Tamannaah Bhatia shuts down marriage rumours with Abdul Razzaq

Bollywood actress Tamannaah Bhatia has addressed long-running rumours that she secretly tied the knot with former Pakistani cricketer Abdul Razzaq, and she’s laughing them off.

During a recent appearance on an Indian TV show, Bhatia called the viral speculation “embarrassing” and said there’s absolutely no truth to it.

“Mazaak mazaak mein Abdul Razzaq,” she joked. “The internet is a fun place. According to the internet, I was briefly married to Abdul Razzaq.”

The rumours began in 2020 after a photo of Bhatia and Razzaq attending a jewellery store event resurfaced online. The image sparked a wave of speculation that the two had secretly gotten married.

“I’m sorry, sir, aapke do-teen bachhe hain (You have 2-3 children)… I don’t know what your life is,” she added with folded hands, offering an apology to Razzaq for the unwanted attention.

Bhatia also expressed how bizarre it feels to be dragged into false narratives with people she barely knows.

“It is very strange when you have no relationship with someone and people make up stories,” she said. “But in such a situation, we cannot do anything. People just think whatever they want.”

The actress was previously in a relationship with Darlings star Vijay Varma since 2022, and has reportedly ended the romance. The two are now said to be on friendly terms.

Despite the internet frenzy, Bhatia is keeping her sense of humour, and making it clear: she’s never been married to Abdul Razzaq.

  • PCB bans Pakistani players from future WCL tournaments

PCB bans Pakistani players from future WCL tournaments

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a complete ban on Pakistani player’ participation in any future editions of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), citing what it called was the “hypocrisy, bias, and political interference” in the tournament’s handling of matches involving Pakistan.

The decision was made during the 79th Board of Governors (BoG) meeting held virtually under the chairmanship of Mohsin Naqvi.

In an official statement, the PCB strongly condemned WCL’s “appalling conduct” in awarding points to a team that “willfully forfeited” a match and criticised the “hypocritical and biased” language used in press releases regarding the cancellation of Pakistan versus India fixtures.

“The contents of the said press release highlight a duality where the narrative of ‘peace through sport’ is selectively applied, and sporting events are held hostage to political expediency and narrow commercial interests,” the PCB said.

Reaffirming its longstanding position, the board stated, “The PCB has always advocated for the separation of sports and politics. Cricket should serve as a platform for goodwill, healthy competition and mutual respect.”

The statement also described WCL’s apology for “hurting sentiments” as “farcical” and an indirect admission that the match cancellations were driven by nationalist narratives rather than sporting merit.

“This bias masquerading as sensitivity sends an unacceptable message to the international sporting community,” the board added.

Citing external pressure and violations of neutrality and fair play, the PCB concluded that it could no longer allow its players to participate in events where such fundamental principles were compromised.

“We cannot allow our players to be part of events where the spirit of the game is overshadowed by skewed politics that undermines the very essence of sportsmanship and the gentleman’s game,” the board stated.

  • Iranian president lands in Pakistan, looks to boost bilateral trade volume to $10 billion

Iranian president lands in Pakistan, looks to boost bilateral trade volume to $10 billion

In an effort to reiterate his commitment to enhance bilateral trade with Pakistan, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian landed in Pakistan on Saturday.

According to reports, his delegation consists of key ministers and senior officials such as Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, all of whom are in the country to execute outlined plans of raising the bilateral volume of trade between the two neighbours up to a staggering $10 billion.

For reference, the official volume of trade between both countries sat at just $2.8 billion in fiscal year (FY) 2024-25 Earlier this year, Pakistan and Iran reportedly agreed to boost bilateral volume of trade over a period of five years.

The Iranian president’s intent to boost the volume of trade between both countries comes amid reports suggesting that Iran aims to improve its access to East Asian economies such as China, via Pakistan.

This claim holds merit as Iran’s president suggested that Iran could connect itself “to the Silk Road linking Pakistan and China, and the route can then extend through Iran to Europe”. If Tehran remains successful in this initiative, it would prove to be greatly beneficial for Iran as it would become the centre of trade between Europe and China.

A “Silk Road” passing through Iran would also give the country significant strategic leverage over major global economies. By becoming a vital trade corridor between Europe and China, Iran could increase the cost of sanctions imposed against it, as these economies would find themselves more economically intertwined with Tehran.

Reports indicate that the Iranian president has also outlined the great economic relations both countries have maintained with each other as both “countries cooperate in economic, scientific, cultural and border areas”. Pakistan and Iran have been improving economic relations considerably after tensions between both sides peaked in January 2024, when both countries exchanged airstrikes.

In February 2025, Iran revealed that it would take initiatives to boost economic cooperation, such as reducing the costs associated with business visas for Pakistani individuals looking to invest into Iran.

  • Karachi doctor donates kidneys of only son after fatal crash, saves two lives

Karachi doctor donates kidneys of only son after fatal crash, saves two lives

A female nephrologist from Karachi made an extraordinary decision in the midst of unimaginable grief, donating both kidneys of her only son, who had been declared brain dead after a severe road accident.

The donation gave a second chance at life to two patients in need of transplants.

Syed Sultan Zafar, 23, a dental student at Ziauddin Medical and Dental College, was the only son of Dr Mahar Afroze, a consultant Nephrologist and Associate Professor at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT).

He was also the grandson of two prominent figures in Pakistan’s medical community: Prof Tipu Sultan and Prof Dr Shershah Syed.

Sultan’s father, Syed Furqan Zafar, passed away due to liver cancer a few years ago, Prof. Tipu Sultan has said.

He is buried at Kohi Goth, where the family operates a charity hospital. Sultan Zafar will be buried alongside his father.

Prof. Tipu described the tragic events, saying Sultan was driving with friends in DHA Phase 8 on Wednesday morning when he met a road accident.

He was brought unconscious to a hospital after suffering severe head injuries. Before being sent to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), he had a surgery to remove blood clots from his brain and was intubated.

“At 1am on Saturday, he had to undergo another craniotomy,” Prof Tipu recalled. “We spent those days in constant fear, unable to think about anything else.”

Sultan was shifted to a general ward after showing brief signs of recovery. However, by Tuesday morning, his condition worsened.

Prof. Tipu stated, “He experienced breathing difficulties, was moved back to the intensive care unit, and had to be re-intubated.” “By 4pm, his pupils were fixed and dilated, and he had lost all reflexes. The family was devastated.”.

“After over five hours of discussions outside the ICU, Mahar Afroze made the bravest and most selfless decision of her life to donate her son’s organs.”

That same night, Dr Afroze personally arranged for her son’s body to be taken to SIUT, recognizing the urgent need for cadaver organ donation.

“She is a nephrologist who witnesses patients dying every day due to the lack of organ donors. She wanted Zafar’s death to mean something,” said Prof Tipu.

Two dialysis patients at SIUT had their kidneys successfully transplanted after years of dialysis. Unfortunately, because there were no suitable recipients, no more organs could be donated.

Prof. Dr. Shershah Syed, Sultan’s grandfather, praised Dr. Afroze, saying, “She is not only a great doctor but also a courageous mother and a remarkable human being.  She has served as a strong role model for Pakistani families and physicians. We are incredibly proud of her.”

In a statement issued on Wednesday, SIUT confirmed the successful transplants. “The surgeries were performed in the early hours of the morning by a dedicated team of urologists and anesthetists,” the statement noted.

The institute also commended the family’s decision. “Dr Afroze’s donation, made in the midst of overwhelming grief, is being widely applauded by the medical community and the public,” the statement added.

SIUT Director Prof Adib Rizvi praised the move, saying, “The family gave the gift of life to two patients who had no living donors and had been on dialysis for years. We urge society to follow their example.”

“This act should serve as inspiration,” said Prof Tipu. “Mahar Afroze has lost her only son and is left with two daughters, yet she chose to give hope to others. That is the essence of humanity.”

  • My sons won’t participate in politics, protests: Imran Khan

My sons won’t participate in politics, protests: Imran Khan

Incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has stated that his sons, Sulaiman Khan and Kasim Khan, will not participate in protests or politics.

According to reports, Khan spoke with his sons on a phone call that lasted at least 90 minutes and confirmed that they would visit Pakistan to meet him.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Khan also said that his access to newspapers has been restored.

Meanwhile, speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Khan’s sister Aleema Khan dismissed speculation that he had stopped his sons from visiting Pakistan.

She claimed that both have lost their National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP), which has led to the delay in their visit to Pakistan.

“They have applied for NICOP reissuance and visas. Surprisingly, the embassy claims no such applications have been received. I have the tracking numbers of their applications,” she said.

  • Pakistan’s ‘bipolomacy’ yields agreement with Kyrgyzstan to boost cooperation in crypto

Pakistan’s ‘bipolomacy’ yields agreement with Kyrgyzstan to boost cooperation in crypto

Do you have any idea as to what is happening in the world of ‘biplomacy’? You know, the kind of diplomacy that’s used to advance crypto goals. Well, Pakistan is leading the charge and in its latest efforts to establish itself as the crypto capital of the world, Pakistan has joined hands with Kyrgyzstan to promote bilateral cooperation along the lines of digital finance, blockchain technology and cryptocurrency.

The federal government has been looking to accelerate the adoption and integration of cryptocurrencies into the national economy. Reports have revealed that stakeholders present at a high-profile meeting in Islamabad earlier this week were briefed about Virtual Assets Act,2025. The meeting was attended by representatives from exchange companies, banks, and the jewellery sector.

As per reports, Minister of State and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC) Bilal bin Saqib held an online video conference with Director of the National Investment Agency of Kyrgyzstan Farukht Aminov. During the meeting, both sides discussed matters pertaining to technology exchange, development of virtual assets and also went over collaboration in regulatory frameworks.

According to reports, Kyrgyzstan’s Director of the National Investment Agency outlined the importance of knowledge and experience sharing. The PCC’s CEO indicated that Kyrgyzstan could become an important partner for Pakistan with respect to the development and regulation of digital assets.

Moreover, reports reveal that the PCC’s CEO also shared his views regarding relations between the two countries, suggesting that relations between the two would be a strong  foundation in the digital economy of the future.

The online conference regarding virtual asset cooperation between the two countries pointed towards physical, tangible results in the coming periods. This is because both sides discussed the signing of  a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost cooperation in the cryptocurrency space.

Reports reveal that both the PCC’s CEO and his Kyrgyzstani counterpart voiced their commitment to cooperating with the other to establish a modern, secure, and transparent digital economy. Moreover, both sides reportedly outlined the need for additional partnerships in Central and South Asia to promote blockchain and digital finance.

This is not Pakistan’s first attempt to secure partnerships in the digital asset space as in June, the PCC’s CEO met with El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, and discussed forming a partnership to exchange knowledge on digital assets.

Aside from collaborating with Kyrgyzstan, entering into knowledge sharing agreements with El Salvador could yield positive results for Pakistan, as the South American country adopted Bitcoin as legal tender in September 2021. While it rolled back Bitcoin’s status as legal tender in January 2025, Pakistan could benefit from the knowledge El Salvador gained during its three-year “experiment”, regarding the integration of digital assets into the national economy.
