Sardaar Ji 3, part of the hit Punjabi comedy franchise, stars Diljit Dosanjh as the beloved Sardaar Ji and marks Hania Aamir’s big Punjabi film debut. Directed by Rohit Jugraj and backed by White Hill Studios and Rhythm Boyz Entertainment, the film blends romance, comedy, and light supernatural elements, with veterans like Jaswinder Bhalla and BN Sharma adding to the charm.

Despite the unfortunate ban on its release in India following the April 22 Pahalgam attack, the film is making waves globally. The producers, with support from Diljit, chose not to release the film in India out of respect for public sentiment. But that hasn’t stopped it from becoming a massive success overseas.

In just one week, Sardaar Ji 3 has earned ₹33.6 crore (PKR 109.87 crore) and is well on track to cross the ₹50 crore (PKR 163.5 crore) milestone. Audiences across the US, Canada, UK, and Pakistan are calling it a “joyful cross-border triumph.”

Passenger mistakenly flown to Jeddah serves legal notice to airline

Malik Shahzain, the Karachi-bound passenger who was mistakenly flown to Jeddah, has now issued a legal notice to AirSial, holding the airline accountable for its negligence.

The notice, which was filed under the Sindh Consumer Protection Act of 2014, demands an explanation and reimbursement for additional travel expenses.

Shahzain claimed that the airline’s negligence caused him significant distress, as he had to pay extra travel expenses to return to Lahore after being questioned by Saudi immigration authorities for not having the necessary documents.

Shahzain, who had been in Lahore for about a month managing factory-related matters, scheduled an AirSial trip from Lahore to Karachi on July 7. At 9:45 PM, he was scheduled to board flight PF146.

Upon reaching the airport and collecting his boarding pass, he unknowingly boarded an international flight to Jeddah, which was carrying pilgrims for the Umrah.

“Two hours later, I began to wonder why the plane wasn’t landing. That’s when I found out I had boarded the wrong flight,” he said.

Upon arrival in Jeddah, he was still inside the plane when a team informed him that the airplane would take him back to Lahore.

He eventually returned and boarded flight PF144 to Karachi on July 8 at 3:45 AM.

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) issued letters to the station manager and the civil aviation regulator after taking notice of the incident.

According to PAA spokesman Saifullah, “the civil aviation regulator has been requested in the letter to impose a heavy fine on the airline that is guilty of negligence.”

The statement did not, however, clarify how the passenger was able to clear immigration at Lahore airport before boarding the Jeddah-bound flight.

Karachi man tries to kill woman after she rejects his marriage proposal

A man was arrested in Karachi’s Ittehad Town for allegedly trying to kill a woman after she rejected his marriage proposal.

According to the police, the suspect fired at the woman, who escaped the attack unharmed. A case was filed at the Ittehad Town Police Station under sections 324 for “attempted murder” and 34  for “common intention” of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

After receiving a tip-off, a police team under the authority of Station House Officer Inspector Rao Shabbir Ahmed arrested the suspect and seized illegal firearms, with another case filed under section 23(1)-A of the Arms Act.

According to authorities, the man has a history of violence. He was charged with trying to kill his ex-wife by throwing acid on her in 2021. The case was registered at Saeedabad Police Station under PPC sections 336-A and 336-B.

He was also linked to another firing incident in Ittehad Town in which he attacked a person with unidentified accomplices. The case included PPC sections 337-(i)H, 324, 109, and 34.

Violence against women has seen a significant rise in recent years, prompting the Sindh High Court to criticise police for not taking such cases seriously.

Earlier this year, a young woman was shot dead in a deliberate assault in Orangi Town in January, while a man was detained outside Karachi’s Malir Court on suspicion of killing his wife.

Mitchell Starc delivers career best performance to reduce West Indies to 27 runs

Australia crushed West Indies by 176 runs in the third and final day-night Test cricket, completing a dominant 3-0 series sweep. The Caribbeans were bowled out for just 27 runs in their second innings.

This was the second-lowest completed Test innings total recorded in the past 70 years.

The Caribbeans were very close to matching the infamous record set by New Zealand back in 1955, when they were bowled out for just 26 by England in Auckland. South Africa has twice been dismissed for 30 runs, but West Indies’ collapse now sits right among these historic batting disasters.

In this horror show, seven West Indies batters were dismissed for ducks while four of them fell for golden ducks (bowled out on the first ball), adding more embarrassment to an already forgettable outing.

Australia’s bowlers were ruthless under lights. Fast bowler Scott Boland claimed a stunning hat-trick. Starc claimed the fastest five-wicket haul in Test cricket history, taking five wickets in just 15 balls on July 14 to rewrite the record books. He also crossed 400 Test wickets and was named player of the match for his career-best figures of six wickets for nine runs.

Australia scored 225 in their first innings and added 121 in the second. West Indies managed 143 in their first innings but the historic collapse in the second innings left them with just 27 on the board.

This dominant performance sealed a clean sweep for Australia, winning the three-match Test series 3-0 against the West Indies.

  • ‘India denied him a visa, Shoaib Bashir denied them a win’: Internet roasts India following Lords defeat

‘India denied him a visa, Shoaib Bashir denied them a win’: Internet roasts India following Lords defeat

Cricket fans can not get over how England off-spinner Shoaib Bashir took the final wicket, crushing India’s hopes of a thrilling chase in the third Test at Lord’s.

The 21-year-old England off-spinner, who once faced visa issues for his Pakistani roots while travelling to India, took the lead despite a fractured little finger on his non-bowling hand. India were chasing 193 and had fought their way to 170 for nine, with Ravindra Jadeja steady at 61 and Mohammed Siraj defending every ball.

Just after the tea break on the final day, Bashir came back to bowl, got Siraj to defend a ball, and watched it roll back onto the stumps, sealing England’s nail-biting 22-run win.

England are now up 2-1 in the five-match series, but Pakistani fans say it is Bashir’s ‘visa revenge’, leaving the internet in splits.

Earlier in 2024, India reportedly delayed his visa due to his family roots in Mirpur, Pakistan.

One user shared a meme of Bashir in a Pakistan army uniform with the caption, “How Indians see Shoaib Bashir today.” Another wrote, “India denied him the visa but he denied them the match. Shoaib Bashir’s revenge completed.”

Some have dubbed him “Major Shoaib Bashir” while others joked, “Didn’t watch a single second but so glad it was Bashir who finished it off with a broken finger.”

Unfortunately for England, their hero will miss the rest of the series as he has been ruled out of the upcoming matches due to that finger injury.

  • Police reveal why neighbours didn’t notice Humaira Asghar’s death

Police reveal why neighbours didn’t notice Humaira Asghar’s death

Police have shared more details about the death of actress and model Humaira Asghar, revealing why her death went unnoticed for so long.

Speaking on a private TV program about Humara Asghar’s case, whose body was found in her apartment in Karachi’s DHA Phase 6 on July 8, DIG South Asad Raza explained, “The smell of a decomposing body can last for 5 to 40 days. But the family living in the flat next to hers was out of the country from October to February, which made it impossible for anyone to notice her death.”

He further shared that the room where Humaira’s body was found had an attached gallery, and the washroom window in the next room was open, which may have caused the smell to spread and disappear over time.

DIG added that an investigation is underway involving the flat management, the watchman, and neighbours.

The police claim that, as per their findings, Humaira died on October 7, 2024. “Three days later, the watchman tried calling her, but she didn’t respond. One of her friends also tried to contact her, but got no reply,” According to our records

Humaira Asghar’s body was discovered on July 8, when a court bailiff went to her flat for a case filed by the landlord over unpaid rent.

At first, reports suggested that the body had been there for 1 to 2 months. However, the post-mortem report revealed Humaira had been dead for 8 to 10 months, and her body was in the final stages of decomposition.

Slightly taken aback, the vendor replies that no one has.

  • Air India crash probe examines pilots’ mental health records amid depression claims

Air India crash probe examines pilots’ mental health records amid depression claims

Investigators looking into the recent Air India crash are now reviewing the pilots’ medical records following reports that the captain may have been struggling with depression and mental health issues.

According to media reports, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner was under the control of Captain Sumit Sabharwal at the time of the incident, who had logged over 8,200 flight hours in his career.

A leading aviation safety expert in India, however, revealed that several Air India pilots have confirmed Captain Sabharwal had been dealing with mental health problems. They claimed he had taken medical leave and a break from flying over the past three to four years, but was cleared to fly again by Air India before the crash.

The tragic accident occurred on June 12, when Air India Flight 171 crashed just moments after take-off. Reports state that two fuel switches in the cockpit were turned off shortly after departure, causing both engines to shut down and the aircraft to plummet to the ground.

Experts note that these fuel switches have a locking mechanism and need to be lifted before they can be turned off, making it unlikely they were accidentally switched off.

The investigation is now focusing on the pilot’s behaviour and mental state.

The Air India plane crashed into a residential area, killing 241 passengers on board as well as 19 people on the ground. The probe is ongoing as investigators look deeper into potential lapses in medical clearance and cockpit procedures.

  • Stock market hits record high as investor sentiment improves

Stock market hits record high as investor sentiment improves

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a massive 2,202-point rally, allowing the benchmark index of the exchange, KSE-100 index, to cross the 136,500 point resistance level, setting a new all-time high. According to reports, shares climbed rapidly on Monday as investor confidence surged because of improved economic indicators.

The aforementioned improvement in indicators refer to the recent improvement in Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves, spike in remittances, and reports of strong demand for automobiles during fiscal year (FY) 2024-25.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office linked the PSX’s recent upward trajectory to the “business community’s growing confidence in Pakistan’s economy.” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also highlighted how the federal government is committed to provide a business-friendly environment.

These developments caused the index to open in the green in the early hours of the day, with the upwards momentum continuing until closing hours. The KSE-100 index reached an intraday high of 136,841.49 points. The index peaked at approximately 3:27 PM, after which the market closed at a lower, yet respectable, 136,502.53 points.

For reference, the KSE-100 closed at 134,299.766 points on Friday, after which the index recorded a growth of 1.64 percent during trading hours on Friday, leading to a 2,202.77 point rise. The market displayed a slowdown around 9:30 AM as the KSE-100 hit its intraday trading low of 134,937.43 points.

Of the 18 indexes listed on the exchange, 16 remained in the green with the All-share index (ALLSHR) growing by 1.26 percent, which translates into a 1,061.74 point rise in the index. Unlike the KSE-100, which tracks the performance of the 100 largest and most liquid companies, the ALLSHR index records the performance of all publicly listed companies on the PSX.

A number of companies witnessed a rise in share prices, with PICIC Insurance Limited (PIL) and Crescent Star Insurance Limited (CSIL) winning big, to the tune of growth rates that sat at 29.33 percent (PIL) and 28.78 percent (CSIL).

However, not every publicly listed stock witnessed an improvement, as many companies witnessed sharp declines. Of these declining companies, the one that fared the worst during intraday trading was Trust Modaraba (TRSM), which posted a 12.95 percent decline in its position.

Recent reports have outlined the trend for the period following the coming week, suggesting that the KSE-100 index could cross 165,000 points by the middle of FY 2025-26, owing to a drop in interest rates and an improved state of the wider economy.
