Mahira Khan backs Fawad Khan’s Aabeer Gulaal, urges Pakistani release

Pakistani superstar Mahira Khan has thrown her full support behind Aabeer Gulaal, the much-anticipated Bollywood romantic-drama starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, which has released worldwide, except in Pakistan and India.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Mahira reposted a post calling for the film’s release in Pakistan and added her own fiery endorsement, “Exactly! He is our star! Our cinemas will benefit from releasing the film too.”

Her comment comes as fans across the globe flock to theaters, while audiences in Pakistan remain deprived due to a lack of clearance from the government.

The film, originally scheduled for a May 9 release, was delayed and ultimately banned from release in India. It finally saw the light of day on September 12, enjoying a warm reception internationally, but continues to face a roadblock in Pakistan due to the absence of a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

The film is yet to be cleared for release in Pakistan because of its Indian Origin. However, Aabeer Gulaal has entirely been shot in London and one of its producers – among its three – is a Pakistani living abroad.

Meanwhile, Aabeer Gulaal is drawing critical acclaim wherever it has been released. A glowing review by a major Indian news outlet, shared on the film’s official Instagram, praised Fawad’s magnetic performance. “Fawad Khan, as always, gives a delightful performance. His looks and smile ensure the battle is half won, while his subtle and impactful act takes care of the rest.”

The surprise package, however, appears to be Vaani Kapoor, whose performance is being hailed as her career-best. “This is her best performance by miles and viewers will be astonished to see her delivering like a seasoned performer.”

In a recent interview, Fawad said cinema was begging for such a film because everything is now very intense, dark or dramatic – a thriller or too much of blood and gore. “This is more like a palate cleanser. The best foods are the ones with the simplest ingredients where you can taste everything individually. And that only happens when there’s no complication in it. So, this is that kind of a meal.”

On the film’s rocky road to release, the superstar candidly admitted, “I was very worried. There was a lot of pressure around the film’s release. But my belief in the story and its message helped me push forward.”

As Aabeer Gulaal wins hearts across the globe, the only question remains when will it get the green light to do the same in Pakistan.

Sonya Hussyn slams Rishta Aunty for shaming ‘chubby girls’

Pakistani actress Sonya Hussyn has taken a strong stand against TV personality and rishta maker Mrs. Khan, condemning her for making offensive remarks about women’s body sizes. Mrs. Khan had recently stated that “being chubby means you’ll be rejected,” a comment that has sparked backlash on social media for promoting harmful beauty standards.

Taking to Instagram, the Aangan star sharing Mrs. Khan’s controversial statement, firmly addressed the issue. “Dear Ma’am, with all due respect, it’s 2025 and time to wake up!!!” Sonya said. “Statements like ‘being chubby means you’ll be rejected’ are not just offensive and outdated, they’re harmful.”

The actress didn’t hold back, stating that such statements destroy self-esteem. “Confidence aese remarks sy shatter hota hai. Kiyun k in baton ny ek typical mindset create kar k false beauty standards ko normalize kar diya hai or insecurities paida kar di hain.” [Confidence gets shattered by such remarks. Because these statements have created a typical mindset that normalises false beauty standards and have given rise to insecurities.]

Sonya further emphasised that imposing outdated thinking on today’s generation is damaging and irrelevant. “These mindsets no longer serve the world we’re trying to build,” she said. “This generation must lead with better values like confidence, good character, career, professional achievements, self-growth and strong family values — regardless of gender!”

Calling for a shift in societal attitudes, she urged people to stop reducing women’s worth to their physical appearance. “Can we please now stop this shaming culture and shrinking women by tying their worth to their size,” she said, “and rather start supporting real well-being — both mental and physical.”

The actress also criticised the obsession with marriage, saying, “Sirf shadi kar lena maqsad nahi hona chahiye.” (Getting married shouldn’t be the only goal.)

She stressed the importance of personal growth, mental well-being, and emotional intelligence in building healthy relationships. “Our goal is to become fulfilled, self-aware individuals who can be strong, happy, and emotionally healthy partners too — rather than repeating the cycle of toxic, unhappy marriages we’ve seen for generations.”

Earlier, actor and TV host Javeria Saud had publicly condemned Mrs. Khan’s comments. Javeria Saud questioned why women are still judged for being “moti ya kaali” (fat or dark) in today’s world, calling it pure ignorance.

‘Fitay moun’: Celebs slam egg attack on Chahat Fateh in London

A shocking video showing social media personality Chahat Fateh Ali Khan being egged by unidentified individuals in London has sparked outrage across social media and among Pakistani celebrities. The clip, which dates back three months, surfaced online recently, showing two eggs being smashed on Chahat’s head while he was posing with a fan outside a newly opened food outlet.

In the now-viral video, Chahat appears in a cheerful mood, taking pictures with fans, when suddenly two individuals run up to him, smash eggs on his head, and flee the scene. Their faces remain hidden. The people present at the scene, some of whom were recording the interaction, appear shocked by the incident.

While the exact date of the incident is unconfirmed, a London-based journalist claims the video was captured during a photo session at a new food outlet, approximately three months ago.

Several Pakistani celebrities have taken to social media to condemn the disgraceful act, calling it “ghatya harkat” and demanding accountability.

Actor and writer Yasir Hussain posted on his Instagram story, saying: “Main in k songs nahi sunta. Magar yeh kaafi ghatya harkat hai. Is manchalay ko saza milni chahiye” (I don’t listen to his songs, but this is a disgusting act. The person responsible must be punished).

TV host and comedian Ahmed Ali Butt also expressed his frustration, stating: “Just saw the disgusting video of egg thrown on Chahat! There is no decency left in people. Like him or not, he never disrespected anyone. Sadly, we live in a dead society where anything and everything goes for views and likes. Sad!”

Singer Asim Azhar took it a step further by apologising directly to Chahat via his Instagram story: “Nobody deserves this. You are an entertainer, you make people smile, laugh, and you do not deserve this at all.”

He further slammed the perpetrators, saying: “I am sorry that jaahil (illiterate) individuals like these are on the loose and have the audacity to do sh*t like this. Please keep making everyone smile. We don’t have enough people doing it.”

“And for these two ill-mannered, disgusting individuals — fitay moun aap ki parwarish aur aap pe.”

The egging incident has triggered widespread backlash, with social media users demanding the arrest and punishment of the culprits involved in the attack on Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, who is known for his quirky and comedic online persona.

Chahat himself has issued a formal statement for the growing support from fans and fellow celebrities. “I thank all the fans, fellow celebrities and news outlets for showing their support to me covering the incident which happened with me three months ago on June 19.”

  • ‘Why can’t we be romantic’: Asma Abbas wants older women to have different roles

‘Why can’t we be romantic’: Asma Abbas wants older women to have different roles

During a recent candid appearance on Ushna Shah’s talk show, veteran actress Asma Abbas shed light on the lack of romantic representation for older women in Pakistani television dramas and questioned the stereotypes surrounding married life in desi culture.

“We’re very chill. Why can’t we have love stories,” she asked rhetorically. “Bushra Aapa got married, Samina Aapa got married… why can’t we be romantic? Have we been reduced to just arranging tea,” she said, referring to veteran actresses Bushra Ansari and Samina Ahmed, both of whom got remarried at a later age in life.

The actress expressed frustration over how television rarely shows mature couples engaging in lighthearted or romantic conversations.

“A husband and wife can have romantic conversations too. It’s not necessary that they only talk about children’s issues. Have you ever seen a husband in any drama say to his wife, ‘Let’s go for a drive’ or ‘Let’s go out for tea’? I don’t like what’s currently being shown,” she said.

Ushna asked what sort of roles she likes more, to which she replied, “I like to play serious roles. Thank God that I was given a chance in one or two shows but I think if I can do comedy, then I can do written comedy. Bushra Aapa’s talent comes from inside, I don’t have that much. I am not like her, I enjoy more serious roles.”

Ushna asked Asma if she had ever found a fellow actor attractive. “Yes, I can say that I might have, but there’s no one specific,” Asma responded honestly. Ushna pressed further, suggesting actor Farhan Ali Agha as an example. Asma smiled and said, “He’s younger than me and looks very decent. I look at him more like a younger brother.”

When Ushna brought up names like Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui, Asma replied humorously: “They won’t accept it! Behroze Bhai might, but what kind of romance can you create with him? If I ever said something romantic to him, he’d say, ‘You’ll get a slap from me!’” She added, laughing, “But he’s very cute,” of the actor who’s mostly played comedy roles.

On the mention of the debonair Javed Sheikh, Asma was full of praise: “Yes, Javed Bhai is very dashing.”

Asma also spoke about her ongoing show titled Punjabi Kuriyaan (Punjabi Girls), where she plays the lead in a cultural talk-show format called Asma Aapa Ka Verra (Asma Aapa’s Courtyard). She invites guests and mentors two young, spirited girls named Chanko and Manko, who are depicted as relatives learning life skills under her guidance.

“This show is very close to my heart,” she said with visible affection.

‘No he did not’: Hania Aamir goes viral for heartbreak jam on late-night car ride

Pakistani actress Hania Aamir is once again winning hearts online — not with an on-screen performance, but with a raw and relatable moment captured during a late-night car ride with her close friends, content creator Nida Rehman and actor Rimha Ahmed.

In a video shared on Instagram, the trio can be seen vibing hard to Bruno Mars’ emotional ballad Grenade. Letting their hair down, literally and metaphorically, the girls were screaming the lyrics at the top of their lungs, singing their hearts out.

While fans describe the moment as “feeling like the 4th friend”, the fun didn’t stop at the vocals. Hania’s caption on the post read, “No he did not”, throwing in just enough drama to spark curiosity, while the text overlay on the video read: “pov y’all going through the same thing [sic].” And from the energy in the car, it sure looked like it.

Fans flooded the comments with love, relating hard to the impromptu jam session and praising Hania for always keeping it real.

Whether it was heartbreak, girl gang therapy or just a killer playlist moment, one thing’s clear, when it comes to being unapologetically herself, Hania Aamir is never hitting the brakes

However, internet users were left stunned at the unknown girl’s resemblance with Hiba Bukhari.

There is now a debate online about the lookalike. One user wrote, “She must be her mother.” Another added, “This has to be Hiba, and she’s lying about her age.”

Some users claimed that the actress must be over 40. Another said that this might be former PTV actress Zeba Ali, who is no longer active in the industry.

While responding to the questions, Hiba said, “I love how everyone is guessing my age. PS, some are saying this is 90’s.”

Pakistani celebrities expose Indian media’s fake reporting after Pahalgam attack

Pakistani celebrities have expressed anger over the negative propaganda spread by Indian media, social media, and the government after the attack in Pahalgam, with some using strong words to warn the Modi government that “the consequences of taking the initiative will be bad.”

Actor, producer, and director Yasir Nawaz, in a video message on Instagram, requested the Indian media and social media users to  “stop spreading misinformation, hatred, and propaganda,” adding, “Don’t be mistaken into thinking Pakistan will do nothing.”

Actor and director Yasir Hussain also voiced his concerns, stating, “Just as India is a nuclear power, Pakistan also has an atomic bomb. Spreading hatred will have bad consequences, for which the Indians will be responsible.”

He pointed out that “Indian YouTubers, bloggers, and media figures are busy spreading hateful and false information,” behaving as if Pakistan cannot respond.

Yasir Hussain made it clear: “Pakistanis may have political differences among themselves, but when it comes to the country, they are united, and they stand with the Pakistan Army on the issue of war.”

He also condemned the Pahalgam incident and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of human lives.

Similarly, actor Shamoon Abbasi also criticised the Indian media and the Modi government for spreading hatred. He said, “After the Pahalgam incident, the Indian media spread so much false news that they even declared a living couple dead — and later, the couple had to come forward themselves to confirm they were alive.”

According to Shamoon Abbasi, negative and hateful propaganda in India incited increased aggression among its people, with some even saying they would “enter Pakistan with bombs tied to their bodies.”

He recalled that “the Indian government had similarly spread hateful propaganda during the Pulwama attack in 2016.”

Addressing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shamoon Abbasi said, “You look bad when talking about terrorism because you yourself have been promoting terrorism.”

He added that “Modi has been spreading terrorism in occupied Kashmir for years, where innocent children, women, and youth are being killed.”

Abbasi compared India and Israel, calling them “two sides of the same coin,” and said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has a long history of spreading terrorism and increasing problems.”

He also remarked, “Whenever a Pakistani actor goes to India for work, the BJP spreads propaganda — even when Hania Aamir and Fawad Khan visited India.”

Appealing to the Indian public, Shamoon Abbasi urged, “Wake up and understand the propaganda by your government and media. War is not the solution. Wars only destroy countries and nations.”

Singer and actor Farhan Saeed also expressed his anger over the Indian media’s behaviour, writing on Instagram, “If a war breaks out between the two countries, the Indian media will be responsible for it.”

Farhan added, “The Indian media has been doing such heinous propaganda in the past and will continue to do so. The Indian public needs to come to its senses.”

According to him, “If war breaks out due to such propaganda, the ones spreading hatred will run away — and it will be the common people who suffer.”

Singer Umair Jaswal also criticised the Indian media. Sharing a video of the couple wrongly declared dead, he called the Indian media’s behaviour “a game of the BJP.”

He wrote, “The couple who were declared dead had to shout and prove they were alive. This is how the Indian media continues its negative propaganda.”

  • Govt to regulate falcon trade

    Govt to regulate falcon trade

The federal government has directed relevant authorities to streamline the import and export of falcons, ensuring that birds that are brought into Pakistan are taken back by their owners and not exchanged.

In a meeting of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) Management Authority on September 4, a Ministry of Climate Change representative stressed the need to tag falcons with microchips and identification passports, Dawn News reported.

Officials were hopeful that these actions will prevent the exchange or illegal trade of the birds and added, “This is a transit permission, not related to the commercial trade of species.”

The development came after previous incidents where Gulf princes took young falcons along with them and abandoned injured and aged birds, which were later illegally trapped in Pakistan and sold on the country’s black market; this raised concerns about wildlife exploitation, prompting strict rules to protect the birds.

Jerusalem Post article is ‘propaganda’, says Imran Khan

Founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has rejected the accusation that he supports dialogue with Israel and declared a The Jerusalem Post article which said he is central to establishing good relations between the countries propaganda against him.

Speaking with journalists at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, the former Prime Minister clarified that critics misinterpreted the article due to a “lack of understanding of English.”

He asserted, “They (critics) are making it seem like I am the biggest supporter of talks with Israel.”

He remarked that Israel, before considering dialogue, must announce a ceasefire in Gaza first and strive for a two-state solution.

Responding to questions about PTI’s next rally to be held in Rawalpindi, he said that if permission were denied, they (the party) would stage protests.

Criticising the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), he claimed, “They are giving extensions to the very people ensuring that the truth about the May 9 CCTV footage and electoral fraud never comes to light.”

The Jerusalem Post, one of Israel’s most widely-read newspapers, declared Imran Khan a central figure in normalising Pak-Israel ties.

An article written by Harry Richer asserted, “Figures like Khan could very well be central in changing both public opinion and military policy” for Pak-Israel ties.
