    Punjab govt may refer Imran Khan’s cases to military court if necessary: Law Minister

    Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar has said that, if necessary, the Punjab government may decide to refer former Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s cases to a military court.

    Speaking to journalists at the Presidency, Tarar said, “The prosecution of May 9 cases is being done by the Punjab government and the provincial government will decide to refer the case to a military court.”

    Responding to a journalist’s question regarding the constitutional amendment in parliament, he said that no amendment is under consideration. “Media should avoid speculations and show responsibility.”

    He hinted that the upcoming joint sitting would consider a dozen bills that had been approved by the House of Parliament but not passed by the Senate.

    Commenting on Chief Justice Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa’s retirement, he said, “It is not for me to decide whether the term of chief justice will be extended or not.”

    FIA arrests two suspects over offensive posts about Maryam Nawaz

    Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime circle has arrested Murtaza Khan and Ahmed Hassan over objectionable remarks against Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Samaa has reported.

    The FIA spokesperson claimed that the two suspects were included in a team that edited and shared derogatory posts about Maryam Nawaz and other senior officials on social media.


    The suspects have been charged under the Prevention of Electronic Crime Act (PECA).
    FIA stated that no one is beyond the law, and strict action will be taken against the suspects.

    In 2016, the then PML-N led government introduced the PECA law to “check extremist content, prosecute hate speech and curb online harassment of women.”

    The law has been criticised over the years as an instrument of stuffing free speech.

    Torrential rains in Balochistan damage gas pipeline, kill 29

    Torrential rains are wreaking havoc across Balochistan, with at least 29 people killed and 15 injured in the province, ARY News reported, quoting the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

    The monsoon season, which started on July 1, has caused widespread damage to infrastructure and crops in Balochistan, says a PDMA report.

    Rainfall has caused damage to several houses, with 858 completely destroyed and 13896 partially damaged.

    In addition to the loss of life and property, the rains have also caused significant damage to 58799 acres of crops and 41 kilometres of roads.

    The PDMA report also stated that seven bridges have been damaged, while 373 animals have died due to the heavy rains.

    A gas pipeline also washed away due to flood in Mutch area of Balochistan after which gas supply was suspended in many areas including Quetta.

    An 18-inch gas pipeline in Mach has been affected by the flood, informed the spokesperson of Sui Southern Gas.

    The supply of gas to various areas including Quetta, Mastung, Kalat, Pishin and Ziarat has been suspended due to the gas pipeline being affected, reports Geo News.

    The spokesman said that the repair of the affected gas pipeline will be started after security clearance.

    Pakistan rejects talks with TTP, says Foreign Office

    Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has said that Pakistan has rejected any suggestion to negotiate with the terrorist organisation Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

    In the FO’s weekly media briefing, Baloch said, “As i said in the past, Pakistan has no plans to engage in any talks with TTP. We believe that such offers are an affront to thousands of victims of TTP, who have been killed in Pakistan.”

    She added, “Pakistan advises Afghan authorities to take action against TTP and other terror groups that continue to threaten Pakistan’s security and who have been involved in the killing of Pakistani nationals in Pakistani territory.”

    She pointed out that Islamabad has strong evidence of Afghanistan soil being used for terrorist activities in Pakistan and expected that the Afghan government will take action against terror groups.

    Regarding India’s participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Pakistan, Baloch remarked, “I can confirm that invitations have been extended to all Heads of Government of SCO member countries, including the prime minister of India.”

    Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Allama Raghib Hussain Naeemi has revealed that Chief Justice Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa received 400 threatening messages from a religious party over the Mubarak Sani case verdict, The News has reported.

    Naeemi said that there is no concept of lynching in the law, and there are four different punishments for different blasphemy laws.

    He explained that according to section (295-C), death penalty for blasphemy of the Holy Prophet (SAW), life imprisonment for the desecration of the Holy Quran (295-B), three-year imprisonment for violation of the Imtana-e-Qadianiat Ordinance and seven-year imprisonment in case of insulting Sahabah-e-Karaam RA (298-A).

    He added that people needed more time to be ready to listen to another view on religious matters.

    Earlier, the Apex court ‘corrected’ its retrospective verdict mistake by expunging the paragraph that gave permission to the Ahmadiya community to preach their beliefs.

    The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has allegedly said that former spymaster General Faiz Hameed was removed as the head of the Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) in 2021 on the demand of former Pakistan Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif.

    Speaking to journalists at Adiala jail, Khan said, “After America withdrew from Afghanistan in August, the PTI-led government started negotiations with the Afghan Taliban in September to terminate Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The Afghan government was ready to cooperate with the government, and General Faiz also briefed the Opposition. But now the incumbent government is blaming PTI of terrorism.”

    He added, “In the PTI-led government, Intelligence agencies were busy stopping the terrorists, but now they are after the PTI leadership, which is increasing hate.”

    He remarked, “As soon as the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa retires, four constituencies will open, which will force the incumbent government to fall.”

    Responding to the PTI rally scheduled for September 8, he stated, “The rally will take place in Islamabad on September 8, and the whole nation must join it.”

    Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has stated that citizens must follow the rules of the country they visit, following the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ex-Member of National Assembly (MNA) Faheem Khan in Saudi Arabia.

    When a journalist asked whether Saudi Arabia had released Khan, she responded, “You are a journalist; confirm his arrest or release.”

    Earlier, PTI revealed that Saudi Arabia had arrested their former MNA. PTI Karachi alleged that the Pakistani incumbent government was involved in his arrest.

    Some claims suggest that Khan was filming a video near the Holy Kaaba on May 9, which may have led to his arrest.

    Sindh PTI President Haleem Adil Sheikh said the party is constantly in contact with Khan’s family in efforts to secure his release.

    Captain Muhammad Safdar Awan has urged former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif to hold former Chief Justice Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, and Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan accountable for the unlawful verdict in the Panama case, he said in a gathering with locals.

    He said, “If Nawaz Sharif doesn’t hold Panama judges accountable, the public will never forgive him.”

    He added, “The public wants Panama bench judges in handcuffs along with former CJP Saqib Nisar.”
    He requested his father-in-law to arrest former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and charge five Panama judges with impunity.

    He further said, “Pakistan would have become an Asian tiger if Panama judges did not remove Nawaz.”

    Earlier, the apex court of Pakistan declared former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif guilty in the Panama case verdict and sentenced ten years imprisonment with a 10.6 million dollar fine.

    The University received numerous emails concerning Khan’s past support for the Taliban and Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden (OBL), given his current incarceration.

    Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), says he wants to ‘give back’ to his alma mater, where he studied fifty years ago.

    The university’s incumbent chancellor will retire this year, and Imran Khan is motivated to replace him while currently in prison and facing multiple cases.

    According to Oxford University’s criteria, any graduate of the university can contest in the Chancellor election, and the voting process will occur online.
