    Police to launch crime app, install alert button in Rawalpindi police stations

    Rawalpindi’s Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dr Sohail Habib Tajik has said that a crime App was being launched to facilitate citizens in registering complaints about any criminal activity, Dawn reported.

    According to the details, the RPO revealed this news while addressing a press conference at his office for the first time after assuming the charge.

    Dr Sohail also said that a “helper” button will also installed in police stations to facilitate citizens in registering complaints about any criminal activity in the city.

    In case of failing to get the police response, the complainant can press the helper button which will automatically forward an emergency call to all senior police officers. The button will generate a SOS message as soon as the complainant presses it.

    All senior officers, including the RPO, district and circle police officers, will receive the message at the same time, making it impossible for the police officials present at the police stations to ignore the complaint.

    The RPO said, “All available resources will be spent on the police force,” adding that he believe in transparency and want to get positive results by introducing community policing in the city.

    Dr Sohail also said that people were afraid of visiting police stations to lodge their complaints but the mobile app would help them approach the authorities without any fear.

    He further informed that a total of 400 police employees serving at residences and offices of police officers had been called back and posted to police stations to strengthen the police working more.

    RPO said that his top priority was to gain citizen’s confidence and to change public perception about police department.

    The Sri Lankan cricket team has landed in Pakistan and the matches are scheduled from 11th to 15th December. Surely there will be strict security checks and also some traffic problems. Therefore, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Hamza Shafqat, has shared the traffic plan for the Pakistan-Sri Lanka match.

    The traffic plan, planned by Islamabad Traffic Police and City Traffic Police Rawalpindi, will be from 10th December to 15th December from 6 am to 6 pm.

    Murree Road will be blocked from Faizabad to 6th Road

    Stadium Road from IJP Road to Murree Road will also be blocked

    Ghousia Chowk turn towards Murree Road will be shut

    People would have to take alternate routes from Haroon Chowk and Dhoke Kala Khan Chowk towards Ghousia Chowk.

    Turns towards Murree Road on Islamabad highway – for traffic coming from Zero Point and Koral will be blocked.

    Rawalpindi to Islamabad:

    If you are entering Islamabad from Rawalpindi, these are the alternate routes.

    A U-turn in front of Kidney Center on Murree Road will be used to divert traffic towards Islamabad.

    Traffic from Sadiqabad will use Farooq-e-Azam Road/Kurri Road to merge onto the Islamabad motorway.

    Traffic coming from Rawal Chowk will be averted to Islamabad motorway and they can enter Rawalpindi from the following points:

    Traffic from IJP-9th Avenue Chowk will use Pindora Chungi, Katarian Market, Pirwadhai Mor, Carriage Factory and Pirwadhai to enter Rawalpindi

    The authorities have also advised the citizens to cooperate with the traffic police for uninterrupted traffic flow.

  • Arrested child rapist’s father boasts of ‘connections in army’

    Father of the suspected child rapist, who was arrested on Tuesday and confessed to having abused at least 30 children, has said that he would fight his son’s case while boasting of his family’s connections within the army.

    Rawalpindi police on Tuesday arrested Sohail Ayaz from the city’s Rawat area for allegedly running a child pornography group and live-streaming videos of the sexual assaults over the dark web.

    Ayaz is suspected to have kidnapped and raped multiple children.

    In a viral video that started doing rounds over the internet following Ayaz’s arrest, Sohail’s father was seen complained that his son’s face had not been hidden by the police, which had brought shame to his family.

    He said that he would fight his son’s case to the very end, adding that he had connections in high places. “We have around two dozen high-profile army officers in the family,” the suspect’s father can be seen telling the person recording the video.

    “The police’s press conference brought shame to the family,” he added.

    He also denied the claim that he had disowned his son and maintained the police must have “tortured him into confessing to the crimes”.

    According to Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Captain Faisal Rana, the alleged sexual predator has confessed to raping at least 30 minors and was earlier deported from both Britain and Italy after serving jail sentences for similar crimes.

    CPO Rana noted that the suspect was employed at a child protection institution in Britain and it was there that he started sexually abusing children. Pictures and videos were recovered from the arrested suspect.

    The latest of Ayaz’s crimes was when he raped a labourer’s daughter, police have said, stressing that more confessions were expected from him. Some reports indicate that he drugged and sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy for four days and filmed the traumatic ordeal to threaten the child.

    Further, Rawalpindi Police citing CPO Rana mentioned on Twitter that police would register cases of child abuse on its behalf if the survivors’ parents were unable to do so due to societal pressure.

    Rana added that they also approached federal law enforcement agencies to recover the children’s explicit videos and pictures from the possession of the suspect.

    Police arrests couple for sexually abusing and filming 45 girls

    Police have arrested a couple allegedly involved in kidnapping, sexually abusing, blackmailing and also recording inappropriate videos of 45 girls in Rawalpindi. The accused identified as Qasim Jahangir and Kiran Mehmood confessed to the crime.

    As per reports, the action was taken after a complaint was filed by a victim, a student of Allama Iqbal Open University. The student said that she was kidnapped from outside Gordon College by a woman who pretended to be a fellow student. She said that her brother was coming to pick her up. After a few minutes, when her “brother” arrived in a grey car, the woman pushed the victim inside the car and threatened her with a knife. The student was then taken to a house in Gulistan Colony where Qasim, the husband, allegedly raped her while the wife recorded a video of the crime. They blackmailed the girl by showing her video. Later at night, she was released on Tipu Road.

    Police officials said that the couple had sold the videos and photos to an international porn website. The wife has been sent to Adiala jail on judicial remand while the husband is in police custody on physical remand.

    The police have also involved the FIA as they do not have modern technology to examine laptops and other devices used by the accused.
