    Drug dealer suspect’s lawyer wants same privileges as Imran Khan

    A lawyer for a man arrested in suspicion of being a drug dealer took Lahore High Court to task for denying his clients the privileges given to former Imran Khan, currently also in jail.

    A bail hearing was scheduled today at the Lahore High Court.

    During the proceedings, the suspect’s lawyer cited legal precedents, including cases involving the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan who is currently incarcerated.

    Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, presiding over the bench, deliberated on the eligibility for bail in such cases. He stated that the accused involved in drug trade deserve punishment without bail, emphasizing the detrimental impact of drugs on society and its influence in educational institutions.

    The lawyer argued under Article 25 of the Constitution, the man deserved the same conveniences given to Imran in legal matters. “My client and the PTI founder should be considered equally under Article 25,” the lawyer asserted.

    Responding to this, Justice Mansoor questioned the relevance of Khan’s cases to the current bail application. The lawyer replied back that despite facing numerous cases, the PTI’s founder had been granted bail in a cipher case by the Supreme Court.

    “Imran Khan was granted bail despite facing over 200 cases, including terrorism charges,” the lawyer elaborated. “In contrast, my client faces only 14 cases and should similarly be eligible for bail.”

    Justice Shah differentiated between the nature of charges against the PTI founder and the suspect, emphasizing the severity of the charges in each case.

    The lawyer countered by highlighting the specific charge against the PTI founder, which carries the death penalty. “There is a cipher case against the PTI founder, a capital offense,” the lawyer pointed out.

    The lawyer also drew attention to the disparity in facilities between the PTI founder and his client while in custody. “The PTI founder enjoys better living conditions in jail, which are not available to my client,” the lawyer argued.

    After considering legal precedents and arguments presented, the three-member bench, headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, approved the bail application of the accused, Obaidullah.

    Five detectives searching for a thief were abducted in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa along with two sniffer dogs.

    According to the police, the abduction occurred in Malazai, a suburb of Tank. The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of 100 million rupees for the release of the hostages.

    DPO Tank Abdul Salam Khalid told Geo News that a person named Noor Ali had hired a private company from Kohat to investigate a petty robbery incident at a house.

    The team, along with two Khoji dogs, were abducted by unknown armed men when they were on their way to Kohat after the investigation.

    Among the hostages, Shoaib Khan, Rafiullah, and Rais Khan belong to Kirk, while Shahid Aziz Bhatti and Majid Ali Okara are residents of Punjab.

    According to the DPO, the investigation team was called without informing the police, who have now started investigating the incident.

    An 18-year-old girl was raped in Gulab Devi Hospital in Lahore, leading to the arrest of one suspect.

    The girl, a resident of Nankana Sahib, was undergoing treatment at the hospital.

    The police arrested the accused and registered a case.

    According to the police, the incident occurred on July 13. The suspect is a student of a laboratory technician.

    The police claims that another accomplice of the accused will also be arrested.

    Twitter wants police to arrest girls who beat up boy in Lahore

    A video of a group of girls beating up a shopkeeper in Lahore has gone viral on the internet. Some netizens claimed that the girls were daughters of an influential lawyer, adding that they had beaten the boy because they thought he was harassing them.

    In the video, the girls appear to have initiated the assault, with the boy at the receiving end of their blows and slaps.

    CCTV footage shows girls standing at the cash counter of a tuck shop holding coffee mugs while a young salesman is sitting at the counter with the cashier. The girls start talking angrily and then barge inside the counter.

    One girl, clad in a black T-shirt, grabs the salesman’s neck and slaps him; the other girls grab the boy’s hair and hit him. An elderly customer forbade the girls, but reportedly, they hurled abuses at him and went to the police station.

    The incident happened on Saturday night in the Garden Town area of Lahore at a petrol pump tuck shop. The boy was then arrested on charges of harassment, as per Geo, on the complaint of one of the girls, Iman Zahra.

    She stated in the complaint that both the salesmen made obscene gestures, and when she complained, salesman Yusuf, along with the cashier, abused them.
    Social media lambasted the girls for their inhumane behaviour.


    Ihtisham ul Haq called the whole act of violence “disgusting”.

    Activist Shama Junejo pointed out that the girls come from an influential background. Lahore Police’s Twitter handle replied to her, “On July 7, the police registered an FIR on a harassment complaint by the girls. Today, based on video evidence, these boys were acquitted. However, if any application is received from these boys, action will be taken according to merit.”


    To this, Shama replied, “When a crime is shown in a video, is it necessary to take action only on the complaint of the victim? Can’t it happen?”


    Netizens criticised Lahore police for this response as Ashir Azeem Gill, an ex-civil servant, actor and activist sarcastically wrote, “Well Done, Lahore police. Tomorrow you’ll say, how can we catch the killer, the deceased hasn’t filed a case.”

    Six cattle were burnt alive in Sargodha as personal grudges were taken to a brutal extent. Police have arrested the main suspect.

    The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Bhagtanwala police station in Sargodha, where influential individuals set fire to a poor farmer’s cattle. The suspects managed to escape.

    As a result of the brutality, six cattle valued at hundreds of thousands of rupees were burnt to death, while more than a dozen others were seriously injured.

    Taking note of the incident, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed DPO Sargodha to take strict action against the suspect. Bhagtanwala police registered a case against the man and initiated an investigation.

    On the micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter), Punjab Police shared photos of the crime scene.

    Reportedly, yesterday, police arrested the main suspect who tried to harm his adversary due to personal enmity. While the main suspect was apprehended, his wife and son have been released on bail prior to arrest.

    A son, aided by his mother and two friends, killed his father to inherit his apartment and pension.

    The father’s body, several days old, was found in the bathroom of an apartment located in Sarjani Town. The victim was beaten to death with a hammer, according to the police. 

    He has since been identified as 43-year-old Syed Shahid Ali, son of Sardar Ali.

    The incident was reported to the police after a stench rose from the flat. During the investigation, the police arrested the deceased’s son, Bilal, daughter-in-law Mahnoor and Bilal’s two friends, Ahmar and Inam, who were involved in the murder of Shahid Ali.

    The victim’s mobile phone, the hammer and the sheet in which the body was wrapped were recovered from the suspect, reports Geo News.

    Shahid Ali divorced his wife 14 years ago, and his son has been living with his mother since then.

    The Punjab Home Department has sent amendments to the anti-rape law to the Cabinet for approval.

    According to the spokesman of the Punjab Home Department, under the new law, forced begging has been declared a non-bailable offence.

    The spokesperson said that those who force children, the elderly and women to beg will be severely punished, while the gang leaders of beggar mafias will face 10 years of imprisonment with a fine of 20 lakh rupees. In case of non-payment of fine, three additional years of punishment will have to be served.

    Similarly, apart from forcing children to beg, those you physically harm minors are also in for a tough time.

    The Home Department noted that previously, there was no law to punish the gang leaders of the beggar mafia.

    Court orders action against nikah khawan for solemnising marriage of a minor girl

    Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered action against a nikah khawan for solemnising the marriage of a minor girl.

    Justice Anwar-ul-Haq Pannu of LHC heard a petition filed by Humaira Bibi.

    The young girl was brought to the court from Dar-ul-Aman. According to the petitioner, the girl is 15-years-old and was forced into marriage.

    Justice Pannu asked the girl if she had married of her own free will, to which she replied in the affirmative.

    The girl also claimed that her age was around 15 or 16.

    Justice Anwar-ul-Haq ordered to file a case against the Nikah Khawan who officiated the marriage of the young girl.

    The court ordered the judicial magistrate to decide on the case.

    Indian politician Prajwal Revanna accused of assaulting 400 women, escapes to Germany

    An Indian politician, who sexually assaulted 400 women and made videos of them, has escaped to Germany. He’s accused of exploiting and making videos of women over many years.

    Parjwal Revana is a member of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s coalition party and the grandson of former Indian Prime Minister HD Devarajegowda, according to Indian media.

    According to media reports, Parjwal allegedly filmed 2,800 videos, of 400 women being raped, 2,000 USB sticks of rape videos were found in parks, buses and trains across the state of Karnataka and the rape videos were leaked by the former driver of Prajwal Revanna. These videos were used by the member of the parliament to blackmail women and gain sexual favours from them.

    While Prajwal has escaped, his father has been arrested on the charge of sexual violence against a maid. The girl who worked at Parjwal’s house complained to the police about the rape and she also accused Prajwal’s father of sexual assault.

    A former Bangalore councilor has also accused Prajwal of raping her several times.

    Indian politician and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that this is not a sex scandal but a serious case of mass rape.

    Modi has campaigned for Prajwal in the elections but in his statement has said, “It is a law and order issue. If such an incident took place in Bengal, then the Bengal government of would be responsible. If it happened in Gujarat, then the Gujarat government is responsible…if it happened in Karnataka, then the Karnataka government is responsible to take action.”

    A 69-year-old woman from Boston, whose apartment was found to have frozen infants in the freezer in 2022, will not be charged.

    A probe into the case started back in 2022 — which was deemed as “one of the most complex, unusual and perplexing” investigations by District Attorney Kevin Hayden.

    It has been said in the statement that it has not been concluded if the four babies were born alive or not, and that is why no criminal charge has been filed against the woman.

    Additionally, the attorney stated that according to the medical examiner, there have been no signs of trauma.

    The father of the babies reportedly died in 2011, while the mother is said to be in a healthcare facility.

    When she was questioned with regards to what was found, she “appeared confused and demonstrated a lack of understanding about where she was and who she was speaking to,” Hayden said.

    The mother is said to have five children and one of them was put up for adoption and had a birth record.

    It is still a mystery as to whether the children were born dead, killed, or did something else happen; and moreover, why the mother did not disclose her pregnancy.
