    SSP Discipline advises officials to treat every complainant as a VVIP

    On Wednesday, SSP Discipline Lahore Ejaz Rasheed paid a surprise visit to Nishtar Colony Police Station, inspecting the front desk, reporting and record room, prison and presence of personnel, hygiene, and other pertinent sections of the office.

    The SSP told the police officers that resolving legitimate public complaints at the police station must be their first priority. He was of the view that police stations represent the department’s image and that boosting quality and providing justice to civilians should be their main focus.

    He remarked that every complainant who comes to the police station is a VVIP and the department must treat everyone with dignity and respect.

    SSP Discipline also inquired about police station personnel’s concerns regarding their job and the resources allocated to them. He also instructed the officers to accomplish the declared offenders and professional criminals’ arrest targets.

    On this occasion, SHO Nishtar Colony, Incharge Investigation, and other relevant police officers and personnel were also present.

    Motorway Police distribute prizes to the best drivers

    Inspector-General National Highways and Motorways Police (NHMP), Inam Ghani recently paid a visit to the Public Service Vehicles Management Centre (PSVMC) at the Motorway (M-2) North Toll Plaza.

    IG Inam Ghani presented prizes to the safest drivers on motorways/highways who did not violate any traffic rules including overspeeding, seat belt violations, lane violations while driving 30,000 to 40,000 kilometers, and made strict adherence to traffic rules.

    On the occasion, IG Ghani said that information technology plays a significant role in revamping the Motorway Police.

    He was of the view that linking NHMP’s system with NADRA can also help in arresting prominent offenders besides feeding information regarding vehicle registration, vehicle fitness, driving licenses, and benefitting from contemporary technologies. These advancements would help boost the performance of Motorway Police.

    In order to make motorways/highways safer and more convenient, the purview of information technology is being extended to facilitate motorists and encourage safe driving.

    Inspector-General (IG) Inam Ghani was joined by the DIG Motorway (M-2) North, DIG Operations, Sector Commander, and other senior personnel at the event.

  • Islamabad Traffic Police creates special squads to curb road stunts, one-wheeling

    Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has constituted special squads to prevent one-wheeling and road stunts in the federal capital.

    The special squads were created on the orders of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Muhammad Ahsan Younis to control one-wheeling, car racing, and rash driving, which endangers not only the offenders’ lives but also many other motorists.

    Various ITP units and special squads would conduct continuous patrolling operations at different spots of the metropolis, particularly on 7th Avenue, 9th Avenue, Margalla Road, Kashmir Highway, Islamabad Expressway, and Murree Road, and take action against motorists who engage in dangerous road stunts.

    The police officers and squads in these regions would maintain intensified watch, prohibiting young folks from being involved in dangerous actions.

    SSP Traffic, Rai Mazhar Iqbal stated that one-wheelers and rash drivers would face severe punishment. He urged parents to keep a close eye on their children and not allow them to play stunts on the roadways, endangering their lives.

    One-wheeler’s bikes will be seized, according to the SSP Traffic, while heavy fine tickets will also be issued to them.

    A papad vendor was allegedly murdered by wedding guests in Pattoki. The guests present at the wedding allegedly tortured the daily wager while mistaking him for a pickpocket. A video circulating on social media shows the dead body of victim Ashraf Sultan lying on the ground in the wedding hall as guests enjoyed their meal.

    Pubjab Police have taken action against the incident and have arrested 12 individuals and the manager of the wedding hall.

    In the initial postmortem report, the doctors didn’t affirm torture on the dead body. However, every side of the incident is being investigated, Punjab Police said in a statement.

    The Punjab Forensic Science Company (PFSA) workforce has collected proof from the incident.

    More than 25,000 women abducted in Punjab in three years, police records reveal

    According to police records, 25,099 women were abducted in Punjab between 2019 to 2021. As per details, 6,571 cases of abduction of women were registered in 2019, 8,129 cases were registered in 2020 and 10,399 cases of abduction of women were registered in 2021.

    According to the police, in the last three years, suspects involved in only eight cases of abduction have been convicted. Furthermore, 5,947 cases are still under investigation while challans of 5,157 cases have been submitted to the courts.

    As per the police records,13,901 cases of abduction of women were withdrawn because the abducted women said that they had left by choice. Moreover, 94 women have not been traced yet.

    Earlier this month, a report published in The News said that in the last six months 2,439 women were raped, 9,529 were kidnapped, while 90 women were killed in the name of honour in Punjab.

    Disguised as security officials, robbers loot foreigners

    Street crime in Karachi has increased manifold in recent months. A foreigner who was visiting Pakistan to attend a marriage ceremony was robbed at Sea View, ARY News reports.

    According to details, an FIR has been registered against this incident in Karachi. As per news reports, two suspects used to follow foreigners to rob them after identifying themselves as law enforcers.

    “While they were on their way home, they were intercepted by a white vehicle by men posing as cops, erecting a barricade,” said the complainant. “In the guise of checking, the robbers took the money from them and ran away,” added the complainant whose son-in-law and friend were visiting Pakistan from the United Kingdom (UK).

    Police arrested a few members of the notorious gang. They also recovered looted foreign and local currencies, expensive items including laptops and mobile phones, fake number plates, police uniforms, wireless sets and weapons used in various crimes.

    Police are on the hunt for other members of the group as further investigation is underway.

    Three police officers sustained injuries after a police mobile was targeted in Dera Ismail Khan.

    According to media reports, the police mobile was damaged in the bomb blast detonated by a remote control. The injured officers have been moved to the hospital where they are said to be in critical condition.

    Security agencies have cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt to arrest the culprits.

    According to initial reports, a police team was deployed for the ongoing polio campaign in the town.

    Female police officer escapes gang-rape attempt in Nishtar Park

    A woman constable near Gaddafi Stadium Lahore escaped a gang rape attempt by two men on Friday. As per the police, one accused named Shahid, has been arrested on the statement of the girl while the other accused could not be arrested.

    As per the First Information Report (FIR), available with Geo News, the lady constable wanted to reach Ferozepur Road from Nishtar Park Sports Complex gate no 1. She asked the suspects for the directions, but they misguided her on purpose. The girl is deployed in Lahore’s Anti-Riot Force department. According to media reports, the suspects work as security guards.

    When the lady constable reached the deserted place, the suspects allegedly tried to rape her. However, her father and brother came to her rescue when she screamed for help.

    According to the police, the woman also wrote down the full address of the person who tried to rape her and stated the time of the incident in her complaint. As per the police, the girl has also undergone a medical examination.

    A video of an on-duty police officer is doing the rounds on social media in which he can be seen slapping a citizen outside Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Thursday.

    As per journalist Qadir Khawaja, the police officer in the video was DSP Gulberg Amir Abbas, who was stopping the man in the video from going into the wrong lane.

    In the video, the man can be seen leaving without saying anything after happened to him.

    According to details, Inspector General of Punjab Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan took notice of the incident of violence against staff/citizens by DSP Gulberg and sought a report from CCPO Lahore.

    According to a handout, the Punjab police chief directed DIG operations to personally conduct inquiry into the incident and submit a report to him at the earliest.

    He said incidents of indecent or immoral behaviour with subordinate staff and citizens are not acceptable and further action would be taken in light of the inquiry.

    The IG issued special instructions to Lahore Police on the occasion of Pakistan Super League (PSL) at Qaddafi Stadium Lahore for the security of players and spectators and for better traffic management.

    IG Punjab directed them to ensure best security to cricket fans coming to watch PSL matches. He also directed police personnel to perform their duties with diligence and treat citizens with courtesy.

    Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that implementation of an approved traffic plan should be ensured for the convenience of the citizens and smooth flow of traffic.

    In this regard, additional wardens should be posted on the roads of alternative routes to control the additional traffic congestion.

    IG Punjab said that there should be no obstruction in the movement of emergency services vehicles, ambulances, fire brigade, etc., and diversions should be made for the transportation of teams and no road should be closed unnecessarily.

    Rao Sardar directed senior officers to review traffic management themselves and ensure smooth flow of traffic in all cases.

    He said that the citizens should be made aware of the traffic situation through the Rasta app, Rasta FM 88.6 social media and media.

    IGP also directed Dolphin teams to provide assistance to the traffic police in controlling the traffic whereas extensive parking arrangements for cricket fans should be carved out.

    Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that during the PSL matches, all the police teams should be on high alert and perform their duties and play their responsible role in the journey of revival of cricket in Pakistan and also provide a peaceful environment to cricket fans.

    He directed that lady police personnel should be deployed for the security and checking of female spectators.

    Meanwhile, on Thursday, PSL franchise Multan Sultans registered a 42-run victory over Peshawar Zalmi.

    Electrician arrested for murdering and then raping a woman in Karachi

    Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a suspect for his alleged involvement in the rape and murder of a woman after brutally killing her in Lyari, Karachi, ARY news reported.

    According to details, the body of a woman was found near the Cheel Chowk area of Lyari on January 18 under mysterious circumstances, only to be found later that the victim, Sumaira was murdered by an electrician, who use to come for repairs at her home.

    SSP Sarfaraz Nawaz while confirming the arrest said that suspect was an electrician by profession and has been arrested from the Kalakot area.

    “He used to frequently visit her home for repair works,” he said, adding that on the day of the incident, the suspect went to her home to repair a light. The electrician murdered the woman and later subjected her to rape and fled from the scene.

    He was arrested after the evidence collected from the crime scene pointed towards him.
