The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) approved the appointment of two ad-hoc judges on Friday to the Supreme Court for a period of one year, Geo News has reported.
Justice (retd) Tariq Masood and Justice (retd) Mazhar Alam Miankhel, both retired justices of the apex court, were selected after the JCP meeting headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa held on Friday to discuss the appointment of retired judges to the apex court in a bid to reduce pendency of the cases.
Justice (retd) Mushir Alam, Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar and Justice (retd) Miankhel had declined offers to be appointed ad-hoc judges.
Sources have told Geo that Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Muneeb Akhtar and Justice Yahya Afridi opposed the appointment of Justice (retd) Miankhel as the former judge had already declined the offer.
However, his appointment was approved by a 6:3 majority and now it is up to the former judge that he accepts the offer or maintains previous his stance, they added.
Meanwhile, Justice (retd) Masood’s appointment was approved by 8:1 majority, with Justice Akhtar in opposition.

As the news spread, Ayesha’s eldest daughter, Zoha Touqeer, posted on her Instagram story that “no charges were pressed for the betterment of kids”. She denied any reconciliation attempt and informed that Khula has been filed because violence is unacceptable.
Ayesha reposted the story and wrote a detailed caption on her wall regarding her recovery. “Victim blaming is the easiest possible solution to any situation but delving into the pain every single day not being able to look at yourself everyday is a reality” she wrote.
Previously, Ayesha had told The Current that her husband is using his influence in the police and judiciary to pressure her.
On July 10, Ayesha Jahanzeb’s husband was arrested on charges of assault.
Ayesha registered a case against her husband in which she accused him of perpetrating domestic violence upon her. She stated in the FIR that since January this year, her husband, whom she married in 2015, had started beating her and their children, but she did not raise noise for the sake of maintaining the sanctity of their relationship. Haris is always suspicious and has beaten her many times since the first incident, she said in her statement.
He also beat her on the June 24 last month, “dragging her by her hair and beating her with kicks and punches’, causing injuries, according to the FIR.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notices to 12 political parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami and Awami National Party, for failing to allocate five per cent of general seat tickets to women in the general elections.

“One night, I went outside and saw the sky, clouds, and mountains under the dim moonlight, and I felt a strange sensation. There were a few empty rooms, and suddenly the light in one of those rooms started flickering on and off, and then the same happened in another room,” the heartthrob narrated.
He then told the host about a similar incident during shooting in Chitral.
Fawad said, “I was in a bathroom with a tin ceiling. I felt as if something was on the ceiling, possibly an animal, but I couldn’t be sure. It was breathing very deeply.”
