    PSL 9: Multan Sultans defeats Lahore Qalandars by 5 wickets

    In the seventh match of HBL Pakistan Super League 9, Multan Sultans defeated Lahore Qalandars by 5 wickets and achieved their third consecutive victory in the event.

    Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi won the toss and decided to bat first.

    Lahore Qalandars scored 166 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, van der Dusen was prominent by scoring 54 runs.

    Apart from this, Fakhar Zaman scored 41 runs, Sikandar Raza scored 23 runs, Jahandad Khan scored 16 runs, while Sahibzada Farhan was out by scoring 2 runs. Abdullah Shafiq scored 6 runs and Braithwaite remained unbeaten by scoring 15 runs.

    For Multan, Muhammad Ali took 2 wickets, Abbas Afridi and Usama Mir took one wicket each.

    Multan Sultans achieved the target of 167 runs against Lahore Qalandars for the loss of 5 wickets in 19 overs.

    Captain Muhammad Rizwan was prominent by scoring 82 runs while Iftikhar Ahmed played an unbeaten innings of 34 runs off 11 balls to bring success to the team.

    It should be noted that Lahore Qalandars lost both their matches so far while Multan Sultans won both their matches.

    Karachi Kings easily achieved Peshawar Zalmi’s target of 155 runs in the 17th over, Kieron Pollard scoring 49 runs and James Vince 38 runs unbeaten. Kieron pollard inning included 4 sixes and 4 fours.

    Peshawar Zalmi has lost their two out of two matches in the ongoing PSL season 9.

    Records keep on tumbling before the former captain of the national team, Babar Azam. The master batsman has claimed the honor of completing 10,000 runs in the lowest innings in Twenty20 cricket. Babar Azam accomplished the feat in the match being played today against Karachi Kings in PSL 9. He has so far scored 10,025 runs at an average of 43.90 in 271 innings of 281 matches in T20 cricket.

    Before the match against Karachi Kings, Babar Azam needed only six runs to achieve the milestone. Babar has played T20 cricket for 19 teams so far in his career. Earlier this record was held by Chris Gayle who accomplished this feat in 285 innings.

    Virat Kohli is third in this list after completing 10,000 runs in 299 innings, David Warner is fourth after completing 10,000 runs in 303 innings, former Australian batsman Aaron Finch is fifth after completing this feat in 327 innings, while England’s Jos Buttler completed 10 runs in 350 innings.

    In the fifth match of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, Multan Sultans defeated Islamabad United by 5 wickets in a thriller.

    Multan Sultans captain Muhammad Rizwan won the toss and decided to field first.

    Islamabad United’s innings

    On behalf of Islamabad United, Agha Salman scored 52 runs and Jordan Cox scored 41 runs. Apart from this, Azam Khan scored 13 runs, Shadab Khan 11, Colin Munro 8, Alex Hales 2, Nasim Shah 2 while Imad Wasim Safar, Faheem Ashraf scored one run each.

    The whole team could score 144 runs in 20 overs.

    For Multan Sultans, Muhammad Ali and Abbas Afridi took 3 wickets each, Usama Mir took 2 wickets and David Wiley dismissed one player.

    From Multan Sultan’s Captain Rizwan scored 43 runs, Reza Handricks scored 58 runs and Iftikhar Ahmed scored 18 runs. Multan acheived the target in 19.5 overs.

    Kohli and Anushka stated “We are extremely happy to announce that on February 15, we have the birth of Vamika’s younger brother and our son. We have named our son ‘Akaay’, we wish you all the best on this happy occasion”.

    Recently, former South African cricketer AB de Villiers claimed that Kohli and Anushka are expecting a second child, but later he denied this news.

    Due to the expected birth of the child, Virat Kohli did not participate in the ongoing Test series against England.

    It should be noted that Virat and Anushka got married in Milan, Italy in December 2017. The couple had a daughter, Wamika, in January 2021.

    The Gladiators defeated the Qalandars by five wickets in the fourth match of PSL 9 yesterday. Lahore Qalandars had given Quetta a target of 188 runs for victory, which Gladiators achieved on the first ball of the 20th over.

    Gladiators’ Khawaja Nafay played an unbeaten knock of 60 runs, his 31-ball innings included 3 sixes and 4 fours.

    After the match, Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi gifted his bat to Khawaja Nafay for his excellent batting.

    In a video message released on social media, Khawaja Nafay said, “Shaheen Afridi gave me the bat in this innings, I hope I will continue to play such innings in the future.”

    PCB removed from inter-provincial coordination ministry

    The caretaker government has made a big decision about the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by removing it from the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) and placed it directly under the Prime Minister.

    According to the notification issued by the Caretaker Government, PCB matters have now been removed from the Inter-Provincial Liaison Ministry and transferred to the Cabinet Division.

    The PCB will now work directly under the Prime Minister’s Office, and will no longer be related to the IPC Ministry. The Secretary of the IPC Ministry is also no longer a member of the PCB Board of Governors.

    In the match played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Qalandar’s captain Shaheen Afridi won the toss and decided to bat first.

    Saud Shakeel scored 40 and Jason Roy scored 24 runs, captain Riley Rossow scored 18, Rutherford scored 14 and Sarfaraz Ahmed scored 11 runs.

    Multan Sultans captain Muhammad Rizwan has become the first wicketkeeper-batsman to complete 2000 runs in the history of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

    Muhammad Rizwan scored only 11 runs in his first match against Karachi Kings in PSL 9 at Multan Stadium yesterday, but during this time he became the first wicketkeeper-batsman to complete 2000 runs in the history of PSL and the fourth overall.

    Mohammad Rizwan has so far scored 2007 runs in 72 matches in PSL at an average of 42.7 and a strike rate of 128.32, including one century and 16 fifties.

    In pursuit of the target of 186 runs, Karachi’s batting could not show any sufficient performance, except the experienced batsman Shoaib Malik, none of the batsmen could play well.

    Karachi Kings team could only score 130 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted overs in pursuit of the target.

    Shoaib Malik scored 53, Shaun Masood scored 30 and Kieron Pollard scored 28 runs. James Vance scored 5 runs, Mohammad Nawaz scored 7 runs.

    On behalf of Multan Sultans, Muhammad Ali dismissed 3 players, David Wali and Abbas Afridi 2.
