Haseebullah Khan breaks silence on reports about leaving Pakistan

Pakistan’s rising wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah Khan has opened up on reports claiming he has left Pakistan to pursue a long-term cricket career in England.

Speculation surfaced on social media in the past few days suggesting that the 22-year-old had moved to England with the aim of switching his allegiance to English cricket. However, Haseebullah has now rubbished these claims through an Instagram story, calling all such reports baseless.

“I want to inform you all that I have arrived in England for my domestic county contract and other commitments,” he clarified. “I am fully committed and determined to represent my country Pakistan with complete dedication and passion.”

قومی کرکٹر نے پاکستان چھوڑ کر انگلینڈ منتقل ہونے کی خبر پر خاموشی توڑ دی

The young cricketer also urged his fans not to pay attention to any false news. “My humble request to everyone is not to believe in fake news and rumours. Pakistan Zindabad,” he wrote.

A viral Facebook post had claimed that Haseebullah met with England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) agents to discuss his future in English cricket.

It is worth mentioning that Haseebullah has played three T20Is for Pakistan, scoring 36 runs at an average of 12. He was also part of Quetta Gladiators in the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League but featured in only one match, scoring seven runs.

The reports surfaced after he was not selected in the Pakistan Shaheens’ recently announced squad for the England tour and the Top End T20 Series in Australia.

  • Hamzah Sheeraz hailed as next superstar after brutal stoppage win over Berlanga

Hamzah Sheeraz hailed as next superstar after brutal stoppage win over Berlanga

Fans are praising British-Pakistani boxer Hamzah Sheeraz after his major fifth-round stoppage victory over American boxer Edgar Berlanga in New York on Sunday.

Fighting for the first time at super middleweight, the 26-year-old dropped Berlanga twice in the fourth round and at the beginning of the fifth, forcing the referee to end the fight.

Sheeraz’s win at the Louis Armstrong Stadium at Flushing Meadows improves his record to 22-0 with one draw and 18 wins by knockout. It was his first bout since a draw with WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames in February, after which he decided to move up in weight.

Berlanga, on the other hand, suffered his second loss in three fights, taking his record to 23-2. He had previously lost to Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez on points before bouncing back with a stoppage win over Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz in March.

Sheeraz is now eyeing a dream clash with Canelo Alvarez, the undisputed super middleweight champion.

“It would be an honour to share the ring with him; it genuinely would,” Sheeraz said. “One thing I can guarantee is if I do ever share the ring with Canelo, it’s not going to be the case of what happened in his last fight, where his opponent [William Scull] was trying to run. Even if I get knocked out, I’ll stand there and trade with him. I’ll put on a good performance because that’s what it’s about, daring to be great, and I’ll do just that.”

In the other co-main event, Shakur Stevenson retained his WBC lightweight world title with a unanimous decision win over William Zepeda. Stevenson improved his unbeaten record to 24-0 with 11 knockouts, comfortably winning on all three judges’ scorecards. It was the first loss for Mexico’s Zepeda, who now stands at 33-1.

Sheeraz’s dominant performance has earned him widespread praise on social media, with many fans calling him boxing’s next big star.

One user wrote, “Great fight that was today… Hamzah Sheeraz became a superstar tonight and knocked Berlanga down 2x before getting him out of there in round 6 when the referee waved it off… brutal beat down.”

Another fan praised his style, saying, “Power with the right straight left hook combo love to see it!”

Comparisons to past British greats also poured in, with one comment reading, “That like look like a young Amir Khan.”

Others applauded his bounce-back performance: “Sheeraz’s last fight wasn’t great but this was killer. Well done Sheeraz, that was impressive .”

Another added, “Brutal knockout well deserved and well done Sheeraz.”

One fan summed up the mood, writing, “What a statement win on his US debut! ”

  • Army chief has never expressed desire to become president: PM

Army chief has never expressed desire to become president: PM

Earlier reports suggesting that President Asif Ali Zardari was asked to step down and that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir intended to assume the presidency have been dismissed as “mere speculation” by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Speaking to The News, PM Shehbaz clarified that there was no truth to the reports circulating in the media.

Media reports suggest that it all started with a couple of journalists “revealing” on social media that a plan was underway to remove Zardari from the Presidency for allegedly leaking the specific meeting conversation regarding the plan to build new Canals from the Indus River.

Others claim the rumours began circulating after the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) obtained a simple majority in the National Assembly (NA) after the reinstatement of reserved seats by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) following the top court’s Constitutional Bench verdict.

“Field Marshal Asim Munir has never expressed any desire to become the president, nor is there any such plan in the offing,” The News quoted the premier as saying.

He emphasised that the trio of President Zardari, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and himself share a relationship built on mutual respect and a common goal, the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

This comes days after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had also firmly rebuffed such rumours.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Naqi wrote that “we are fully aware” of who is behind the “malicious campaign” targeting the president, the premier and the army chief.

“I have categorically stated that there has been no discussion, nor does any such idea exist, about the President being asked to resign or the COAS aspiring to assume the presidency,” he clarified.

Naqvi underscored that the President enjoys a strong and respectful relationship with the Armed Forces’ leadership. “I know who is spreading these falsehoods, why they are doing so, and who stands to benefit from this propaganda,” he quoted Zardari as saying.

The interior minister emphasised that the sole focus of the COAS is the strength and stability of Pakistan, “nothing else”.

“To those involved in this narrative, do whatever you wish in collaboration with hostile foreign agencies. As for us, we will do whatever is necessary to make Pakistan strong again, InshAllah (sic),” he said.

The episode aired on Friday, July 11, and featured guest host Dwyane Wade. In their conversation, Jenna revealed that although she has close friends who are also mothers, she isn’t a fan of the label.

  • Ariel Winter Recalls Inappropriate Behavior from Men as a Child Star

Ariel Winter Recalls Inappropriate Behavior from Men as a Child Star

Former Modern Family star Ariel Winter has spoken out about the dark side of growing up in Hollywood. In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, the actress opened up about the inappropriate behavior she faced from adult men as a child.

Winter, now 26, began acting at the age of 4. She rose to fame playing Alex Dunphy on Modern Family, starting at age 11. While promoting the new YouTube docuseries SOSA Undercover, she shared that she had to deal with male predators from a young age.

“I don’t want to say too much,” she said, “but once I had a phone and a laptop, I started getting inappropriate messages from older men.” She also shared that these experiences caused long-term emotional harm.

“The things I experienced in person and online affected me deeply,” Winter continued. “I had to go to therapy for the trauma.”

She described the film and TV industry as a “dark place.” Along with the inappropriate behavior, Winter also faced heavy body shaming during her teen years. These struggles led her to take antidepressants while in high school.

The medication caused weight gain, but Winter said her mental health came first. She eventually moved out of Los Angeles to focus on healing. “I went on a journey of self-healing,” she said.

In SOSA Undercover, Winter plays a key role in exposing online predators. She goes undercover by posing as a child online to catch adults looking to harm minors. She called the experience “cathartic” and meaningful.

“Pretending to be 12 and talking to older men is scary,” she admitted. “But putting predators away is worth it.”

The docuseries is part of a project by SOSA, a nonprofit focused on stopping online sexual abuse. They work with law enforcement to protect children and support survivors.

Winter said her goal is to protect other young girls from what she went through. “I’ve been the girl we’re trying to save,” she said.
