    Bushra Bibi files petition for early hearing in Iddat case

    Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has filed a petition for an early hearing in the Iddat case on Tuesday. This is the only case left as a hurdle for the couple to get out of Adiala jail. 

    The former first lady requested the district and sessions court to fix the case for hearing this week as petitions have already been filed.
    The court has set the hearing for June 7 following the plea filed by Bushra Bibi, onw day after the Islamabad High Court accepted District and Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjumand’s request to transfer the iddat case to another court.

    After the judge’s request, the IHC transferred the case to the Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka.

    Islamabad High Court (IHC) has transferred the Iddat case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to a district and session court in Islamabad after approving the request application of Judge Shahrukh Arjumand. 

    Judge Arjumand wrote a letter to the IHC registrar, stating that he is not comfortable announcing the verdict in the Iddat case as Bhusra Bibi’s former husband Khawar Manika had raised concerns.

    The judge also complained in the written letter that Khawar Manek and his lawyers disrupted the hearing multiple times. 

    Now the additional district and session judge, Muhammad Afzal Majuka will hear the Iddat case against the former prime minister and his wife.

    Earlier on May 29, the PTI lawyers attacked Khawar Maneka as he exited the district court premises after attending the hearing in the Iddat case.

    Adiala jail administration has installed room coolers for founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to help them deal with the extreme heat in Rawalpindi.

    Prison sources also confirmed to The News that former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who is incarcerated in Adiala jail in the cypher case, has also been provided with a room cooler.

    The jail administration has started providing additional facilities to inmates, including cold water and beverages, as well as extra water coolers that have also been installed throughout the jail premises.

    The Adiala jail administration affirmed that various measures have been put in place to protect inmates from the heat wave’s impact, as the weather in Islamabad and Rawalpindi is extremely hot.

    An accountability court in Islamabad has instructed former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, to avoid making negative comments about the military and the judiciary. The court also directed the media not to highlight “political or inflammatory” statements made by the couple.

    Judge Rana Nasir Javed barred the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and his wife from speaking against state institutions while he disposed of a petition seeking a fair trial in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

    According to the court order, the former prime minister made a proactive statement against senior officials of state institutions, including the army and judiciary. The statements not only disturbed the court’s decorum but were also an obstacle to providing justice.

    The court directed the prosecution, the accused, and their defence counsel to avoid statements that disrupt the decorum of the court.

    The Islamabad High Court (IHC) turned down Bushra Bibi’s application, where she had requested a transfer from Bani Gala sub-jail to Adiala jail.

    IHC judge Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb heard the petition and showed discontent as the lawyer of the former first lady was late to court. Judge Aurangzeb rejected Bushra’s request, without the lawyer present.


    After the rejection was announced, Bushra’s lawyer Shoaib Shaheen reached court and said that he was late due to the long wait at checkposts.
    After her request to move to jail was denied, Shaheen urged the court to do a medical examination and address her health concerns. Bushra has alleged that she is being ‘slowly poisoned at home.

    Imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan has told the court that his wife, former first lady Bushra Bibi, is being poisoned in Bani Gala sub-jail, Geo reported on Tuesday.

    The PTI founder levelled the allegations during a hearing of a £190 million settlement case in Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail, telling an accountability court judge that Bushra Bibi had marks on her skin and tongue.

    He also requested the court for an investigation into the matter by conducting a medical examination on the former first lady.

    Khan said: “I know who is behind it.”

    He also requested in court that Dr Asim Yunus of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre should medically examine Bushra Bibi.

    At this, the court directed Khan to submit a written application seeking the medical examination of Bushra Bibi.

    “There was something mixed in my honey, and when I came back home after hearing and eating honey, my health worsened.”

    Bushra Bibi also said that if something happens to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, the establishment will be responsible.

    “Life and death are in the hands of Allah,” she said, adding that Imran Khan is physically fit and in good health.

    Bushra Bibi also stated that Khan is in jail for the people of Pakistan, and the masses will not forgive the people in power if something happens to him.

    The PTI founder kept stopping Bushra Bibi from speaking during the hearing yesterday.

    In solidarity with former Prime Minister Imran Khan, PTI leaders Ali Muhammad Khan, Sher Afzal Marwat, Zartaj Gul, and Shandana Gulzar, were wearing masks in today’s session at the lower house.

    Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), joined by independent candidates from PTI, began chanting slogans during the inaugural ceremony.

    The session is being held today under Article 91(2) of the Constitution, with President Arif Alvi refusing to sign an earlier summary for summoning the session on the reported grounds of non-allocation of reserved seats to SIC.

    Accountability court indicts Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi in £190m reference

    An accountability court in Rawalpindi on Tuesday charged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi with involvement in the £190 million reference.

    Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the accountability court conducted the hearing at Adiala Jail, where former Prime Minister Imran is invarcerated in multiple cases, including the Toshakhana, cipher and illegal marriage cases. 

    Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were present when Judge Nasir Javed read the charge sheet.

    National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi, along with his team, was also present in court.

    NAB had started investigating Imran Khan, his wife, and others for allegedly getting hundreds of canals of land under the name of Al Qadir University Trust. As a result of the accusation of land, the government faced a loss of 190 million pounds.

    During PTI government, speculation was rife that Bushra Bibi asked Iman Khan to appoint a person whose name starts with ‘Ain’ as the chief minister of Punjab. After that, the PTI founder chose Usman Buzdar.
