Sialkot molestation suspect ‘accidentally shoots himself in private parts’

A man accused of molesting a woman on Sialkot’s Pasrur Road was injured after accidentally shooting himself in private parts during a police chase.

A viral CCTV footage had earlier this week shown the suspect driving past two women on a street, only to turn his bike around and grope one of the women outside their house.

Days after the video started doing the rounds on social media, a new video has surfaced online, showing the suspect confessing to what he did.

He went on to confess to a similar incident six months ago, and revealed that he had accidentally shot himself in his private parts during a consequent police chase. “I seek an apology from my sister [the victim] as well as from CCD [Crime Control Department] and the government. I will not perform any such act in the future,” the suspect said.

It merits a mention that the “accidental” firing of the suspect’s own weapon and injuring his private parts is not the first incident of its kind as several similar cases involving rape or molestation suspects have been reported in recent weeks.

On August 22, a man accused of molesting a 10-year-old girl in Chunian was critically injured after accidentally shooting himself in the private parts during a police raid for his arrest.

Earlier, another suspect who harassed a minor in Kasur’s Shah Inayat Colony, accidentally “shot himself” while trying to evade arrest.

  • 51 arrested, 142 booked for attacking police, Ahmadi worship place in Daska

51 arrested, 142 booked for attacking police, Ahmadi worship place in Daska

One day after a case had been registered against 142 protestors for attacking police at village Ralioke near Daska last week, Sialkot police have arrested 51 individuals suspected of being involved in the attack.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered on the complaint of Motra Police Station House Officer (SHO) Mobin Ahmed Cheema who said that the police were performing routine duty when they reached village Ralioke at 2pm, finding a mob carrying hammers, sticks and iron rods, seeking to demolish the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya’s Baitul Zikr.

Cheema said that efforts to tell the charged mob not to take the law into their hands went in vain, adding that, instead, they attacked the police.

He further stated that upon receiving information about the attack on the police, a heavy contingent reached the spot.

According to details, when the Sialkot Superintendent Police (SP) investigation reached the spot, the angry protesters attacked the police once again, pelting them with stones, opening fire, and damaging the van of the SP and the prisoners.

As per the SHO, the police seized three pistols and bullets from the spot. Motra Police Station registered an FIR against 42 identified and 100 unidentified suspects under sections 324/353/440/148/149/295 /295A/153A of the PPC and 7-ATA. Some of the suspects were arrested on the day of the incident, while others were arrested on Sunday.

Videos of the attack on the Ahmadi Place were circulated on social media on Friday. Before that, suspects had made announcements on social media, urging people to gather at Ralioke.

The Punjab police played an effective role last week, as Lahore police reportedly thwarted a mob attack on a worship place of the Ahmadi community in the city’s Samanabad.

A strong contingent of force from several police stations reportedly responded to the emergency 15 call from the community when local residents were about to advance towards the Ahmadi worship place.

As the mob reportedly attempted to siege the worship place, the police launched a major operation, rescuing women, children and other worshippers, shifting them to a secured area and increased security of the worship place. Police high-ups also engaged known local figures, including religious leaders, to maintain peace.

An Ahmadi worshipper told Dawn News that the protesters had accused the Ahmadi community of violating the time schedule of worship on Friday. However, dismissing the charge, he said that they were following the given schedule.

Lahore Operations Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Faisal Kamran confirmed that protestors gathered outside the Ahmadi worship place were members of a religious-cum-political party pressing for a change in Ahmadi worship timing.

Five newborn baby girls’ bodies found in garbage

In a horrifying incident, bodies of five newborn baby girls have been found in heaps of garbage in different areas of Sialkot during the last 15 days, a leading newspaper reported on Monday.

According to District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Naveed Iqbal, the rescue team received a call about a newborn lying in the garbage near Adda Stop, Duska, on February 15, 2024. When they arrived at the scene, the baby girl had already died.

Similarly, Iqbal claimed that the bodies of four other newborn girls were discovered in Kharta Sayedan, Pasrur Road, Dalwali, and Bhaer Pulley, adding that most of the bodies had been mutilated by stray animals.

Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Shahzad stated that two of the bodies were found within the Saddar police station’s jurisdiction, while three were discovered in the Cantonment police station’s precincts. He added that an FIR had been registered against unidentified individuals responsible for discarding the newborns.

The DPO mentioned that police investigation teams have begun working on these cases and expressed hope that the culprits would be identified soon using human intelligence and modern tools such as CCTV footage.

Expressing concern over the horrific incident, Sialkot Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Zulqarnain Langarial said the health chief executive officer had been directed to inspect private hospitals and maternity homes to find clues about the parents of the deceased newborns.

Langarial emphasised that such incidents would not be possible without the cooperation of civil society.

Separately, the corpse of a newborn child was found on a garbage heap in Mozang, Lahore, according to a reputable media outlet.

As per Edhi Foundation officials, the infant’s remains were abandoned on a roadside garbage heap.

Upon receiving information, Mozang police took the body into custody and arranged its burial at Miani Sahib graveyard with the help of Edhi volunteers.

A case was registered against an unidentified individual, and police said they were working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

Meanwhile, a 65-year-old woman was found dead in her rented house in Harbanspura, with initial reports suggesting she was electrocuted.

The deceased, identified as Shakeela Fazilat, was living alone. Upon receiving information, police arrived and shifted the body to a hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The police registered a case and launched an investigation. Investigators suspect that the woman was deliberately electrocuted, but details will emerge after forensic and medical analysis.

  • Sialkot woman cut into pieces by in-laws

Sialkot woman cut into pieces by in-laws

A domestic fight took the life of a woman from tehsil Daska of Sialkot.

Media reports suggest that the 30-year-old woman was killed by her mother-in-law and sister-in-law on Tuesday. The victim’s body was then put into a sack and thrown into a drain.

The case came to light when Shabbir Ahmed, a resident of district Gujranwala, complained to the police that his daughter Zara Bibi, who was married to Qadeer Ahmed of tehsil Daska, had gone missing.

Zara and Qadeer had been married for four years, but Qadeer worked abroad while Zara lived with her in-laws.

Shabbir told the police that when he called his daughter two days back, he found her mobile phone switched off. Worried, he went to meet his daughter at her in-laws’ house in the village of Kotli Meeran in Daska. There, he found out that she was not home, and her in-laws expressed ignorance of her whereabouts.

Zara’s father alleged that her mother-in-law and her sister-in-law used to assault his daughter.

The local Police Station registered an FIR against Zara’s in-laws, namely her mother-in-law, sisters-in-law and their sons.

A police investigation revealed that the victim’s body was found in a sewage drain.

Further investigation revealed that she was killed and her body was dismembered by the killers.

Geo News reports that the suspects confessed to the murder during the investigation, after which the police recovered the body parts from a sack in a drain.

It was further revealed in the probe that the mother-in-law is actually the maternal aunt of the victim, and Zara had just returned to Pakistan from Saudi Arabia with her two-and-a-half-year-old son.  She is reported to have come to visit often in the past as well.

The reason behind the domestic feud was that Qadeer used to send all the money to his wife’s account, which perturbed Zara’s mother-in-law, Sughran Bibi.

The latter first tried to get her son to divorce his wife by accusing her of having loose morals. When that did not work out, she and her daughters planned the murder. To execute the plan, the mother and daughters lured a relative from Lahore, Naveed, to help him go to Italy. Thus, they first choked Zara to death, then cut her body into pieces and then burnt her face so that she could not be identified.

They stuffed the pieces of the body in five sacks. After this, Naveed went back to Lahore while the mother-in-law, with the help of her daughters and grandsons, threw the body in the drain.

As Zara’s father informed the police about her daughter’s disappearance, the cops took the grandsons into custody and interrogated them, who revealed the whole truth.

Now all the suspects involved are in police custody.

Indian Sikh woman marries Sialkot man after embracing Islam

Jaspreet Kaur, a Sikh woman of Indian origin currently residing in Germany, has married a man from Sialkot, Pakistan, after embracing Islam on the hands of senior parliamentarian Hafiz Sahibzada Hamid Raza at Jamia Hanfia in Sialkot.

The administrators of Jamia Hanfia said the bride’s parents were Indian nationals but they lived in Germany. Zainab also resides in Munich.
Her father’s name is Singara Singh, a resident of Ludhiana.

The woman came to Pakistan on January 16 for a pilgrimage. She has been issued a single-entry visa valid till April 15, reported the Express Tribune.
She holds an Indian passport obtained in Germany. She married Ali, a resident of Sialkot, after falling in love abroad.

  • Authorities confiscate smuggled cigarettes worth Rs14 crore

Authorities confiscate smuggled cigarettes worth Rs14 crore

In a substantial crackdown on the illicit trade of non-duty-paid cigarettes, the Inland Revenue Enforcement Network (IREN) successfully seized over 679,000 packerites (15,580,000 sticks) of smuggled cigarettes during a two-day operation.

The confiscated cigarettes, representing various local and foreign brands, including Business Royal, H&P, Platinum, Milano, and Olympic, have an estimated value exceeding PKR 140 Million.

The enforcement teams targeted local shops in Peshawar, Multan, and Sialkot, where the availability of non-duty paid cigarettes had seen a concerning surge.

This operation was initiated under the directive of Mir Badshah Khan Wazir, Member (IR-Operations), who emphasized the need to curb the illegal trade of tobacco products.

Criminal proceedings have been set in motion against both manufacturers and transporters involved in this illicit trade.

One of the key factors contributing to the rise in the popularity of smuggled cigarettes is the substantial price difference compared to duty-paid alternatives.

While the cost of a pack of 20 duty-paid cigarettes starts at Rs600, the non-duty paid counterparts can be obtained for as low as Rs200. Some reports even suggest that certain brands are being sold at an even more economical rate.

The increasing prevalence of non-duty paid cigarettes poses a serious concern, not only in terms of lost revenue for the government but also due to health implications.

Smokers in Pakistan, attracted by the affordability of these illicit products, have contributed to the surge in sales of non-duty paid cigarettes.

The IREN’s recent operation sends a clear message that the authorities are actively addressing this issue to safeguard public health and financial interests.

As investigations unfold, it remains to be seen how this crackdown will impact the illicit trade of cigarettes and discourage individuals from opting for non-duty paid alternatives.

  • Clashes between PTI workers and police amid general elections

Clashes between PTI workers and police amid general elections

Clashes have been reported between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers and police officers, after imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan gave calls for rallies ahead of the February 8 general elections.

Numerous PTI supporters attempting to organize rallies in cities like Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar were taken into custody during the crackdown, adding to mounting political tension. Reports also indicate police raids on election offices, confiscation of party paraphernalia, and the removal of banners and panaflexes, allegedly aimed at intimidating party workers and voters.

In Lahore, former Punjab governor and PTI candidate for NA-129, Mian Muhammad Azhar, was arrested by the police during an attempt to lead an election rally in his constituency. He was reportedly released later in the day.

His son, PTI Central Punjab General Secretary Hammad Azhar, took to X (formerly Twitter) and stated, “My 82-year-old father was arrested. He wanted to lead a rally as per his democratic and constitutional rights”.

“Pakistan has today been reduced to a total fascist state with zero human rights or rule of law. One Nawaz Sharif and his daughter calling the shots and ruining the country,” he added.

Despite the challenges, Mian Muhammad Azhar, upon his release, maintained that he had not committed any crime, asserting that his sole offense was organizing an election rally. He highlighted the apparent disparity in treatment, alleging that all political parties were allowed to conduct rallies and public gatherings, except the PTI.

In Karachi, over 20 PTI workers were arrested as the party attempted to conduct an election rally near Clifton Teen Talwar. Violent clashes erupted between PTI workers and the police, turning the area into a battleground. The confrontations resulted in injuries to police officials, including SHO Boat Basin Riaz Niazi, whose jaw was reportedly broken.

Police used baton charges and tear gas to disperse the PTI workers, leading to further injuries among the protesters. The clash disrupted traffic near Teen Talwar, Clifton, for a significant period.

SSP South Sajid Amir Sadozai told Express Tribune that no prior permission was taken by PTI workers to hold a rally in Clifton.

The PTI workers had blocked the road, following which the police asked them to clear the road.

In reply, they attacked the police with stones and sticks as a result more than 10 police personnel including SHO Boat Basin and a lady SHO were injured. SHO Boat Basin’s jaw was broken and he is in critical condition.

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) chief organiser took to X and said, “They should be dealt with iron hands.”

PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan condemned the actions of Karachi Police, emphasizing the constitutional right of every citizen to hold a peaceful rally during the election campaign.

Similarly, in Peshawar, PTI workers held rallies across various locations in the city, including Ring Road. The police apprehended 30 individuals from Pahari Pura, Faqieerabad, Sharqi, Hayatabad, Khazana, and Sarband.

Moreover, cases were filed against over fifty workers and community leaders.

Seventeen individuals were mentioned in the FIR within the jurisdiction of Paharipura police station, with seven of them being taken into custody. Likewise, Faqeerabad police station detained seven workers.

Sarband police arrested 17 individuals, while Hayatabad and Sharqi police each apprehended three PTI workers.

Earlier, PTI Chakwal candidate Ayyaz Amir reported a peculiar situation emerging in Chakwal involving the police. He highlighted instances of police raids on the homes of prominent local citizens, arrests of their family members, and acts of vandalism against local leaders.

Major election rallies were observed in various constituencies, including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Okara, Chakwal, Mandi Bahudin, Layyah, Bahawal Nagar, Mansehra, Gagu Mandi, Chitral, Banu, Peshawar, Karachi, Hyderabad, and other cities.

He also said that he has never talked ill about anyone and never will.

Buzdar stressed the importance of political parties setting aside differences and working collaboratively for the greater good of the country.

He emphasized the need for unity and collaboration to contribute to the improvement of Pakistan.

He sent well wishes to his former party and disclosed that he has joined hands with the head of the Muslim League Zia, Iijaz-ul-Haq.

A joint press conference was held where Iijaz-ul-Haq said, “I believe that elections will take place on February 8. Usman Buzdar, Yar Muhammad Rind, Amin Aslam, and 25 others are with us.
