    Modi claims to have stopped war in Gaza during Ramzan

    Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently appeared in an interview with a group of journalists and claimed that he played an instrumental role in stopping the war in Gaza for the month of Ramzan.


    In a video clip that surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), shared by ALT News journalist Muhammad Zubair Modi asserted that in the holy month of Ramzan, he sent a special envoy to Israel in order to convince the Israeli Prime Minister to at least stop the war in Gaza for the month. “Kam se kam Ramzan mein Gaza mein bambari na karein,” Modi stressed. He also stated that the Israeli Premier tried to follow his advice but he did make the effort.


    Modi went ahead to point out that, “Here you guys accuse me of politics against the Muslims but, Modi attempted to stop the bombardment in Gaza. Now I don’t want publicity for this.”

    The claim is being taken with a large pinch of salt by social media users.

    Grammy Award winner Ed Sheeran will be the next guest on The Great Indian Kapil Show. On Wednesday, Netflix shared a new teaser for the upcoming episode, showing host Kapil Sharma having a great time with Ed Sheeran, the singer of ‘Bad Habits.’

    Ed Sheeran embraced Indian culture by singing a Punjabi song about local food. He also talkes about meeting Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan at his house. Ed even delivers a famous line from Shah Rukh Khan’s movie, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,’ impressing everyone with his Hindi.


    Wearing black, the ‘Shape of You’ singer looked stylish in the teaser, which promises a fun-filled episode. Kapil Sharma joked, “You are younger than me in age, but I am younger than you in English,” making the audience laugh.


    Ed Sheeran was recently in Mumbai for a tour. During his visit, he went to Shah Rukh Khan’s house. Gauri Khan posted pictures with Ed, saying, “What a pleasure listening to you sing! Thank you for spending the evening with us…”

    Lahore High Court makes electric bikes scheme conditional with environmental NOC

    Lahore High Court (LHC) has made the scheme of distribution of electric bikes among students conditional to obtaining an environmental NOC, reports Geo News.

    Justice Shahid Karim said during a heating of a case against smog and environmental pollution that the distribution scheme of motorcycles will be subject to environmental NOC.

    The High Court said that not getting environmental NOC before the project is a criminal offence because the problem of environmental pollution is serious and cannot be ignored.

    The court has extended the suspension of the lottery for the distribution of electric bikes among the students.

    The court has ordered all parks in the city to be fully restored and secured, saying that fines should be imposed to restore and secure the parks.

    Apart from this, the court has also ordered to allocate another place for buying and selling birds.

    The court ordered the restoration of the LDA K7 sports complex and also directed to reduce the fees of LDA clubs.

    The court expressed displeasure over the cutting of trees and destruction of a rose garden in a private housing society and ordered the LDA to submit a report on the cutting of trees.

    The court sought a detailed report from the Punjab government by May 27.

    Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon recently stated during a press conference that the founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan is still a “laadla” (favourite) due to rapid speed of multiple case hearings.

    “I’m saying this very openly that there is a big plan behind the scenes,” said the PPP member.

    Memon also alleged that “Israel financially supported Khan in his election campaign and Israel is also campaigning about alleged human rights abuse in Pakistan.”

    The PPP member was of the view that in the past President Asif Ali Zardari’s cases did not get quick hearings as Khan’s do.

    He criticised the former Prime Minister for being a “small-minded person” and also stated that CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur should apologise for his wrong attitude with the Governor of KP.

    NAB chairman apologises to victims for Bureau’s past wrongdoings

    In a welcome turn of events, present National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Lt Gen (R) Nazir Butt has started approarching those who were victimised by the watchdog to apologise for the past misdeeds of widely criticised anti-corruption institution of Pakistan.

    The NAB chairman decided to sooth the pain of the victims by meeting them personally to apologise for how the top anti-corruption body maltreated them in the past. Multiple politicians, bureaucrats, and businessmen are on the list of NAB victims.

    Nazir Butt visited family members of the NAB victim who died a few years ago due to the torment of the institution’s officials.

    NAB’s new policy is completely different from what it was doing with multiple individuals a few years ago, The News reported on Friday.

    NAB is known for what is perceived as misuse of its power. The top anti-corruption body harassed multiple individuals, including politicians, bureaucrats, and businessmen, by keeping them behind bars for several years without any solid evidence.

    Several individuals lost their lives under NAB’s harassment.

    A few years ago, a NAB victim, Brigadier Asad Munir was found dead in his home in Islamabad. A handwritten note was discovered near his body. The note read, “I request you, the honourable chief justice, to take notice of NAB’s officials conduct so that other government officials are not convicted for the crimes they have not committed.”

    Famous actress Yumna Zaidi appeared at the ZAB Media Festival where she talked about her popular drama series ‘Tere Bin’.


    During the Q&A session at the event, a journalist asked Yumna about defending critiques of her portrayal of a rude girl in ‘Tere Bin’.


    Yumna responded confidently. “I feel that ‘Tere Bin’ is the most-watched drama of the Pakistan entertainment industry, so I do not need to defend it or my character. If the drama had a name but people were not watching it, then I would promote it. So, the answer is based on the viewership and viewers.”


    ‘Tere Bin’, now returning for a second season, after transcending geographical borders and was deemed the most watched Pakistani drama in India as well. Its popularity stemmed from audiences captivated by the story of Meerab, an ambitious woman, whose life is transformed after marrying the dominating Murtasim, played by Wahaj Ali.

    Electric buses to be introduced in Lahore by year end

    Punjab Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Bilal Akbar has announced that electric buses will be out on Lahore’s roads by this year’s end, reports Dawn.


    “At least 27 electric buses will begin running on the Lahore roads by the months of November or December this year as a part of efforts to reduce carbon footprint in the city,” the minister told the Punjab Assembly session on Thursday.


    He also confirmed that hybrid buses will be introduced in other regions of the province too so that local commuters could benefit from them.


    Akbar said, while responding to a query by a fellow MPA, that over 200 feeder service buses in the provincial capital were being offered subsidies and around one million commuters were benefiting from the mass transit service on a daily basis.

    Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said on Thursday that he and his wife declared their properties a decade ago. Naqvi, a media baron who became Punjab’s caretaker Chief Minister and now also holds the coveted position of Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), stressed that there is nothing new in the “Dubai unlocked” project. 

    Naqvi revealed that his wife not only owns properties in Dubai but also in the United Kingdom (UK).

    He gave a detailed response to the Dubai leaks in a press conference in Lahore after the leaked property records named several prominent personalities in Pakistan, including government officials, politicians, military generals, and other individuals.

    He also said that it is necessary for the national media to report about major developments, but portraying that someone owned property with illegal means is wrong.
    The former caretaker chief minister of Punjab also stated that he was not in any official position 10 to 12 years ago, but he had properties at that time as well.

    Supreme Court to hear Suo Moto against Faisal Vawda today

    The Supreme Court, on 17 May, will hear the suo moto case against independent Senator Faisal Vawda for his verbal attack against judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

    The case will be heard by a three-member bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa and comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Irfan Saadat Khan.

    Earlier, Vawda held a press conference in which he strongly criticised the IHC judges who penned the explosive letter a few weeks back to the Supreme Judicial Council alleging interference of intelligence agencies in judicial affairs.

    Faisal Vawda said that institutions are being attacked.

    “Stop targeting the institutions, enough is enough. If there is any interference by institutions, then provide evidence and we will stand together [against it],” said Vawda.

    IHC also responded to the Senator’s remarks saying that the rules do not dictate that a High Court judge needs to renounce foreign residency or citizenship.
