun would appear like a circle or ring of light. During a solar eclipse, the Moon comes between the sun and the Earth, blocking its rays. At that moment, the Sun, Moon and Earth are aligned.

This solar eclipse will be an extremely rare one and will create a “ring of fire”. Amid all this, a conspiracy theory is doing rounds on social media that the world is ending on June 21.

But you all might be thinking what would happen and what we should be doing? Certain precautionary measures should be taken to avoid any harmful side effects. The solar eclipse will be witnessed from 09:30 am to 02:00 pm.

Nobody should go out during the eclipse time and must avoid looking at the sun. Anyone viewing the eclipse from the ground is advised to use specialized eclipse viewing glasses to avoid causing serious damage to their eyes. Keep yourself especially the kids indoors.

A WhatsApp video is doing rounds on social media that shows Pediatric ophthalmologist telling about how the eclipse can harm the children’s eyes.

    Whatsapp forwarded video

There are also many myths and superstitions that eclipse could cause facial deformities or birthmarks to their babies. While there is no scientific backing to that, nobody should go out because “Eclipse blindness” is a real thing. It’s never safe for anyone to view the sun with a naked eye because it could permanently damage the retina. There are no proven eclipse-related health concerns for pregnant women or their babies.

Here’s when it will be maximum in your city.

  • Librarian delivers books via drone to kids stuck at home amid COVID-19

Librarian delivers books via drone to kids stuck at home amid COVID-19

Kelly Passek, who works as a librarian at a school in Virginia, America, made sure that kids still have books to keep them engaged during the pandemic.

“As a school librarian, it is extremely important to me to have connections with my students. So that I can make sure that they have got access to the resources that they need and the resources that will allow them to be successful – not just academically, but also in life,” said Passek according to MSN

Due to the remote learning during coronavirus crisis, it became difficult for Passek to be in connection with her students. Then she came up with the idea of a drone to use it for book delivery. She took inspiration from her family as they often use a drone service from Google’s parent company Alphabet, to get essentials delivered to their doorstep.

So, Passek asked for permission from the superintendent, Mark Miear, to deliver books using drone service.

To get a book delivered, students need to request books online which is fulfilled by Passek who then packs the books up in special delivery boxes and delivers them using drone service Wing.

The drone service started last week on a limited trial basis, but now students in Montgomery County can choose from the library’s more than 150,000 books.

Plane makes emergency landing after ‘upset passenger over breakup’ cracks window

A plane made an emergency landing after a drunk woman broke a window during the flight. She was reportedly upset because her boyfriend broke up with her. The incident occurred last month during a domestic Loong Airlines flight in China.

As per reports, 29-year-old Li “lost control of her emotions” on the flight on May 25.

Photos doing rounds on social media show Li crying on her seat and striking the glass window even as squad members and other passengers tried to restrain and calm her. She cracked the first layer of the plane window by hitting it repeatedly.

After the woman broke the window, the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing. The plane was supposed to travel from Xining to the coastal city of Yancheng. However, the pilot was forced to make an emergency stop in Zhengzhou.

Zhengzhou police said that Li’s boyfriend had ended the relationship which resulted in the outburst of emotions. They said that Li had consumed half a liter of the Chinese grain alcohol known as ‘baijiu‘ before boarding the flight. The beverage has an alcohol volume of between 35 to 60 percent.

Luckily, nobody was hurt during the mid-air scare. Crew passengers managed to confine the woman before the plane touched down in Zhengzhou, where she was detained by police.

Her blood alcohol content was measured at 160mg/100ml. Police have not revealed how long the woman was remanded in custody for, or whether she will be fined for damaging the aircraft.

    About Manuscript found in Accra

According to Penguin Random House, “in 1974, an English archaeologist discovered a manuscript in Accra, the present capital of Ghana; carbon dating showed that it had originated in 1307. Written in Arabic, Hebrew, and Latin, the document describes a meeting in the year 1099 between the people of Jerusalem and a sage known as the Copt. It is the year in which the city, where Jews, Christians, and Muslims live together in harmony, is preparing for an attack by the armies of the Crusades.”

It adds: “In this captivating novel, best-selling author Paulo Coelho brings to life the anguish of a city on the brink of annihilation. As the fearful citizens seek advice and reassurance, the Copt speaks of the principles that shape everyday lives and reveals why they will survive the destruction of Jerusalem and endure for generations to come. The novel unfolds as a sequence of parables exploring the meaning and value of love, faith, sex, friendship, beauty, bravery, loyalty, success, and community, and uncovering the sources of human fears and anxieties.”
