Farhan Saeed reveals he escaped mob attack in India after singing Dil Dil Pakistan

Pakistani singer and actor Farhan Saeed has revealed that he once narrowly escaped a mob attack in India after performing the iconic patriotic song Dil Dil Pakistan.

During his recent appearance on show Hasna Mana Hai, Farhan Saeed shared stories from his career, including an unforgettable incident that took place during a visit to India.

Farhan recalled, “I went to India with my musical band during the Aman Ki Asha initiative. We were performing in Delhi, and while singing Aadat, I suddenly began singing Pakistan’s famous national song Dil Dil Pakistan. After that, I added Jaan Jaan Hindustan and the concert turned into a huge hit! Around 25 to 30 thousand people in the crowd started singing Dil Dil Pakistan and Jaan Jaan Hindustan together.”

The singer said that the atmosphere was electric, and everyone, including the organizers were thrilled after the show. However, things took a tense turn a couple of days later during another concert in Kolkata.

Farhan continued, “Two days later, we had a concert in Kolkata. Just as we were finishing our last song, one of the organizers quietly came to us and whispered in our ears to immediately get into the car after the performance. We didn’t even get a chance to understand what was happening. As soon as we got into the car, we were told that a mob was gathering outside, angry over me singing Dil Dil Pakistan in Delhi.”

Farhan Saeed said they left the venue instantly, narrowly avoiding what could have been a violent situation. Despite the scare, he said the incident remains one of the most memorable experiences of his musical journey.

When asked whether Jal the Band would ever perform together again, Farhan responded: “I don’t know, Tabish. There’s no plan as of now, but it could happen. When I joined the band, I was just 19 years old. During our first tour to America, I wasn’t even allowed to perform at some places because I wasn’t 21 yet. I was with Jal for ten years — from 19 to 29 — but as you grow as an individual, your priorities change. In personal life, you have different choices; in professional life, you have different priorities.”

He added, “During my time with Jal, I didn’t take up any acting projects. I started acting only after leaving the band, and that turned out to be a good decision for me. Whenever a band splits up in Pakistan, people make a big deal out of it because we’re emotional people. Even Strings parted ways after 32 years and after so long, you can’t really say a band has ‘broken up’, they just begin to work individually. It’s not like a marriage and even a marriage can end, so when people separate professionally, it’s just part of life.”

  • Humail Rajpoot schools Gen Z for not knowing singer Shaan, gets response from the Indian legend

Humail Rajpoot schools Gen Z for not knowing singer Shaan, gets response from the Indian legend

Pakistani singer and composer Humail Rajpoot recently took to Instagram to express disbelief and disappointment at Gen Z’s apparent unfamiliarity with iconic Indian playback singer Shaan.

In the video, Humail is passionately defending Shaan’s legacy and criticizing the younger generation’s lack of musical knowledge.

Humail recounted an event where he was asked about his favourite singer, where he mentioned Shaan, only to be met with the question: “Who is Shaan?” He said he was shocked and responded by singing some of Shaan’s notable songs, including Kash Ek Din Aisa Bhi Aaye from the film Showbiz and the title track from Don.

“If I start singing his songs, we’ll still be here tomorrow,” Humail said agitatedly. “Beta, itni aap ki umar nahi jitney ganay hain Shaan ke (You’re not even as old as the number of songs Shaan has sung). What sort of kids are they?”

In the caption, Humail further expressed his frustration: “Disturbed to my core. Had to make a reel and share with all of you! I honestly don’t have anything against new singers. I really enjoy new music but when it comes to singers, these guys need a lot of knowledge! How are they satisfied going in front of a mic with vocals so heavily treated and tuned?”

Humail also used the post as a reminder about the importance of respecting artists, particularly those who have laid the foundation of modern music: “This video is for awareness that artists deserve respect, and legends deserve each and everything.”

Shaan himself responded to the video with a heartfelt comment featuring a red heart emoji and the joined hands emoji, a gesture of gratitude and mutual respect.

Shaan, born Shantanu Mukherjee, is widely regarded as one of India’s most versatile and beloved playback singers. Dubbed the “Golden Voice of India,” his career spans decades with a repertoire that includes timeless hits such as Chand Sifarish, Aaj Unse Milna Hai, Deewangi Deewangi, Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh, Chaar Kadam, Dus Bahane, and Main Hoon Don, among many others.

He has also hosted several music-based reality shows and remains a respected figure in the Indian music industry.

‘I am his only wife’; Umair Jaswal’s wife Nabiha breaks silence on comparisons with Sana Javed

Nabiha Umair Jaswal, wife of singer Umair Jaswal, has publicly addressed speculation surrounding her marriage and social media comparisons with her husband’s first wife, actress Sana Javed.

In a clear and composed statement posted on Umair’s post, Nabiha clarified that she is Umair Jaswal’s only wife and urged the public to refrain from unwarranted speculation and personal judgments.

“I would like to address this for the first and last time – Jazakullah Ul Khair for the heartwarming prayers, we truly appreciate it,” she wrote. “Secondly, my husband has only one wife and that’s me. Kindly practice self-control and discipline and do not draw comparisons between me and anyone.”

Nabiha also pushed back against intrusive comments regarding her choice of attire. “How I dress and whether I wear a hijab or not is not anyone’s business. My husband sharing his happiness with all of you does not entitle anyone to give opinions. If you cannot make dua then kindly restrain yourselves,” she added.

The statement comes after Umair Jaswal shared a heartfelt post last week, marking the couple’s first wedding anniversary while on a spiritual journey to perform Umrah. The post sparked a wave of online chatter, particularly due to Jaswal’s previously private remarriage following his divorce from actress Sana Javed.

Umair Jaswal and Nabiha tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in September 2024, several months after his high-profile split from Sana Javed.

Jaswal and Javed had been a celebrated couple in the entertainment industry until their relationship ended due to Javed’s alleged involvement with Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. The controversy escalated when Malik and Javed confirmed their own marriage in January 2024, amid reports that their relationship began while Javed was still married to Jaswal.

In a previous interview following his second marriage, Jaswal expressed gratitude for the support he has received. “God takes you through a journey and brings you to the right place, and when you reach the right place, the journey itself makes you appreciate your destination,” he said.

The singer emphasized his desire for privacy and said he hopes to be recognized for his work and personal growth rather than his personal life.

Jaswal had kept his second marriage private until he shared his wife’s picture.

  • Why education? Shehzad Roy showcases students who prove him wrong

Why education? Shehzad Roy showcases students who prove him wrong

Musician and philanthropist Shehzad Roy is once again making waves and not with his music, but through his powerful advocacy for educational reform in Pakistan.

In a series of heartfelt and inspiringly viral social media posts, Roy has been spotlighting students from the schools run by his nonprofit organization, Zindagi Trust, drawing widespread praise for the confidence, intelligence, and eloquence of the children, especially young girls like Amara, Umaiza, and Khadija.

Roy’s videos often show these students speaking on complex topics with clarity and self-assurance that defy their age. In one viral clip, a student named Amara corrects Roy on his definition of “news,” prompting laughter and admiration across social media platforms. In others, students discuss education, history, and social issues, offering a glimpse into the transformative impact of the Zindagi Trust’s progressive curriculum and learning environment.

    Instagram Post

“She corrected me, and she was right,” Roy said in one video, smiling proudly. “That’s what education should do—teach children to think critically, to speak up, and to be confident in their knowledge.”

Founded by Roy in 2003, Zindagi Trust has become a beacon of hope in Pakistan’s struggling public education system. The organization takes over government-run schools and revamps them with better infrastructure, trained teachers, a child-friendly curriculum, and a focus on arts, sports, and technology—elements often missing in conventional public schools.

The Current reached out to Roy to learn more about his ongoing work in the education sector, particularly through the initiatives of Zindagi Trust and Durbeen.

“We want to change the paradigm of teacher training in this country,” Roy told The Current. “We’re bringing major changes in government schools and government colleges, and we want people to see and understand the impact.”

To amplify their work, Roy and his team are using satire and storytelling to engage the public. “We’ve incorporated satire in our videos to highlight this in a more relatable way,” he said. “We’ve also created a number of videos featuring children in Geo’s show Chal Parra.”

Looking ahead, the campaign will also include a new song and a film titled Alif Noon, both aimed at capturing attention and generating wider interest in educational reform.

“We’re not preaching, we’re telling stories in an interesting and engaging way,” Roy emphasized, “We’ve already achieved major success in transforming the teaching and education model, and even bigger changes are coming.”

According to Roy, the broader goal is to connect with the public and build momentum for replicating these reforms nationwide. “This campaign is about helping people understand what Zindagi Trust and Durbeen are doing and encouraging them to be part of it.”

Under Roy’s leadership, flagship institutions like Khatoon-e-Pakistan Government Girls School and Fatimah Jinnah Government School have been transformed into model schools. These schools not only provide quality education but also foster critical thinking, gender equality, and creativity.

By showcasing young girls from these schools, Roy is also challenging long-held gender stereotypes and emphasizing the importance of investing in girls’ education. His posts often go beyond showcasing academic excellence, portraying these students as confident individuals capable of independent thought and leadership.

“These girls are proof that when you give children—especially girls—access to quality education, they thrive,” Roy shared in one of his captions. “They’re the future of Pakistan.”

Roy uses his platform not just to celebrate these students but also to advocate for broader education reform. His approach—mixing storytelling with social impact—has earned him widespread recognition both in Pakistan and internationally.

Jaswal, who tied the knot for the second time in September 2024 in an intimate ceremony, posted a touching tribute to his wife on social media. May Allah protect you always, and may His divine light always surround us. Happy anniversary, my love. Even eternity will feel too short with you. I love you. Forever yours.”

The singer’s marriage in 2024 came months after his highly publicized divorce from actress Sana Javed. The controversy intensified when Javed and Malik confirmed their own marriage in January 2024, while reports suggested their relationship began during her marriage to Jaswal.

  • ‘Never invested a rupee’; Shazia, Wajahat Rauf deny son Aashir is a nepo baby

‘Never invested a rupee’; Shazia, Wajahat Rauf deny son Aashir is a nepo baby

Celebrity producer-director duo Shazia Wajahat and Wajahat Rauf have strongly denied claims that their son Aashir Wajahat benefited from nepotism in the Pakistani entertainment industry.

In a candid conversation on a recent podcast, the couple opened up about the online criticism their son has faced, asserting that they have “never invested a single rupee” in his career.

“There was this helplessness because I was being restricted from replying to trolls,” Shazia said, addressing the public perception that Aashir’s success was handed to him due to his parents’ influence. “People used to say its nepotism and his dad must have done everything for him. But we knew he was doing it all on his own.”

Wajahat Rauf echoed his sentiments, revealing that Aashir had been financially independent from a young age. “He used to do advertisements for big companies as a child. By collecting that money, he made his own music videos costing around 1 to 1.5 lakh rupees. We never funded them. In fact, we were busy with our dramas. I’ve never called anyone to get him a role or a music project.”

He further clarified that no industry peer can claim that Wajahat Rauf ever made a call to get Aashir a role. “No one can come and say Wajahat called them to shoot a song or cast him in a film. That just didn’t happen.”

Wajahat shared how Aashir created his early music videos on a shoestring budget. “Some videos were shot at his grandmother’s house. Washed clothes were hanging in the background. The girl in the video was his friend and didn’t even charge him. That’s how he started.”

He added that Aashir has received both appreciation and trolling for his music, particularly referencing his hit song Ranjhna, which gained popularity. “Some songs were loved, some were not. A man learns from his mistakes.”

The couple opened up about their concern for their son’s emotional well-being in the face of intense public scrutiny. “We were very upset and concerned about Aashir,” Wajahat said. “We worried about whether he could handle the criticism. I was afraid he might break down.”

Addressing the source of public skepticism, Wajahat explained: “People see a 17-year-old uploading pictures with Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Dananeer, and Imran Ashraf, and they wonder, ‘What’s so special about him?’ They think these kids are born with silver spoons. But what they don’t see is the struggle behind the scenes. Aashir never defends himself, but he used to sit outside studios for hours, waiting.”

Wajahat also pointed out that nepotism does not guarantee success in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. “This isn’t India. You don’t automatically get work because your parents are famous. Aashir has done four films—two of them weren’t even mine. John and Na Baligh Afraad weren’t our productions. He has also done PTV telefilms and other projects.”

Shazia shared the story of how Aashir was cast in the film John, entirely on his own merit. “We didn’t even know who Babar, the writer-director, was. One day, Aashir told us he had been offered the lead role in a film. We were shocked,” she said. “He said Saleem Mairaj was also part of it. I later confirmed with Saleem bhai, and he said, ‘Yes, this boy Babar brought a great script and I agreed to work on it.’ Aashir had even shot an audition on the set of Raqs-e-Bismil without our knowledge.”

Despite her desire to publicly defend her son’s struggles, Shazia said her family discouraged her from speaking out. “I wanted to say so much about what he went through, but my family stopped me. They said it wasn’t worth it.”

Aashir Wajahat is a Pakistani actor, singer, and content creator known for his early start in showbiz. He began his career as a child actor in commercials and gradually transitioned into films and music. He has appeared in four films, including Karachi Se Lahore, Chhalawa, Na Baligh Afraad, and John. Notably, John marked his first lead role in a non-family production.

As a singer, Aashir gained widespread attention with his song Ranjhna, which became popular among youth audiences. He has also released several other songs, including Tutti Frutti, Sadqay, and Jo Tu Na Mila (cover), experimenting across genres and styles.

Following the release of John and a Ramzan special drama, “Aashir has taken a complete break from acting and music, with no current projects announced,” shared Shazia.
