    Actor Yasir Hussain is all praise for his wife Iqra Aziz, and we are here for the public display of admiration. Talking on the Ahmad Ali Butt Show, Yasir talked about his fame and his wife’s, both popular actors in Pakistani dramas. Even though they work in the same industry, Yasir said their relationship is easy. He thinks Iqra is the real star, while he sees himself as just an actor.

    “Everywhere we go, like America, Canada, or the Middle East, she has fans there, from all over the world. That’s what being a superstar means – when lots of people around the world know how talented you are.”

    He also talked about a drama they worked on together called Aik Thi Laila. He said, “They wanted to cast both Iqra and me. It was a short project, just six episodes, so I said yes.” The project was special because it brought together their personal and professional lives in a unique way.

    When Yasir was asked about his experience directing his wife, he had only good things to say about her. He praised her for being very professional and relaxed on set. “She’s easy to work with. Unlike other actresses, she doesn’t throw tantrums or spend a lot of time in makeup. She understands directions quickly and follows them well,” he observed. Yasir’s praise showed how talented Iqra is and how much they respect each other in their relationship.

    Young star Hamza Sohail has recently revealed his favorite female actor in Pakistan.

    In a recent interview with ‘Fuschia’, Hamza revealed that Sajal Aly is his favorite female actor, not just in Pakistan but in the whole region.

    “I’m a huge fan of Sajal Aly. I’m not just saying this; I’ve been a fan for a long time. She is one of the finest artists in this entire region,” he said. “When she came on set, I stood up out of respect, but she was so warm and kind.”

    Continuing in the same vein, he stated, “She khows how an artist should be when they become successful. Her behavior on set, her movements, and her work ethic are amazing. I was blown away and thought this is what everyone should aim for,” he added

    On the work front, Hamza Sohail is currently starring in the popular drama series ‘Burns Road Kay Romeo Juliet’ alongside Iqra Aziz.

    Tomato and onion price hikes push weekly inflation up

    In a significant shift, weekly inflation in Pakistan has increased after seven weeks of consecutive declines.

    The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group saw a 0.11 per cent week-on-week rise for the week ending May 30, 2024.

    This comes as a 21.4 per cent year-on-year increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

    The Combined Index stood at 308.52, slightly up from 308.19 the previous week, and significantly higher than the 254.13 recorded a year ago.

    Out of the 51 items monitored, prices for 14 items (27.45 per cent) increased, 14 items (27.45 per cent) decreased, and 23 items (45.10 per cent) remained unchanged.

    Inflation drivers

    Notable price increases during the week were observed in tomatoes (11.25 per cent), onions (3.62 per cent), pulse mash (2.00 per cent), bananas (1.78 per cent), and potatoes (1.23 per cent).

    Conversely, significant price decreases were seen in eggs (6.14 per cent), chili powder (5.73 per cent), LPG (5.40 per cent), garlic (4.02 per cent), and rice IRRI (2.93 per cent).

    The SPI percentage change by income groups revealed increases across all segments, ranging from 0.08 per cent to 0.15 per cent. The lowest income group experienced a 0.09 per cent rise, while the highest income group saw a 0.08 per cent increase.

    On an annual basis, SPI changes showed increases between 14.68 per cent and 24.67 per cent across different income segments, with the lowest income group seeing a 14.68 per cent rise and the highest income group a 19.24 per cent increase.

    The average price of Sona urea was recorded at Rs4,796 per 50 kg bag, reflecting a 0.16 per cent decrease from the previous week but a 55.19 per cent increase from last year.

    Meanwhile, the average price of cement rose to Rs1,237 per 50 kg bag, up 0.30 per cent from the previous week and 9.80 per cent higher than the previous year.

    Actress and model Mamya Shajaffar, also known as Maham Shahid, has disclosed details about her marriage. She was invited as a guest in Fuchsia magazine, hosted by Rabia Mughni. She also revealed the reason she got married at the age of 25.


    “I got married at 25, which I think was the right time. We’d been together for three years already, so it wasn’t a sudden decision. My mom was strict and wanted me home by 10pm, which I didn’t like. So, she suggested I get married, and I agreed! I called Gul, and we got married just 10 days later in a simple ceremony. We had a wonderful reception at Fairy Meadows, but we’re still thinking about having a bigger wedding.”


    She made appearances in ‘College Gat’e and ‘Jhok Sarkar’ as well. Recently Mamya is working ‘Jaan SE Pyara Juni’ drama. Mamya Shajaffar is got married to Farooq Gul, who is a creative director, designer, and photographer.

    Gold price surges by Rs500 per tola amid global market rally

    After experiencing a decline in the previous session, gold prices in Pakistan saw a significant increase on Friday, mirroring the upward trend in international markets.

    The local market price for gold per tola rose by Rs500, settling at Rs241,700, according to the latest figures released by the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).

    The price of 10 grammes of gold also climbed, increasing by Rs429 to reach Rs207,219. This comes after a notable drop on Thursday, when the price per tola had decreased by Rs1,500.

    On the international front, the gold rate saw an upward adjustment. The APGJSA reported that the international gold price was set at $2,342 per ounce, including a $20 premium, following a $7 increase during the day.

    In contrast, silver prices in the local market remained stable, with rates holding steady at Rs2,900 per tola.

    Last month, gold prices in Pakistan reached an all-time high of Rs252,200 per tola, reflecting significant volatility in the market.

    Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) agriculture minister Major (ret) Sajjad Khattak has said that the provincial government has imposed a tax on tobacco used in Naswar, adding that the usage of Naswar is neither a sin nor a reward.

    The provincial agriculture minister told the provincial assembly that Naswar is the drug of the poor and it is not even forbidden in Sharia.

    Opposition members of the KP assembly, including Sobia Shahid and Ahmad Kundi, tabled a bill demanding more tax on Naswar and cigarettes, as they are luxuries, and that the tax on private schools should be abolished.

    Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sobia Shahid said that the tax on tobacco exports should be increased, and that it should be abolished in schools and colleges.

    Uganda cricket team’s journey from slums of Kampala to T20 World Cup

    Several players of the Ugandan cricket team have made a long journey from the dirt roads of Kampala to the T20 World Cup 2024.

    About 60 percent of the population in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, lives in slums. Fast bowler Juma Miyagi is an inspiration to youth living in the tightly packed areas. Because of them, the people here who are very fond of football, now watch cricket with interest and the debut of the Ugandan cricket team in the T20 World Cup is no less than a dream for them.

    Miyagi grew up in the Naguru Jagi shacks on the outskirts of Kampala. After playing for Uganda’s under-19 team for two years, he will now take charge of the senior team’s bowling in the T20 World Cup in West Indies and America from June 1. Uganda qualified for the Cricket World Cup for the first time in November last year.

    Miyagi has taken 34 wickets in 21 T20 matches so far. He grew up in slums and still lives there with his family. T20 World Cup participant Simon Ssesazi also hail from slums that do not have clean drinking water, sewage system and health facilities.

    The story of thier struggles has also impressed Uganda’s Indian coach Abhay Sharma. It’s not that Sharma has never seen a slum, but Kampala’s slums are different from Mumbai’s Dharavi. After spending time with the players, Sharma’s respect for them increased manifold.

    A fire has once again broken out in the Margalla Hills of Islamabad as temperatures in the capital city rise.

    Pakistan Navy’s rescue services are working on extinguishing the fire in Margalla hills.

    Pakistan Navy firefighters, four fire tenders and two water bowsers are engaged in putting out the fire.

    Yesterday, 15 spots on the Hills caught fire close to E-11.

    Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi took notice of the fire.

    Later, Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Mohammad Ali Randhawa directed an audit of the forest fire on Margalla Hills.

    CDA had directed Director General (DG) Capital Emergency Services Dr. Abdul Rehman to identify the loopholes in forest fire prevention and control.

    Pakistani film ‘Nayab’ has won the ‘Best Foreign Film’ award at World Film Festival in Cannes. The film, directed by Umair Nasir Ali, also won the Best First Time Film Maker award in the feature film category. The film is written by Basit Naqvi, Ali Abbas Naqvi


    The story of the film is centered around a young woman determined to break stereotypes by playing cricket for Pakistan’s national team. Her brother, who was once a rising star himself, struggles with his past.

    The director posted a picture on Instagram with the caption, “Happy to share our film “Nayab” won Best Foreign Film and Best First Time Filmmaker (Feature) at the World Film Festival in Cannes – Remember the Future! April 2024 -Despite limited festival opportunities after commercial theatrical release locally and globally, these awards bring us great joy.
