Former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri and former Australian batter Ricky Ponting have made predictions for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy final.

Speaking on ICC Review, Shastri said, “India and Australia are the two teams that could play in the final of the 2025 Champions Trophy. Both teams always perform exceptionally well in major tournaments, and if we look at history, both teams are capable of qualifying for the final.”

In the same episode, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting also predicted, saying, “The final of the ICC Champions Trophy would be between India and Australia. However, the Pakistani team could challenge both teams.”

VIDEO: Islamabad SHO threatens to beat kite-flyers with a shoe, demolish their homes

A viral undated video has shown an Islamabad police officer using the loudspeaker of a mosque to warn kite-flyers, threatening to publicly beat them up with shoes, file an FIR [First Information Report] against their fathers and demolishing their homes.

As per the details, the viral video showed a man introducing himself as the SHO [station house officer] of the federal capital’s Secretariat Police Station, Ashfaq Warraich.

“If someone is caught flying a kite, I will file an FIR against their father and will beat them publicly with a shoe,” he can be seen as announcing through the loudspeaker of a mosque, adding that kite-flying was a deadly game that could cost someone their life.

In the video, Warraich goes on to say that anyone involved in kite-flying would also have their house demolished.

The video that started doing the rounds on social media Sunday has left netizens divided. While some commend the SHO for his commitment towards cracking down on the deadly game, others are criticising him for threatening the public with “extrajudicial” actions.

“I agree with this message from @ICTPolice. Children stand on rooftops to fly kites. They may fall and get injured, and the kite strings can also harm others by cutting their throats. Show no leniency; this is truly a deadly game and should be banned!” wrote one user.

Another social media user wrote, “SHO Sahab ki baat bilkul theek hai. bache to bache hote hain lekin ghar k badon ko is baat ka khyaal rakhna chahiye k patangbaazi se apne bachon ko door rakhen [SHO Sahib is absolutely right. Kids are just kids. However, grownups at home should keep their kids away from kite flying].”

“Under what law can the SHO demolish houses?” asked a netizen.

Another user questioned the “misuse of authority” by the cop and wrote, “An SHO in Islamabad allegedly used a mosque’s loudspeaker to threaten kite-flyer fathers with severe punishments. This misuse of authority questions the integrity of legal governance. Lawlessness in the capital [sic].”

“Seriously? Policeman, not even officers, threats tax payers face the house being demolished and jailed on the illegal case 4 Kite flying. Some1 promised him next police chief [sic],” said another user.

“Steps should be taken to stop kite flying, but this behaviour of the police officer is very worrying. It seems that the Islamabad police have been trained to adopt an aggressive attitude, which is very dangerous. The use of derogatory words towards the public indicates the flaws in the Islamabad police system,” read a separate post.

  • Ducky Bhai promises to refund money after severe backlash on ‘course’

Ducky Bhai promises to refund money after severe backlash on ‘course’

Amid growing backlash, Ducky Bhai has addressed the controversy surrounding ‘Join Elite Group‘ on Monday in a YouTube podcast with Talha Reviews.

He officially announced his withdrawal from the project and promised full refunds to all customers who had purchased courses.

“We are withdrawing from the matter of the entire course, and all of you will receive refunds. Now, whoever purchased the course must act responsibly. You need to send a screen recording of the email you received, along with your ID. There will be a support email where only a short screen recording is required.”

Talking about how buyers can get a refund, he said, “You have to record your screen. You must be inside the website. Once inside, press the home button and go to your bank account. You can blur or crop your personal information—no issue. Just show the date when the negative 5,000 was deducted and credited to the ‘Join Elite Group’ account. That’s all. A 20- to 30-second screen recording is enough. It will be verified, and you will receive your refund. Simple. Also, send your bank details so the refund can be processed accordingly.”

However, his other partners, Rajab Butt and Nadeem Nani Wala, have not responded yet to his statement.

    What is Join Elite Group?

Famous Pakistani vloggers Rajab Butt, Ducky Bhai (Saad ur Rehman), and Nadeem Naniwala recently launched a new online learning platform called ‘Join Elite Group’. The platform offers paid courses on topics like TikTok live streaming, business startups, cryptocurrency investments, YouTube vlogging, and online store management.

However, since its launch, Join Elite Group has faced intense criticism. Many have questioned its legitimacy and accused the creators of monetizing their audience unfairly. Critics argue that much of the knowledge being sold in these courses is already available for free on platforms like YouTube and social media.

The courses include TikTok Live Streaming, which focuses on monetization strategies for live sessions, and Business Startups, providing insights on how to launch and manage a business.

The Cryptocurrency Investments course helps participants understand and navigate the crypto market, while the YouTube Growth course teaches how to build a successful YouTube channel.

Additionally, the E-commerce Expertise course covers how to establish and optimize online stores, equipping individuals with the skills needed to thrive in the digital marketplace.

Despite these ambitious claims, the platform faced technical issues from day one. Users reported problems such as high traffic errors, frequent “too many requests” messages, and failed sign-ups, fueling scepticism about the project’s reliability.

The platform’s credibility took a major hit after several prominent YouTubers and influencers criticized it. Journalist Sheraz Butt mocked the initiative, questioning the creators’ credentials and intentions. He pointed out that Ducky Bhai himself once admitted in a podcast that he is “not a teacher” and does not provide educational content.

Additionally, YouTubers Talha Reviews, Maaz Safdar, and Ali Butt labelled the project a “scam”. They advised fans to avoid spending money on courses that offer knowledge freely available online.

Virat Kohli responds like true King to bowler who dismissed him

Indian cricket team star batter Virat Kohli reacted to fast bowler Himanshu Sangwan, who knocked him over during a match for the Ranji Trophy on January 31, 2025.

Returning to domestic cricket after more than a decade, Kohli fell to Sangwan for just six runs off 15 balls in a Ranji Trophy match.

The fast bowler then took the opportunity to get the star batter’s autograph on the very ball he used to take his wicket.

Himanshu celebrated his wicket enthusiastically, with videos and pictures of the moment going viral. However, some Kohli fans reacted aggressively and criticised the bowler.

Before signing the ball, Kohli praised the young pacer, saying, “You bowled brilliantly, and the delivery that got me out was difficult to play. I really enjoyed it.”

  • Here’s why Imam-ul-Haq was dropped from Champions Trophy squad

Here’s why Imam-ul-Haq was dropped from Champions Trophy squad

Possible reasons behind Imam-ul-Haq’s exclusion from Pakistan’s squad for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy 2025 have come to light.

With the return of Fakhar Zaman as a specialist opener, the selection committee refrained from including Test captain Shan Masood and Test opener Imam-ul-Haq in the squad, keeping in mind the absence of injured Saim Ayub and out-of-form Abdullah Shafique.

Left-handed Test opener Imam-ul-Haq has an impressive ODI record, having scored 3,138 runs in 72 matches at an average of 48.27, including 9 centuries and 20 half-centuries.

According to media reports, Imam-ul-Haq was a strong candidate for selection with his extensive experience and record. However, certain reasons led the selectors to overlooking him.

Imam last played an ODI for Pakistan on October 27, 2023, in Chennai.

Selectors reportedly had concerns over Imam-ul-Haq’s withdrawal from the team just a day before a three-day match against the West Indies last month.

During the first innings of that match, Imam-ul-Haq was dismissed for just five runs. In the second innings, Umair Bin Yousuf opened the innings alongside Mohammad Haris instead of Imam because the latter had left for Lahore with permission from head coach Umar Gul.

Mohammad Haris was handed his Test debut in Multan. However, for the second Test, selectors and the team management considered dropping a fast bowler to include Imam-ul-Haq. Reports suggest that doubts were raised over Imam’s fitness, leading to his omission.

Imam-ul-Haq was part of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) 2023-24 central contract in the ‘B’ category. However, fitness concerns played a role in his exclusion from all categories of the 2024-25 central contract.

Meanwhile, reacting to his exclusion from the Champions Trophy squad, Imam-ul-Haq took to social media platform X (previously Twitter) and wrote, “The result is not what I expected, but the journey is not over. This is life.”

He further added, “Everything is about moving forward through every difficulty, making yourself stronger, and most importantly, having patience and trust in Allah.”

PCB announced the Pakistan cricket team squad for the Champions Trophy on Friday. Here is the 15-member squad for the Champion Trophy.

    Squad:

Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Kamran Ghulam, Saud Shakeel, Tayyab Tahir,  Faheem Asharf, Khushdil Shah, Muhammad Rizwan, Usman Khan,  Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf, Sheheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Muhammad Hasnain.

The Champions Trophy is scheduled from February 19 to March 8 2025, in Pakistan and UAE.

  • Chris Philp Stresses The Need For Better Work Ethics In UK

Chris Philp Stresses The Need For Better Work Ethics In UK

Chris Philp, the Shadow Home Secretary in the UK, highlighted the need for a stronger work ethic among the British people. He believes this is key for the country to compete internationally. Currently, about nine million working-age adults in the UK are not employed. This situation shows the need for people to actively participate in the workforce. It’s especially important to stay competitive with fast-growing economies like China and India.

In a recent interview, Philp shared insights from his personal experience starting with hard work which has been instrumental in his success. He told his early jobs including working at a supermarket delivering newspapers and cleaning cars which instilled a strong work ethic in him. Philp wants to see hard work become a more substantial part of our national culture. He said Some Research shows that hard work leads to rewards and a principle I have always followed. We should make this value a more significant part of our culture.”

Philp’s statements have ignited a broader conversation concerning the work culture in the UK and the reasons behind economic inactivity. Some people believe that problems in the system like not having good access to quality education and training significantly affect employment rates. Some people point out that health issues and caregiving responsibilities make it hard for individuals to join the workforce.

Some people believe Philp’s view is too simple. They argue that just telling people to work harder ignores other issues. They support plans that help people join the economy including investing in education and healthcare or childcare. They believe that fixing these important issues will allow more people to work and contribute.

Many supporters agree with Philp that individuals should be accountable for their choices and actions. They believe we need to change our culture to value hard work and productivity. They believe that having a strong work ethic is important for the UK’s economic growth and competitiveness. Encouraging people to take action and contribute can help the nation work better and compete more effectively in the global market.

This discussion is important as the UK deals with its economy after Brexit. The country aims to find its place in a competitive global market. Helping individuals while providing support from systems can boost the country’s productivity and lead to long-term success.

Philp’s comments have started discussions on how to best solve the UK’s workforce problem. These conversations focus on what individuals and the government should do to help the economy succeed. The debate is ongoing and it is uncertain how these views will affect future policies that aim to improve the UK’s work ethic and financial situation.
