    Bride in Rawalpindi arrested for aerial firing; groom escapes

    A bride was arrested for aerial firing at a wedding ceremony in the Gohra area of Rawalpindi, while her husband fled the scene when police arrived.

    Police identified the bride as Sana Shehryar and stated that she was caught red-handed while firing. They noted that she did not possess a weapons licence.

    According to officials, the incident took place within the jurisdiction of Mandra police station. A video of the firing surfaced online, following which a case was registered and a pistol along with bullets was recovered.

    Police said that the groom handed the pistol to the bride, while a photographer directed the shoot before she opened fire. They added that the bride attempted to flee but was stopped by a lady constable.

    Officials said that an informant had provided prior information about the aerial firing. 

    The case was registered under the Punjab Arms (Amendment) Ordinance 2015.

    The bride was presented before a magistrate after her arrest and was sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

    A court later approved her bail. Area Magistrate Gujar Khan Aftab Ahmed directed the accused to submit surety bonds worth Rs50,000.

    Police have arrested a man for allegedly filming women inside the washroom of a local hospital in the Cantonment area of Rawalpindi.

    As per the details, a hospital official discovered non-consensual videos recorded on the suspect’s mobile phone, following which law enforcement was alerted.

    Local hospital security supervisor Noman Mazhar told police that while on duty, he heard noise coming from the women’s washroom area. Upon checking, a woman standing outside the washroom informed him that someone had recorded a video or taken pictures of her using a mobile phone from the adjacent washroom.

    When the washroom door was opened, a man identified as Muhammad Khalid came out with a mobile phone in his hand. When checked, secretly recorded videos of at least two women were found.

    The suspect was immediately apprehended by the hospital’s security staff and handed over to the police along with the phone.

    According to police, a case was registered against the accused at Cantt Police Station following a complaint of harassment within the hospital premises.

    Police have registered the case against the accused under sections 292 (sale, production, distribution and exhibition of obscene books, pamphlets, drawings, figures or other obscene objects) and 509 (insulting the modesty or causing sexual harassment of a woman through words, gestures or acts) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and launched an investigation.

    Cantt Station House Officer (SHO) Noor Ul Ain said the accused would be presented before court with solid evidence after completion of investigation.

    Superintendent of Police (SP) Talha Wali condemned the incident, stating that harassment or violence against women and children was intolerable. He said that the accused would be awarded exemplary punishment.

    A father allegedly killed his daughter and a man thought to be her partner in the name of so-called honour in the Gujjar Khan area of Rawalpindi, police have said.

    According to reports, Nadeem, a resident of the Takia Baba Rahim Shah area, lived with his family, while his daughter Shanail worked at a medical complex nearby. 

    Police said Shanail was reportedly involved in discussions about a potential relationship.

    On Wednesday morning, Nadeem allegedly saw Shanail with a young man named Rehmanullah at home. In a fit of rage, he opened fire, killing both Shanail and Rehmanullah at the scene.

    The suspect’s wife was also caught in the gunfire and sustained serious injuries from three bullet wounds. She has been shifted to a hospital for treatment.

    Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Gujjar Khan Daniyal Kazmi and Station House Officer (SHO) Gujjar Khan Tayyab Zaheer reached the scene after receiving information of the firing. 

    Police collected evidence from the site and shifted the bodies to a hospital. An investigation into the incident has been launched.

    In a separate case earlier this year, a father shot and killed his teenage daughter and nephew in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, police said. 

    The incident took place in the Lashar Abad area along Qambrani Road. Abdul Majeed, Station House Officer of Kechi Baig Police Station, identified the victims as Nazneen, 18, and Ghulam Qadir, 19.

    Rawalpindi man dies of heart attack after Supreme Court hearing

    A 70-year-old man in Rawalpindi on Friday died of a heart attack after attending the hearing of his case pending before the Supreme Court (SC).

    As per the details, Abid Hussain passed away while being shifted to the hospital after the top court heard the case related to his under-construction house.

    The case had been pending before the SC for a year and was heard by a two-member bench comprising Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Shehzad Malik on Friday.

    Listed as Serial No. 8 under the title ‘Muhammad Ramzan vs Abid Hussain’, the case was filed on July 22, 2024, with the first hearing taking place on November 11 this year. 

    Returning home after the case was adjourned, Abid suffered a heart attack and passed away while being shifted to the hospital.

    A 50-year-old woman was burnt alive after being doused with kerosene, allegedly by her brother-in-law in the Rawalpindi’s Dhamial area police said on Sunday.

    The suspect was taken into custody after initially claiming the woman’s injuries were caused by a compressor explosion.

     Police later confirmed the woman had been set on fire two days earlier. A murder case has been registered.

    City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani has ordered prompt action, including instructions on arresting the suspect and a case to be registered. 

    A 23-year-old resident of Quaid-i-Azam Colony in Dhamial named Mohammad Shahzad Ahmad Bhatti submitted the FIR, claiming that he was at work when his uncle called to tell him that his mother had been burned in a compressor explosion and sent to CMH hospital.

    Shahzad discovered his mother Shahzia Farooq unconscious and severely burnt when he arrived at the emergency room.

    His sister later told him that their aunt Hajra Adeel had quarreled with both her and their mother before threatening to kill them.


    She allegedly forced his sister out of the house, locked the door and shortly after, neighbors heard screams coming from within. 

    The neighbors unlocked the door and discovered Shahzia engulfed in flames, while Hajra was reportedly changing her clothes. When asked how the woman had caught fire, Hajra claimed it was due to a compressor explosion.

    Shahzad said that his aunt intentionally burned his mother alive, blaming it on a domestic dispute. He said quarrels often broke out as his father managed household expenses, leading to repeated tensions between his parents and his aunt.

    Initial police investigations confirmed that the woman was doused with kerosene and set alight.

    CPO Hamdani condemned the act, saying crimes against women will not be tolerated and that the accused would be punished according to law.

    Ismatullah, the head of a jirga who ordered the killing of Sidra, a married woman in Rawalpindi’s Pirwadhai area, has reportedly confessed to murdering her himself during the night between July 16 and 17.

    A newly registered First Information Report (FIR) states that during interrogation, Ismatullah disclosed he personally killed Sidra, acting on a decision made by a jirga.

    He further revealed that Sidra was his cousin. Armed with a weapon, he forcibly entered her husband Usman’s house and took her from Muzaffarabad to Rawalpindi.

    Ismatullah confessed to killing Sidra as per the community’s decision and burying her body in a graveyard. He also admitted that Saleh Muhammad, Amani Gul, and others were present at the time of the murder.

    During questioning, Ismatullah provided details about the murder weapon, which led to the recovery of a Kalashnikov. According to police, the suspect failed to produce a license for the firearm, prompting authorities to register a separate case against him for illegal possession of weapons.

    After the murder, the victim’s body was reportedly transported to the graveyard in a loader rickshaw in the rain. She was buried, and the grave was deliberately erased to destroy evidence. However, under court orders, the grave was exhumed and a postmortem was conducted.

    A suspect disguised as an online delivery rider entered a home in Rawalpindi’s Dhoke Kala Khan area and requested water. 

    The robber drew a weapon, held the residents at gunpoint, and looted cash and gold from the house. Tragically, an elderly resident suffered a heart attack during the incident and passed away on the spot.

    According to the police, the suspect used the extreme heat as an excuse to request water to gain entry into the house.

    Locals reported the incident immediately, and officers from Sadiqabad Police Station arrived at the scene to secure the area and begin investigations.

    The suspect remains unidentified, and efforts are underway to locate and arrest the perpetrator.

    A case under the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) has been registered in Rawalpindi following a social media post that violated the law.

    According to details, Waris Khan Police charged a man identified as Muhammad Rehan with spreading false information online, including sharing inappropriate content.

    The police spokesperson stressed that spreading propaganda or false information under the guise of free speech is unacceptable.

    Under the Electronic Crimes Act, any content deemed harmful to state security, public order, or peace will result in immediate legal action. The law aims to curb the misuse of social media for spreading false narratives.

    The spokesperson urged the public to exercise caution on social media, warning them that misinformation or negative propaganda would lead to legal consequences.

    Four Adiala jail officials dismissed over prisoner murder inquiry

    The Punjab government has terminated four officials from Adiala Jail Rawalpindi, including Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram and Assistant Superintendent Riaz Khan.

    A notification issued by the Punjab government read that officials were dismissed after being found guilty in an inquiry into the murder of a prisoner in Adiala jail.

    It further read that the inquiry was initiated on February 29 following the death of a prisoner in the cells. The inquiry declared seven officials guilty, including Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram, and four of them were recommended by the Punjab government to be dismissed from employment.

    It should be mentioned here that Deputy Superintendent of Adiala jail Rawalpindi Muhammad Akram, along with other officials, were also apprehended over the allegation of the facilitation of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan in Rawalpindi Adiala jail.

    Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi and his sister Aleema Khan exchanged harsh words during the Toshakhana case hearing at Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, Express Tribune has reported.

    An uproar flared up in the family section of the prison, where women’s voices were heard arguing loudly, interrupting Imran Khan’s conversation with journalists thrice.

    The dispute started after Aleema Khan commented about a female lawyer in court, to which Bushra Bibi and her daughters responded, upon which a heated conversation escalated, and both exchanged hard-hitting words.

    Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi’s granddaughter started crying as the argument unfolded.

    Outside the jail, Aleema talked to journalists to take a swipe at PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat.
    “Imran Khan just shook hands with Sher Afzal Marwat, he did not hug him,” Aleema stated.

    She accused Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa of trying to eliminate PTI and Imran Khan. “As Qazi Faez ends his tenure, the election results will crumble.”
    Faez Isa and Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Amir Farooq are a part of the London agreement plan, which facilitates Nawaz Sharif, she alleged.
