Sher Afzal Marwat unleashes furious attack on Salman Akram Raja

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat hit back at lawyer Salman Akram Raja in retaliation on Thursday, declaring his appointment as party secretary general was not in accordance with the party constitution.

Appearing on the ARY News programme Khabar, PTI firebrand Sher Afzal Marwat stated that, according to the party constitution, Salman Akram Raja cannot become the party’s secretary general. “Only the elected person who has contested an intra-party election is eligible for the position of party secretary-general,” he explained.

He went on to say that Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan and Firdous Shamim Naqvi are public officeholders. “Salman Akram Raja is a stranger [to the party],” he added.

Earlier, lawyer Salman Akram Raja, while speaking on the ARY News programme Off The Record on the same day, downplayed Marwat’s claims, which he recently linked to party founder Imran Khan, saying, “Only two or four party members are deemed capable of having the right to speak about the party.

“Marwat statement has nothing to do with the party’s official narrative. His [Marwat] statements are unimportant,” Raja said.

Following statements from Raja, who questioned Marwat’s understanding of the party’s policy matters, Marwat assailed him.

The PTI senior leader accused Raja of terminating him in the middle of the Iddat case when Raja was representing former premier Imran Khan. Raja then took over the case himself.

“I will give him a befitting reply if he speaks against me again,” Marwat said.

When asked whether PTI founder Imran Khan is aware of Marwat’s claims about Salman Akram Raja’s unconstitutional appointment as party secretary general, Marwat said, “I will meet Khan Sahib tomorrow and inform him about Salman Akram Raja’s appointment. I am sure Khan Sahib will not tolerate any violation of the party constitution.”

The PTI firebrand also alleged that YouTuber Adil Raja is an Indian intelligence agent and questioned, “Why do they [pseudo-PTI social media activists] expect me to defend them on TV when they regularly abuse me on social media?”

“How can he — who was Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer in the Panama case, Khawaja Asif [now Defence Minister], and PML-N’s Nausheen Iftikhar against PTI’s candidate Asjad Malhi — taunt me?” he mocked.

  • Novak Djokovic alleges that he was poisoned in Melbourne

Novak Djokovic alleges that he was poisoned in Melbourne

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic recently revealed that he was allegedly “poisoned” during his short stay in Melbourne back in 2022 amid the COVID-19 controversy.

Djokovic’s claims refer to the time in January 2022 when he was deported from Australia for not being vaccinated against COVID-19. Upon his arrival in Melbourne for the Australian Open, he was detained after his vaccination status was questioned, and his visa was cancelled. The Serbian tennis star fought a legal battle but was ultimately unsuccessful and was sent back to his home country.

“I had some health issues, and I realised that in that hotel in Melbourne, I was fed some food that poisoned me,” Djokovic said in an interview with GQ magazine.

“I had a really high level of lead and mercury,” he added, revealing this publicly for the first time.

In 2022, the Australian government had strict COVID-19 rules, prohibiting anyone unvaccinated, regardless of their status, from entering the country.

Djokovic returned to Melbourne the following year and won the tournament. He has won 10 of his 24 Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open.

Despite the controversy, Djokovic holds no ill will toward the Australian people. “A lot of Australians I met, either in Australia or around the world, came up to me and apologised for the way I was treated. They were embarrassed by their government’s actions,” he said.

At the 2025 Australian Open, Djokovic will begin his campaign against Indian-origin American teenager Nishesh Basavareddy. He could face No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals, with a potential semifinal match against No. 2 Alexander Zverev.

Djokovic will also be working with a new coach, former rival and Grand Slam winner Andy Murray.

  • PCB responds to Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen’s concerns over PSL

PCB responds to Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen’s concerns over PSL

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has responded to Multan Sultan owner Ali Tareen, addressing his concerns over the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Pakistan Super League (PSL) chief executive office (CEO) Salman Naseer recently appeared on Samaa Digital’s show Zor Ka Jor and shared his thoughts about the League and its players. He praised Pakistani players, calling them strong and stars in their own right. He mentioned that each team decides which players to pick based on their strategy. Salman also highlighted the format of the League and said many new things will take place this season.

When asked about the concerns raised by Multan Sultans’ owner Ali Tareen, Salman replied, “The PCB is like a parent organization, and disagreements can happen, just like between parents and children. However, this does not mean we should make public accusations. I would refrain from commenting further on that. All PSL franchises are important.”

Salman revealed that 510 players from 19 countries have registered for this season, including 78 from Australia and 76 from the West Indies. He explained, “February has been the ideal time for PSL, but since the Champions Trophy is also scheduled to be played then, we tried to find a suitable time to ensure international players could participate.”

Salman added, “Many players, including David Warner, Tim Southee, Finn Allen, and Daryl Mitchell, will be playing in the PSL for the first time. Some players couldn’t join for personal reasons, but most of the available players are participating.”

Lastly, he praised Lahore Qalandars for their hard work on player development and fan engagement, saying, “It’s exciting to support your team on home ground, making the matches more enjoyable for fans.”

Ali Tareen, the owner of Multan Sultans, has raised several concerns about the PCB in recent interviews. He accused the Board of not fully supporting the PSL, treating it as a burden rather than an asset.

He also criticized the PCB for mishandling player injuries, specifically pointing out a poorly conducted surgery on fast bowler Ihsanullah, which he claims has jeopardized the player’s career. He expressed disappointment over the decision to change the PSL draft venue from Gwadar to Lahore, blaming poor planning and lack of commitment.

The PSL draft was scheduled to be held in Gawadar on January 11, but it has now been shifted to Lahore due to logistical reasons.

The 2025 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is scheduled to take place from April 8 to May 19, 2025.

Why Did Isis Gaston Choose Ice Spice as a Stage Name?

Ice Spice’s name is a play on words. “I’m Isis, but when I was around 14, I came up with the spice part,” she said in an interview. “I was just coming up with a cool name, and I asked myself, ‘What rhymes with ice?’ And then it was spice.”

    Her Education

The 22-year-old rapper attended school in The Bronx, New York, United States. She later enrolled in a Catholic school in Yonkers, Westchester County, New York. Furthermore, Ice Spice was a student at the public art college SUNY Purchase, located in Westchester County, New York, but she eventually quit the course.

    Beginning of Music Career

Ice Spice saw her father struggle and work towards establishing himself in the underground rap scene. She told Rolling Stone, “He always gave out his CDs. I remember being in the car with him for hours, driving to his shows in places like Rhode Island. It was fun and just the two of us.”

She worked with her friend RIOTUSA to produce much of her music. In an interview, she stated, “Music has always been something I loved. Everyone has something they love, and I’m sure they will do something with it.” Her musical influences include Kim, Nicki Minaj, Remy Ma, and Foxy Brown.

She considers her music to be drill music. She said, “Drill has rhythm patterns focusing on high-hats and beats often referred to as 808s. The genre is developing in many directions, and it all began in Chicago with Chief Keef. It’s gaining popularity in the UK and New York. I adore the sound, and the beat is crucial.”

Songs: “Munch,” “Princess Diana,” and “Karma”

In early 2021, Ice Spice gained significant attention on social media for her participation in the “Buss It” challenge. She was among the thousands who danced to the popular song by Texas rapper Erica Banks. During this time, she began working on her debut single, Bully Freestyle. The song came out in March 2021.

But in November of 2021, Ice began to gain popularity due to her release of No Clarity. She describes how her hunched back came about in an interview with The Cut: “Once I cut off the hair and Jordan’s head straight back, and it hit the real me, I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I make a man go up.’” “Me. Let me be me.” So Just don’t change.

She released the single “Name of Love” in April 2022 but failed to understand the hype of her song “Munch” (“Feelin’ You”). This song went wild on TikTok in August and promoted her career launch. In late 2022, Ice signed a record label deal with 10k Projects and Capitol Records. She started the New Year by releasing her “Like…?” EP in January 2023.

Due to these songs, Ice Spice received four Grammy Award nominations in 2024. Karma was nominated for Best Pop Duo Performance, Best Rap Song, Best Song Written for Visual Media, and Best New Artist.

    Ice Spice Net Worth

This daughter of a Dominican father and a mother from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago reportedly earns over $8 million today. Ice Spice net worth has increased significantly due to her songs. She has come a long way and is most popularly known as Ice Spice.

Ice Spice built her early career by filming “Munch” and later made millions. She is brilliant because she negotiated with her manager before signing any contract and earned herself over one million dollars from “Munch” alone. Later, she made a substantive record contract for $3 million or more and gave back some of her earned wealth to her fanbase.

    Is Ice Spice Dating Anyone?

Ice Spice told Rolling Stone that she was single in July 2024 and was dating a singer or rapper. She labeled herself as single after denying her relationship status with her fellow musician with whom she had worked. “Honestly, we’ve been friends since the release of ‘Munch.’ I mean, we’re just twins.” Ice Spice said how the two were no more than friends.

She claimed she had an anonymous partner in the fall of 2023 and was dating someone simultaneously. However, she didn’t want to disclose any of the names. In an interview, Ice Spice explained why she chose not to reveal the name by saying, “I wanted my fans to keep their focus on what I am here for, which is music.”

  • Eight Atomic Energy Commission officials rescued from militants

Eight Atomic Energy Commission officials rescued from militants

Eight out of 17 officials from the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) have been rescued from the custody of militant groups, Dawn reports, citing sources.

Earlier, it was reported that at least 16 private workers of the PAEC, along with their driver, were allegedly kidnapped by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Thursday in the southern Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The local police say that the incident took place on Thursday morning in the area of Qabul Khel, known to have a huge collection of uranium mines operated under the Atomic Energy Commission.

However, a recent report suggests that a senior police official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed that a rescue operation was immediately launched after the partially successful incident. “Eight workers have been recovered so far, including one who was injured,” the official said.

Another official claimed that three workers had been injured and were transferred to the district headquarters hospital.

The kidnapped PAEC workers were on their way to a project site in the Qaboolkhel area of Lakki Marwat when their van was intercepted by armed militants near Wanda Painda Khan.

The kidnappers took the hostages to an unknown location and set the van on fire in a forested area along the Kurram River.

A few hours after the kidnapping, videos allegedly showing the kidnapped employees surfaced online. In these videos, the workers stated that they were in a safe place with the Taliban and appealed to the government to accept the kidnappers’ demands for their release.

However, the BBC reports that they have not been able to verify the videos independently.

The banned militant outfit, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), issued a threat last week to target Pakistan’s military-economic projects.

The situation in Lakki Marwat has been tense for the past year and a half, with repeated attacks on law enforcement officials.

Separately, the police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed three terrorists from the Teepu Gull group, an affiliate of the TTP, during a joint operation in the Malang Adda area of Lakki Marwat on Thursday.

The operation was intelligence-based, and the killed terrorists were reportedly involved in attacks on law enforcement personnel, bombings, and other acts of terrorism.

Qatar Airways rejects fake news claiming closure of airline offices in Pakistan

Qatar Airways issued a press release on January 8 clarifying that the airline has not shut down its offices in Pakistan after YouTuber Imran Riaz and many other accounts falsely claimed that the airline had closed their offices in Pakistan.

A digital news platform, Raftar, took to X (previously Twitter) on January 6 to post: “Qatar Airways has shut down all city offices in Pakistan. Local Call centre operations are also suspended. However flights continue to operate.”

Many Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporting accounts claimed similar false news, expressing disappointment in Pakistan’s political and economic situation. Many PTI-affiliated accounts shared a Siasat.pk news template as well alleging the closure of Qatar Airways offices in Pakistan.

YouTuber Imran Riaz also falsely claimed the same in his recent YouTube video on January 8, saying: “Qatar Airways has shut down their offices in Pakistan, and it seems big companies are leaving Pakistan every day.”

Qatar Airways’ official X account posted a clarification on January 8: “QatarAirways flights to and from #Pakistan are operating as usual, and our offices remain open.  Recent published reports claiming that Qatar Airways has closed offices in Pakistan are incorrect. For assistance, please contact our dedicated customer care line +92 21 38790002.”

Social media user Dr Shama Junejo also took to X to write: “PTI accounts and websites again ran a heinous propaganda of Qatar Airways closing the operation in Pakistan. It is good that @qatarairways has clarified that their flight operations are running as usual, but they must take action against these fake news accounts and websites.”

Another social media user wrote: “PTI’s fake news factory now creating issues even for international airlines. FIA should take action against those who started this fake news.”

The digital platform, Raftar, that initially falsely claimed the news, replied to the Qatar Airways post, writing, “Our story clearly mentions closure of all “city” offices and we stand by our story. Secondly, the helpline has been made operational after our story. Thirdly we never mentioned any disruption of the flights. Best regards.”

Social media users expressed anger over the fake news with one user calling out the digital page Raftar for its post, writing: “Bull**. My family member contacted the Qatar Airways helpline a day before your factually wrong tweet. This city offices thing is also misleading.”

  • Imran Khan’s ouster: Details of infamous cipher revealed

Imran Khan’s ouster: Details of infamous cipher revealed

The eleven points of the cipher, which former prime minister (PM) Imran Khan claimed proves the United States’ (US) involvement in toppling of his government three years ago, have been revealed.

On March 27, 2022, less than a month before the no-confidence vote against Khan, he waved a letter before a huge crowd at a public rally. He claimed it was a cipher from a foreign nation that had conspired with his political rivals to overthrow the government.

He did not reveal the contents of the letter or mentioned the country it came from. However, a few days later, he accused the US of conspiring against him and alleged that Donald Lu had sought his removal.

The News quoted sources as saying that one of the points of the cipher pertained to US State Department official Donald Lu complaining that then-PM Khan openly assailed the US administration and supported the Taliban.

“Pakistan’s ambassador informed Donald Lu about his transfer to Belgium and mentioned that Lu could not arrange a meeting between Pakistan’s prime minister [Imran Khan] and US President Joe Biden. In response, Donald Lu complained that Pakistan’s PM openly criticised the US administration and supported the Taliban,” the report quoted sources as saying.

They further quoted Lu as saying that the same had “damaged relations between the two countries, and reviving these ties would take time.”

“We need to work together to revive relations and normalise ties between the two countries, both now and after the vote of no-confidence,” the source quoted him as saying.

The conversation points were reportedly recorded when Donald Lu attended a farewell lunch at Pakistan’s embassy in Washington. Three US officials and four Pakistani officials sat at the same table, the report said.

According to the report, Pakistan’s ambassador, during said discussion, talked about the relationship between the Pakistani and the US administrations. After the event, the ambassador sent a cipher to the Foreign Office summarising an 11-point discussion with Lu, the source was quoted as saying.

Other points focused on trade and illegal immigration, the report said. For instance, it added, one point mentioned Lu discussing the reasons behind Pakistan’s low rice export volume to the US that year.
