VIDEO: ‘This calls for another slap,’ says Fawad Ch in response to PTI’s press release

Former Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Monday said that a press release against him by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was issued against party founder Imran Khan’s directive.

The PTI political committee on Saturday issued a statement on PTI’s official X (formerly Twitter) account condemning Chaudhry’s violence against lawyer Shoaib Shaheen. The scuffle between them occurred outside Adiala Jail Rawalpindi’s gate no. five on Friday.

Speaking on a private media outlet, Chaudhry said that in the presence of PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Khan at Adiala Jail, Imran Khan denied that he instructed the party to issue the press release against him.

When the programme host said that the condemnation press release appears to be written by the PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and asked whether Raja would be the next target of Chaudhry’s violence, the former Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry sarcastically responded that Raja should correct his behaviour so that he doesn’t get beaten up.

The condemnation’s statement dubbed Chaudhry’s action a “crude and callous demonstration of the animal instinct over logic and reason.”

Further terming Chaudhry’s action “a criminal act”, the statement said, “It is not a slap on the face of Mr. Shoaib Shaheen alone. It is a slap on the face of PTI.”

When asked by the host if Chaudhry was going to slap someone else, he replied that the press release sure called for one. “These two or three people do not have any other treatment,” he said, bursting into laughter.

Additionally, the statement read, “His dastardly conduct further reflects the frustration that Fawad Chaudhry may be suffering from when, as per instructions of the Founder Chairman Mr. Imran Ahmad Khan Niazi, the party announced its complete dissociation from his person. It was also announced that Mr. Fawad Chaudhry would not represent the party at any forum in any manner whatsoever.”

“The Political Committee of PTI takes a serious note of the incident and condemns Mr. Fawad Chaudhry’s gross demeanour in the strongest possible words. The Political Committee also reiterates its complete support for Mr. Shoaib Shaheen for his sagacity in the face of adversity. We salute his courage and composure in dealing with an ugly situation. Despite the dastardly provocation, we call upon our activists and workers to remain peaceful. The party shall prevail.”

He lambasted PTI leaders, saying that Imran Khan’s name is being misused. “Owing to their [party leaders] assistance, Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and Yasmin Rashid are in jail,” he alleged.

Asked about whether the party founder has not expelled Chaudhry from the party and if he is still associated with the party, he said, “Yes, 100 per cent.”

  • Jim Belushi Shares Why SNL and Divorce Were Life’s Toughest Challenges

Jim Belushi Shares Why SNL and Divorce Were Life’s Toughest Challenges

Jim Belushi has lived a colorful, challenging, and rewarding life, with ups and downs shaping his career and personal life. He is known for his time on Saturday Night Live (SNL) and his comedic roles in Hollywood. Belushi recently reflected on two of the most challenging things he has ever experienced: his time on SNL and his divorce.

In an exclusive interview during SNL50: The Anniversary Special, the 70-year-old actor and comedian shared his experiences with both, revealing how they played a pivotal role in his career and personal growth. According to Belushi, these moments helped shape him into the actor he is today and provided valuable lessons that continue to impact his life.

SNL: The Toughest Job of His Career

For Jim Belushi, Saturday Night Live wasn’t just a stepping stone. It was a defining moment in his career. Joining the iconic sketch comedy show in 1983, Belushi was immediately thrust into the fast-paced world of live television. However, the experience was far from easy.

In his recent interview, Belushi revealed that SNL was “the hardest thing I ever did, including divorce.” He described his time on the show as incredibly challenging, not only because of the demanding nature of live television but also because of his struggles during that period.

During his tenure from 1983 to 1985, Jim was famously the first SNL cast member to be fired and rehired. His out-of-control behavior, which included throwing a fire extinguisher at SNL producer Dick Ebersol, led to his firing. Reflecting on that time, Belushi admitted it was the best thing that ever happened to him.

“I was out of my mind,” he confessed. “I was throwing a fire extinguisher at Dick Ebersol, a hissy fit. It was the best thing to ever happen to me. I was out of control. I came back with my tail between my legs, humbled, and I stopped drinking for the rest of that season.”

This humbling experience changed his approach to his career and allowed him to become a better, more grounded person. Jim Belushi later returned to SNL, much wiser, and he credits the show for molding him into the comic actor he is today. Despite the challenges, he expressed immense gratitude for being part of such a legendary institution.

    The Influence of Second City

Before his time on SNL, Jim Belushi was a member of Second City, the renowned improv comedy group based in Chicago. Belushi credits Second City and Saturday Night Live as key factors shaping his career. His experiences at both institutions helped him grow as a performer, honing his skills and solidifying his place in the comedy world.

In his interview, Belushi said, “I’ve been fortunate enough to be part of the Second City in Chicago, which has been going for 50 years, and Saturday Night Live, which has been going for years. Both of these institutions have trained me and given me a career.”

The lessons learned through these experiences have influenced his acting and his ability to navigate life’s challenges, including personal struggles like his divorce.

    Divorce: A Personal Struggle

In addition to his challenges on SNL, Jim Belushi has also faced significant personal hardship. His divorce from his third wife, Jennifer Sloan, was one of the most challenging experiences of his life. The couple initially filed for divorce in 2018, and though they briefly reconciled, the divorce was finalized in 2021.

Belushi was candid about how painful this time was for him, stating that it was one of the hardest things he’s ever gone through. “They were both the toughest things I’ve ever done, including divorce,” he shared.

The divorce came after years of personal and professional challenges for Belushi, including his brother John Belushi’s tragic death in 1982. Jim reflected on how his brother, who had also been a part of the SNL family, struggled with similar pressures. Jim’s grief over his brother’s passing, compounded by the difficulties of his career and marriage, added a complex layer to his struggles.

Though Jim Belushi ultimately found peace after the divorce, the emotional toll was significant. Despite the pain, he learned valuable life lessons from these hardships, including the importance of humility, self-reflection, and prioritizing personal growth.

    Career Resilience and Moving Forward

Jim Belushi’s ability to overcome such monumental challenges speaks to his resilience. From his difficult time on SNL to the pain of divorce, he has continuously learned from his experiences and emerged stronger each time. His journey is a testament to his ability to adapt, grow, and succeed after facing some of life’s most challenging hurdles.

Reflecting on his career, Jim Belushi said, “They molded me into the comic actor and the good career that I have today. I’m just grateful.” Despite obstacles, Belushi’s career has flourished, and his gratitude for his opportunities remains evident.

    What’s Next for Jim Belushi?

Looking ahead, Jim Belushi remains an active figure in the entertainment industry. He continues to act in both television and film, leveraging his extensive experience to take on new roles. He has also become involved in other ventures, including his role as a cannabis entrepreneur.

Through it all, Belushi maintains a grounded perspective on his career and personal life. He often speaks about his experiences with a sense of humility and remains deeply grateful for the opportunities he’s had despite the struggles along the way.

    Conclusion

Jim Belushi’s reflections on Saturday Night Live and his divorce provide insight into his personal and professional challenges. Though difficult, his time on SNL shaped his career and made him the beloved comic actor fans know today. Similarly, his painful divorce has given him valuable life lessons that have allowed him to grow as a person.

Through it all, Jim Belushi’s resilience, gratitude, and ability to adapt have made him a remarkable figure in Hollywood. His journey reminds us that even the most demanding challenges can lead to personal growth and success.

From her early days as a supermodel to becoming a household name through her television career, Tyra has incredibly influenced both industries. This blog post will explore Tyra Banks’ rise to fame and her lasting impact on fashion and TV.

Tyra Banks’ Early Life and Entry into Fashion

Tyra Lynne Banks was born in Inglewood, California, on December 4, 1973. From an early age, she was passionate about fashion. However, she wasn’t always the confident model we know today. As a teenager, she struggled with low self-esteem and was teased for being taller and skinnier than her peers. However, her passion for fashion and modeling never wavered.

At 15, Tyra was discovered by a modeling scout while still in high school. She quickly gained recognition in the fashion world and signed with top modeling agencies. By the age of 17, Tyra had moved to Paris, where she began working for some of the biggest names in the fashion industry.

Her breakthrough came in the early 1990s when Tyra became one of the first African-American models to appear in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Soon, she was gracing the covers of major magazines like Sports Illustrated, Vogue, and Elle, becoming one of the most sought-after models in the world.

    Tyra Banks’ Transition to Television

In the late 1990s, Tyra Banks was already a successful model, but she wanted more. She knew she had the potential to be more than just a face on a magazine cover. Tyra made the bold decision to venture into television and acting, where she was ready to make an impact in a new way.

In 1996, Tyra made her acting debut with a role on the hit TV show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. This appearance helped her gain recognition as a multifaceted entertainer. But it wasn’t until 2000 that Tyra Banks made her mark on television.

America’s Next Top Model: A Game Changer

In 2003, Tyra Banks launched her reality television show, America’s Next Top Model (ANTM). The show would become one of TV’s most successful reality series. As the host and executive producer of ANTM, Tyra became a powerful voice in the modeling industry. She helped reshape the definition of beauty by showcasing models of different body types, ethnicities, and backgrounds.

ANTM had a lasting impact on the fashion world. It allowed aspiring models to break into the competitive industry and offered a platform to discuss essential beauty, self-esteem, and empowerment issues. Under Tyra’s leadership, the show also tackled topics like diversity, body positivity, and mental health, which are rarely discussed in mainstream fashion.

Tyra’s role on ANTM made her an iconic figure in the entertainment world. She became known for her catchphrase, “I was rooting for you!” and her challenging but encouraging attitude toward the contestants. She could push her models to their limits while helping them build confidence.

    Tyra Banks: A Business Mogul

Tyra Banks is not just a model and TV personality; she’s also a savvy businesswoman. After the success of America’s Next Top Model, Tyra expanded her career into various ventures, including entrepreneurship. She launched Tyra Beauty, a cosmetics line focused on products for women of all skin tones. While the line had its ups and downs, Tyra’s commitment to inclusivity in the beauty industry remains a cornerstone of her brand.

Tyra also ventured into the world of books, releasing a memoir titled Perfect Is Boring in 2018. The book offered insights into her struggles with self-esteem, rise to fame, and journey to self-acceptance. Through this project, Tyra emphasized that perfection isn’t the goal; self-confidence and authenticity are key.

In addition to her own businesses, Tyra has invested in other entrepreneurial ventures. She made a mark in Silicon Valley by investing in startup companies and supporting various philanthropic causes. Her business savvy has helped her remain relevant and influential in today’s fast-changing world.

Tyra Banks’ Influence on Body Positivity and Diversity

Throughout her career, Tyra Banks has fiercely advocated diversity and body positivity. As one of the first African-American models to break barriers in the fashion world, she set a precedent for future generations of models from diverse backgrounds.

Tyra’s impact on diversity goes beyond the modeling industry. She played an essential role in bringing more body types, races, and ethnicities to the forefront of mainstream fashion and television. Her advocacy for body positivity has helped shift the narrative that only a specific “type” of beauty can be celebrated in media.

In addition to breaking barriers for models of color, Tyra also advocated for models of all shapes and sizes. She introduced various contestants to America’s Next Top Model, ensuring that women of different body types were represented. She even opened up about her struggles with weight, discussing how she struggled with being criticized for her body image during her modeling career.

    Tyra Banks’ Legacy

Tyra Banks’ influence on the worlds of fashion and television is undeniable. She has redefined beauty standards, pushed for greater diversity, and empowered countless individuals to embrace their true selves. Whether through America’s Next Top Model or her brand, Tyra has left a lasting legacy that inspires new generations of models, entrepreneurs, and creatives.

Her ability to reinvent herself and take on new challenges is a testament to her resilience and determination. Tyra has shown the world that success is not just beauty and fame. It’s about hard work, authenticity, and the courage to break boundaries.

    Conclusion

  • India allows players to bring families to Champions Trophy but on ‘one condition’

India allows players to bring families to Champions Trophy but on ‘one condition’

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a slight U-turn on its policy regarding players’ families accompanying them on foreign tours.

Initially, the Indian cricket team was not allowed to bring their wives and families to the Champions Trophy, but the BCCI has now allowed players to have their families with them, albeit with a condition.

According to Indian media, players have been given permission to bring their wives and families along during the Champions Trophy, but only for one match. This decision marks a softening of the earlier stance, where it was confirmed that the Indian team would travel without their families, and no player would be allowed to bring them along.

The latest update reveals that the BCCI has granted players the option to have their families join them in Dubai during the Champions Trophy, but with strict conditions. According to reports, each player is allowed to have family members accompany them for one match, and they must consult with fellow players before informing the board about their decision.

Under the previous policy, which was in place for tours longer than 45 days, players were permitted to have their families accompany them for up to two weeks. The new family policy was introduced after the Test series against Australia.

It remains unclear which match the Indian cricketers will choose to have their families attend.

However, the Indian team has already arrived in Dubai for the Champions Trophy.

  • Textile export growth rate rebounds after three-month slump

Textile export growth rate rebounds after three-month slump

Exports in the textile sector surged by a whopping 15.85 per cent in January 2025 compared to the same period a year ago. As per newly released data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), textile export growth in the past month is merely a continuation of the rapid growth rates that the sector has seen in the first half of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024-25.

The data shows that growth rates sat at 13 percent in August, 17.92 percent in September, 13.11 percent in October, 10.81 percent in November and reached a low of 5.55 percent in December. Previously, some analysts were concerned about a steady decline in growth rates from September 2024.

However, export growth has recovered significantly, posting impressive double-digit growth rates – as per reports, exporters had predicted this growth rate in previous periods.

The recovery of Pakistani textile exports is being attributed to the disruption in supply Bangladeshi producers have experienced. According to reports, the aforementioned disruptions have allowed Pakistani textiles to experience a surge in demand in the international market.

For reference, textile and clothing exports sat at a conservative $1.45 billion in January 2024, whereas the corresponding export value for January 2025 improved to an impressive $1.68 billion.

The first seven months of FY 2024-25 managed to bring in $10.77 billion in export revenue – A stark improvement from $9.74 billion over the corresponding months of the previous FY.

Export revenues are crucial for cash-strapped Pakistan to keep the economy afloat. Without the textile sector’s contributions, the trade deficit would undoubtedly widen, leaving Pakistan’s economy in a vulnerable state.

This is because the textile sector is responsible for bringing approximately 60 percent of all export revenues into the country. Moreover, the sector makes significant contributions towards the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) while employing a sizable number of individuals.

While data from PBS paints an optimistic picture, there are multiple issues plaguing the sector. The textile sector is under threat as approximately 187 mills recently shut down in Punjab alone.

According to reports, a lack of sensible economic planning and flawed policies have trapped the textile sector in a quagmire. For example, a policy mandates that industrialists pay extortionate rates to purchase power since policymakers have adjusted capacity charges and line losses into industry electricity bills.

Analysts have commented on how it makes little intuitive sense for industrialists to cover line loss charges when power theft in industrial areas remains minimal.

Sindh govt abolishes paid parking in Karachi

The Sindh government has announced the abolition of all charged parking starting Monday, February 17.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon, speaking to the media, said that any charged parking after today will be illegal. He urged journalists to inform the government if they notice any instances of charged parking.

Earlier, while highlighting that accidents occur daily on the roads of Sehwan and Hyderabad, the minister clarified that these roads do not fall under the jurisdiction of Sindh but belong to the federal government. He asserted that the responsibility for their construction lies with the National Highway Authority.

He further stated that the Punjab Information Minister should do his homework before making statements. The Sindh government had already paid the federal government for the construction of this road, but the failure of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) (PML-N) to complete it is its failure.

However, Sherjeel Memon has assured that the Sindh government will provide complete security for the Cricket Champions Trophy starting February 19.

Legal trouble for Bachchan family as son-in-law charged with fraud, abetment to suicide

Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan’s son-in-law Nikhil Nanda has been accused of fraud and abetment to suicide.

According to Indian media reports, a case has been filed against Nanda in Uttar Pradesh where he is accused of pressuring a businessman to meet unrealistic sales targets, ultimately leading to the latter’s suicide three months ago.

The incident reportedly unfolded when Jitendra Singh, who owned a tractor dealership, was subjected to intense pressure from Nanda and other senior executives at Escorts Kubota Limited to increase sales figures.

The dealership owner, already struggling with the added burden of managing his business alone, was allegedly threatened that his licence would be revoked if he failed to meet the target.

Overwhelmed by the pressure, Singh took his own life, reports said.

The complaint has been filed by Singh’s brother Gyanendra who accused Escorts Kubota Chairman and Managing Director Nanda, as well as other officials, including area managers, sales managers and a local dealer, of subjecting the late businessman to intimidation and driving his tragic death.

While an official statement has not yet come from Nanda, the Bachchan family has also refrained from commenting on the issue.

Nanda is married to Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan’s daughter Shweta. The couple have two children together – Navya Naveli Nanda, a women’s rights advocate and podcaster, and Agastya Nanda, who made his Bollywood debut with The Archies.

Born into the Kapoor family, Nanda is the son of Ritu Nanda, the daughter of Raj Kapoor, one of Bollywood’s most influential filmmakers. His uncles Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor were all major film stars.

As the leader of Escorts Kubota, he has been credited with significantly growing the company, which is a key player in India’s agricultural machinery market.

Before venturing into business, Nanda completed his schooling at the prestigious Doon School in Dehradun, followed by business management studies at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

He then took the helm at Escorts Kubota, a company originally founded by his grandfathers, Har Prasad Nanda and Yudi Nanda, both highly respected figures in the agricultural machinery sector.

In addition to his corporate success, Nanda’s association with Bollywood has kept him in the public eye. Prominent celebrities Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ranbir Kapoor are his cousins.

  • Rafael Devers Refuses Position Change in Bold Statement at Red Sox Spring Training

Rafael Devers Refuses Position Change in Bold Statement at Red Sox Spring Training

Rafael Devers is one of the brightest stars for the Boston Red Sox. He has clarified his position as spring training heats up. With the arrival of free agent Alex Bregman, a new question has loomed over the Red Sox’s infield: where will each player fit? While Bregman’s signing was celebrated as a significant move for the Red Sox, it also led to speculation about Devers potentially shifting positions. However, Devers was quick to shut down any rumors. He is committed to playing third base, a position he has held throughout his career, and he’s not interested in making a change.

Rafael Devers: The Heart of the Red Sox’s Infield

Rafael Devers has been a fixture in the Red Sox lineup for years. As the team’s most consistent offensive weapon, he has earned a reputation as one of the best third basemen in the league. His powerful bat and steady presence at third base have made him a fan favorite, and his contributions were key to the team’s World Series victory in 2018. Despite shoulder issues last season, Devers has continued to produce offensively and remains an anchor in the Red Sox’s lineup.

In recent years, Devers’ fielding has been scrutinized. His defensive metrics were less than stellar in 2024, with -9 Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) and -2.6 Defensive Wins Above Replacement (Defensive WAR). While these numbers aren’t ideal, Devers’ offensive production still makes him a valuable player. The Red Sox have committed a significant portion of their payroll to him, and a hefty $313.5 million contract ensures he stays with the team for the long term.

Alex Bregman’s Arrival and the Position Talk

When the Red Sox signed Alex Bregman to a three-year, $120 million deal, the focus quickly shifted to the infield. Bregman, a talented defensive player, could easily slot into third base, raising whether Devers would have to change positions. The Red Sox had initially told Devers that third base was his home for the foreseeable future, but the addition of Bregman raised doubts about how the team would handle the situation.

Bregman is known for his stellar defensive skills. His defensive WAR 8.1 in 2024 showed he’s a significant asset in the field. He’s played at multiple positions, including third base, shortstop, and second base, making him a versatile addition. This versatility has led some to believe he might shift to second base, with Devers moving to first or even designated hitter. However, that’s not a move Devers is willing to make.

    Rafael Devers Speaks Out

During spring training, Rafael Devers clarified that he had no intention of switching positions. “Third base is my position,” Devers said in an interview. “It’s what I’ve played. I don’t know what their plans are. I know we had a conversation. I clarified my desires, and whatever happens from here, I don’t know.” When pressed about the possibility of becoming the designated hitter, Devers responded bluntly, “I gave them the answer that I just gave, no.”

Those who have followed Rafael Devers’s career know that his firm stance is no surprise. He takes pride in his defensive abilities and is passionate about playing third base. Despite his defensive struggles last season, Devers has proven his worth as one of the top hitters in the game. His commitment to third base is not just about position preference; it’s about pride in his craft.

    A Team-First Approach

Despite Rafael Devers’ clear preference, the Red Sox face a difficult decision. Manager Alex Cora has stressed a team-first approach, acknowledging that whatever decision is made must benefit the team. Cora has not committed to any particular position for Bregman or Devers, and it seems the final call will depend on the team’s overall needs.

Devers’ stance is clear, but Cora’s comments suggest that the Red Sox may still consider options. While Devers is firmly attached to third base, the team has to balance his desires with the best possible outcome for the lineup. Bregman’s arrival gives the Red Sox added flexibility but also creates the dilemma of where to place their star players.

Devers and the Future of the Red Sox

While position changes are a point of contention this spring, the bigger picture for the Red Sox is how they can return to championship contention. The team struggled in 2024, failing to make the playoffs, but Bregman’s signing and the leadership of players like Devers provide hope for the future. The Red Sox have been busy rebuilding, and with a core group led by Devers, they hope to turn things around in 2025.

Devers has consistently been one of the most reliable hitters in the league. His ability to hit for both power and average makes him a key piece in the Red Sox’s offense. For the team to succeed, it’s critical that Devers remains healthy and performs at a high level. The Red Sox can’t afford to lose their biggest offensive asset, and Devers knows it.

    What’s Next for Rafael Devers?

As spring training progresses, all eyes will be on Devers and his role with the team. While the position debate may continue for some time, one thing is clear: Devers is committed to playing third base and determined to give his best effort in that position. The Red Sox must now decide how to balance their roster, keeping Devers’ desires in mind while also ensuring that the team is set up for success.

With his potent bat and leadership on the field, Rafael Devers remains one of the Boston Red Sox’s most valuable players. Whether he stays at third base or not, his impact on the team will be undeniable. As the Red Sox continue their journey in 2025, Devers’ commitment to his position and the team will be key to their success.

    Conclusion

Rafael Devers is a cornerstone player for the Boston Red Sox, and his passion for third base is unwavering. As the team navigates the addition of Alex Bregman, it’s clear that Devers is focused on maintaining his role at third base. With the right balance, the Red Sox can ensure that both players contribute to a successful season. The next few weeks of spring training will be critical in shaping the team’s lineup. However, one thing is sure: Devers will remain a key figure in Boston’s quest for a return to greatness.
