Daska siblings murdered to cover up mother’s extramarital affair: Police

Police in Daska on Tuesday claimed that they have solved the case of the brutal murder of two young siblings whose bodies were found in a graveyard earlier this week, revealing that the children were killed after one of them witnessed their mother in a compromising situation.

Six-year-old Umm-e-Kalsoom and three-year-old Waris, residents of Bheko Chhor in the Saddar police station jurisdiction, were reported missing on Sunday. Their father, Kashif, worked at the dera of local landlord Numbardar Yaqoob.

The children’s bodies, which showed evidence of blunt-force trauma, were found in a nearby graveyard a day later. The shocking discovery sparked outrage and grief in the local community.

A special investigation team led by SP Investigation Usman Munir Saifi was formed by District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Shahzad to look into the incident.

The main suspect, Malik Farooq, son of Numbardar Yaqoob, was taken into custody by police following a thorough investigation. Initial investigations suggest that  Farooq was having an affair with the children’s mother.

The older child allegedly witnessed them together in an inappropriate situation on the day of the incident. In order to hide the alleged extramarital affair with the children’s mother, authorities claim that Farooq and the woman collaborated to kill both children out of fear of being exposed.

Both siblings were killed by repeated blows to the head with bricks.

DPO Faisal Shahzad called the incident a “shocking and barbaric act,” promising that strict action would be taken to bring the killers to justice.

  • Why Buying Crypto Is Smart for Businesses in 2025

Why Buying Crypto Is Smart for Businesses in 2025

In the summer of 2025, many businesses are reevaluating their approach to finances. Instead of investing solely in equipment, staff, or marketing, an increasing number of companies are using their funds to purchase cryptocurrency. This trend is not limited to tech giants. Small businesses and companies from different industries are joining in. But why is this happening? Why is crypto being seen as a smart move for businesses this summer? Let’s explore.

Crypto is short for cryptocurrency. It is a kind of digital money. Unlike regular money issued by banks, crypto is not controlled by any government. It works on a system called blockchain. This system is secure and open to everyone.

The most famous type of crypto is Bitcoin. Others include Ethereum, Solana, and many more. Crypto can be used to store value, make payments, or trade like stocks.

Companies Are Buying Crypto in Large Numbers

Since June 1, 2025, nearly 100 companies have announced plans to raise money to buy cryptocurrency. In just a few months, over $ 43 billion has been collected for this purpose. In total, businesses have raised more than 86 billion dollars this year to buy crypto assets. This is more than twice the amount raised by companies going public in the U.S. during the same time.

This shows a considerable change. Companies are no longer just investing in machines or services. They are now using some of their money to buy digital currencies.

    Real-World Companies Leading the Trend

Many well-known companies are already holding large amounts of crypto. For example, some tech companies have bought thousands of bitcoins. One U.S. company has added over 500,000 bitcoins to its balance sheet.

However, this trend is not exclusive to the United States. In Japan, a hotel company has begun purchasing cryptocurrency. In France, a semiconductor manufacturer has taken a similar approach. A toy maker in Florida, a chain of beauty salons, and even electric-bike companies have all joined in.

These businesses come from different fields. What they have in common is that they all see crypto as a wise investment.

    Why Are Businesses Buying Crypto?

    Crypto Can Grow in Value

One of the primary reasons companies invest in cryptocurrency is that it has the potential to appreciate in value. In recent years, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have experienced significant growth. Some believe crypto is like gold—something you hold to protect your money from losing value.

    Crypto Brings Public Attention

When a company announces that it is buying crypto, people take notice. News spreads fast. Investors often get excited. Sometimes, the company’s stock price increases simply because of the announcement. This type of attention helps companies stand out in a crowded market.

Crypto Is Easy to Buy Now

In the past, buying crypto was hard. It needed technical knowledge. Now, many platforms make it easy. Companies can open accounts, purchase coins, and store them securely with the help of trusted services. This ease of access has made crypto more attractive to businesses.

    The Role of Big Investors

Large financial groups are also contributing to this trend’s growth. Some mutual funds and hedge funds are investing in companies that plan to buy cryptocurrency. Their support makes it easier for smaller businesses to follow the same path.

When trusted investors invest in crypto projects, others gain confidence. This is helping make crypto more mainstream in business circles.

Crypto Is More Than Just Bitcoin

While Bitcoin is still the most well-known, companies are also buying other cryptocurrencies. Some are investing in Ethereum. Others are exploring newer digital coins.

Some companies are not just holding crypto. They are also using it to earn more value. They lend it out or take part in systems that pay interest on crypto holdings. This makes crypto more than just a store of value. It becomes a way to earn income.

    Risks That Businesses Should Know

    Price Can Change Quickly

Crypto is known for being volatile. That means its price can change fast. One day the value goes up. The next day, it might fall. This risk is real and should be understood.

    Not All Coins Are Equal

Some digital coins are well-known and have a strong following. Others are small, new, and risky. Businesses must do their homework before making a purchase. It’s safer to start with coins that are already trusted by the market.

    Regulations Are Still Developing

Cryptocurrency regulations are still being developed in many countries. This means things can change. Governments may add new taxes or reporting rules. Companies must stay informed to follow the law.

Should Small Businesses Consider Buying Crypto?

Even small companies can join the crypto trend. They don’t need to buy millions of dollars’ worth of coins. A small, well-planned investment can still make a difference.

    Crypto can be used to:

    • Store value

    • Earn returns

    • Attract tech-savvy customers

Some small businesses also accept crypto as payment. This opens the door to a global market and gives the company a modern image.

    What’s Happening This Summer?

This summer, the business world is seeing a significant shift. Traditional investments are no longer the only option. Cryptocurrency is rising rapidly as a new way for companies to increase their value.

Rising inflation and lower interest rates have made crypto more attractive. As the economy changes, businesses are seeking innovative solutions to meet their needs. For many, crypto is that idea.

They see it as a modern, fast, and powerful tool. It can help protect their money and offer long-term gains.

    Final Thoughts

This summer, crypto has become a big part of business strategy. From large firms to small startups, companies are turning to digital assets. They believe it’s the future of finance.

Buying crypto is not just a trend. It’s a smart move for businesses that want to stay ahead of the competition. However, every company must conduct its research, manage risk, and begin with a clear plan. For ready businesses, buying crypto could be the most brilliant move they make this summer.

Pak, India set to face off in WCL 2025 semifinal, will they show up this time?

The Indian Legends team, which refused to play against Pakistan in the group stage of the World Championship of Legends 2025, is now set to face the Green Shirts in the tournament’s semifinal.

On Tuesday, India qualified for the semifinal after defeating West Indies Champions in a crucial encounter. Batting first, the West Indies side set a target of 145 runs in the allotted 20 overs. However, India managed to chase the total in less than 14 overs, which was needed for them to achieve the required net run rate for qualification.

Owing to a brilliant half-century by Stuart Binny, India achieved the target in only 13.2 overs, losing five wickets in the process. With this result, India became the fourth and final team to reach the semifinals.

Earlier on the same day, Pakistan Champions crushed Australia Champions by 10 wickets, securing the top position on the points table.

Following India’s win, the semifinal lineup is now complete. Table-toppers Pakistan will now take on fourth-placed India in the first semifinal on July 31. The second semifinal, also scheduled for the same day, will be played between South Africa and Australia.

It merits mention that the much-anticipated group stage clash between Pakistan and India was cancelled earlier in the tournament after Indian players refused to play against the Pakistani side.

According to reports, Indian team demanded that Shahid Afridi not be included in the playing XI as cricketers, including Shikhar Dhawan, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, and Harbhajan Singh, reportedly opposed playing the match over the Pakistani star’s political views and strong opposition of Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir.

Following this, tournament organisers had issued a statement expressing regret over the cancellation of the match between the two arch-rivals. In a recent media interaction, Dhawan said that if they did not play against Pakistan in the group stage, they will not play in the semifinal or final either.

Now all eyes are on whether the Indian team will follow through on its earlier stance or show up for the high-voltage semifinal clash.

  • Huge quake off Russia sparks Pacific tsunami warnings

Huge quake off Russia sparks Pacific tsunami warnings

One of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded struck Russia’s sparsely populated Far East early Wednesday, causing tsunamis of up to four metres (12 feet) across the Pacific and sparking evacuations from Hawaii to Japan.

The magnitude 8.8 quake struck at 8:24 am (2304 GMT Tuesday) off Petropavlovsk on Russia’s remote Kamchatka peninsula and was one of the 10 biggest recorded, according to the USGS.

Russian authorities said a tsunami hit and flooded the port town of Severo-Kurilsk, while local media said one of between three and four metres high was recorded in the Elizovsky district of Kamchatka.

A video posted on Russian social media appeared to show buildings in the town submerged in seawater. Authorities said the population of around 2,000 people was evacuated.

Several people were injured in Russia by the quake, state media reported, but none of them seriously.

“The walls were shaking,” an Elizovsky resident told state media Zvezda.

“It’s good that we packed a suitcase, there was one with water and clothes near the door. We quickly grabbed it and ran out… It was very scary,” she said.

Officials from countries with a Pacific coastline in North and South America — including the United States, Mexico and Ecuador — issued warnings to avoid affected beaches.

In Japan, people evacuated by car or on foot to higher ground — including in Hokkaido, where a first wave measuring 30 centimetres was observed.

There were no injuries or damage reported in Japan as of midday (0300 GMT).

In Hawaii, Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi said residents and the thousands of visitors should get to safety on upper floors of buildings or on higher ground.

“People should not, and I will say it one more time, should not, as we have seen in the past, stay around the shoreline or risk their lives just to see what a tsunami looks like,” governor Josh Green said.

“It is not a regular wave. It will actually kill you if you get hit by a tsunami,” Green said.

    – Pacific warnings –

Wednesday’s quake was the strongest since 1952 in the Kamchatka region, the regional seismic monitoring service said, warnings of aftershocks of up to 7.5 magnitude.

The epicenter of the earthquake is roughly the same as the massive 9.0 temblor that year which resulted in a destructive, Pacific-wide tsunami, according to the USGS.

At least six aftershocks have further rattled the region, including one of 6.9 magnitude and another listed at 6.3.

The US Tsunami Warning Centers said waves exceeding three metres above the tide level were possible along some coasts of Ecuador, northwestern Hawaiian islands and Russia.

Between one- and three-metre waves were possible along some coasts of Chile, Costa Rica, French Polynesia, Guam, Hawaii, Japan and other islands and island groups in the Pacific, it said.

Waves of up to one metre were possible elsewhere, including Australia, Colombia, Mexico, New Zealand, Tonga and Taiwan.

It described the potential conditions as “hazardous.”

At Inage Beach in Chiba prefecture in Japan, a security perimeter was set up, and a rescue worker told AFP that the seaside area was off limits until further notice.

“I didn’t expect there to be a tsunami; I actually made a joke about it when we heard (the alert),” Canadian tourist Leana Lussier, 17, told AFP.

“We came here hoping to swim, but once we heard a tsunami warning had been issued, we didn’t go in at all, not even close to the water,” local Tomoyo Fujita, 35, told AFP as she left the area with her young daughter.

Television footage showed several whales washed up on a beach.

Workers at the stricken Fukushima nuclear plant in northeast Japan — destroyed by a huge quake and tsunami in 2011 — were evacuated, its operator said.

    – Aftershocks –

Tsunami alerts were pushed to mobile phones in California, according to local AFP reporters.

“STAY STRONG AND STAY SAFE!” US President Donald Trump said on social media.

Tsunami sirens blared near Hawaii’s popular Waikiki surf beach where an AFP photographer observed gridlocked traffic as Hawaiians escaped to higher ground.

The US Tsunami Warning Centers issued a Tsunami Warning — its highest level alert — for the entire US state of Hawaii, with the first waves expected at 7:17 pm local time (0517 GMT).

“People are also advised to stay away from the beach and not to go to the coast,” the seismology centre said in a warning.

Vessels were ordered to head to open water ahead of the expected arrival of waves up to 2 metres, while government employees in Honolulu were sent home early.

  • Imran Khan advises his sons against visiting Pakistan

Imran Khan advises his sons against visiting Pakistan

Amid claims that Sulaiman Khan and Kasim Khan, sons of the incarcerated founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan, will join the party’s upcoming August 5 protest movement in Pakistan, Imran Khan has instructed them against visiting the country.

Speaking to journalists at Adiala Jail Rawalpindi, the former premier said that Sulaiman Khan and Kasim Khan, “will not be coming to Pakistan”, adding his sons will neither participate in any protest movement, nor lead any protest.

His sister Aleema Khanum had earlier claimed that Sulaiman Khan and Kasim Khan would take part in the protests.

Imran Khan reportedly said: “I am telling you, they aren’t coming to Pakistan and they will not take part in any protest.”

Earlier in July, speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail Rawalpindi, Aleema Khanum stated that her brother intends to lead a protest movement from jail against the 26th Constitutional Amendment, while his sons will join the campaign after returning from the United States (US).

“Imran Khan’s sons will first go to the United States to raise awareness about the injustices faced by their father, and then they will take part in the movement being launched in Pakistan. Imran Khan has been informed of this,” she added.

On July 8, appearing on a private media outlet, Advisor to Prime Minister (PM) on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah cautioned that if Suleman Khan and Qasim Khan come to Pakistan to lead the PTI’s protest, they could be arrested.

Sanaullah sternly asked why Imran Khan’s sons would not be arrested if they came to join the “violent protest”, warning that they would be in trouble.

  • Rida Bilal distances herself from ‘Behroopia’

Rida Bilal distances herself from ‘Behroopia’

Renowned playwright Rida Bilal has publicly distanced herself from the drama serial Behroopia, saying that the final version shown on TV is completely different from what she originally wrote.

According to a media report, Rida raised serious concerns about how her script was changed without her approval.

“Nothing in the drama Behroopia is portrayed how I wrote it, from the characters to their tones and dressing,” the report quoted her as saying.

Rida explained that the changes were so major that the drama no longer feels like her work. “There is an entire sequence in the drama which replicates the Noor Mukaddam incident, which was not written by me,” she added.

“They’ve even removed my name from the project’s credits, which I’m relieved about,” she said.

This scene reminded viewers of a real-life tragedy that shocked Pakistan in 2021.

Noor Mukaddam, a 27-year-old daughter of a former Pakistani diplomat, was brutally murdered in a mansion located in Islamabad’s upscale Sector F-7/4 on July 20, 2021.

According to police investigations, Noor was held hostage for two days, tortured with a knuckleduster, raped, and then beheaded with a knife. The accused, Zahir Jaffer, 27, was arrested from the crime scene and later confessed that he had planned to kill Noor if she rejected his marriage proposal.

The case became more disturbing as investigations revealed that Zahir’s household staff and parents were complicit. Noor had reportedly tried to escape multiple times, but the staff did not let her leave. Jaffer’s parents and employees were arrested for attempting to hide evidence and prevent her escape.

In February 2022, an Islamabad court sentenced Zahir Jaffer to death for Noor’s murder, along with 25 years in prison for kidnapping and other charges. His appeals were rejected by the Islamabad High Court in 2024, and till now his death sentence stands upheld by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, pending final execution. The case has since become a symbol of the fight for justice for women in Pakistan.

Her statement has gone viral on social media, and many people have expressed support for her.

One user commented, “The topic was great, but dragging tarnished the plot.”

A viewer remarked, “How difficult must it be for her to watch her creation altered beyond recognition to a level that she had to come out and say that she doesn’t want any recognition for it… didn’t expect this from a Green project.”

Others blamed production houses and TV channels for not respecting writers. “So that’s why PTV scripts are so bad these days. The production houses and directors have taken over and changed everything to fit their own style.”

Another viewer said they had already stopped watching the drama. “It didn’t make sense and felt like a total khichri of random events.”

Fans of Rida Bilal praised her past work and demanded more respect for writers. “She deserves to work with better directors and producers next time. The industry needs to stop treating writers like disposable tools.”

Rida Bilal is known for popular dramas like Khudgarz and Aik Jhooti Love Story, with a reputation for strong female characters and meaningful stories.

  • Saudi Arabia-based Pakistani tourist’s two-decade work acknowledged globally

Saudi Arabia-based Pakistani tourist’s two-decade work acknowledged globally

The Saudi Tourism Authority has praised Saudi-based Pakistani tourist Kashan Syed for discovering remote, lesser-known natural sites in the country’s farthest reaches.

Syed, founder of the Saudi Tourism Group, has been exploring the country for the last twenty years. His work has now been acknowledged globally, as the authority has given coverage to his efforts on geography and history channels, WeNews reported on Tuesday.

Recently, he visited the Jazala area of Jo-Ghawiyah city along with his team of 20 vehicles. The area, located nearly 190 kilometres from Riyadh, offers breathtaking views ranging from natural rock formations and mountain ranges to shapes resembling humans and animals, carved over time by weather effects.

These rock formations, naturally shaped over thousands of years through rain, sun, and wind, have created mesmerising and mysterious views that leave people in awe.

Syed told WeNews that he has been exploring such hidden places, often missing from tourist maps, for the last two decades. His team promotes tourism by using modern techniques such as Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation, documentation, photography, videos, and location surveys.

His mission is to showcase Saudi Arabia’s natural beauty, geographical diversity, and historical heritage to the world, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to develop tourism as one of the major industries.

This unique initiative by the Saudi Tourism Group is not only contributing to the growth of tourism in Saudi Arabia but also positively representing the Pakistani community.

  • Petrol prices projected to drop by Rs6.82 per liter

Petrol prices projected to drop by Rs6.82 per liter

Prices of petroleum products are expected to be cut by up to Rs6.82 per litre in the next fuel price revision. According to Arif Habib Limited (AHL), persistent increases in fuel prices have created room for the government to reduce the prices of both high-speed diesel and petrol.

Currently, the price of petrol stands at a staggering Rs272.15 per litre. Similarly, HSD prices have surged to a whopping Rs284.35 per litre.

Previous price revisions resulted in an increase of Rs11.37 per litre of HSD. Moreover, earlier this month, petrol prices reportedly surged by Rs5.36 per litre, causing strain on consumers.

This marked the second consecutive increase in fuel prices in one month. However, AHL has suggested that the federal government can now reduce petrol prices by Rs6.82 per litre for the next fortnight.

HSD prices could also drop by Rs1.68 per litre, with the new petrol price estimated at Rs265.33 per litre, while HSD is expected to fall to Rs282.67 per litre.

The drop in HSD prices could provide cost savings for the transport and agriculture sectors. Lower HSD prices have positive effects on the economy as they directly decrease the prices of food. This is because it is widely used in the agricultural sector to power tractors and other mechanised farming equipment.

A fall in HSD rates could also benefit the transport sector, given its reliance on fuel. For instance, the transportation sector has diesel as a primary input and thus requires vast quantities of the commodity. Lower HSD prices imply lower operational costs for businesses in the transportation sector.

Moreover, the projected drop in fuel prices is likely to boost economic activity for businesses that transport goods from factories to stores, as transportation costs will decrease, resulting in a rise in profit margins.

However, the benefit of lower fuel prices is not likely to extend completely to individuals who rely on private buses and wagons to commute. This is because analysts have suggested that fares tend to be sticky when rates drop after an increase. As such, the expected drop in the price of fuel might not result in a proportional decrease in fares.

  • Pakistan to oppose ICC proposed two-tier Test system

Pakistan to oppose ICC proposed two-tier Test system

Pakistan has decided to oppose the proposed two-division structure for Test cricket, rejecting what it sees as a move to strengthen the dominance of a few top-tier nations in the traditional format of the game, according to media reports.

Media reports say that early discussions among top PCB officials emphasized that cricket is a global sport and all nations deserve equal opportunity. “If smaller teams don’t play against stronger sides, how will their performance improve,” one official said, as per a source, adding that Pakistan hopes other nations will support its stance when the matter goes to vote.

The move comes in response to a proposal currently being considered by the International Cricket Council (ICC), which has formed an eight-member working group led by Sanjog Gupta to explore the introduction of a two-division Test structure. The group includes figures like England’s Richard Gould and Cricket Australia’s Todd Greenberg, and is expected to submit recommendations to the ICC Board by the end of the year.

The proposed system, if approved, could be implemented during the 2027 to 2029 World Test Championship cycle. It would replace the current nine-team format with two divisions of six teams each, requiring a two-thirds majority from ICC’s 12 Full Members for approval. The concern is that promotion and relegation could leave lower-ranked nations with limited opportunities to face stronger opposition.

Under current rankings, Australia, South Africa, England, India, New Zealand and Sri Lanka occupy the top six spots and could be placed in Division One. Meanwhile, teams like Pakistan (ranked 7th), West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe risk being relegated to Division Two.

Reports added that PCB stressed their opposition is not based on self-interest. “We’re thinking beyond ourselves,” said one official. “Even if Pakistan moves up in rankings and secures a spot in Division One, what about West Indies or Bangladesh? How will they improve if they are left to play only among themselves?”

The PCB also addressed criticism that it has not given importance to Test cricket. The board clarified that the national team will play nine Test matches in 2026, offering a chance to improve its rankings and compete with higher-ranked teams.

While only five Tests are scheduled for Pakistan this year, including a recent loss in Cape Town to South Africa and a 1-1 home series draw against West Indies, the upcoming calendar promises more. Two home Tests against South Africa are scheduled for October and November.

In 2026, Pakistan is set to tour Bangladesh in March and April, West Indies in July and August, play a three-match series in England in August and September, and host Sri Lanka for two Tests in November.

“Claiming we don’t value Test cricket is unfair,” the official added. “We’re building a strong Test calendar to ensure our team competes at the highest level.”

With growing concerns that the proposed two-tier system could widen the gap between cricket’s elite and emerging teams, Pakistan’s firm opposition is expected to resonate with other full members who may face similar risks.
