The Legend of Maula Jatt has become the highest-grossing Punjabi film globally with over PKR 225 crore collections, globally.
Star-actor Shaan Shahid believes that box-office kings Fawad Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi should have worked harder on their Punjabi diction in The Legend Of Maula Jatt.
The Waar hero was recently invited to the show Super Over, where the host of the show asked for his views on Bilal Lashari casting Khan for the role of “Maula Jatt” and not him.
Hosted by Ahmed Ali Butt, Shaan stated that casting depends on the director’s vision, however, Shaan said he feels that Hamza and Fawad didn’t do justice to the Punjabi language and accent. As actors, one must not give excuses that they don’t speak a particular language. If Pakistani actors are cast in an English movie, would they have the same issue? he asked.
In an exclusive interview with The Current, host Uzair Anwer asked him, if a biopic gets made on him, which young actor would he want to essay him in the film? The veteran artist was given four options (Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahad Raza Mir, Bilal Abbas, and Imran Ashraf). The Majajan hero wasn’t too excited about these younger actors playing him in his biopic. He In fact hinted that it should be Shaan himself who should feature in a film based on him.
Shaan stated, “I think if they would have cast Sanjay Dutt in Sanju (2018), it would have been better.”

The actor said that it was difficult for him too in his initial days in the industry as he had come to Pakistan from New York. He told that he had to watch many Punjabi movies to learn the trait.
Shaan, however commended Humaima Malick on her incredible acting in The Legend of Maula Jatt.
Pakistani film actor Meera recently shared her take on superstar Mahira Khan’s craft in The Legend Of Maula Jatt. The veteran artist stated that Khan’s Punjabi in the film was “terrible”, while chatting with Fame Pakistan.
Meera also added that she would have done a better job than the Raees star in the film.
Earlier this year Meera claimed that the showbiz industry suffered a massive financial loss worth billions due to the “Dual Nikah” case against her.
The Baaji actor, who is known for heaps of scandals delivered the statement during the hearing of the dual Nikah case at a local court in Lahore today.
A local court conducted the hearing of the dual nikkah case against the Lollywood actor on Wednesday. The Inteha star appeared along with her counsel in the hearing.
During the hearing, Meera broke into tears before the judge after approaching the rostrum.
The actor told the judge that she was seeking justice for 10 years and was properly heard at the US court but justice was not delivered in Pakistan’s court.
According to a report, after the Nazar actor started shouting in the courtroom, the judge Rai Ahmed Khan asked her to lower her voice otherwise get back to her seat.
Later, the sessions court adjourned the hearing till October five and ordered the lawyers for arguments on the amended evidence in the case.
While talking to the media, Meera said that a film’s shooting was being termed as her real Nikah. She claimed that the showbiz industry suffered a massive financial loss worth billion due to the case against her.
It is pertinent to mention here that her alleged husband Atiq-ur-Rehman had accused Meera of entering into a Nikah with another person named Naveed when she was already married to him. This he said was a crime, as per law.
Model-actor Iman Ali is known for being candid and blunt in her interviews. She often expresses her opinions without filtering them in interviews, which lands her in hot water.
Iman received severe backlash in 2020 when her tongue-in-cheek remarks about industry Pakistani superstars like Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed.
Iman released all her inhibitions and swung at every question with casual humour, giving usual rapid fire rounds a run for their money. She even said Humayun Saeed may as well have been a doodh/dahi bechnay wala (milk seller) with his typically Punjabi looks.
When asked about the country’s favourite superstar at the moment, Mahira Khan, Iman had no second guesses. “She should’ve stayed a VJ. She was really good at that and I really liked her at that,” said Iman, chuckling at her own answer.
Iman also made another revelation – she was offered Raees alongside Shah Rukh Khan before Mahira landed the coveted role. “The people who approached me told me it’s a role opposite Shah Rukh, so I asked them to send me the script. I guess they didn’t really like that,” said Iman.
When asked about Fawad Khan, Iman said, “He used to make really stupid jokes on set (they were co-stars in their debut film Khuda Kay Liye) so maybe a failed stand-up comedian.”
During a recent interview with DIVAonline, the Bol star clarified that she was in no way insulting or being insensitive toward Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan when she said that Mahira should’ve stuck to being a VJ and Fawad would’ve been a failed comedian.
According to the Khuda Kay Liye diva, her statement was spread in the wrong light from a throwback video. Now, Iman said that she was only answering the question ‘What career would they have pursued had they not been actors’.
On the work front, Iman is all set to grace the big screen with the upcoming film Tich Button co-starring Farhan Saeed, Feroze Khan, and Sonya Hussyn.
Actor Sonam Bajwa is currently ruling the Indian Punjabi film industry and recently even created waves in Bollywood with a stellar song.
The talented artist has often expressed her fondness for Pakistani artists like Sajal Aly and dramas like Mere Paas Tum Ho, and once again she has shared overwhelming admiration for Pakistani superstar Fawad Khan. She even termed the Zindagi Gulzar Hai star as her crush.
The Guddiyan Patole star said, “I have a huge crush on Fawad Khan, I would have asked him for dating but since he’s married, so, I won’t do that, I don’t keep eye on married people”.
Last year in an interview with BBC Asian Network’s Haroon Rashid, the Carry On Jatta 2 actress said, ” I am the biggest, biggest fan of Sajal Aly, she is phenomenal and I feel so happy sharing that I’ve learned so much from her, she’s extraordinary and I think you’d agree.
She’s the best actress and the finest actress of our times and I really look up to her”.
Actor Hania Aamir, who is currently riding high on the success of her latest blockbuster drama, Mere Hamsafar, has opened up on comparisons of her and co-star Farhan Saeed’s pairing with Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan’s chemistry from Humsafar.
Mahira and Fawad’s pairing as Khirad and Ashar from Sarmad Khoosat’s Humsafar has been hailed as the best on Pakistani television in the last two decades. The two will be seen together in two major feature films this year, Neelofar and The Legend Of Maula Jatt.
During another interview with Something Haute, the Sang e Mah diva stated that she was a person who never put herself first, and let the backlash on social media and controversies get the best of her.
The Titli star said “when new actors enter the industry, they are not really trained for fame or how to handle it, and so people learn via trial and error.”
Hania advised the viewers not to put their relationships on media because if things do not work out, it is nearly impossible to clarify about what went wrong. She said even people from the industry start weighing in on your life.
Actress Sadia Faisal reacted to Aamir’s post by saying that celebrities these days even post about when they’re using the loo.
Earlier this year after Hania’s dancing video from Asim Azhar’s concert went viral, the Jo Tu Na Mila singer made an indirect jibe at Hania with a cryptic post.
Blockbuster Lollywood film Muala Jatt starring Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Qureshi is a cult Punjabi language action-musical film directed by Younis Malik and produced by Sarwar Bhatti.
This movie belongs to a genre which represents the rural culture of Pakistani central Punjab. Its success set the trend of action films being popular in Pakistan and cemented Sultan Rahi as Lollywood’s leading hero.
Maula Jatt met with a ban not long after its release from the establishment of the time due to its violent content. However, the producer was able to acquire a stay order. The stay order not only gave the film a 2-and-a-half-year run time in cinemas but also helped the film make history as the first Punjabi film to have done so.
Now its official remake is releasing across the country on October 13th starring the biggest superstars of the country such as Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Humaima Malick among others.
The film, which was initially announced in 2011, has seen many hurdles along the way. Be it the prolonged legal battle or a pandemic, The Legend of Maula Jatt kept getting delayed for one reason or the other. Now, fans and critics are hopeful that the film will finally see the light of the day and will release on the recently announced date, October 13 of this year.
However not many know that Indian film industry a.k.a Bollywood also remade this cult classic in the 1980s. The Hindi film is Jeene Nahi Doonga, a 1984 Bollywood action film directed by Rajkumar Kohli and starring Raj Babbar, Dharmendra, Anita Raj. The movie is an unofficial remake of Maula Jatt. Dharmendra and Shatrughan Sinha’s characters are based on Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Qureshi’s most famous characters Maula Jatt and Noori Natt.
Although its not a scene by scene replica but bears striking similarity in terms of plot, depiction and treatment.
Indian filmmaker and actor Anurag Kashyap recently took to his Twitter handle to laud Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi starrer, The Legend of Maula Jatt‘s trailer. “Finally the film I’ve loved so much and the film you really want to see, the trailer is out!” the Gangs of Wasseypur director tweeted along with the link to the trailer on YouTube.
A video of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is resurfacing on social media in which he admits to having regretted passing on Pakistani superstar Fawad Khan’s role in Kapoor & Sons.

Earlier in another interview, Said revealed that, “I’m not a petty guy with a narrow-minded mentality. I’m very liberal in my views and can look beyond things. It’d be amazing to have a gay character as one of the roles in my portfolio and I look forward to playing one. It’s got nothing to do with being perceived as an alpha male, like your article argued, as I don’t think I have a particularly macho image. At the time when Kapoor and Sons was offered to me, I didn’t feel it was the right project for me to get into.”
“It’s very sad if people have perceived my rejection of Kapoor and Sons as something to do with homosexuality, something that I wholeheartedly support. Everyone makes mistakes, but when Karan (Johar, film producer) and Shakun (Batra, film director) came to me, I just didn’t feel like doing the film… just like when Sajid Khan came to me, I had felt like doing Humshakals, which now I know was horrible. Shit happens.”
When Shakun Batra’s Kapoor And Sons was released back in 2016, no one had thought that the film would be what it is. It is probably one of the most realistic yet entertaining family films that, instead of painting a rosy picture, gives us a glimpse of what really goes on in a family. The way the vulnerabilities, flaws, and shortcomings of each character were portrayed has been lauded for years and it made us empathize with the family. Fawad Khan was unanimously praised for his acting in the film. His portrayal of a closet man was spot on. However, the role was rejected by multiple A-list actors before it fell in Fawad’s lap.
Popular film critic Rajeev Masand wrote in a leading daily, “As many as half a dozen actors are believed to have turned down the role of the elder brother in Shakun Batra’s hit Kapoor & Sons, before the makers approached Fawad Khan. Saif Ali Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor were all approached. While some explicitly admitted that they didn’t want to play a character that happens to be gay, others reportedly cited different excuses.”
Rajeev also sighted that Farhan was the only one who gave declined in the most professional way. “Farhan, whom Shakun had assisted previously, said he loved the film but didn’t see himself playing the older sibling. Of the lot, the makers say he was the most professional and upfront about his reservations.”
A video of Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor is resurfacing on social media, from her last appearance on Koffee With Karan.
In the video, the Neerja star is asked by the host Karan Johar that with whom she shares the best chemistry?, Sonam’s brother Harshvardhan Kapoor jumped in and took Fawad Khan’s name. The Delhi 6 star stated that she thinks the same and she loved her chemistry with Fawad. She concluded on a humorous note by saying that Karan sent him back to Pakistan.
Her statement left Karan shocked but he let it pass.
Kapoor worked with Khan in Disney’s Khoobsurat. The film gave Fawad his first break in Bollywood, for which he even received a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.

Sonam grabbed headlines earlier this year for her pregnancy and the unfortunate robbery at her Delhi residence did not take place in just a day, rather, the thieves gradually stole precious items over a span of 10-11 months.
“The jewelry and cash were stolen in a span of 10-11 months, as and when the accused nurse got a chance,” a Delhi Police official told IANS.
A complaint was lodged two months back, on February 23, regarding a theft at the residence of Harish Ahuja at Amrita Shergil Marg in Delhi. Notably, Harish Ahuja is the father-in-law of Sonam Kapoor.
The Saawariya star’s father Anil Kapoor thanked Delhi Police on twitter for their successful investigation.
Actress Ratna Pathak Shah ofKapoor & Sons fame has landed in hot water after her recent comments on a Hindu festival. This trolling is owing to the actress’ recent statements about India moving towards becoming an ‘extremely conservative society’ and slamming the concept of ‘Karwa Chauth’.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvbWy3x3Xcw&t=2s
During a recent chat with an entertainment portal, the Golmaal 3 star spoke about how women in the 21st century, are still observing age-old traditions like Karwa Chauth – a Hindu ritual in which the wife prays for her husband’s long life by fasting.
While she revealed it was for the first time last year she was asked if would fast for her husband, Ratna also said that India is becoming ‘a conservative society’ and the first thing it does ‘is clamp down on its women’ – just like they have done in a country like Saudi Arabia.
Netizens aren’t happy with Ratna Pathak Shah’s comments and have taken to social media to slam her for both dissing women keeping the Karwa Chauth fast and calling Saudi Arabia a conservative society while making comparisons.
Ratna said that she was asked for the first time last year if she would fast for her husband, actor Naseeruddin Shah.
“Nothing has changed for women or very little has changed in very crucial areas. Our society is becoming extremely conservative. We’re becoming superstitious, we’re being forced into accepting and making religion a very important part of one’s life. Someone asked me for the first time last year if I’m observing Karwa Chauth. I said, ‘Am I mad?’ Isn’t it appalling that modern educated women fast to pray for the long lives of husbands?”
She continued, “We are moving towards an extremely conservative society. The first thing a conservative society does is clamp down on its women. Look at all the conservative societies in this world. Women are the ones who are most affected. What’s the scope of women in Saudi Arabia? Do we want to become like Saudi Arabia? And we will become because it’s very very convenient. Women provide a lot of unpaid labour within the home. If you have to pay for that labour, who will do it? Women are forced into that situation.”
