Muhammad Rizwan likely to replace Babar as Captain

National team wicketkeeper-batsman Muhammad Rizwan is likely to be appointed captain in all three formats, replacing Babar Azam as the white-ball captain for the upcoming tour of Australia. Head coach Gary Kirsten reportedly discussed this with board officials and Babar in July, according to Geo.

Babar’s absence from the captaincy role in the Champions ODI Cup suggests he may no longer be the captain of Pakistan’s white-ball team.

If board officials agree on Rizwan, he will lead the team in all three formats.

Babar Azam responds to the question of leaving his captaincy

The national cricket team, especially the captain Babar Azam, is under severe criticism for being out of the mega World Cup event in the first round of the T20 World Cup.

Rumours of leadership change in the national team have become heated once again, but despite their worst defeat, Pakistan captain Babar Azam has no intention of leaving the top seat.

During a press conference in America, a journalist asked him whether Azam would quit being captain.

Azam, while answering the journalist’s question said, “I was given the leadership of the team by the Pakistan cricket board and I have no intention of giving up the captaincy myself.”

“No one could perform as expected. We didn’t play well as a team. Now I can’t go and play for every player. After returning home, I will meet the Chairman PCB and present my report in this regard.”

“If I have to leave the leadership, I will make a decision, but whatever I do, I will do it in front of everyone, I will not do it out of fear,” Azam said.

Azam had resigned from the leadership of all three formats of cricket after the poor performance of the team in the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup last year.

Shaheen Afridi was then, given the captaincy of T20 while Shan Masood was given the captaincy of the Test format. But before the start of the ongoing T20 World Cup, PCB appointed Babar as captain once again.

  • Groups, weak captaincy, Babar should have played under Shaheen: Shahid Afridi

Groups, weak captaincy, Babar should have played under Shaheen: Shahid Afridi

Pakistan cricket team’s former captain Shahid Afridi slammed the national team’s skipper Babar Azam for not supporting Shaheen for captaincy.

Shahid Afridi, talking about the change in the captaincy of the team, said, “If Babar Azam took a stand for his players in the past and plays under the captaincy of Shaheen, then in the eyes of me and the world, Babar Azam’s honor would increase more.”

The former captain said, “Babar Azam should have told the board at that time that if you had made Shaheen the captain, it was a very wrong way to immediately remove him from the captaincy.”

Talking about ‘grouping in the team’ he said, “Due to the weakness of the captain, groups are formed in the team, and this grouping makes any captain weak and due to these issues, the respect of the captain in the team also decreases.”

“The formation of the group is the captain himself, because you blame every failure on the bowlers for not performing well in the match. I have never seen Babar criticising the batsmen. If the captain is strong then there will never be talk of such groupings.”

In December, last year, Babar Azam was removed from the captaincy of the Pakistan team after the poor performance of the Pakistan team in the World Cup hosted by India last year. Shan Masood was then given the Test while Shaheen Shah Afridi was given the captaincy of the T20 team.

The team under the captaincy of Shaheen played a series of five T20 matches against New Zealand in which the national team had to face a defeat of 1-4.

After this defeat, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took the captaincy from Shaheen before the T20 World Cup and appointed Babar Azam as the T20 and ODI captain.

Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad called Babar Azam a “fake king” while commenting on his performance as the head of the team.

During the Geo News program ‘Harna Mana Hai‘ on Wednesday, host Tabish Hashmi showed Ahmed Shahzad his statistics against Babar Azam and asked him for his opinion.

On this, the cricketer said, “Babar Azam is being compared to my eight-year-old stats on social media, while the situation was completely different at that time. We used to get 2.5 to three lakh rupees, but now we get 50 lakh rupees per month. He has every opportunity, but still, he is behind in the world in modern cricket.”

The former opener batsman went on to say, “The strongest captain in Pakistan was held accountable after two to three series but no one held Babar accountable. In five years of captaincy, he could not win a single trophy. Babar ignored domestic cricketers to accommodate his friends and disrupted the system of domestic cricket.”

The 32-year-old added, “I believe I could have improved my stats, but Babar’s stats are worse than mine, but if you are a king, then you are a fake king. You have made people crazy on social media, now you should raise your hands and admit that you are responsible.”

National players, including captain Babar Azam, are under severe criticism for the worst defeat in the first two matches of the T20 World Cup.

“Honestly, I don’t know a lot about him, but I think Iftikhar Ahmed would be good for the father’s role,” Natasha said. “And Shaheen Afridi could play the funny character in the film,” she added.

Actor Nazish Jahangir has had it with Babar Azam fans trolling her, after she said she wouldn’t consider marrying the star cricketer.

A screenshot is circulating on social media in which Nazish Jahangri wrote on her Instagram story, “Jisko meri bat buri lagi ho wo Babar ko apni behn ka rishta de dein lekin meri jan chor dein”.

The actress has confirmed that the screenshot is fake. She shared an Instagram story saying, “This is fake. I did not give any statement or reaction to our adorable trolls because it’s simply not in my upbringing at all. It’s sad how these barbarians show their true colors or defame not just me, but also our Babar Azam.”

“They’re screaming for respect for him, I can only feel pity for them. The trolling, the defamation, the abuse, none of it matters to me at all. I’m only saying this because I don’t want to say any nonsense because there’s a lot of difference between your caliber and mine 🙂 so go on.”

Recently, a fan asked her a question in a Q&A session on her Instagram that if Babar Azam proposed marriage to her, what would be her answer?

She replied that she would refuse.

Babar Azam fans were not happy with her response and relentlessly trolled her, which got so bad that she had to switch her Instagram account from public to private for a few days.

Jahangir also wrote that, “Babar bhai is out brother, but the fans are openly highlighting the negative aspects. I have nothing to do with cricketers, they are all brothers for me, they have fallen behind.”
