    The Punjab police detained a man on Thursday for harassing three women waiting at a bus stop in Lahore.

    A Twitter user, Hasna Khan Dasti, posted a video that shows a man advancing towards the women who were running away from him.

    Soon after the video did the rounds on social media, the Punjab police shared a picture of the suspect in custody, saying that the police had registered a case and arrested the suspect.

    Since the Minar-e-Pakistan incident, the number of sexual harassment and assault cases has increased up to 300 per cent in Lahore.

    A police report stated that during the past 1.5 months, 642 cases of sexual harassment were registered under sections 354, 354-A and 509-B as compared to the number of incidents up to less than 150 that had been reported before August 14.

    Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Shariq Jamal Khan said that the ratio of sexual assault and harassment cases was high in the past but previously people used to avoid registering cases.

    He added that the actions related to the accused in the incident of Greater Iqbal Park have encouraged the women to report such cases. He said that the authorities will take strict action in such cases.

    The police brutality video has emerged from an eviction drive in the Sipajhar area of Darrang district of Assam. Policemen opened fire at a man and thrashed him.

    A photographer, identified as Bijay Shankar Baniya, is also seen assaulting the man, who appears to have a bullet wound in his chest. Baniya is a professional photographer who was hired by the district administration to document the situation and has been arrested, according to reports.

    According to Scroll, the administration served an eviction notice to residents of Kirakota Char late on Wednesday night. There was a protest on Thursday morning, after which the administration reportedly “promised that the villagers will be rehabilitated before the eviction”. But when the activists left the area, the police opened fire on the protestors, residents told Scroll.

    Pakistan’s federal minister Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter to condemn the incident, and said, “Today, Prime Minister Imran Khan will once again draw the attention of the United Nations to the atrocities taking place in India. #ModiFascism”

    Lawyer, Aman Wadud tweeted, “HOW will the govt stop the hatred he represents? Oh, wait! It is this govt that generated this HATRED!”

    YouTube recently gave a shoutout to a Pakistani YouTuber, Irfan Junejo, on its Instagram page.

    YouTube shared the picture of Junejo with the caption, ” Head to @irfanjunejo‘s channel to wander into his cinematic universe Link in bio to check out his channel.”

    After the shoutout, Junejo took to social media to credit the location in the picture. He wrote, “So…this happened yesterday.     TikTok star, Hareem Shah recently posted a picture on her Instagram account with the caption, “My Life”.

    The Current reached out to Hareem Shah and asked her who the guy in the picture was. The TikToker revealed that the person in the picture is her husband.

    She further told The Current that her husband is from Karachi and is a politician belonging to the Pakistan People’s Party but she refused to give us his name.

    Earlier, Hareem said that she can’t reveal her husband’s identity until he takes permission from his first wife.

    Hareem said in her live session with Geo news that, “I will reveal his identity soon after I will get the permission.” When asked that who is stopping her, she said: “As I have told earlier that my husband is married and as soon he will take permission from his wife and tell his family, we will announce our marriage.”

    Hareem allegedly tied the knot to the PPP politician in a private ceremony. But details about her husband were kept under wraps from the media and public.

    On Sep 13, 2021 several Twitter users came out in protest against Lahore’s famous Butt Karahi, tweeting and condemning them for serving dead animal meat. Some of these posts can be found here, here, here and here.

    However, Lahore’s Deputy Commissioner, Umer Sher Chattha, took to Twitter to clarify that the eatery was sealed for violating Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

    Chattha wrote in a tweet, “Clarification AC city sealed it due to Covid SOP violation, not because of serving dead animal.” Butt Karahi fans were quite relieved to see this clarification.

    A video made rounds on social media where a horse can be seen grinning while treating himself to some chips from a woman’s plate.

    The video was uploaded on Twitter by ‘Viral Hog’, with the caption: “This happy horse can’t stop grinning at salt and vinegar chips .”

    In the video, a woman wearing a pink T-shirt is seen sitting in a field, accompanied by a few other people. She is holding a plate of salt and vinegar chips.

    A horse, who happens to be standing right beside her, keeps munching the chips in delight from her plate.

    Each time the horse bends his neck, he takes a snack from the plate and ends up smiling after each bite. Everyone present at the scene can be heard roaring with laughter when they see the horse smile.

    The person making the video happens to be the woman’s son and can be heard saying, “Oh he likes mom’s chips.”

    Later, two dogs appear in the video and look intrigued by the happenings and the laughter. They too begin to eat the pieces that dropped from the animal’s mouth.

    Twitter has rolled out Safety Mode feature for a limited number of users.

    Safety Mode is a feature that temporarily blocks accounts for seven days for using potentially harmful language — such as insults or hateful remarks — or sending repetitive and uninvited replies or mentions.”

    “When the feature is turned on in your settings, our systems will assess the likelihood of a negative engagement by considering both the tweet’s content and the relationship between the tweet author and replier. Our technology takes existing relationships into account, so accounts you follow or frequently interact with will not be autoblocked.”

    Authors of the tweets found by Twitter to be harmful or uninvited will be autoblocked, meaning they will temporarily be unable to follow your account, see your tweets, or send you direct messages.
