‘My married life is no one’s business’: Reham Khan shuts down divorce rumours

British-Pakistani journalist Reham Khan has addressed rumours that she has divorced her husband Mirza Bilal. Speaking in a six-minute video, Reham confirmed that the news is fake, criticising trolls for being invested in her personal life.

“Whether I get married 12 times or get divorced 12 times, it’s none of your bloody business,” Reham said. “If you gave this much attention to your own life, career and your children, you would be so much better.”

Her husband was seated next to her.

“Whoever’s sleep got disturbed because of our marriage, first of all I want to tell them they can sleep now peacefully. Whoever was upset they don’t need to stay worried any longer, we have taken care of our issues.”

Reham tied the knot with Mirza Bilal in an intimate ceremony in Seattle last year, and revealed the news on social media by calling it the happiest day of her life by marrying someone “who will be around me in my darkest hour”.

Angelina Jolie ‘saddened’ by forced deportation of Afghan refugees in Pakistan

Angelina Jolie has always been one for speaking her mind. The Hollywood A-lister and UNHCR ambassador won hearts globally when she openly criticised the Israeli regime for air strikes on Gaza which has claimed countless innocent lives. Now, she has spoken out against the deportation of 1. (www.enov8.com) 4 million Afghan refugees from Pakistan.

Reporters have said that they are banned from taking pictures of detention centres or to speak with any of the captives, and several families have reported that their children were being picked up despite having a birth certificate.

Sharing clips of Afghan families and children stranded at the border, Angelina called this an example of “the backsliding in human rights globally,” on her Instagram.

“Pakistan has been a supporter for many Afghan refugee families for decades. I am saddened they would so abruptly push back refugees who face the impossible realities of trying to survive in today’s Afghanistan, where women have again been deprived of all rights and the possibility of education, many are being imprisoned, and there is a deep humanitarian crisis.

It is yet another example of the backsliding in human rights globally, and is a new tragedy in the long history of the suffering of Afghan people – who have experienced nothing but war and conflict and displacement for over forty years, and are being abandoned by the world after all the promises that were made of a better future for the Afghan people.”

  • Fiza Ali wants you to know even divorced couples can remain on good terms

Fiza Ali wants you to know even divorced couples can remain on good terms

Actress and television host Fiza Ali has made an important point on how couples can remain good friends and still choose to end their marriage together.

Speaking on the morning talk show ‘Good Morning Pakistan’, the actress opened up about her divorce and feeling disheartened by the way her colleagues discussed her ex-husband Fawad Farooq. Fiza said she left acting after feeling upset with how mutual friends of the couple would backbite about him to her, even though there was no bad blood between the two when they separated.

“Whatever issues I had with Fawad, it doesn’t give an outsider the right to step up and abuse him in this manner. Especially when I haven’t said anything about him, as a friend why are you backbiting about him?”

Fiza said misbehaviour shown by people was something she couldn’t handle, especially how friends kept urging her to open up about how she suffered during her marriage, when the two remained close after their divorce.

“I was never abused or beaten during my marriage, Fawad was not that kind of person! There can be several reasons why a couple can end their marriage and it doesn’t solely mean abuse was innvolved.”

We’re happy to see Fiza being upfront about this issue because too often, Pakistani society loves assuming that the only time a couple should end their marriage is when there is abuse involved. Getting a divorce shouldn’t only be offered as an option in such circumstances, because there are several reasons why couples can feel incompatible and chose to divorce.

Fizza’s statement is also extremely important for audiences to remember that every person is entitled to their privacy. Rather than making assumptions on her behalf and jumping the gun, learn to leave others alone and mind your business!

No Hollywood celebrity showed up to Gal Gadot’s propaganda film screening, and Twitter is in fits

Social media was outraged when it was announced that former IDF soldier, actress Gal Gadot, will be hosting a private screening for celebrities at the Museum of Tolerance, depicting the attacks of October 7. However, Twitter was in fits when Israeli supporter Eve Barlow complained that no Hollywood celebrity-including Gadot herself- had shown up for the event. Viral videos showed protests erupting outside the museum with Palestinian supporters calling for an end to the genocide in Gaza.

“Last night at the Museum of Tolerance, Hollywood was supposed to gather to watch the footage from October 7. Not a single celebrity showed up. F*** their ribbons, and their marches and their signatures. There is no fortitude in Hollywood. They are all a bunch of cowards.”

  • ‘Painful to watch’: social media horrified after Congress votes to censure Palestinian-American politician Rashida Tlaib

‘Painful to watch’: social media horrified after Congress votes to censure Palestinian-American politician Rashida Tlaib

On Tuesday night, the US House voted to censure Palestinian-American Representative Rashida Tlaib over comments she made on the situation in Gaza.

Among the voters were 22 Democrats who backed a resolution saying Tlaib has been “Promoting false narratives regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel and for calling for destruction of the state of Israel.”

The death toll of Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes has soared to 10,000 civilians. UNICEF spokesperson James Elder has called Gaza “a graveyard for thousands of children”, urging world leaders to call for a ceasefire.

Tlaib provoked ire by using the slogan ‘from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’, which Republican politicians claimed was anti-Semitic.

Speaking on the House floor, Rashida defended her stance and urged fellow lawmakers to end USA’s complicity in the genocide of Gaza.

“I will not be silenced and I will not let you distort my words,” Tlaib responded. “No government is beyond criticism. The idea that criticizing the government of Israel is antisemitic sets a very dangerous precedent, and it’s been used to silence diverse voices speaking up for human rights across our nation.”

Social media users were horrified by the censure, hailing Rashida as the bravest politician for having the courage to speak truth during a time of censorship.

  • ‘Be considerate’: Hasan Raheem outraged at racist comment about Afghan cricket team

‘Be considerate’: Hasan Raheem outraged at racist comment about Afghan cricket team

Tuesday’s World Cup thriller between Afghanistan and Australia ended with the latter grabbing victory from the former after Glen Maxwell’s blistering knock of 201 runs.

As X (formerly Twitter) became flooded with memes and tweets about Maxwell’s performance, one user went viral for celebrating the loss of the Afghan cricket team by comparing it to the ongoing illegal deportations of Afghan refugees. The user wrote:

“Afghanistan to World Cup se bhi deport ho gaya.”

The comment drew outrage from Twitter users, including singer Hasan Raheem who quoted the tweet and responded:

Zunaira Imam, the wife of actor and director Usman Mukhtar expressed her disdain over the insensitive tweet by writing:

“This is not funny. This is not a joke. People are suffering right now. Our policies are not only harming Afghans but also Pashtuns who are being wrongfully incarcerated or deported. People’s pain and hardship should not be the punchline for a joke.”

Right now, more than 100,000 Afghan refugees are detained in holding centres despite most of them being registered in Pakistan. Aurat March has highlighted cases such as that of a 17-year-old boy who was picked up and deported without informing his family.

READ MORE: ‘Afghan-looking’ Pakistanis taken to holding centres for deportation, says Aurat March

In light of the trauma Afghan families face with the on-going deportations, X users were aghast at the insensitivity of the tweet. Especially when Pakistanis are championing the right for Palestinians to be given back their land.

Shahid Afridi opens up about why he chose Shaheen to become his son-in-law

Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Afridi married Ansha Afridi, the daughter of former cricket star Shahid Afridi, in a star-studded celebration that went viral on social media. The two tied the knot in Karachi and later held wedding festivities in September.

Speaking on Samaa TV’s podcast, ‘Boom Boom’ Afridi opened up about why he chose Shaheen to be his son-in-law.

“His family and mine had been talking about this topic for a long time,” Shahid said. “Shaheen is a very good human being. I had not known him personally but the elders in our family knew each other very well, but their contact had faded. A lot of people who played domestic cricket with Shaheen praised him for being very mature, well mannered. All these things were very important for me to know what kind of a person he is.”

Shahid was then asked about the chances of developing a career in Bollywood, to which the former cricketer replied:

‘”Yes, I got an offer two to three times, in India as well, I think one should only do something that he can. My identity was cricket, I was never in movies, and neither was my family into that so I never thought of that. It was fine doing some acting in TV commercials but that was it.”
