    Police arrest Peshawar man for wearing scary mask

    Police have arrested a man for wearing a costume mask and frightening citizens.

    The Yakatoot police received complaints about a motorcyclist riding around the streets with a scary mask to frighten pedestrians. The police traced and detained the man after complaints

    Naila Inayat, a journalist, shared a video of the man behind the bars. “This guy arrested in Peshawar had plans to celebrate Independence Day by scaring people. Apparently, the police wasn’t much impressed. He was caught in his scary mask,” she wrote in a tweet.

    Journalist Iftikhar Firdous tweeted, “Peshawar police and masks don’t get along.”

    Firdous was referring to a man who was wearing a ‘wolf mask’ in Peshawar on New Year’s Eve and was arrested by the Peshawar police for “trying to scare off people” in the provincial capital.

    Investigators in Noor Mukadam’ s murder case are checking the calls logs of Zahir’s mother — Asmat Jaffer — who called the head of Trillium Information Security Systems, a private Rawalpindi-based security firm, several times on the day of Noor’s gruesome murder on July 20, reports Zahid Gishkori for The News.

    Asmat Jaffer, who was in Karachi at the time of the murder, was also in contact with her son at 7:29pm. Noor’s murder reportedly took place between 6:30 and 7:30pm.

    Shortly after this call, Zahir contacted Trillium Security’s head at 7:30pm for five minutes after which Asmat spoke to the head of the firm at least thrice. Not only this, several people that she was in contact have confirmed that she was actively moving between Karachi’s DHA, Clifton and Shaheed-e-Millat Road area and reached out to multiple people at this time. According to The News, Zahir’s mother communicated over 200 times with numerous people: her servant, neighbours in F-7/4, a few influential individuals, a security company, capital police, a welfare trust, four private firms, her immediate family members and periodically with her son, the suspected killer, officials and people involved in the case said.

    These strange calls started peaking in the afternoon of July 20. She made frequent calls to Zahir a dozen times. However, the nature of these calls hasn’t been disclosed yet.

    “I have nothing to do with what happened [at Jaffer House]. These are absolutely false findings. Whatever the folks are saying is incorrect, as I have no connection with this [Noor Mukadam] murder,” Trillium Information Security Systems’ owner told Gishkori.

    The court denied bail to Zahir’s parents. Asmat Jaffer arrived at Quaid-e-Azam International Airport, Karachi, at 6:30am on July 21, throughout on call. Upon her arrival, she did not go to her family home. She went straight to sector F-8 for a few hours, before going to a friend’s house in sector F-6.

    A drunk thief in India’s Tamil Nadu got stuck behind an automated teller machine (ATM) while he was trying to steal money.

    The police arrested the thief identified as Upendra Roy. The police first rescued the thief and then detained him. 

     As per reports, Roy in his drunk state, removed the plywood on the wall behind the ATM and managed to reach the back of the machine.

    Nearby residents informed the authorities when they heard strange sounds coming from the ATM. The police reached the spot and arrested the thief.

    Four missing girls ‘escape abduction from prostitute dealers’

    Sahiwal police have rescued four girls that went missing from the Hanjarwal area of Lahore six days ago.

    SHO of Ghalla Mandi Sahiwal police station, Imdad Khan confirmed to the BBC that the four abducted girls had been rescued and handed over to Lahore police, where further investigation into the case would continue.

    DETAILS OF THE ABDUCTION

    On July 30, four girls from Nambardaranwala Chowk in Hanjarwal left their house after getting ‘disappointed with the domestic circumstances’. At around midnight, a rickshaw driver dropped the four girls on the main road near the EME Society and no trace of them was found since then.

    An official involved in the investigation said that the police had detained the rickshaw driver and a neighbour of the girls for an inquiry as the neighbour was with the girls till 11 pm. However, he later left the girls in Hanjarwal and went home.

    Two days after the girls went missing, the girls’ father filed a petition against their alleged abduction at the Hanjarwal police station.

    He stated that apart from his two daughters, two of his neighbour’s daughters had left home to travel on the Orange train but never returned. He searched for the girls but could not find them. The father suspected that the girls had been abducted.

    RESCUE EFFORTS

    After the complaint, various police teams were formed to rescue the girls. According to investigators, they rescued the girls after one of the girls switched on her mobile phone.

    SHO Khan told the BBC that according to the initial investigation, the girls were picked up by a rickshaw driver from EME society and when he got to know that the girls had left their house, he provoked them and took them to his house.

    According to the SHO, the accused rickshaw driver contacted a friend and the two planned to take the girls to their hometown of Sahiwal for sale at a brothel.

    The accused kept the four girls in Lahore for two days, Saturday and Sunday, then took them to Sahiwal in a car.

    Imdad Khan further said that Sahiwal police had been conducting raids on brothels for the past several days. On August 2, during a raid, they arrested a person involved in this case who was later released on bail. The police, however, had no information about his involvement in this case.

    The person involved left the girls at a deserted place immediately after being released on bail, fearing that the police might have reached their area in search of these girls.

    The suspects kept the four girls in the Farid Town area of ​​Sahiwal while their wives assisted them there.

    “We received a call on the ’15’ informing us of four minor girls,” SHO said. We immediately rushed to the spot and took the girls into our custody and then later as a result of talking to them, we found out that these girls have reached here from Lahore and Lahore police were also looking for them.”

    All the accused, including two women, are now in police custody and an investigation is underway.

    THE CASE

    Responding to a question, SHO said that Lahore police had registered a case under section 363 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which could carry the death penalty.

    The SHO claimed that the conversations with the girls made it clear that none of them had been sexually assaulted in any way, but Lahore police will still conduct medical tests to meet legal requirements.

    The police officer said that the girls have refused to return to their homes due to fear. After their statement in the court, it will be decided whether they will be sent to their homes or a Darulaman.

    Mohammad Qamar, the investigating officer in the case, said that not all the cameras of Safe City were fully operational in the area around Multan Road where the metro train track had passed, which made it difficult for them to find the girls.

     Four girls who went missing for the last four days have been found in Sahiwal, Geo News reported Wednesday.

    As per reports, they went missing from Lahore’s Hanjarwal area. The mother of two of the girls said that her daughters went missing with their neighbours’ daughters at 8pm on July 30.

    “Out of fear of humiliation, we did not inform anyone and searched for the girls ourselves,” she said.

    According to the police, the four girls were found in Sahiwal and Lahore police officials had gone to Sahiwal to pick them up from there.

    The girls reportedly said that they were not kidnapped by anyone but turned off their mobile phones for fear of being scolded by their parents. The police traced their location when one of the girls switched on her mobile phone.

    Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had ordered Punjab Police to recover the missing girls and told Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore to submit a report.

    In a similar incident, the Lahore police found four more girls who had run away from Pakpattan, according to a statement issued by the CCPO Lahore. The case was reported to Pakpattan police.

    According to a statement given to the police, the girls said they fled Pakpattan because they feared their uncle. The girls will be safely sent to their families, Lahore CCPO Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said.

    Islamabad Police registered a case against a couple for a photo shoot in front of Quaid-e-Azam’s portrait in Islamabad under Section 294 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), reported ARY News.

    The case has been registered on the complaint of Rashid Malik. In the complaint, Rashid Malik says that the pictures have been taken in revealing dresses in front of the portrait of the country’s founder Quaid-e-Azam, which has hurt our sentiments, and requested authorities to take action against the involved people. Koral Police station registered the case and started an inquiry.

    Earlier, senior journalist Ansar Abbasi took to Twitter and requested Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqat to arrest the models who posed in front of Quaid’s portrait.

    A man was fined for riding a motorcycle with “Wazir-e-Azam” (prime minister) inscribed on a number plate in Mandi Bahauddin.

    As per reports, the traffic police imposed a fine of Rs200 on Tauseef Raza for riding a bike with an illegal number plate.

    After the police fined him, he got angry and said he bought the bike with the “Wazir-i-Azam” number plate two years back.

    “No one dared intercept and fine me. How dare they fine me after two years,” said Tauseef.

    Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Inam Ghani in a tweet has assured to provide space and unbiased space to the victims of abuse and harassment.

    “While victims of abuse and harassment are bravely trying to take action against the perpetrators, they are pressurised, threatened and silenced by the very same perpetrators through their position, relations, financial position or network of connections,” wrote Inam Ghani in a tweet.

    “In all such instances, the public should know and remember that my office is always open for all victims and vulnerable persons as a safe, unbiased space and we will support every victim who approaches us, to our best capabilities.”

    “No injustice will be tolerated and protection and support will be given to all those who need it. Call 1787 in any such situation, in which case it will be given priority by me personally.”

    IG Punjab’s tweets came after Noor Mukadam was beheaded in Islamabad.

    Police rescue woman tied with chains, locked up by brothers

    Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police rescued a woman tied with the chains and locked up in a dark room by her brothers for over a year on Tuesday.

    As per reports, police have arrested the three brothers identified as Sahir Khan, Faheem Khan, and Nadeem Khan while the fourth brother is on the run. 

    Talking to The Express Tribune, District Police Officer (DPO) Swabi Muhammad Shoaib said they had received information about the woman they raided the house after confirmation and released her from the illegal captivity.

    Mohammad Shoaib further told the media that the woman was living with her brothers after her divorce. “She wanted to move the court to claim her children’s expenses from her ex-husband but her brothers did not want this.”

    “There was not even a fan inside the room. When we raided the house, we saw that she had been chained like an animal and the only light coming into the room was through a window,” said another police official.

    The policeman added that the woman had been imprisoned as her brothers blamed her for the divorce and were also against her seeking a job. 

    The woman stated in her FIR that she got married 13 years ago and had two children, a girl and a boy. A case has been filed against the accused and an investigation is underway. 

  • Case registered against five suspects for raping, killing goat in Okara

    Police booked five men for allegedly raping and killing a goat in Okara on Tuesday.

    According to the police, five men unchained a labourer’s goat and took it with them to a nearby compound. The suspects sexually assaulted the animal, tortured and killed it.

    As per reports, locals saw the suspects escaping after committing the crime.

    The owner of the goat registered a complaint with the police. Police registered a case against the five suspects.

    Azhar Hussain, a local of Satghara police station, had his goat tied in front of his house which was untied by Naeem and his four partners. The suspects took the goat to a nearby compound where they tortured and raped it.

    The goat was taken to a livestock hospital by the police. The medical report showed that the goat was raped before it was killed. Police have started a search operation to arrest the suspects.

    DPO Faisal Shehzad took notice of the incident and ordered Satghara SHO Javed Khan to detain the culprits as soon as possible. SHO Javed Khan said the suspects will be arrested soon.

    Residents of the area demanded from the police to strictly punish the culprits for the heinous crime.
